It was a beautiful, clear night in December. The inky black sky sparkled with stars that could only be seen in the Montana planes, filled to the brim with those tiny pinpricks of light. Ronnie had missed nights like this. Sure, there had been plenty of clear nights and plenty of skies filled with stars on the Peruvian coast. But none of them felt like home. Like fresh air. Like her insides copied onto the universe.
Ronnie limped towards the front door, a blanket curled around her shoulders and a mug of steaming hot chocolate in hand. The burns still pained her — all over. It made it hard to move most days. But she was determined to get out of bed and enjoy something. Just a little thing. Maybe then she wouldn’t feel like a black hole waiting to suck up everything around her — turn it to ashes, to nothing, to pain.
Or at least that’s what her mother told her.
A thick blanket of snow was on the ground. Settled over the ranch all the day before. The top layer of powder was swept this way and that with the wind. It reminded her of the great sand dunes she once visited. But there wasn’t a cloud in the sky now.
Carole Bradshaw was already sitting on the porch. Encircled in a few thick blankets and huddled around her own warm mug of cocoa. A content sort of smile tugged at her lips as she gazed up at the sky.
Ronnie lowered herself slowly into the chair beside her mother.
“God, it’s freezing,” Ronnie commented, pulling the blanket around her tighter.
“Yep, sure is,” Carole chuckled, “I remember you used to love this though. Curling up in my lap, sharing a mug of cocoa — you would stay out here for hours if I let you.”
“I don’t think I’ll last ten minutes at this rate,” Ronnie replied and her mother laughed again.
The two women fell into a comfortable silence. Sipping from their mugs and watching the night sky. No anticipation. No waiting. Just watching, just sitting. The wind howled and echoed around them, reminding them that they were surrounded by nothing but wide-open planes and mountains to the far north. Even if nothing but darkness could be seen beyond the light of the porch.
The world felt…Empty. With its howling wind and stars so far in the sky. It felt like something was missing. Something had created a void in this place that once filled Ronnie with so much joy and comfort.
She knew what it was, but she feared acknowledging it. Feared the rip and space and time it would create if she made it real.
It was already real enough to her, anyway. Taken root inside her, grown like a weed till there was nothing left of the garden that once was.
“Oh, look a shooting star,” Carole said, hand escaping from her blankets just enough to point it out in the night sky. “Make a wish, love.”
Ronnie adjusted her line of sight, and sure enough, there it was. Shooting across the field of stars was a streak of white light, beautiful and fleeting. On some instinct, built by years of tradition, she made a wish. Eyes closed and holding her breath. Despite how childish she may have found it. Despite knowing this would do little to help the ache she felt.
When she opened her eyes again, her mom was smiling over at her. “What’d you wish for?”
“I didn’t wish for anything,” Ronnie lied, shuffling back further into her seat, staring down at the chocolate residue left at the bottom of her mug.
“I’m your mother — I could see it written all over your face,” Carole replied. “Now, come one, tell me what you wished for.”
“Isn’t there something about telling won’t make it come true?”
“That’s for birthdays.”
She felt the tears building, stinging the backs of her eyes. She clenched her jaw tight to keep them at bay as she muttered out, “Doesn’t matter. S’just a wish. I know wishes don’t come true.”
“Baby, who told you that?” It was too cold for Carole to reach out and touch her daughter in some way, but Ronnie could feel her comfort anyway.
“The world.” Ronnie shook her head, fighting to the death with the tears that were threatening to spill over. “Life. Everything.”
Carole sighed softly, understanding. “I know…I know that life has chewed you up and spit you back out, Ronnie, but…That doesn’t mean what you wish for — hope for — won’t come true.”
“I just…I just wanna be okay, Mom.”
The tears finally fell. Ronnie lost the battle. They slipped from her eyes and stung her cheeks in the cold. Suddenly, a pair of arms were wrapped around her. Ronnie opened her eyes, and her mother was holding her. Wearing nothing but her pajamas in the winter Montana air. Ronnie sobbed at that kindness, at that sacrifice, at the love she didn’t think she deserved as she clutched at her mother’s shirt.
“It may not be today. It may not be tomorrow. Or even a year from now. But you will be okay, Veronica. And I will always be here to help you. We’re in this together, love.”
Ronnie nodded as she buried her face in Carole’s shoulder. Hiding like a child. From the pain, the loss, the emptiness, the feeling that something was missing. It would all go away as long as she stayed curled against her mother’s chest. Just like when she was a girl and there were monsters in her closet.
“It hurts,” Ronnie whispered, fingers digging into her mother’s arms. “I miss him…So much.”
“I know, love, I know. Me too.”
After a few more moments, they collected the blankets and mugs and went back inside. Claiming it was too cold to stay out any longer, no matter how pretty the stars were.
And Ronnie fell asleep, hoping that her wish would come true.

