Something I noticed while swapping around clothes, is that besides the very obvious scars Wyll has on his face he also has
a big nasty scar that seems to run from one side of his stomach up to his right arm
one mark that looks like maybe a stab wound on the left side of his chest
various little scars on his back and also on the right side of his chest (which all kinda look like claw marks to me)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wondering what the stories behind those are. With the claw marks I'm always thinking Mizora because we know Wyll has disobeyed her orders before and clawing up his skin as punishment seems like something she would do. Don't know about the other two but they would've been really bad wounds from the locations on his body alone but also how deep they would've been to leave scars like that...

Friday Feature: June 4, 2021
Tumblr media
Welcome to the Friday Feature, where every Friday I feature a different Fanfic Writer’s blog. This week’s Feature Blog is:
Link to Masterlist
About the Author:
My name’s MJ. I’ve been writing fic most of my life (started in the 80s with passing notebooks with friends) in multiple fandoms. I’ve posted works for BTVS/Angel, Twilight, TWD, SPN, MCU, and varied real person fics. I’m a Capricorn, queer, she/her, married, dog + cat mom, witch, Gen X — how many other labels can I cram in here?It took me far too long to find my way to Dean Winchester (started watching on Netflix in 2016) and I’m in denial of 15.20 except the domesticity. 🐶
Tumblr media
Author’s Fave Personal Fics:
Wait Till My Brother Gets Home
Summary: She wants to lose control and Sam knows just what she needs in order to do it.
Why the author likes this fic:
I love writing Winchester threesomes. I’m obsessed with comparing and contrasting them. I’ve written several (as well as a J2 poly series) and every time I’m able to find a new facet that I didn’t think about before. With this fic, I tapped into a sort of ephemeral yet languid, dreamy state of absolute decadence. It’s not a love story, but it’s still intimate and I fell in love with the brothers all over again writing this!
Triptych
Summary: Dean’s on a case and meets two beautiful women. One of them is recently divorced and the new couple invite Dean to help them kick-off their new life together.
Why the author likes this fic:
As much as I love the dynamic of threesomes and polyamory, I’ve mostly written MMF! This came from a prompt when I still had a Patreon. I love the relationship between the women and how they trust Dean. The way he unfurled in my mind under the premise of giving these women something they wanted was really beautiful and fun to write!
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Summary: In the books, Soldier Boy calls out the names of US states when he fights. What if live-action Soldier Boy made his sex partners list all 50 states and the federal district in alphabetical order before he lets them come, and if they slip up or pause for too long or say anything other than the name of a state in the correct order, he withholds and makes them start over?
Why the author likes this fic:
I wrote this last year without any idea what to expect from Jensen’s Soldier Boy, but man was it fun to imagine! I’m a big fan of power exchanges and orgasm denial/delay kind of fascinates me. Writing out something as you imagine how it feels is kind of a head trip! Still not sure quite what to expect from Soldier Boy when he finally graces our screens, but I’ll always love this one regardless.
Discord & Rhyme
Summary: The demon is on the prowl.
Why the author likes this fic:
Like many people, I love Demon Dean. I love watching him, reading about him, talking about him, writing about him — you get the picture. I also love writing erotic horror and Demon Dean is prime material for that. This was a bingo square for 2019 kink bingo #scent kink and I went a little crazy with the sensory experience but I swear to god it’s like a 5-course meal or something.
Seasons
Summary: She is his safe haven, untouched by his world.
Why the author likes this fic:
Every time I think of Dean Winchester my first reaction is :dreamy sigh:, second is :KEYSMASH:, last is :VIOLENT SOBBING:. He deserves everything good and right in the world and I want to give it to him whenever I can. While this fic gets a little angsty in spots, it’s just to round it all out, make it feel a little more real — nothing’s perfect, but wouldn’t normal be great for him? I loved creating a world where he could disappear if only for a few hours.

Author’s Fic Recommendations:
Dear Mr. Fantasy by @itmighthavebeenintentional
Summary: Sometimes when he sleeps, Dean sees flashes of other Dean Winchesters, in other universes.
