Fire, Ice, and Zucchinis

Cole gives Bonnie a shoulder massage at work as they talk about relationships.

Bonnie had been rolling her shoulders every thirty seconds for the past twenty minutes, so Cole stood up. "Here, let me massage your shoulders. You're gonna get a tension headache."

"I already am getting one, but thanks."

"Case that bad?"

They usually worked the same cases together, but today Bonnie was working with Mal while Cole was on Harper-duty. Well, technically. They were currently conducting interviews, while she was doing research of her own on the case. Well, she had been.

"Ugh, you would think that this would be an open-and-shut case of copyright infringement between Captain Miracle and Miss Miracle, but nope! Given all the time and dimension travel, it's hard to parse out a timeline to see who came up with the name and logo first. I'd be tempted to lock them in a closet together, but the last person who tried ended up in the hospital so it's not like either of them are interested in a joint relationship."

"No wonder you have a headache, time travel always gives me one."

Bonnie sighed. "At least it's going away, somewhat. A little lower, please?"

Cole moved her hands down Bonnie's shoulder blades. "I'd say it's too bad that people don't work as well as we do, but then we'd be out of a job."

Bonnie bit her lip and swallowed. "Babe, there's something I've been meaning to ask you. About us."

"Oh? Shoot."

"I think we should make our relationship official."

Cole's hands stopped moving. "Oh? Is this the 'we should get married because that way there's no question about being each other's next of kin' talk?"

"I mean, sure, eventually, but not yet. I've been thinking. Do you like the label of queerplatonic? For us?"

"I'm not aromantic."

"I know. I'm not coming out as aro, either, 'cause I'm not. Queerplatonic isn't an aro-only term! It's just that the term does describe us, and I'd like something more significant than 'roommates', if only to quickly tell people just how much you matter to me."

Cole stayed silent as she went back to massaging Bonnie's shoulders. Quietly, gently, reverently she spoke. "I'd like that."
