Tumblr media
hm. this looks fine. nothing going wrong here folks
lmao the scouters keep trying to make my team sleep and it keeps missing but finally they targeted robo and somehow it worked. sleeby robot
Tumblr media
dalton stop being extra and just look me in the face when you talk to me pls,, Ah. Well, you did turn around at least, but only to be More dramatic. Also, hiding behind your toys, cmon man,

Tumblr media
worth the trouble 💜 good job lucca youre amazing! aww robo’s gift for her, that’s so sweet as well
im ... almost done i think?? like, isnt this just a ‘‘wrap up sidequests prepare and go fight the big bad’‘ moment? Seems like. guess i know what im doin tomorrow. referring back to that list of sidequests time grandpa gave me and then ... big fire. I really should get some rest now, though. So the rest of that will wait.

This Crossover is Full of Pandaemonium
Chrono Crusade and SVSSS is an almost perfect fit.
Chrono Crusade: Girl makes a contract with a devil in order to find her brother. They both become exorcists of a demon-hunting religious order to do this. It turns out that the "devils" are actually aliens! Key bit of information about these devils: Devils are composed of cells referred to as "Legion." (I tended to interpret them as being biotechnic organisms, basically nanotech Bee People.) The manga ending features the antagonist trying to set off a Grey Goo apocalypse because he hates imperialism that much. He's stopped by Chrono, the titular demon of the manga series. The success is Pyrrhic though, and the ending made me bawl my eyes out.
Anyway! Say it turns out that the SVSSS Heavenly Demons are Heavenly in the sense that they are aliens! Specifically, the Chrono Crusade aliens. But not as a precise crossover. This was a different ship, a different cosmic accident, that crashed and resulted in the PIDW Heavenly Demons. (And the passengers, not the crew, which is why they don't have horns putting them under the control of the ship.)
In addition, because why not include the transmigrator elements, lets have either Chrono (one of the two protagonists) or Aion (the antagonist), or both end up in PIDW verse.
Choose your player:
Aion: Okay so, Aion is a monster. He cannot help being a monster because the ritual that would have permanently enslaved him to a horrifying gestalt of screaming ghosts being used as fuel/computer/life support system went wrong and as a result, he has a deep and utter loathing for any form of hierarchal control. It probably didn't help that the Elders of his community decided to put down him and his entire generation because something went wrong. (This does not stop him from taking advantage of it.) To make things worse, he is an idealistic monster, in the sense that he believes that his actions are correct and righteous, and in a certain sense they very well might be. Our boy could be best said to be an anarchist. He believes that the mass extinction event he's trying to trigger will lead to a better, more peaceful, with a better and kinder way of life. However, he's going about it in a way that is utterly lacking in individual compassion for the folks he's willing to murder for his cause. (I kind of headcanon him as being neurodivergent. I played and wrote him as somewhat unable to grok actual social cues, and made him the kind of literal-minded where you just go down a rabbit hole of why certain phrases mean certain things, which is more or less canon because he keeps mixing up common aphorisms or remembering them incorrectly in canon.)
Chrono: Our boy is Aion's brother. Chrono adored and believed in his brother and what he thought was their joint goal of freedom and safety from their people, who were still trying to hunt them down. His faith is shaken after a sequence of events that results in the death of Mary, the woman they both care about. Aion kills the woman, who has vast gifts of precognition because the woman was subsumed by the Horrifying Ghost Gestalt Monster. He believed there was no hope and no cure, and because Aion is a kind of a complete bastard, he ordered Chrono to kill her. Chrono objects and tries to run for it with Mary, but Mary ends up dead anyway. Chrono possessed greater compassion and empathy for individuals. (Also neurodivergent, but in a slightly different way. His behavior seems to indicate that he was probably the one assigned as the "responsible one" in childhood. He's very empathetic and protective of those he's close to. He's gentler than Aion, buuut paradoxically more likely to go absolutely berserk if a loved one is threatened.)
Both these boys have so much fucking ptsd.
Both can almost look completely human except for their hair and eyes. (Aion: white hair, light purple eyes, Chrono, red eyes, purple hair. I might make them better and disguises.)
The possibilities of who I could stick them with are endless. Aion would probably go to ground and become a crime boss. This is what he knows, and would be good at, even in Fantasy Ancient China. Possibly he gets involved with demonic cultivators because that is also a part of his mo. Those demonic cultivators will probably end up very dead, but no great loss. An interesting story might be Aion taking in Shen Jiu, or stumbling across bitty!Mobei-jun. Or both! Aion would probably be in a crisis of faith because of having been defeated/stopped by Chrono, but would start weaving new plots almost immediately because fuck all hierarchal systems.
Chrono on the other hand is usually moved to support. What Chrono knows is "exorcism" which is essentially being a demon hunter. Our boy ends up going on a lot of night hunts, and maybe acquires a social network that way. He'd make an extra effort to seem human. He'd end up becoming very well known as a "cultivator." I would also want to have him maybe run into Shen Jiu or maybe Shang Qinghua. Or maybe Su Xiyan.

