I love that Cithis/Pattadol from dungeon meshi really fit the Classic Romance Novel Archetype. Pattadol is the Naive but principled privileged young woman going on an adventure for the first time and Cithis is the Scoundrel who hates everything she represents and might bring Pattadol to reconsider her values and upbringing.

I like to think they have a tumultuous whirlwind romance that involve a lot of bodice ripping.

it's cithidol brainrot hours. cithis stepping on pattadols toes because mithrun is off doing mithrun shit and that stuck up aristocrat Is waaaay out of her depth in the field. but pattadol cant just let a filthy criminal take the wheel and she tells her off and threatens to bind her because shes misbehaving but really it's just because she can and cithis pisses her off so. fucking. much. and everytime cithis is like 'do it then if you have the guts' - which she usually does, cithis will give her that - and all the while shes savoring the moment she will get to kill her. but she never uses her illusions on patta because you see she will kill her with her bare hands and it will be a slow and painful and very nasty business. even patta can see that's what's going through cithis' mind but she doesn't mind, it really is understandable, part of the job you could say. plus she's used to being thrust into uncomfortable spots. she will surely show cithis, show everyone, that she can deal with it no problem. even when at the end of the day when everyone's tired she slips and lets the criminals unbound as she takes a break shes confident. more like naive, cithis thinks, she's completely open but now's there's too many people for it to be the intimate business cithis wants it to be so she settles for just watching over her exhausted jailer. foolish little girl that she is, letting her guard down in front of her - yet it always feels like she wants to prove something to cithis. does she even see the glaring contradiction? no and thats why cithis will have no problem swallowing her whole. one day when the time is right.

my interest in the m/m pairings in dungeon meshi is like "ok, that could be good i suppose, but idk" at most, meanwhile i got at least two f/f ships that are eating my brain alive (farcille, kikimari), two that have brainrot forming as we speak (cithadol, hienbeni), and one that is comical in a horrible way (terrible ass otta trying to put the moves on mayjack and making chilchuck go grey instantly at the news)