the season's over for ice dance - what were your favorite programs? my favorite FDs:

LaLa Roses - they are such an exciting team in that it feels like they're just getting started but are this good. i know they've been together for a long while at this point, but you can feel the potential, that they have so much more in them. this was the highlight of Worlds for me

CPom Perfume - i'm so happy for them - they took a risk choosing this program but showed they have range. from Summertime to this, they've shown quality, elegance, sophistication. they've been changing the narrative about themselves for the last 2 seasons. they were great at Worlds, but this performance at Nationals was when it felt like it was undeniable that they've arrived

G/P Wuthering Heights - hearing Carol Lane talk about how much they work on skating on the circle at their school made me notice they're almost continuously circling and spinning and turning to create the sweeping sensation that's so characteristic and expressive in this program. the elements feel organic, this just works for me - it's beautifully odd
L/Q Umbrellas - they made it their own, which is no small feat. so talented and such a stellar first senior season
Lily and Nathan's Jeremy Dutcher FD (tumblr's not letting me add the video, but they're at 57:11 at the link)- they made something personal and meaningful that only they could skate - they had a great music cut from the start, and the choreo and their performances of it got sharper and at the same time more abandoned - their skate at Nationals was their peak - their 4th place finish was well deserved

Hawayek/Baker I Found You - the FD that wasn't. i'm thankful they shared it with us. infused with pain and sadness but also joy and connection. that they do the Seasons curve lift that they first did as juniors but with a beautiful new position to exit feels like it reaches back over their whole career 😭

Have to say that while the top 4 skated well, it was the teams below them that I enjoyed the most, Lajoie/Lagha and Carreira/Ponomarenko especially.
Going one by one:
Harris/Chen - finally redemption for them after a horrible season, still have a way to go but this was a step in the right direction.
KoKo - surprisingly enjoyable and overall clean and getting decent levels, I was positively surprised.
Soucisse/Firus - will forever be hampered by their ability to only interpret one style of dance, mostly stagnated even after moving to Carol Lane but at least the country switch will get them to the Olympics before retirement.
Orihara/Pirinin - I dig them so much and they nailed their Chicago FD, not in the same class as some of the rest in terms of skating skills but my god do they commit to their performance. Kudos to Juho for legit committing to the performance more than 99.99999% of ice dance men.
Taschlers - clearly not over their injury, sloppy unfortunate mistake in the RD with the lift, and not enough experience to save the situation. FD was better but they need time to heal.
Demougeot/Le-Marcier - I like them a lot but they are being held up by lifts and pazzez, their step sequences were not great, especially the one-foot.
Davis/Smolkin - terrible swan lake program, terrifying straight line lift that is supposed to impress but is mostly shaky, and mediocre skating skills. Their score was a travesty and seeing their swan lake followed by that of the Mrazeks was so telling.
Mrazeks - the first time I was really impressed by them, their FD was powerful and skated with confidence beyond their experience, they will go places for sure.
Smart/Dieck - not gelling together like you would have expected or they would have wanted just yet. Potential is there but it will take more time. Decent first half of the FD but then really falling apart. Scores too harsh though.
Lim/Quan - like the Mrazeks they are going places, but with them I'm not surprised. Hannah Lim is a STAR. Their FD grew on me and improved over the year, but I did miss their Dance Macabre FD.
Fournier-Beaudry/Sorensen - For the first time she was way more shaky than he was, I feel for her as mentioned before, this FD was skated overall well but it was clear that they didn't stand a real chance of winning anything, doubt they can even feel it was that much rewarding. My hope for her is that they will move on and retire, and that she can somehow put this behind her (whatever way she chooses to).
Turkkila/Versluis - the first time I managed to enjoy their FD, still not my favorite team and I find their skating skills lacking in the step sequences. It's legit a travesty how they are scored in and out of Finland, one of the most egregious cases of home ice inflation when you think about it.
Reed/Ambrulevicuis - love them, would have had them behind CPom overall, they are great but the basics are not as good as some of the rest.
Carreira/Ponomarenko - one of the two major highlights for me, improved power and speed, best one-foot of the event (L/L close second), and while Christina has been on an upward trajectory for two seasons now, today Anthony really managed to deliver as well, strong twizzles, and great interpretation. I will miss this FD so much, and I pray Scott, Madi, and Adria can get them two great programs for next season as well.
Lopareva/Brissaud - just not the team for me, nice skating but doing nothing for me. I hope they move on from Gui's pretentious choreography not gonna lie.
Lajoie/Lagha - second highlight of the night for me, stunning FD skated to close to perfection, and with so much emotions. After the injury they had it's just a testament to their strength that they managed to nail this FD. They too are going places, and hopefully very soon.
Fear/Gibson - were close to unwatchable for me since they were following the emotional high of L/L's FD. To their credit no matter how cringe their material is for me the audience always gets behind them and they did so today as well. But that Rocky FD is a big no for me, and it's depressing to know they will come out with another campy cringe FD next season as well.
Chock/Bates - came close to disaster with the rotational lift but saved it with their experience, this FD is not their strongest and it was skated well but didn't create a moment. Will they retire or not is the biggest question for me.
Guignard/Fabbri - came close to disaster too and also saved it with experience. He was shaky during the FD but they skated well. Bronze makes sense here. I kind of wish they would retire as well but at this point, it is clear Milano is their target.
Gilles/Poirier - Dislike their shtick, but manged to enjoy their FD for the most part. Put of the top 3, deserved to win the FD. Here as well, will they reitre is the biggest question for me (time to leave the stage to L/L).
Final note - praying P/C don't come back, with so many amazing young teams on the horizon it will be super depressing watching them do the same FD for the 8th and 9th years but still be rewarded.