Why the author likes this fic:
This is another one of those Dean deserves everything good and right fulfillments. Val is a vivid and loving storyteller and this 2k word snapshot of an alternate universe Dean Winchester as a devoted husband, aging gracefully and content (if even for the recent, confusing dreams) is like a wooby. It’s achy and soft and swoony and heart wrenching all at once. As a Ride Or Die Dean girl, I am always awed by Val’s characterization of Dean. This is just so gorgeous.
Envy by @there-must-be-a-lock
Summary: One of the seven deadly sins featuring snippets of a dying dream.
Why the author likes this fic:
I love every word that Lou chooses to grace us with so it wasn’t a simple task to choose one of the many, but this is exquisite and unexpected. There are very few writers who can craft beauty around such dark content, but Lou’s able to do that with care and flourish. This is terrifying and sexy and dramatic in a way that takes my breath away with each read.
Look, About Last Night by @littlegreenplasticsoldier
Summary: You and Dean have an excellent hunt and you go out and get drunk and “celebrate”. It’s a disaster, but neither of you remember it, so I graciously fill you in on that and then sit back to watch Dean lose his shit.
Why the author likes this fic:
Ali is so fucking funny. This wasn’t the first of hers that I read, but it’s the one I randomly think about when I’m in line at the City Market and burst into laughter, embarrassing myself and scaring the shit out of the cashier. Seriously, it’s hysterical — until it’s suddenly very, very hot. Like toe-curling sexy, spot-on characterization, witty and hilarious dialogue. Just read it. lollllll
Dutiful by @stusbunker
Summary: ‘It wasn’t that he needed to touch her, it was just that he knew what his hands could do to those thighs. It wasn’t about him, sure they would be smooth and thick in his hands, but that wasn’t why he kept staring. She needed something and he could give it to her.’
Why the author likes this fic:
Stu’s been coming for my soul since 2019 and I’m not mad about it. Her turns of phrase are breathtaking, insightful, and sexy. Her characterizations ring true and are full of color. This fic holds the trademark edge of desperation, fight or flight, like much of Stu’s work and it’s beautifully claustrophobic. I find myself scrolling right back to the top sometimes after reading it because I don’t know what else to do with myself. It’s fucking fantastic.
The Things We Lost In The Fire by @lastactiontricia
Summary: What does it really take to survive in SPN Land? What does it take to survive Dean?
Why the author likes this fic:
This is a dark, beautiful mind-fuck. Trasha is one of the most generous creators I’ve experienced. Her words and rhythm are utterly unique and magical. This fic comes with warnings to be sure. It’s a beguiling What If..., a wild ride, and you won’t think about Dean Winchester the same way after reading it.

I just finished DBH and Im seriously so in love with it! But when I came on Tumblr, all I could find is all this content around Gavin, and Im just so confused, because he seemed like such a jerk in the game. Why are people so into Gavin? Did I miss something?
Hi there!
First off, allow me to welcome you to the fandom!
In regards to Gavin: you literally did not miss anything; he is absolutely a one dimensional jerk in game!
Its important we make a distinction here between fanon Gavin and canon Gavin. You’ll find the fandom is incredibly divided - a lot of people adore him, a lot of people hate him. The reason for disliking him is understandable, of course - there’s a slew of incredible and well rounded characters in dbh (North, Luther, Kara…) that are swept under the rug in favour of a veritable avalanche of content for rat man reed. He has 14 minutes of screen time in which literally all he does is antagonize and threaten the player. But people have to understand, when someone says they love Gavin, they mean fanon Gavin. I don’t think theres a single person that is actually a canon Gavin stan.
