a while ago, I had been joking around with a friend about the idea of a shonen hero who's like all about the power of friendship and draws strength from their friend group, but their friend group is made up of minor antagonists, and now that I've watched it, I've realized the show I was looking for was mob psycho. That's literally just what mob's friend group is like.

Is it possible to request relationship headcanons for shigeo kageyama? Gender neutral
OFC!! Sorry if it seems a bit ooc!
Have mercy on poor shiego! Ever since you and him have started dating he can’t seem to look at you in the eyes!
Hes such a blushing mess and its so obvious! Walking home together, hanging out for lunch at school, just even texting hes so red! He can’t believe he has someone that loves him as much as he loves them!
Mob trys to get used to hand holding but he gets so nervous, hes scared that you don’t want to hold hands ir anything. You are gonna have to initiate it.
Mob was also scared of telling s/o that he was a psychic that he kinda avoided you a whole day. But after some scolding from his master he have in and decided to tell you.
His eyes sparkled when s/o said that no matter what they will support him! Its like he fell in love again.
He tries his best to not make you bored! He would ask you questions and even ask to play simple board games. Hes always trying to get on your good side, hes afraid that something he does will anger you.
He shows you what he can do with his powers if you ask. Hes willing to do it if it make you happy! He even tries new things to impress them. Finding cats you can pet, shows you around the city while floating or even flying!
Because of sole purpose he doesnt want you to be in trouble so he doesnt want you to come whenever he has work. He wants you protected but there are times that even HE needs protecting. He only allows you to come with him to work if dimple is going to keep watch over you.
Mob craves PDA, he just doesnt voice it. Simple things like head pats, hugs, hand holding, forehead kisses, he wants them all! But hes so shy he cannot see himself engage in physical affection. But what he can do is give you words. Hes not afraid to tell them that they are an amazing person, a lovable one.
If your ever in danger he’s always somehow there. Sometimes when mob feels prideful, whenever he saves you he carries you princess style. Most of the time he carries you with his powers.
He is willing to share his strawberry milk with you if you promise to share yours too. He also sometimes buys you small snacks to go with it.
Mob seems the type to take longer for first kisses, as he feels like he needs fo be emotionally prepared. First kisses dont show up until later into the relationship. Small peaks tho. He still finds kisses intimidating. Once again you’re gonna have to initiate that with consent.
DIMPLE APPROVAL DIMPLE APPROVAL! Dimple approves of both of you. Dimple says that you calm mon down while mob calms you down! Dimple says its a win win!
You guys have sleepovers. Most of the time you are at his house to comfort or to help him study but ends up in you sleeping over at his house.
He has you as “s/o” on his phone(😭)
He knows when you’re awake and sends you texts telling you to go to sleep! He truly cares for you and your health.
Thats all that came to mind! Sorry if theres some spelling errors.

Poor, Lonely Whitey
Reigen’s lasting affect on Mob can be seen throughout the series, one of the more famous, the analogy of not pointing knives at someone ie psychic powers. However he points a knife at Mob emotionally— and is thus left behind.
This is an analysis of Reigen’s actions and behaviors, specifically in Season II, Episode 6, and why he would lash out on Mob the way he does.
TLDR: reigen projects onto mob the feelings he has about not being enough and lonely and depressed and manipulated, and when that fails he bottles it up and pretends to move on
First off, I’m so proud of Mob for sticking up for himself. He had a great time this episode with his friends!!! But when Reigen says “Grow up for crying out loud!... I’m one of the biggest reasons you’re able to control your powers!”
Reigen invalidates all the progress we’ve seen Mob making. We open after the title sequence seeing Mob do the most push ups he has— that’s his progress! Yet, Reigen pulls him away from the friends he holds dear and tries to make him think that the Reigen Savior Trope is a reality.
But it’s not. And thus, Reigen is alone again.
Throughout this episode, I believe one thing is made clear: how hard his depression hits him. Depression isn’t always crying at night, constantly crying “woe is me!” It can also be apathy. Exciting new events can just feel.. mundane.
Tumblr media
You would think leaving a crappy job and starting a business would be exciting. He appears rather bored and to have rented the place without a plan. This makes it clear he wanted a change from the repetitivity white collar work has.
Tumblr media
But we’re seeing that this cool, fun, psychic job... isn’t that. It’s repetitive. We’ve seen these scenes— it nearly plays frame by frame the same.*
*note: the manga shows us during this arc how he’s about to close spirits and such down-- and that its bc of mob that he doesnt. its bc of mob he doesnt hate his job *
This shows us how Reigen feels— that each day plays out the same, no matter what adventures await. This is a common feeling of depression.
And now he has no one. He knows this, but he projects his negative feelings onto Mob. This is shown earlier, when he tells him that his friends are just using him. It’s also shown when he says:
“He shouldn’t have anyone he can talk to about his problems other than me. If he cuts ties with me, he’s going to end up alone again. There’s nothing to worry about. He’ll be back here. I know it. But I’m not sad about this at all.
Tumblr media
Obviously we see that Mob is, in fact, not lonely. He’s hanging out with his family and friends, using this opportunity to be with them. “If he cuts ties with me, he’s going to end up alone again.” Reigen seems to be referencing Mob. Yet, we know he was never REALLY alone. The story has been ABOUT his bonds with the people around him.
“He’s going to end up alone again” refers not to Mob, but to Reigen. The scene cuts to the night sky as Reigen says “you’re probably feeling pretty lonely right about now,” is another example of him projecting his own loneliness onto Mob.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the more direct show of his projection. Mob must be feeling awkward, he thinks, and instantly hides when he sees him.
He obnoxiously tells Dimple that “I hope you have fun following around a normal middle schooler!”
He knows that Mob really is just a normal kid, this is something he normally emphasizes with his rhetoric of no one being special and everyone having their own abilities. He wants to be around Mob again, but he lets his pride get in the way.
Why does he project onto Mob this way?
He doesn’t want to admit it. He is lonely and depressed. But he’s a business owner, he’s getting more popular among clientele, he’s 28! It’s the prime of his life! He should be feeling great.
His identity of a business man affects his whole life.
Tumblr media
The first thing he does when he gets home after work is... work. He has nothing else to do, and no one to see.
But he’s supposed to be in his prime.
This idealism is quickly shattered on his birthday.
It starts with him logging onto FaceBook (FriendBook) and realizing that it’s his birthday. No one has wished him a happy day.
But then his mom does! Yay! Except... she’s telling him to hurry up and get married, and her so-called present to him is a link. A link to a flyer about a job, a “real” job, the very white collar job Reigen hates.
As he reads it, we don’t see his face, at all.
Tumblr media
This is a very clever tactic by the narrative. His previously forced optimism and the mask he puts up, is shattered here. But we don’t get to see that. We can’t see his reaction— just him scrolling.
All we are allowed to see is his hand tremble as he reads.
Tumblr media
After this, he decides it’s time to go to a bar. He’s not particularly excited it, as he describes the people there as the type to fall for pyramid schemes and cults.
He says it’s perfect for him. In the context of that, it’s because he’s a smooth talker, and they’re attracted to him because he helps them with all their problems.
Tumblr media
Strange thing to say about the place you and your friends go.
He tells his supposed friends that it’s his birthday. He gets (somewhat awkward) well wishes. A woman there almost immediately begins to try and sell him a pillow, since it’s his birthday!
He realizes...
Tumblr media
He aims to change himself after this. What’s changed? The narrative is sneaky in showing him getting even more popular and doing well with clients.
But when you think about it, nothing has changed. The feelings he previously projected are just now bottled. He didn’t want to acknowledge it, and after a horrible birthday where he DID, he shoves it away.
He’s still doing the same jobs. He’s still alone, only helping and offering advice to people as contact. He says he wants to “become somebody”, even though he already WAS. But he can’t say that. And now he’s forced away the company that made him happier.
And episode 7 will only make him feel worse.

