It’s a two plates kind of day. Making beautiful messes with acrylic paint today. I use enamelware plates for a lot of my palette needs, whether I’m using watercolour, gouache, acrylics, or oils. Inexpensive and fairly easy to clean up. I have a StayWet palette for acrylics too, but for smaller jobs I usually grab a plate. (Don’t worry, these aren’t my kitchen plates. Work continues. Tickling in some loose details over the basic shape splotches. This is how I paint stuff like this. Gives the illusion of far more detail and depth. Tonal values are so important. This could not be painted if I were afraid to be bold with the values. I do need a new @dalerrowney1783 Sapphire rigger though- I accidentally mistreated this one years ago and the majority of the paint cracked off. I recently used silver nail polish on the bare wood to help protect it.