We’ve been in the car for long periods of time again recently and the husband decided to continue subjecting me to Kanye West’s entire discography. Kanye is his favorite hiphop artist, if not his favorite musical talent, and he has a respect and admiration for his work that he wants to share with me.
Now, I’m not a big fan of hiphop, but I’m also not about to begrudge someone their passions, so I listened and played Animal Crossing while he drove us home from Costco for 2hrs. I listened while we drove into Tokyo and to Chiba City and back home again.
As a result of my polite and caring behavior of sharing his passions, my husband has asked what my favorite albums are. I have to tell him that my family was too broke to buy CDs overall and when we weren’t, all the albums I have are things I liked in middle school. It was after that that I was able to just acquire the individual tracks I liked from the radio without having to get the entire disc.
I’ve also had to confront the fact that over the last several years, my relationship to music as been putting it into the background so I can have something to listen to to help me focus on homework or writing. I can’t have lyrics because then I listen to the words and it can’t be too loud so I can tune it out, or I can’t listen at all because the people around me don’t like it or because I won’t be able to hear when the people around me need my help.
But he wants to listen to my music. He hates it. He tries to compromise and the best compromise we’ve come up with is just listening to retro video game music. Like a 10hr video of mixed music from Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, Final Fantasy musics, Ogre Battle, etc. Since we’re in the car with nothing else to pay attention to, and I use this kind of music to occupy the bees in my head, and my mother was raised to entertain at parties from a young age by virtue of her parents having parties all the time, we usually chat while we’re driving instead.
Things we’ve been discussing recently are: What do you consider a JRPG by your own personal definition? Even if the game is made in America. Or What is the perfect length of a game? Or discussing our views on Dragon Quest 11′s third act (it’s not great).
I started this post last night and I don’t remember what my point was, just that it’s frustrating when he asks me these things and I remember all the reasons why I can’t answer them instead of just saying “I dunno”, ya know?

