i hate how the vinesauce team seems to be deathly allergic to takin any kind of political stance. bc either they dont wanna completely give up their /v/ roots and prioritize old guard over solidarity, or parrot the same old "im a comedian not a politician pls stop :(" tripe; which is bullshite because jerma's been consistently pro-LGBTQ+ and it has not diminished him bein a funnyman at all

yeah that mentality is definitely from the efforts to try and balance their original user base with the new one. vinny has always claimed to be “apolitical” and most of the other vinesauce streamers kinda just followed in his footsteps with that, but you can really only cling to that for so long before you do or say something that spills the beans

rev is the hard exception to this - he is openly leftist and discusses political issues pretty freely on his streams too. he even has a couple posts here on tumblr giving advice on how to keep yourself safe at a political protest, since he has participated in a few (thats why his icon is a gas mask!). in the last stream i caught of his, he was openly discussing his feelings toward elon musk, and you can take it for granted that those feelings are negative LMAO

imo its harder to be more open with ur politics as a content creator, especially if u dont start opening up about it until already building up a following, so i have a lot more respect for streamers like jerma and rev who make their stance clear from the jump and do so without pandering