Keeping that in mind, you also have to take into account the drop off - at this point, the only people still left/creating content in the fandom are generally the ones that are balls deep and clinging to the headcanons, au’s, etc. that they’ve built with friends. This applies heavily to Gavin for reasons discussed below. Additionally, the algorithms for sites like tumblr and instagram won’t recommend old posts; old posts don’t show up in tags. Artists with a lot of clout that have since moved on from the fandom’s work have basically disappeared into the void (rebelflet, for example). So it may seem like there’s only content of Gavin / Gavin ships, but in reality there’s a ton of jericrew and Kara crew out there from when the fandom was still new / bigger - you just have to know where to look.
So… why do people like Gavin… I mean, it helps that canonically he has beefy tiddies, a cool bad boy jacket, and a pretty face at certain angles.
That being said, I think one of the biggest reasons Gavin (and RK900, by extension) are so popular is that they aren’t well rounded, fleshed out characters. Because we don’t really know anything about them and they have minimal screen time, they’re easy to project on or to add onto, and no one can tell you that you’re wrong because there’s no evidence against it. It’s almost like a universally shared OC that the fandom has developed together. Since they have no canon backstory, and in rk900’s case, no canon personality, it allows for a lot of creative freedom and the ability to explore character interactions, foils, and growth within the dbh universe. The growth aspect, I think, in conjunction with the projection aspect, is key point for the popularity. It tends to be fairly formulaic. Take the canonical asshole Gavin, stick him with an android - whether its RK900 as his partner or Connor as a coworker. Have him come to care for the RK model, and deal with his own insecurities (and usually a traumatic past, the flavor of which might depend on the creator’s own life struggles). Repent, redeem, grow. This redemption arc is the same exact vein of growth and change that makes Hank and Connor such an appealing partnership for players as well - only, in Gavin’s case, it allows for complete freedom in how to get from point a to point b. People like a character they can relate to - and when you can smack your own possible trauma (being an illegitimate child, having an abusive lover, abusive parents, abandonment fears, body insecurity, whatever it may be) on a character because they’re a blank slate, you relate to them and vent through them. Even little “silly” projections or projections that aren’t necessarily traumatic can make someone love a character even more - for example, “Gavin loves Hello Kitty,” “Gavin can’t handle spicy food,” “Gavin is Latino.” Even when the creator isn’t projecting, adding these kinds of headcanons make him a fleshed out, three dimensional character that people can relate to or empathize with, especially when giving his actions an explanation besides just fear of losing his job.
I came into the dbh fandom a little late; by the time I knew what it was, the hype had died down and reed900 was already a firmly cemented, heavily present part of the content. Given that, I’m not sure what its exact origins were, or if it seemingly popped up overnight. It could have been crack. My best guess is that people saw the positive change between Hank and Connor, and thought, “Hey, wouldn’t it be rad if we stuck the other Connor with the other dysfunctional DPD bastard?” . I admit, it makes a nice parallel, which may be part of the appeal in additional to the previous reasons. Speaking of those kinds of interpersonal relationships, there’s also a popular headcanon (that’s been mentioned/liked by d*vid c*ge himself) that Kamski and Gavin are siblings/half siblings/cousins. This stems from the fact that Kamski and Gavin are both mo-capped/voiced by the same actor. By taking this headcanon into account, it adds depth to Gavin’s hatred of androids and allows for interesting backstory exploration, growth, and reconciliation.
Another reason is the enemies-to-lovers trope. For a lot of people that trope really jimmies their neutrons, and what could be better than an android hater and an android to fit that cliche? Once again, analogous to hankcon. The angst potential is also incredible when you take convin or hankvin into account instead of reed900 - reading into Hank and Gavin’s interactions it would seem there’s a tumultuous past between them. And in Connor’s case, Gavin can actually kill him or he can KO Gavin, which allows for a good deal of enemies-to-lovers and angsty regret material. Besides, a lot of people are really into hate s*x.
That…. makes a good segway. I may as well mention the elephant in the room for Gavin’s popularity. There’s a culture of fetishizing abuse in fandoms and Gavin is a prime target for this because “”he’s asking for it.”” It’s also easy to make one character a psychopath when they don’t even have a canon personality. This shows up a lot, whether because of writers treating it as a kink in fanfic or artists using it as a gag because its “funny”. I… won’t really go into detail on this, but it is a phenomenon that adds to the slew of Gavin content. This is another reason for why a lot of people hate Gavin / hate reed900. I started out feeling this way as well. Their perception of it is coloured by the abusive stuff or the mishandled stuff that seems to be prominent. I just have to say that this blog is a safe, sane, and consensual zone.
