Jack x Kate for the ship game

ourgh CONTROVERSY AWAITS. I don't like them. I won't say at all even though in my mind I think "not at all" LMAO. actually unpopular opinion i think they're even worse for each other than kate/sawyer 😭😭 Now, I still like and reblog jate content sometimes because as a lost fan there's not that much content, and I love them both separately, (though Jack's my #1 and Kate's.....nowhere near that) but as a ship....no thanks. They have their moments, like Pilot. Now elaborating on the worse than skate comment, I think that's pretty obvious from on island behavior as is. Kate plays with Jack's feelings and Sawyer's, and I know that's because she's confused herself but i HATE THAT trait in a person. it's just mean to the other people because you can't figure your shit out. Like she's fucking Sawyer then she's all pissy that Jack even BREATHES around Juliet. Sawyer sums it up perfectly with "You'll get pissed at Jack and bounce right back to me" (paraphrasing probably but you remember the quote lol). Also, off island is terrible. Jack's trust issues from his previous relationships are always an issue, and Kate's basically the worst person because of this exact reason. I know she doesn't want to tell Jack what she's doing for Sawyer, but god, throw him a bone like "I'm doing something he asked me to," BEFORE it seemed like she was hiding something/cheating on him. I don't like how Jack responded to this, but I think he was drunk? which tracks with Stranger in a Strange Land etc. Plus he's coming home from that weird vision of Christian. As far as we see from Jack, he's falling apart and Kate's track record of lying is throwing gas to a fire. Also her "I've always been with you" kind of pissed me off a bit, because....you most certainly have not Katherine 😭!!!! Anyway....I think Kate turned to Jack because she admired him straight from the pilot to the end, because he always does the right thing. Which she throws at him "I'm not perfect, like you." And I think Jack seeks her out because she's not perfect, like him in his eyes. There's also that mystery aspect to her at first, she keeps him on his toes, and he admires her courage. I think they're way better as friends, but far from the best duo on the show romantically or platonically.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

118 as of this morning but I think five of those are drabble collections.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

2,271,105 😭

3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

5– JAG, Harm/Mac; NCIS, Tony/Ziva; FNL, Tim/Lyla; LOST, Sawyer/Kate; and my OTP of all OTPs, GoT, Jon/Dany

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Yes, I try to respond to most every comment unless it’s something mean and then I usually delete because I don’t need that drama.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I don’t usually end with angst but that would have to be 100% my fic life or death. Spoiler Alert: Jon Dies. 💀

7. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Basically all of them 🤣 But I think the one that had me smiling so much after finishing it was silent shadows because they went through so much and were so content.

8. Do you write crossovers? If yes, what’s the craziest thing you’ve written?

Nah, I stick with one fandom at a time and don’t mix the two. I do sometimes “crossover” universes from my fics though, see “Nights Watch Ranger Force” 🤣

9. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yup. Usually in fics when Dany has potentially had a lover other than Jon but I delete those comments and don’t usually engage. It isn’t worth it. The trolls go away when they don’t get attention.

10. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Um yes? 😭 I write both M and E smut and it’s pretty tame compared to what’s out there.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

No, but I’ve been accused by five authors in the Jonerys fandom of stealing fics and fic ideas. Newsflash, a moodboard teasing a fic set with horses doesn’t mean I stole from a fic also set with horses. Now I did have someone start a fic with a Khal Jon and say they did it because of mine but that’s not stealing and I really didn’t care.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No but I have been asked by a few people if they could translate my fics into Chinese and at the time I said no because I couldn’t be sure it would be translated accurately and my words could be attributed to something else. Now I think I wouldn’t mind as much.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

My boo @nlights37 and I are writing a fic together that broke the fandom when we teased it but it’s on the backburner now. We just aren’t feeling up to writing anything canon. 🤣

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

Jonerys. They’re my babies. Plus all my other ones ended in various stages of on and off screen dumpster fires. But at least with Jonerys I felt compelled to keep writing.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I took down a good kind of madness because I was worried I might not finish it and didn’t want people asking. I still worry I won’t but I don’t ever want to leave a fic abandoned. 😞

16. What’s your writing strengths?

Description I think. I see it clearly in my head and it’s easy to write down.

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

Dialogue (banter, really) and smut and humor. 😂 I’m not good with them. I also think I am way too wordy. I also don’t know how great I am with characterization I feel they’re not well rounded.

18. What’s your thought on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?

I think it’s fine so long as you have the translation seamlessly written in. I don’t like it when people have the language and then the translation in brackets or parentheses because it messes with the flow. A few words here or there are good anf then I usually have someone translate it verbally or the other character infers and knows it. Like when Dany calls Jon “my king” in Valyrian in my fics, he figures what it means and repeats it in his head.

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

JAG, when I was 13 and FF.net had just been created and blogs were still hosted on geocities and angelfire. 😭

20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

They’re all my babies and I love them all in super special ways but I think it would have to be silent shadows and maybe when the sun sets in the east. I also really enjoying writing fighting the wind, which not many read but I don’t mind.
