11 things that kokichi ouma hates, in no particular order:
literal murder
absence of free will
being vulnerable
meaningless violence
lying to oneself
lies made for absolutely nothing but the sake of seriously hurting people on purpose—malicious lies, to put it short
people who make said lies
boredom
when you manipulate a trustworthy person to kill another person you were cooperating with, and in the trial you "realize" the former is "lying" so well that you—someone who's talent is based off of your ability to read people—can't even detect their tells, meaning that they were so much smarter than you realize, but despite their intelligence they still choose to play the "façade" of a clueless, innocent idiot. so you condemn them, to try to corner them out of their lies—out of disdain for being deceived this whole time, out of fear for having lost control since you can't see past their act, out of pity for someone that has been hiding behind a falsehood like the same way you have for the entirety of this killing game, or out of the desperate need to prove yourself wrong, that they were a liar to be kind to people, like you, like DICE, you can't pinpoint the reason why. maybe it's some, maybe it's all of them. either way, they don't let go of their "mask," insisting that they don't know anything, they're a gentleman, and gentlemen wouldn't kill people, honest! again and again, the same illogical attempts at a defense that everyone else just accepts. you wonder: why are they sticking to this front so stubbornly (you're asking that?), when they can just play along and defend themselves with a lie to incriminate you further? almost everyone would believe them anyway. what you've saw, what you've done, what you've realized, everything that's been happening… it's too much. you snap. if they understand that, then why aren't they doing it right? argue back already. use your head and make logical arguments to reach the verdict both of us want. just make an excuse or whatever. they still don't relent, and they go with the same answer: i don't know anything. you're so sick of hearing that, it's what they've been saying this whole time. you yell and scream at them with frustration, your composure breaking, before the detective reveals a truth that explains their behavior: they don't remember killing anyone. at this point, you know it's over, since the detective is bound to figure out the truth, and everyone is listening to him, so you speed up the trial to end it as quickly as possible. you antagonize your former partner, to ensure they die with hatred towards you, if they didn't already. but they don't. they don't hate you, even asking everyone to remain be friends with each other, including you. they get sent to death with tears and guilt, without knowing why they killed in the first place. you manipulated someone so kind into murder, berated them, and sent them to their death.

peeves me off a little when some people say "miu and kokichi could be such good friends, i wish they weren't so toxic in canon!"
.......but they are friends? not in the most obvious conventional way, but still. friends.
i mean, miu actually built his blueprints and vented to him before the events of chapter 4. not only that, but kokichi had faith in her skills as an inventor, genuinely listened to her vent (though he also may have realized she was planning to kill him at that time but y'know) and plays into her degrading kink (i say kink, because, well. it is. how are the words "finally someone called me a cum dumpster" supposed to be read as distress??) without really scaring her (note that being shouted at scares her, something he rarely does)
(also also. miu was heavily, heavily reluctant on killing him. and i doubt kokichi was feeling good about orchestrating her murder, too.)
they don't hate each other. they're just assholes who bond like assholes (who care about each other at least a little, but won't admit it)

friendly reminder that it's implied that ouma doesn't lie to himself in normal situations. it's the killing game that compelled him into doing it.
not fully sure if these are the exact words but:
"I had to think this game was fun to survive… I had to lie to myself!"
↑ this implies that he has a problem of lying to himself, right? not exactly. it's implying that lying to himself is something he wouldn't normally do. like he's saying that "the kg was so atrocious that i had to do this." so contrary to what some people in the fandom think, he actually isn't a hypocrite about the whole "lying to yourself is bad" thing. he (rightfully) believes it's bad, and so he doesn't do it… in normal, non-traumatic situations. in situations as hellish as the kg (or the Angsty Backstory™ i'm cooking up for him), that's when he lies to himself and is a hypocrite about it.
(in other words, that line of dialogue states that the killing game caused him to lie to himself. it implies that it's something he usually wouldn't do. which also implies that he wouldn't lie to himself and he wouldn't be a hypocrite about it in non-despair settings. he's only like that in the kg.)
anyway stop being so mean to him guys!!! he already has enough problems, even without the kg. no need to add more in non-despair fics! (…no actually please do, but at least make it a bit more accurate/make it make sense!)

kokichi wearing part of the hopes peak uniform (or at least wearing just the blazer on top of his uniform) is cool and all but also. No He Would Not
listen if celeste could wear her full gothic lolita coord to hpa then he can wear his full goofy, clowny, straightjacket ass dice uniform as it is to hpa too

inside of me there are two wolves: "kokichi's backstory likely isn't that big and grand as he claims it is. i think his parents are either dead or very rarely present, and his background still is a bit eccentric, but no more than that"
and
"bam he loses his family and barely even remembers them, bam he loses his childhood innocence due to the need for skepticism to survive in the streets, bam some adults take him in but he can't help but notice something off, bam it turns out they're horrible people in a violent/murderous criminal organization who have Sinister Plots™, bam it turns out they're involving other children in this too, bam they manage to escape, ba-"

