"I thought you learned to love and trust your Pokemon but I guess I was wrong-" shut up lance shut up shut up shut up [bites lance and bites lance and bites lance and bi-] (anyways how we feeling about neo champ silver getting some personal closure)
Tumblr media
This really did just go in one ear and right out the other, huh.
I really just can't stand his smug, judgmental ass. Yeah, sure, he apologized, whatever. His behavior beforehand was still wildly inappropriate and I doubt he learned his lesson. Who stops to lecture a child in the middle of a championship battle on live TV? And when he didn't even know what he was talking about! Lance just assumed that because he had never seen Silver's Tyranitar before that Silver must have caught it specifically for the match. First, even if Silver had done that, it still doesn't merit such a condescending lecture mid-battle. Second, Silver raised Tyranitar from an egg. That's the definition of love and bond forming. But Lance had no way of knowing that, and so just made an ass of himself based on his prior judgments of Silver. Who, again, is a child in contrast to Lance being a grown man. Lance is such a dick. Can't stand his ass.
But yes, it was satisfying to see Silver finally beat Lance's ass into the ground, even if it was just to earn the ugliest Neo Champion outfit I have ever seen. The boy looks like he went to Party City and grabbed the first mob boss Halloween costume he could find. And what are those shoes?? They are HIDEOUS. Literally just the worst. How could DeNA do this to him. How could they do this to him after giving him two gay uncles in the form of Morty and Eusine. I guess to be fair Eusine can't dress himself either, but Morty has the drip. How could Morty let this happen . . .
Oh, and my last comment is, how was Silver surprised when Tyranitar mega evolved? Did he not give Tyranitar a Tyranitarite? Did he not know he has a Key Stone? (Or that Sync Stones work as Key Stones on Pasio—I can't remember if that's how it works in PMEX.) He didn't say an invocation either? DeNA, I don't think you understand how mega evolution works. 😂
But yeah, I enjoyed the story! I play PMEX for the story content mainly, so I'm happy it continues to be good. As a final thing though, I did play around with the tags in the profile feature and I think you'll appreciate this:

so yeah,  today’s game will be Radiant Historia. Officially, I’ll be starting it at 1:00 , but I’ll be signing in ten or fifteen minutes earlier to get things set up and to make sure the settings work right. I’m not really familiar with OBS or Twitch, so things might be a bit wonky at first. :’D

and to your question the King of the Underworld is a voiceless sludgy thing that crawls out of Old Momentum since the Signers failed to seal all the towers before sunrise on the night of the Signer War so uh it came out and Rex tried to take it's power so that he could use it to destroy and then the Crimson Dragon's to recreate the world anew without Signer wars and shit. So basically it doesn't talk and doesn't have a personality it just fires sludgy hellbirds as it makes its way to ritual dool
Ah. Yes. Card games.

