Remember how I was squawking about stupid tourists and locals who should know better? This is a bore tide.
Full video is 3 minutes long but I'm aware of what attention spans look like these days. The tide is something like 28 feet today and it all comes in at once.
The epic #TurnagainArm … Boasts the second strongest tidal forces in North America just behind the Bay of Fundy. Changes in its water level during the shifting of tides can be as great as 40 feet, resulting in a natural wave phenomena known as bore-tiding. Be sure to arrive @ #belugapoint a few hours ahead of a full tide to catch a chance of seeing an extreme surfer ride the wave!🏄♀️ 🌊 Or, if you’re up for it, climb Rainbow Peak too (location of picture). Just another epic #Anchorage #Alaska #Adventure #visitanchorage #travelalaska #boretide #hikealaska #gohikealaska #chugachstatepark #alaskastateparks #hiking #adventures #adventuretime #hikersofinstagram #landscapes #beauty (at Turnagain Arm) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSM33b-n_wi/?utm_medium=tumblr

Twenty-three miles south of Anchorage on the Seward Highway, the first glimpse of Froth & Forage’s turquoise roof comes two mountainside highway curves ahead of the restaurant’s gravel parking. Though the weathered wood building looks like the barbecue shack it was in…

Saw some guys doing this outside of Anchorage a couple years ago. I’ve been fascinated by this chill past time. The waves in this video last up to 20 mins. They are known to carry the surfers for miles!