Trust someone in marketing to care more about the presentation of something than the content. And, as a scientist, I do resent the way Nina just acts as though scientists don't know how to dress. Just because I get to wear street clothes to the lab (look, you don't want synthetic fabrics around chemicals. You just don't. Cotton all the way, folks! Or linen or wool, depending) doesn't mean I don't know how to dress up and look stunning when I want to. Or, at least, my partners have used stunning to describe me, but I suppose they may just be biased. REGARDLESS, Nina's being a bit catty here, and that definitely makes me feel like she deserves what she gets. But the control isn't ... it isn't a style I enjoy in my kink stories, so on a lot of levels this is just a miss for me. If you like someone being overwhelmed with ... well, ok, in this universe it's science but no, that isn’t how any of this works, so it's magic. You might just enjoy this. 3/10 spirals.

Given who Adventure Girl makes me think of, it's WEEIRD to see her juxtaposed with Venus Ascendant, given who Venus makes me think of. (Look, her age says Supergirl, but her origin says Ms. Marvel. And I'm a Carol Danvers fan.) But holding that aside, because it isn't really important, gosh this is a Good Story. The Girdle of Minerva works so well, and watching Adventure Girl grapple with the same sorts of "but good girls don't!" that I too had to unlearn is ... cathartic? Kind of? It doesn't hit my hot buttons exactly - too much magic, which if y'all have been following my reviews won't come as a surprise - but it's still really good. 7/10 spirals