when it comes to you, the one i remember most fondly is that one oneshot you did of future jou and his job as a radio broadcaster! it's such a fun snapshot into a lively future where jou really is making a name for himself and carving out his niche!!!
Sorry I'm replying to this so late! And oooh, thank you!!
I will admit: I was partially inspired to give Jounouchi the future career as a radio host because I was really into Welcome to Night Vale at the time, and the way Cecil both delivered news while also rambling on air about his personal life was something that I both enjoyed and something I could see Jounouchi doing. Let's be honest: the boy has the gift of gab. He is 100% the type who can talk, and talk, and talk, and if ever taken hostage by someone who couldn't put him under mind control (even if that mind control ultimately didn't last) would annoy his captor to death by never shutting up. Putting him in a career path where he then needs to be comfortable talking endlessly seems like a natural fit, then, at least in my opinion. Plus, radio hosts get plenty of opportunity to meet musicians, get news first about up and coming things (which in the world of YGO is very game-centric), et cetera, which also fits into Jounouchi's sphere of interest since he loves being on the central pulse of what's hot and new so that he can share it with everyone and also know about it himself.
In addition to all of that, I've always disliked the idea that he'd be a "professional duelist" for a few reasons. First, maybe it's just me being a killjoy adult, but I just don't see "professional Duel Monsters player" being something someone could make a career out of, especially in the world of the manga where it's not something that takes over the entire world the way it does in the anime. There are a grand total of two tournaments in the manga, each spanning two days. That does not a career make.
In addition, for Jounouchi specifically, it amounts to gambling. And while I understand that his deck does have a gambling theme because he's a lucky boy, remember that his abusive alcoholic father put their family into untold debt because of gambling. Now, gambling is an addiction (much like alcoholism), and a disposition for addiction can be genetic. So I'm not saying that it's impossible for Jounouchi to develop addictions. But what I am saying is that I personally think that Jounouchi, because of the trauma that he has from growing up as an abused child who had to work while in school (something typically illegal in Japan) to pay his father's gambling debts, wouldn't want to become a professional gambler himself. You could say, well, there's more strategy to Duel Monsters than there is slots! But we don't know that Jounouchi's father was gambling with slots. In fact, he very well could have been playing mahjong, as many mahjong parlors in Japan have ties to the yakuza (who own and operate illegal casinos since most forms of gambling are illegal in Japan). Mahjong requires just as much strategy as Duel Monsters does, and just as much luck as well. So I just feel like, for Jounouchi, becoming a professional Duel Monsters player isn't something that he would want to do. He would still like to play Duel Monsters, of course, but to stake his livelihood on it? No. It would remind him too much of his father. It was another reason why I really disliked that movie that came out a couple years ago.
So anyway, those were my thoughts going into picking that career for Jounouchi! And then of course I added in that, for the radio station, he also ends up making Let's Play videos and things like that as technology progresses (which, let's be honest, despite taking place in the 90s, technology in the YGO world progressed at an alarmingly fast rate, so they had Let's Play tech ready to go long before we did in our world, LOL). He becomes like a local celebrity in Domino, and as much as the station manager wants him to stop insulting Kaiba on air, the listeners actually love the beef he and Kaiba have with each other, so ratings always go up whenever he goes on a tangent about how much Kaiba sucks, and so the station manager can't fire him over it. It's great.
(Not that he'd fire Jounouchi anyway, since on top of Jounouchi being damn good at his job he also has personal connections to the Mutou Yuugi and Bakura Ryou and can have them in the station for interviews at literally any time so it's like . . . where else are you going to find a host like that. Nowhere. The man is literally too valuable to fire. So if he says on air that Kaiba Seto has his head shoved so far up his own ass that he can smell his own stomach lining and that Kaiba Mokuba is literally the only reason why KaibaCorp hasn't been swallowed into the depths of Hell so the underworld can reclaim its king, station management is just going to have to let him. Especially since Mokuba said that his brother doesn't even listen to Jounouchi's show, and that he (Mokuba) is cool with it since the implication here is that he doesn't belong in Hell and he understands why Jounouchi feels that his brother does. When Jounouchi heard this reply, he said, "Of course Kaiba doesn't listen to the show. It's hard to listen when your ears are in your stomach 'cause your head's shoved up your ass."
His station manager popped four ibuprofen after that.)
(Tell me which fic of mine you most associate with me, and I'll tell you something about it!)