Okay so like. Just got to the latest episode.
Drowning in tears,
Also I love Reigen he believes in Mob with all his strength,,,,,and like,,,,,he c a r e s s o damn much like. Holy Fuck. I'll never be over episode 3.
Or 4 and 5! I mean, that crying scene? Like. Detailed as fuck. It's not that noticeable, but there's extra quality in that scene. And the fight scenes! Damn! And then theres ???%. We wont be forgetting about that any time soon.
And then there's Mob. Oh, my baby, he's grown so much. Im so proud of him, and when he hit 100%? Full on emotions, hiding nothing. Hopefully, he'll feel more free about feeling emotions in general after this. And maybe we'll see Minori-that's her name, right?-again. Not likely, but I thought she seemed pretty cool. And maybe she'll be nicer now.
Also, minor detail, but can I say I love seeing Mob in everyday clothing? In my opinion, its always exciting seeing characters in something other than their school uniforms.
And Reigen. I know, minor stuff, but he's really good at deception. Like. He seemed to entirely believe the girl and then reveals he didn't trust her at all! And he could see through her perfectly, unlike literally everyone else there. (Except maybe Mob, but I think he fell for it too.)
Oh, and Episode 3 again! Everyone came to his rescue at such short notice, and it warmed my heart. Ritsu just immediately going in for the kill. Hah. Y'know, hes just like Teru in the way that hes nice to people he likes but can turn on a dime if he dislikes you. Its just a bit less...intense of hate with Ritsu. He leaves it to glares and silent hatred. But I just love how everyone showed up to help him. Hell, even Dimple! Probably to show us and him just how good of a life he had in preparation for the next two episodes. That and the 'you should use your powers for yourself' message, which is also foreshadowing. That and it just went with the whole theme of Mob questioning himself, and how he uses his powers. Especially considering Ritsu uses them against people pretty freely.
Man. So much can happen in just a few episodes. I mean, this is even kinda crazier than that whole Scar organization thing, since that just ended with Reigen taking the reins. Again, showing how Mob has people to help him, and how he's not on his own. Maybe to show him that he doesnt have to hide his emotions away, since he has people to keep him tied to sanity? Hmm. And I wonder if there's going to be anymore problems with Ritsu, since he holds nothing back. Or does he keep it back enough? Maybe Mob can learn from him a bit, since it's obvious Mob doesnt hold himself above Ritsu. I still love that theres almost no hierarchy between them now, although Ritsu probably still looks up to Mob.
And I'm always going to love how genuine Mob is about everything. It's nice, since there are so many people and characters out there who aren't. Hell, I know nothing about my own anything these days. Everyone relies on other people for their own veiws, and thats why isolation makes us go insane. We have no veiw of ourselves anymore. No feedback. And while Mob improves himself through peoples words and criticisms (like not being emotional enough) he doesnt let it affect his values, or his decisions, and I love that about him.
Anyways. This was long. Sorry for the rant/analysis thing, but I'll be off. Maybe I'll do one of these after rewatching the Scar arc again, since that was so insane. At the time I finished it, I knew nothing about the fandom and had to know more, so I wasnt really focused on analyzing it, but maybe in the future. Anyways. See ya!
(And then there's the fight with Teru; that was pretty big...)
