WIP Wednesday (2/28) | Guardian Angel Neil AU (Part 126)

“You’ve been to Hell.” Andrew says, imagining Neil surrounded by fire or lava or whatever. He bets that sort of glow would look good on Neil.

“It was a joke,” Neil clarifies. “My whole life just sucked massively. That’s what I meant. It’s not like I actually met Satan.”

“How fortunate for him.” 

Neil sighs. “Shut up.”

“Fine.” Andrew shrugs. “Well, go on. You’re not sure you ever saw Heaven…”

“I don’t know what else to tell you. I mean, after Mom… I was on my own. Things got worse and worse. Then finally he— I, uh, died. Everything went dark, then it was so bright I couldn’t see. Huh. Maybe that was Heaven. It’s not like I thought to ask, I was really just grateful it was over—” Neil cuts off and turns to give Andrew a look. “Wait. Why are we talking about me?”

Andrew plucks a piece of lint off his shirt and tosses it into the breeze. It doesn’t go very far before landing between them. He shrugs. “I’m just curious about you.”

“Why?” Neil asks, distaste clear in his tone. “I’m boring.”

Andrew blinks. Is he serious?