i'm just thinking about how ash watching alan get beat by leon raises the stakes for him and just. thinking. about how ash was able to be actually comfortable going all out against alan and being comfortable with losing to him without losing the built up pedestal he was on in xy because alan's established to be strong! he's incredible! ash CAN feel comfortable losing to him and he cares for alan and would absolutely be excited to see alan again and clearly doing well for himself! good for them!
EXACTLY!!
That's what really gets me about the people who are so upset that Ash won't get "revenge" against Alan. If Ash were a real person, and they apologized to him because he wouldn't get his revenge, his response would be, "??? Revenge for what?" Ash has never held negative feelings toward Alan. He's never felt bitter over losing, because he and his team tried their best and Alan was simply a stronger trainer. (+ as I've said before, Ash's strategy was all off; he should have saved Pikachu for Lizardon and used Greninja against Tyranitar.) Ash made it farther than he ever had in a League before. It was a hard fought battle. Alan didn't sweep him, and he was never cruel or mocking about the victory. The thought of "avenging the loss" has never once even crossed Ash's mind, and why would it? The only people bitter about it are the adults in this fandom who somehow have less maturity than the ten-year-old protagonist. It's kind of sad tbh.
But yeah, like—while Ash makes promises to battle lots of people again (he made the same one with Shouta), when he had Alan promise to battle him again, he looked worried and concerned and it's little wonder; Alan was talking about his mistakes were irredeemable and honestly sounded suicidal as he talked about how he had no idea what to do. Ash making Alan promise to battle him again, while pretty ordinary on the surface, sounded an awful lot like he was making Alan promise to be alive to battle him again one day. Which then makes Alan's thought that Ash saved him make a whole lot more sense. So to see that Alan is alive and well, and that he's in the Masters 8? That would thrill Ash! He'd be over the moon about it! He'd be so relieved that Alan is alive and thriving. Alan is, after all, his friend. They're friends. They enjoy each other's company. They like each other. The fact that some people can't see or choose to ignore that is just . . . well, see above lmao.
So yeah, Ash is going to be excited to watch that battle, because setting aside how it raises stakes, Alan is his good friend and he'll be excited to see him again. This is definitely a good for them moment.

me looking at that banner saying "kalos league champion" and nodding like yes. its what he deserves
Yes!! And the tweet where you could get the banner revealed that Alan's currently famous for excavating mega stones. While I know fame does not appeal to him at all, he absolutely deserves to be recognized for his scientific research as well. He's able to enjoy battling and is one of the Top 8 strongest trainers in the world, AND he's known for his mega evolution research. He's living his best life and it is EXACTLY what he deserves. ♥

that masters 8 lineup really just makes me think of your old champion chatfics. but also god bless this lineup. please do right by our children but at the very least god bless this lineup. we got a cool promotion art from it and at least I can point and yell at that
ngl I thought of the same thing!! Especially since I had Alan, Iris, Cynthia, Steven, and Ash all included. The lineup is really good but I've already seen people being SO awful about Alan on twitter and I just 😒 I'm not bothering to engage with them because I'm too old for that now, but if the writers disrespect my boy by having him lose to Ash (SPECIFICALLY to Ash, anyone else in that lineup beating him would be fine . . . I'll even allow for Lance), ESPECIALLY if they bring that nasty-ass frog back to do it, the fandom will be unbearable. So I'm just 🙏 manifesting Alan to be treated right.