★ @ghostbustingreen asked:  🍵Pour one out for Geno, Nikki
Tumblr media
OH DREAMY  THE CANS OF BEES YOU’VE JUST OPENED. LET’S-A FUCKING GO. i’mma put this under a read more because i’m aware that i’ll probably be getting really fucking vile here. y’all been warned.
holy shit, let me just say how STUPID some people are for thinking that people who like geno have CLEARLY never played super mario rpg because if they did, they WOULDN’T like geno because THEY THEMSELVES DON’T. they often like to compare sales and say that smrpg was a ‘flop’ that few people liked, on top of the fact that their opinions make them so blinded by bias that they can’t fathom other takes.
let me break down how fucking brain-dead this take is and why it makes me want to get these dumbasses brain transplants, STAT. put them on the front of the brain transplant waiting list, because they DESPERATELY need them.
first of fucking all, bitch, your experience with smrpg is not everyone else’s. just because someone’s favorite character is geno DOES NOT MEAN THEY DIDN’T PLAY THE GAME. there are so many other lovable characters in smrpg (mallow, jonathan jones, booster, valentina, smithy, jinx, etc), but if someone’s favorite is geno, they SURELY don’t know the other characters and OBVIOUSLY never played the game. LOL SMRPG PLAYS THE GAME FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME HAHA
you know another reason why people make this shit up? because of geno mostly being known for being a smash request. i do agree that this does blow, as i wish people would stop associating geno ONLY with smash and let smrpg fans just appreciate him and his game as a whole, but GOOD FUCKING GOD. guess what? a lot of people heard about geno and therefore smrpg BECAUSE OF THAT. guess what happens when people hear of a game and fall in love with a monumental character from that game? they might, you know... play the game?
B-BUT THE GAME IS SO HARD TO GET! YOU CAN ONLY GET IT ON MODERN SYSTEMS IF YOU WERE ONE OF THE FEW TO OWN A WII U OR AN SNES CLASSIC.
sit your pure christian brainlet ass DOWN, karen, because you underestimate the rampant piracy when it comes to nintendo games. i know that people doing something that may be harmful to your pwecious favowite cowpowation is enough to make you clutch your doterra essential oils or your unwashed dick, but it’s a thing! wow! especially with games like earthbound, super mario rpg, and chrono trigger, snes emulation is extremely common. it’s how most people get to play these games nowadays because of nintendo’s own failure to provide alternate means of play through legal methods. it’s how i got to play super mario rpg all those years ago! through an emulator! yes, i’m a filthy fucking pirate! yo ho ho, bitch, try some fucking grog and sing a fucking shanty with me, because we’re going plundering for nintendo’s tasty treasures.
you know what that means, by the way? the sales for smrpg on the snes DO NOT COUNT AS THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE PLAYED THE GAME. WOW, FUCKING SHOCKING, RIGHT? HOW ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO GOT IT ON VC? THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SNES CLASSICS? THE PEOPLE WHO PIRATED THE GAME? THERE ARE A BUNCH OF THEM. YOU ACTUAL BUFFOONS. HOW DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT. ARE YOU LIVING THAT FAR INTO YOUR INFESTED UNWASHED ASS THAT U CAN’T REALIZE THAT. LMAOOOOO HOW IS UR IQ GOING BEING IN THE SINGLE DIGITS
oh, but none of that matters, right? people who like geno still never played the game because i said so, therefore they deserve to have people going out of their way to their smrpg fan content, to their social media, and to FUCKING DOXXING PEOPLE because they like a video game character!! death threats? wanting to literally smother, gas, or set fire to people who have a preference for a non-problematic video game character? TOTALLY OKAY! if it was just about morons being morons, i wouldn’t even be this hateful and spiteful, but it’s gone so above and beyond that to the point that these people deserve nothing but having their asscheeks devoured by their local alaskan bullworm. go back to snorting your own fecal matter and getting high off of your own farts, you filthy neckbeards. maybe your lives are the ones who should be re-evaluated as being ‘wastes of oxygen’ if you’re making death threats OVER A VIDEO GAME CHARACTER.
this is why i hate the smash fan base. no, i don’t hate smash fans, obviously. i’m in the rpc and i know a lot of smash fans. i love them dearly. however, the general fan base is a toxic wasteland and a lot of this behavior is either overlooked or normalized. this is the same fan base that allowed grooming of minors to run rampant for so long, after all. this is the same fan base full of mouth-breathers who want nasty art of underage smash fighters and make it by the tons. it’s the same one full of some of the horniest, pathetic turbo-incels i’ve ever seen. the fact that i hate the smash fan base more than HOMESTUCK’S should speak volumes. it’s REVOLTING. leave me the fuck alone, i’m a mario rpg fan and not a part of your fucking fan base. i want nothing to do with y’all, so stop seeking me out just to cry and moan because i like a video game character you don’t like. you fucking freaks.

miscellaneous Ikenfell thoughts now that I've finished it (minus some side content)
i am So So So Loving this emerging trend of RPGs with turn based combat that doesn't suck- first it was Indivisible and now Ikenfell, there's probably others I haven't played yet
with that said, the penalty for missing a block entirely felt Way too steep and I wound up turning on the semi-assist option because losing 1/3rd of anyone's health to A Literal Bee was kind of not fun
everything about the Pertisia and Safina drama/intrigue was like. so well done? i can't think of a more narrative-appropriate, fulfilling turnaround for a "character you're meant to dislike" to "beloved party member" in an RPG. even Chrono Trigger and Indivisible kind of dropped the ball there with Magus and Dhar respectively
Radegund was the coolest and I will die on that hill
I 200% expected the twist with Perty to be "Perty is trans and had Ima use zir magic to help her pass" when the scene between her and Ima happened, though either way I still get Big Trans Vibes from her
also just Everything about Ima was fucking cool, like the artist that did zir song is literally an afrofuturism rapper with a Metroid aesthetic that was also a teacher
generally speaking all the LGBT rep was exactly of the sort we need more of: nobody is surprised/weirded out that Gilda is crushing on Maritte, nobody pumps the brakes on the plot to be confused by Petronella or Ima's pronouns For The Audience's Sake, there's no weird anything about Gilda and Safina being bisexual, etc.
also: healthy portrayal of a breakup between two women? wlw in general not portrayed as like, predatory or weird? We Love To See It
Radegund 😳