How can I even *start* to review this one? This isn't just my favourite Jukebox story - my favourite story on the EMCSA *other* than one my spouse wrote for and dedicated to me! - but it was FORMATIVE to my hypnokink, to my sense of what I might possibly *find* in a relationship. I didn't know what healthy, happy romantic relationships looked like when I was as young as I was when I read this story, back when it was first posted. Not *really.* My parents were always so very private about their relationship, and I knew enough to know that media wasn't ... it just wasn't. Add in the "I'm not really interested in sex itself" with the strong hypnokink, and I was so adrift. Sure, there were, like, 2 book series I read that had Healthy Relationships, but they didn't have any of the kink nuance, so that didn't help.But this story. This story has so many moments that I read and my brain went "that. I want *THAT.*" The mix of romance and fun kinky things in this story became my measuring stick for relationships I was in, and if I realized that a partner wasn't living up to that? That they weren't showing me the respect Lynn shows Michael? I was done. And I needed that, more than once, unfortunately. But it also helped me internalize that I *could* have that kind of relationship. And now I do - 4 times over! I've mentioned before on my blog how a line from this story became a guiding benchmark for me, the idea of "everything we do comes from love." Whether love of community, love of a friend, or romantic love, that central tenant has helped me know when to stop doing something I was no longer doing for the right reasons, and to grow into an adult who knows when to - and how to! - say no.That's a LOT to put into a story, I realize, and it isn't just this story that did it. But it was absolutely a catalyst for so much of that. I would not be who I am today if it weren't for this story. I probably wouldn't have even felt like I belonged in this community without this story, and a few others (one by Jukebox, and a couple by Wiseguy).So all that said, let's get into the actual text of the story, shall we?
While we start with sexual stuff immediately, it's also instantly clearly part of the conditioning/brainwashing process, so that's all good by my standards. There's such obvious love and connection between Michael and Lynn, and she so gently and tenderly reinforcing her control as she moves through the chakras. And then, when we get to the heart chakra, and Michael stops being passive because he loves Lynn so much, and has such a need to communicate that to her... it melts my heart. The way she drops out of pet names and just uses his name in that moment, the mantra... so much good here. And then the moment where we see Michael is so aware of how much Lynn loves him in return is so tender... to me, that's the true climax of this story, the sharing in love that has been well tended and grown by *both* of them. It's just tender and sweet and lovely and I am so very fond of both Michael and Lynn, here and in every story we see with them. 9001/10 spirals.

There's a really interesting suggestion in here, and it's one I definitely plan to use for (short-term) shenanigans with a partner at some point. The idea of them being consumed by curiosity, focusing entirely on a fixation object as it sucks their thoughts away? Oh yes, I'm using that. The rest of this story? It's good enough, but doesn't quite get me invested the way other stories have and do. Some of that is the contrast to Closer to the Heart, of course; I remember 12 years ago, reading this one the week after Closer to the Heart and wishing that this had been closer to that - and I still do. But this one stands well on its own, if I make myself stop comparing it to Closer to the Heart. Seeing how Cat's mind changes in response to the control is *delightful,* and it's well thought out. It's just a bit impersonal for me, is all. 8/10 spirals.

Hmm, another one of those stories that never quite feels erotic - surreal horror, maybe? Still really good for what it is, just a bit ... not quite fitting amongst the rest of the stories on the archive. But it's well written, we really, TRULY get a sense of what Monica was running from and why she's scared, and it fits so very well. Though I have to wonder how nobody's noticed this before now. Surely enough folk gathered by those who serve would have people who miss them! 7/10 spirals

I feel bad for Addison here; he's mostly an innocent bystander in this one. Wouldn't it have made more sense to just tell him to forget the secrets involved and only have to worry about one person - a seemingly not well-liked one! - disappearing? Ah well, leaving my opinions on what makes sense aside, this is a bit ... clinical? which is the point, of course, but it makes it hard for me to see it as erotic, personally. But the method works, and I enjoy the (entirely too brief) description of the experience Addison has. If you like more detatched/clinical control, you'll likely enjoy this one? 6/10 spirals

This ends the only way it possibly could, and I don't think that's inherently a bad thing? Because the *how* we end up where it ends up is a bigger draw than the "where is this going?" sentiment would be. It's fun to watch how Alicia slowly brainwashes herself with Holly's voice, though I can't help but shake my head at her not realising she was doing that. Ah well, hopefully it will work out for the best and they can be a happy trio; I've seen well how two subby gals can be in love and reinforcing their submission to a shared dominant partner; it can be *super* cute. Though that does involve more consenting submsision, but what can you do, I suppose? I do have to wonder just how much actual rest Holly was getting, but it seemed to work for her? 8/10 spirals

I feel like the last part of this sort of skews away from what would be - to me! - a much more interesting story. But it ends up more or less exactly where I expected it to - after 139 stories, I think I'm getting a sense of where Jukebox is going with these pretty quickly from the tone. The first two thirds of the story is good - the approach of a telepath who's trying not to give into her powers is fun! But the cruel ending to it, caused by another telepath, is less my vibe. 6/10 spirals.