super happy to see alan today! not so happy to see how this battle was treated though. alan deserved better than this. leon deserves better than this. this is an insult to them both,
Don't forget Lizardon!! He deserved better too, why did they draw his knockout like that 😭 He looked like he was killed fr, my boy didn't deserve that.
But yeah, the battle was really not great. Alan having a random Chesnaught and Malamar (???) aside, him having Lizardon use Flare Blitz against Zar-Zar just . . . makes no sense. Where was Thunder Punch? Lizardon knows Thunder Punch! Thunder Punch would have not only been Super Effective against Zar-Zar, but with the Tough Claws damage multiplier it would have hit even harder. Alan showed that he strategizes that way multiple times back in TSME and XY&Z (for instance, when he specifically swapped out Steel Wing for Thunder Punch to deal with Ash's Greninja, or when he trained his Metagross in the Agiligross strat to make up for its lack of speed). It seems that along with forgetting the fact that he was recovering and doing better mental health-wise after leaving Lysandre's service, they also forgot that Alan is a competitive battler who trains and strategizes like one. Because there is no way, no way, that he would have used Flare Blitz instead of Thunder Punch in that scenario. Not when Leon's Charizard would take only half damage from a fire-type attack, instead of the 130% damage increase he would have gotten from Thunder Punch (super effective + tough claws damage). It makes zero damn sense.
But all that said, we know why it happened. It happened because they didn't want to spend more than just this one episode on the battle, and half the episode had to be taken up with Ash shenanigans since he's the main character 🙄hell, originally we weren't even supposed to see this battle, or any of the other ones; it was supposed to just be still images. So it wouldn't surprise me if the other Masters 8 battles that aren't Ash vs. Leon are done in the same way. RIP to Steven, Iris, and probably Diantha.
The complaining about the battle aside though, honestly my biggest complaint is that we didn't get to see him really interact with anyone. Cynthia was standing nearby him when Ash and Iris entered, so I guess it's possible they were talking before the two kids came in (perhaps about Alan's mega evolution excavations and research?). But Steven was on the opposite side of the room from him even though those two have a history of friendship. Diantha similarly wasn't talking to him even though they both come from Kalos and Diantha has a known history of friendship with Sycamore, so they probably actually already know each other. Ash smiled and nodded at him, but Alan for some reason didn't smile back even though those two are friends and parted with huge smiles and a handshake the last time they saw each other. I'm glad that we got to see Sycamore and Manon watching his battle and rooting for him, but it sucks they didn't get to be there in Wyndon with him (even if Sycamore couldn't leave the lab for whatever reason, which I don't believe, why couldn't Manon go?), and if this is the last time we see Manon in the series, then we're ending on her crying, which . . . kind of sucks tbh. Maybe she and Sycamore will go to Wyndon now to try to catch Alan before he goes off to travel or train or something and we'll see them again that way, but I kind of doubt it.
I don't know, it's just kind of disappointing. It's possible that this isn't the last we'll see of him; maybe Ash will have some last minute issues with his Lucario's mega evolution and Alan will offer him guidance or something. I am glad that he was seen smiling when he shook Leon's hand at least, but yeah, idk. I agree that everyone involved deserved better. At the same time though, I have been saying for literal years that I didn't want Alan to come back to the anime because I didn't trust the writers to do him justice, and I was 100% right to feel that way. I wish I wasn't! I wish they had proven me wrong! For a split second it looked like they were going to prove me wrong by not having Alan lose to Ash to appease the rabid stans / Alan haters, but alas, I was not wrong. They just found another way to disrespect and not put much thought into him. Ho hum. It's just the way these things go, I guess. Good thing I don't give much of a toss about canon anymore, so in the end it doesn't bother me that much. I'll just go back to ignoring canon like I always do :P

please help my brother is dying because ive hyped up spyxfamily to him for MONTHS and he keeps seeing screenshots of scenes and he's dying because I know for a FACT that this shit is up his alley. but his modus operandi is to wait for a season to finish before watching all the episodes at once so he's just suffering. and also I am suffering because I cant wait for him to be personally murdered by the perfect family. we are dying
Have him read the manga! It's true that unless he can find fan scans somewhere that he'd have to actually pay to read past the first three chapters, but it'll be a loooong time before the anime gets caught up to the manga (or at least I feel like it will) so he could read that and then just watch the episodes as they're adapted each week! Bonus is that since the past two chapters of the manga have been tearjerkers, he can use the more lighthearted episodes of the anime to cleanse and cheer himself back up. :')

i am going to exclusively focus on how silver interacted with morty in the most recent event and how he was supportive in his own little grumpy way and also on how cute alan looks in the flashback because journeys art style cute and i am going to ignore the potential of pokeani bringing him back just to lose to ash like. I do not see it😞
Silver's interactions with Morty were so good!! Like I wonder if he felt awkward, knowing that he had bonded with Ho-Oh when that was Morty's dream, wondering how Morty felt about it. Like I don't think Silver would feel guilty, he has nothing to feel guilty for and he knows that, but I wonder if he felt awkward all the same and wondered if Morty would be upset about it. But Morty never was. I mean he was sad that Ho-Oh hadn't chosen him, sure, and also that the feather that he found was a fake—but he didn't blame Silver for it at all and had no hard feelings toward him. And I think that's why Silver said what he did at the end, why he was supportive. Because Morty is a genuinely good and kind person, he doesn't hold grudges against those who don't deserve them, he's genuinely happy for Silver instead of resentful toward him. And Silver both respects and appreciates that, so I think that's why he wanted to offer his own support.
And yesss, Alan looked so cute!! But I am also going to be praying that will be his only appearance in Journeys because we all know that if he comes back it's for one reason only. :( I will pretend I do not see it if it happens but ughhh. Not looking forward to it.