you know. small "before dice was an 'official' organization" hc (in my personal "hellish military academy" backstory for kokichi [mentioned here] that i've left in the back of my fridge and had NOT been working on for several months)
younger kokichi: these suckers. not sure why they're sticking around me, but they're perfect pawns to help me be free from this place. easy to use, easy to sacrifice. so there's no way i'm gonna put in the extra trouble of taking them with me.
younger kokichi, several arcs later, after he throws away a chance to escape in order to save his unofficial subordinates from danger because he got attached to them: FUCK

gonna just state the obvious here but i was reminded about how kokichi's hands are canonically naturally warm
i have no idea how to put it into words but the fact that it could indirectly reveal the kindness (or kind intentions, at least) of his more genuine self.........
oh GOD i was just reminded about the idea that kokichi metaphorically not taking shuichi's hand in the ftes because he knew that he might (again, metaphorically) involuntarily reveal that genuine, vulnerable part of him...... but he let the player take his hand because he's fucking willing to reveal it....
the walls of my enclosure are moldy but i'm clawing at them anyway

favorite underrated thing to see in (kokichi) fanfics: dice cameos, except they just fuck with kokichi in public/in school, intentionally or not—specifically, when he's with his classmates. it's so funny someone please understand

concept that i keep on rotating around in my head (kind of like a headcanon but i have already have a main hc that i think is more accurate so i can't really classify of it as a headcanon but it doesn't really seem to be an au and maybe it's not exactly just a concept either because i keep on thinking of it like it's a headcanon but again, it's not. a headconcept? or am i just making this more complicated than it needs to be. i definitely am aren't i):
so it's practically confirmed in canon that DICE is basically kokichi's found family right? and i hc that kokichi's more relaxed around them. like he can be a little more of his "genuine self" w them.
but what if. it's the exact opposite. what if he lies and acts out his facade even more with DICE, because he's their leader. he's the embodiment of everything they stand for, he's the person that they're supposed to rely on, he's the one person who shouldn't show weakness, etc. he's their evil supreme leader, they're his minions. they certainly aren't friends or anything like that (<- his opinion). (it's kinda like a kaito situation (but yk. without the Heroics™ or the Terminal Disease™))
and kokichi isn't the type of person who cares about what other people think. but what if DICE is the exception. (↑reasons as to why he cares as stated above)
either way, i just like imagining how kokichi's attitude might change when he's with DICE

hey i forgot what it was called but what was with that one pregame saihara (and possibly saiouma) comic series thing where he has bunny ears and kills some of the pregame cast. it had a really cute artstyle too and i think it came from insta but I'm pretty sure it's deleted from there (though i think there's still some sites where you can read it)
...i didn't dream this up, right? it was definitely real

stupid indulgent crack hc:
kokichi's hair feels really nice and soft. this mildly surprises most people, because really. look at him.
Tumblr media
look at that tentacle hair. you think this mf cares about hygiene?
but in reality he actually does. this is because when him and dice were around 14 or so, and one of them touched his hair, whether by patting his head or wanting to do his hair. big mistake
they and the other dice members tried to peacefully convince him to look after his hair better. kokichi being kokichi, he remained stubborn. after many attempts, a few decided to switch tactics: simply piss him off until he changed his mind.
this meant that they referred to him with a petty nickname a 14 year old would come up with ("jack, you're in charge of security " "yes sir spaghett" "...fucking sir spaghett???") or maybe putting passive aggressive/sarcastic notes somewhere in the report files they send (subject tends to purchase more shampoo and conditioner than they need [-wow!! you don't say??]) or putting hair care products in every room he goes in.
some of them were opposed to this, but one by one they eventually gave in. and with all of them pranking him about it every chance they get, kokichi surrendered, finally giving a shit about his hair (taking care of it, at least, he still doesn't bother about how it looks). but until now it somehow managed to be gravity defying and have weirdly greasy looking bundled up strands, no matter how much he combed or looked after it. to this day he practices basic hygiene in general in pure fear of the near past kokichi-level menaces his organization become when he doesn't (totally not because he also doesn't want to them to worry about him or anything)
tl;dr: dice collectively bullied kokichi to wash his fucking hair when they were like 14

fanon pre-game kokichi is depicted as this shy, cowardly, stuttering nervous wreck when:
he was willing to look into the situation when there's scary robot monsters lurking around
in both his lines, "do you want me to check on what's happening?" and "i don’t get it... what are these sealed talents you're talking about?" he never stutters, even in a confusing situation
canonically, the pre-game students are the same as their in-game selves, but with this one thing changed to fit their roles and/or ultimates.
i have a lot of ideas on what pre-game kokichi could've been like, but it's definitely not like that.
oh, and pre-game shuichi, too! he's depicted to be like... that, when really it's just shuichi but he listens to true crime or whatever

in other words: do you make/like talentswaps that change the character, or do you prefer talentswaps that changes the talent itself

*shakes the kokichi* i believe that the mercy kill plot was real and that you were accusing gonta to incriminate yourself even further, but i also believe that framing part wasn't concretely planned and that something—most likely linked to the (false) conclusion that gonta was apparently a much better liar than you and possibly might have been putting on a mask of a pure idiot—caused you to snap. SO WHAT IS THE SOMETHING?! WHAT WAS THE SPECIFIC REASONNNN???