Honestly, do people not understand the idea of too good to be true? I suppose there would be fewer good stories if they did, and after all it can be hard to resist temptation. And to be fair, Isabelle did speak truly, for all she left significant details out. It's a fun story, and the sense of how Sylvia is overwhelmed and conditioned and brainwashed is wonderful. Having said that, I don't actually like the light and sound machines - unless I'm already SUPER fractionated, they just give me a wicked headache (I should know, I experimented with them once upon a time, thanks to Wiseguy) - so I do wince a little at the idea of waking from sleep right into one. But that's a me thing - plenty of folk really like light and sound machines, and I know from friends' testimonies that they can be amazingly hypnotic for a lot of folk! So that just makes all of this feel more real, and more personal. It's just all around a good story that hits a lot of things I like. 9/10 spirals.

Damn, I wish I had time to give the ladies a full writeup because gosh do they deserve it, but I have to do so much goddamn adulting this weekend, so just the ice dance it is.
Lovely color from W/L but there's a bit of a sense of dishevelment about them, they kinda looked like a bridesmaid and groomsman drunkenly hooking up at a wedding. I wish his shirt wasn't untucked and so oversized. The issue with this program is that, like Sandrine and Quentin, they aren't skating to the rhythm, but also not to the melody either? Not to mention, the choreo is very much a mishmash of standard Montreal moves we've seen a million times already, it doesn't move me, it doesn't grab me. They were easily the technically weakest team here, which sucks because they seem so sweet and committed. MF's jacket feels a bit too casual for the occasion, but her hair is back on point.
Now, usually I wouldn't be on board with a non-Jason Riverdance program, but this is a rare Carol slay in terms of matching the program to the team. Molly is killing it, although I felt they had more vigor in Lake Placid. I like this black dress way more for her than the white (was it?) from before. The costumes are a bit theatrical for the present day, but at least they're on-theme. I have no doubt the coaching team is courting the Irish fed with this after they offloaded Caro and Shane on it to die a slow death of low scores and no major fed looking out for them, I'd honestly be impressed if I had a single Machiavellian bone in my body of how they solved that problem for themselves. Molly is slowly becoming the star of this team and I love that for her, she seems so pure.
Such a step up costume-wise for German Jenn, gorgeous silhouette and color, but his shirt needs to be at least somewhat closed and the pink line in the back is just silly. Less is more, always. A tango is a good choice for them but that first half put me to sleep. She's such an intense presence that I'll always stan no matter what. Strong and interesting lifts from them but always a bit of shakiness. Igor stay away from her!
Initially I was thrilled Alicia and Paul were keeping this FD because it was one of my faves last year, but this year it's already feeling a bit tired, and it didn't help that they were so cautious here, although I understand that they can't afford another injury. Her dress is so lovely and soft, so it makes me wish his shirt was more of... something, maybe a layered, draped mesh like her dress or at least the same color as the piece of fabric covering the V, this just looks like long underwear. They have some stunning elements but they weren't at their best here. The levels issues persist, but I was glad they got more generous GOEs here than they've been used to. He gets too far back on the blade and gets shaky, they might need to spend the summer in Komoka to work on this. Judging by his outfit, Romain is the groom at the wedding W/L are attending.
God help me, Pate and Bye. Further proof that Igor would rather die than come up with an original program. The costumes, while well-executed, just further exemplify how many coaches are stuck in their respective heydays. They would've been all the rage on the circuit 10-15 years ago. The choreo step is the stuff of nightmares and very Vikita in Beijing. That tiara is like something out of an 80s fantasy adventure movie like the Neverending Story. I'm sending flowers whenever Igor decides to retire, but judging by his dyed hair and fake tan, he has no intention of sparing us from himself any time soon.
Z/K are wasted under this coaching team and I'm glad Mark mentioned Scott (although why the height jab?) because I'd love to see them with more mature material like CPom have been getting, and I think Emilea would thrive under Madi. I like BatB but it has no business playing at a senior GP. If it'd been all instrumental covers it might've been okay, but I didn't enjoy having my ears assaulted by Dan Stevens of all possible options for this. I actually prefer that they didn't go full Meryl and Charlie with the costumes like their training mates did, cause they're just too cool for this school. They'd be such a factor under IAM but I can't see anyone clawing this team out of Igor's cold, dead hands.
