I've already written a story regarding Meta Knight and King Dedede being a couple. I'll spare you the details and link you to the story itself: https://www.deviantart.com/hypercole64/art/A-Conversation-Between-Knight-and-King-919957125 I wanted to talk about some interpretations I have for this ship in regards to the main pair & others around them. I'll focus exclusively on the "return to dreamland" gang. Sexuality-wise, it doesn't really matter to me if they're "just gay" or any other sexuality where they like men. But preference-wise, Meta is gay and Dedede is bi (consuming Dededaio's drawings led me to the latter). Meta doesn't have that much in the series swaying him into ANY sexuality. The biggest correlation to him falling for Dedede is Kirby Fighters 2, for obvious reasons. I do find the idea of a very brave and heroic warrior getting a bit fruity with his majesty to be very intriguing, especially when it's a gay relationship. Dedede, on the other hand, is one fruity penguin. A smug, boisterous king who knows how to pose, almost as if being drawn like one of his friend knights. He's got kinda the grumpy, lazy complex that practically makes him like a lovable bear (or penguin, in this case) who pretends to not give a shit about his friends... when actually, it couldn't be farther from the truth. And in the case of Meta, Dedede cares a lot about his knight, especially when he chucks half of a maximum tomato to Meta in Fighters 2. And dammit, I want a big, round penguin to hug the masked puffball. With Kirby & Bandana Dee, I think both of them would be accepting of Meta & Dedede's relationship. Dee would probably be a bit weirded out when the lovebirds start smoochin, which someone who's really young would feel towards any kind of affection, regardless of who's smoochin who. Kirby, on the other hand, would just show his appreciation all the time... sometimes too much for the couple's liking. I do like to imagine all four of these characters as family, because they absolutely are at this point. The way affection might look between Meta & Dedede is definitely up in the air. However, with how much Meta seems to be more internal with his expression, Dedede might handle the romantic side of things a bit more. Anything beyond that... I won't talk about here because we'd cross NSFW territory. Anyway, that's my metadede dump. I hope you enjoyed reading it! Maybe at some point, I'll write another story with these two dorks. Or, I might just do something with Kirby & Bandana Dee. Only time will tell. Have a good one! o/
