Stop one on the #BurnDownRiseUpBronxTour // #booklocationtour: @HydeBronx High School.  Reposted from @artistwriterstudio.  Despite the author’s annoyance at all the school rules, Hyde High School ultimately plays a large role in the book.  Schools in this country are not safe for students so reading about #schoolasmetaphor for a #safeplace in this book is refreshing. Here are some references through the book: "Hyde High School was know for giving lunch detentions for even the smallest infractions....." pg 8 "Hyde High School was new. In fact, it was the only newly built school in the Bronx, as none were erected in the last 50 years, or so I've been told. It's a medium-sized building with light grey stones and polished windows.....my eyes fell on the dean, who was making her rounds in checking adherence to uniform and other minor behavioral issues. Hyde was a charter school, so it had the luxury of making up new rules almost every year that we would either deal with or push against." pg 15 “If the school was safe, then there was no way the Echo would let us get to it.” p. 271  “She quietly led us to the side exit of the school.