Sorry, that was a really long breakdown but I hope that gives some insight into the Gavin phenomenon. Last point. He winks like a dumbass. How can you not love that face.

ooh, what would happen if _______ and (y/n) switched places? diz knocks on the door and meets a human who is surprised for maybe a second before they lean against the doorframe going "hey, big boy~" meanwhile edge has to survive the storm himself bc (y/n) is absolutely NOT gonna risk her life to help a scary tall man crying next to a dumpster... or maybe she pities him enough to try?-cruel anon
Oh, that’s interesting! At first, I thought what would happen if they switched places in current events (which would make both skellies Worried TM and Edge would be hellbent on fixing the issue) but now I get what you mean!
Let’s keep this under the line because it’s long and might be spoilery for the people who didn’t read the stuff yet.
If we stick to the Rules fanfics have - and remembering they’re ‘/Readers’ - this would mean in both situations the Readers would end up befriending and dating the respective skelly. That’s how the Reader Insert fanfics work, especially with the Readers being just semi-blank slates for the actual readers to connect to. But that would be the meta approach.
In the ‘let’s get real’ approach, it probably would end a little different.
The “Dumb” Reader is very curious of a widely rumored aggressive magical race of monsters and takes a risk by agreeing to be the fake friend. She is more paranoid and makes sure to approach the issue in a smart way, but that’s normal in the setting where monsters are deemed dangerous. She still wants to do this, probably hoping that the monster she met is more than he seems and she’s ultimately are right. There are bravery and caution there, mixed with kindness and curiosity. She’s more skittish but not a pushover. Besides, Papyrus is nice and tries to be not intimidating.
The “Thunderstruck” Reader is very open towards the monsters and humans alike but a little more ‘crazy’ and less paranoid. They help Edge right away because they see somebody in need and even when he barks at them, they see somebody who hides his childlike vulnerable fear behind anger and spiky attitude. That knowledge makes them not openly afraid of him from the very beginning but they still think he seems scary and intimidating - which is true.
Both those Readers end up helping the skellies by risking a little and both of them are kind towards them and try to set boundaries from the very beginning. But their personalities and backgrounds are different, right?
If both readers would switch place, I think it would go like this:
In “Dumb”, crazy Reader would befriend Papyrus right away and be like “come on in, pal, let’s not pretend, let’s be friends”. This would be much more stressful for Papyrus for various reasons: his past with ex-friends would trigger paranoia, he wouldn’t feel like he accomplished the friendship on his own and it would feel more fake at the beginning, and Sans would be way more aggressively protective, too. In the end, it would work, but it would be a very angsty road with a lot of miscommunication and repressed emotions. Papyrus would be actually forced out of his shell in some ways but we have to remember that crazy Reader still respects boundaries. It would be good in the end. In a way, I think. This Papyrus is a good boy who would do anything for the people he respects and loves and if this Reader would steal his heart, he would be with them and be happy to make them happy.
In “Thunderstruck”, the skittish Reader would have more trouble to befriend Edge. He would successfully scare them at the beginning and this would probably make his life harder with some police and lawsuits at the start :P It could trigger some more events, like visits at the court or an apology visit (enforced by our Ambassador) with flowers and stuff. But she wouldn’t have such an impact on him like the crazy Reader had. The problem is, there’s a chance Reader wouldn’t end up with Edge but with one of the other available skellies. Edge isn’t a prime boyfriend material at the beginning of the story and because of the skittish Reader’s background, she wouldn’t be interested in him romantically at all. She would be more likely to end up with Papyrus instead. (but who wouldn’t tbh???)
Hope that answers the question. If you have your own opinion about it, don’t be afraid to share! The asks are open!