The Best Retro And Mini Console Gifts
“Retro,” “Mini,” and “Classic” consoles are the bee’s knees this holiday season, with notable offerings from Nintendo, Sony, and (sort of) others. But which one is the best?
There’s a pretty clear standout among the current crop of officially-licensed mini-consoles, and it’s no spoiler to say that it’s the Super NES Classic. But there are a few other options you should consider, especially if you (or your gift recipient) are unimpressed with the limited and non-expandable selection of games in these devices. A premium remade “clone” that plays original cartridges, or a device that runs emulators and nigh-unlimited game ROM files, might make a better choice for some gamers.
Before we dive in, be aware of a recent development: Nintendo recently announced they will be discontinuing the NES and SNES Classic after this holiday season. If you want to pick one up (and you don’t want to pay outrageous scalper-level prices for one a few months from now), now is the time to do so.
The Best Retro Console: Nintendo Super NES Classic Edition ($80)
The NES Classic may have started off this craze, but going all the way back to the 80s might cause a bit of gaming jet lag. The older 8-bit games, with their extremely simple graphics, sounds, and two-button control schemes, haven’t aged as well in reality as they might have in your memory.
The SNES Classic is the way to go. Not only are the Super Nintendo games featured in its collection much more palatable than the older NES games, it’s an overall better group. Timeless Nintendo classics like Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Mario Kart, and Donkey Kong Country are joined by third-party all stars like Mega Man X, Street Fighter II, and Super Castlevania IV. The SNES’s rich RPG legacy is also honored, with Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy III, and Secret of Mana, but Chrono Trigger is an unfortunate no-show. Star Fox 2, an SNES sequel that was developed but never released, gets a world premiere on this new hardware. Naturally, the SNES Classic plays all of these games over HDMI, and there are some excellent accessories offered for the hardware, too.
Nintendo’s classic offering is getting the nod over the PlayStation Classic. Sony’s entry has some serious technical issues since some games run slowly due to PAL ROMs. While there are some standout titles in the PS Classic like Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid, it doesn’t have the wall-to-wall greats that Nintendo’s hardware does.
But the most unfortunate fact is that the early 32-bit 3D era has simply aged poorly: the low-resolution, low-framerate, and low-polygon visuals aren’t as clear or as appealing as the 16-bit sprites on the SNES games. It wasn’t until the PS2 era that 3D graphics on consoles really started to shine, while the Super Nintendo was the pinnacle of 2D console gaming. Plus, many of the PS Classic titles are available to play on the PS3 and PS4, which isn’t true with the SNES Classic and Nintendo Switch.
This is the one you probably shouldn’t get.

So my husband has been replaying Chrono Cross. I’m not sure what bee got in his bonnet to make him want to replay it, but we had to go buy a used PS3, a whole TV, a controller, set up the PS3 with my account so he could buy the game on PSN.
He’s spent the last week or so playing it and the last few days just bitching about it. Just... angry at so many of the aspects of the design, because he’s trying to experience it as a developer, I guess.
He’s never played Chrono Trigger, so he doesn’t get to experience the same frustrations about it touting itself as a Trigger continuation as I do. And, in some ways, having that connection to Trigger makes Cross even worse. If it were its own property, it would be pretty awful on its own, but now its relation to Trigger has to be considered.
Like, the combat is complicated. It has nothing to do with Trigger except for a bunch of tacked on Techs. There’s health but no MP. You have Stamina that you use on physical attacks to build some sort of tech level bar that allows you access to the tech grid where you can only use one spell that you have equipped once.
Then there’s the 4billion characters in the roster. Because there are so many, they end up all being either shallow or having nothing to do with the story. They serve no purpose other than to add a person to your party. They could very well be references to Trigger characters or stories or something, but most of the time, it’s just Here’s a bunnygirl that you acquire through means that have nothing to do with the story and her abilities have nothing to do with the means that you acquire her. She serves no purpose to whatever the story is trying to be and has nothing to say about anything that’s going on.
World map is small and has no relation to Trigger other than constantly mentioning that there is a mainland outside of the collection of islands accessible to you. And you can only traverse it by canoe.
All the music suits the geography, but it’s all annoying as piss. Unless it’s the Trigger remixes/reorchestrations or whatever. Those are fine. Because that music is great.
We haven’t gotten far enough and my husband doesn’t remember much about the story past a certain point, so we can’t really say much about it yet. But... The game starts you out in the middle of a thing, then it shows you a disjointed cutscene as a stinger, then you wake up and it was a dream of things to come. That’s all fine. But once you get back to that point in the story, it shows you that scene like 400 more times. In succession. Like REMEMBER THIS CRAZY THING. IT’S ABOUT TO HAPPEN AGAIN. HERE IT COMES, IT’LL HAPPEN LIKE THIS. CHECK IT OUT, ISN’T IT WILD. NOW YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT HAPPEN AGAIN. Like, okay. Why? Why show it to me 5 times?
Anyway. Chrono Cross. Not a great Chrono Trigger sequel. Not a great game on its own.