My issues with the Browns' material persist, they're too good for what they've been given, and I don't understand why they aren't going with instrumental classical music when it could complement their flowy skating so nicely. I thought they deserved to medal here just based on their fundamental skating skills, kudos to their childhood coaches (although let's hope it wasn't that pedo who gave them this gift).
R/A I feel are so close but so far from something with this program. I feel like it's too conceptual, too mime-y, and that final piece is too much in the vein of what they've given us before that I can't see this FD as a standalone in their repertoire. The costuming is too repetitive of previous ideas as well and I honestly found myself bored throughout this. I mean, vintage Euro techno again? The cutouts on her dress weren't very sophisticated and the slits on the skirt sub-optimal. The back of his shirt was confusing, I found myself wondering if he was wearing one of those back support thingies. I suppose Air Canada lost their free legs in transit again. Some interesting moments throughout but again, I didn't feel like they're challenging themselves or stepping out of their comfort zone. I feel like they have so much more to offer, that's the thing. Whenever I see a team grip the boards, I just wince at this point. Can we move past this, please? That and the cartwheels on the ice, pack them away.
It's so rare that a program actually insults me the way that this Rocky one has. And the music choices aren't that bad, actually, but the whole thing is way too hammy to take seriously, and the most baffling aspect of it all is the quality of the support team they have - nobody had the guts to tell them no? I just can't believe Maria-Francesca Dubrovnik-Lausanne would do this to me. And I really like them as people, that's the thing. The costumes are well-made and we know I love my velvet, but good god, why this approach? I actually could see this working in a way if they'd gone way less literal, but the fake boxing and all the other bullshit is just. too. much. Mark is just pumping their tires because a) they're British and b) he's trying to justify their scores before the rest of the world, but truth be told, their skating skills have to have improved, because if they'd gotten worse, they'd be falling over. The scoring of this team will remain a dark stain on ice dance for a very long time.
Now, coming into this as an avowed G/P hater, even I can admit that there are some points of interest in this program. It's not their worst, but we've already seen most of what they're doing here before, notably in that Hitchcock program. However, there is always a level of cringe with them that I just can't get over, mostly in their facial expressions. This was a way better concept and certainly better executed than the RD, but there's always going to be a sense of distilled trash juice with them for me and it's that inherent lack of self-awareness that permeates everything they do that I just can't get over. The opening moves are something straight out of a Torvill and Dean exhibition program 20-30 years ago. Then they move in and out of the Hitchcock mood with some of the Evita sprinkled in. Now, while her dress is really pretty and classic, she needs to give Polina Edmunds back that hair ribbon because the whole look is too juvenile for her. The choice of pink for a Wuthering Heights program is my biggest question mark of the event. Do you think they've read the book? Do you think they've been in the same room with a copy, perhaps? Was the intention to soften a story about isolation, generational trauma and people treating each other like shit? If so, how? Because I don't see how one could possibly. I don't understand Paul's proto-mullet any more than his silky shirt, the interrupted sleeves, the lace-up front or the choice of the color pink to portray an abusive douchebag. That man was not a romantic hero, and if someone believes that, they need therapy asap. If his top had been grey, then we might've been in business, but painting WH as a "love story" of all things... What a curse it is to have read a few books in this lifetime. It's like, I don't absolutely loathe it, but having seen what they're capable of with the Vincent and the Both Sides Now, I'm kinda iffy. This FD would've benefited from an outing prior to this, it looks underdeveloped still. I just, I... hate the current state of ice dance. I'm at a point where I'd be fine if no medals were awarded at Worlds, like in the Olympic team event. Maybe the Italians will change their RD and deliver us all.
It's a shame W/L have regressed so much, I like them, but they are having a tough time out there. That Caro and Shane drive by hit made my cackle so loud I woke up my cat. So true about Paul and his balance issues, it makes it hard for me to settle into the program cause he just seems shaky. Igor looks more soulless and dead eyed every time we see him, it's so unsettling. I'm glad the Browns came out as the top American team, but they need a lyric-less program, just give them pretty music so skate prettily to, as you said. I'm disappointed in the R/A free dance, it started with that weird pantomime and I didn't warm up to it at all after that. I can't even talk about Fear and Gibson or fl-flames flames! flames on the side of my face!! I'm gonna take a Mulligan on Piper and Paul, cause I just need Chock and Bates to not win worlds again, that's all I need.

What an awesome night I had last at Woodspring Masonic Lodge 8791 that meet in the Yatton Temple here in the Province of Somersetshire 💪🙏
I was a personal guest of my dear friend WBro MB, alas he had been taken ill and did not make the lodge, so the video is a get well soon and Merry Christmas 🎅 from myself and the Woodspring boys, 🙏🤠
I was always made to feel so welcome, the first degree ceramony was first class and the WM lead his team magnificently, it was so nice to see so many light blues and even FD and FC masons taking part who all did brilliantly, I really enjoyed that ceramony it all had such a wonderful Festive Brotherhood feeling about it 🙏🎅💪
It was nice not having to do anything or so I thought until I felt the DC hand on my shoulder at the festive board or after meeting as it's known, GULP!!!! could I do the return to the visitors toast at literally a moment's notice, now that's nothing unusual in freemasonry now is it brethren 💪😂
I thanked WBro AW for the way he proposed the toast to us visitors and the way the brethren received the toast, I then went about my festive return to the visitors toast that brought some amusement and laughter with a very true masonic tale of a Christmas visit to Peace lodge a few years ago, I did give a big shout out to our Adair Club and The Holy Royal and pointed brethren to WBro RA who is the HRA Rep, I see this morning two of the light blues from last night have been added to the watts app Adair Club so top drawer muckers enjoy 🙏🤠💪
The festive board or after meeting, almost last minute the chef called in sick so no food for a festive board? In true Woodspring style the brethren sprang into style, the local fish and chip shop came to the rescue as it was a fish on a Friday day, A mighty portion of Fish and Chips all round, I was glad of this I am bored with Christmas turkey dinners, the boys also laid on a spread of sweets that Gordon Ramsay's restaurant would be proud of as well as coffee and festive after eight mints etc, stick a fork in me I am done I could barely move 💪
Speeches & toasts were excellent & inspirational, the raffle and alms raised a good deal of money for charity and local food banks, a fantastic Carol Service 🙏 we were all in fine voice lol 🤣 the 12 days of Christmas Woodspring style was fantastic and I must say The Brethren of table 5 were by far the best lol 🤣🙈🙉🙊🎅
I cannot urge all Men and indeed Women to consider becoming a Freemason if charity is at your core and you want to be the best version of yourself you can be SMIB 🙏

22 dias pra gente ir pro rj.
22 dias pra eu andar com a caixinha de alianças a mala e rezando pra vc não encontra-las…
22 dias ainda pra eu decidir na verdade… mas até o presente momento, tudo indica que sim, que eu devo fazer e aproveitar o momento.
Eu mudei de ideia quanto ao dia… vou fazer dia 10/09, dia do show do coldplay, por conta das luzes e fogos que você tanto ama, acho que vain ser melhor, mais lindo… fora que combinei com larissinha hahahahah com a Lu eu não posso combinar, eu acho que ela não iria dar conta do recado kkkk e a Larissa já sabendo, ja consegue não tremer tanto haha…
Sei que a carol não é muito parâmetro, mas conversei muito com ela a respeito disso tudo. Disse do meu medo, da minha insegurança em não te atender e fazer do meu jeito, mas ela disse: tay, o sonho também é seu! E amor… você me dá um sim quase todos os dias, já é nosso esse sonho, só falta ele acontecer e eu quero realizar esse sonho que eu sei que você tem, um grande e lindo pedido… luzes e fogos, com muita gente em volta (que não conhecemos) e alguns próximos a nós. Vai dar tudo certo e vai ser lindo.
Só pra constar aqui, esse fds foi o fds que nossa filha de 4 patas chegou, july maria torres marconato… e é tão gostoso falar dela com você, tantos planos de como vamos cria-la…

GPF FD- catching up -
i love Lolo and Nik and always want them to do well, but they've been having a lot of trouble skating clean this season 😢 this was much better than the RD but still with little issues - i'm wondering, if they make big enough mistakes at 🇨🇦 Nationals and LaLa skate clean, will the judges hold FBS up or let LaLa beat them this time. the Canadian judge here had LaLa ahead of FBS in their FD ranking 👀
F/G - this is so not how i want to feel after watching anyone skate 😬😅
G/P - Mark quoted Carol Lane saying that Piper and Paul feel they're not skating a program when they perform this FD but creating brushstrokes of a picture that only lives while they're skating - it's kind of ott😅, but there's something to it? when they're on, like at Skate Canada, this feels like a complete story in its own world for a few minutes, and it's compelling. but when they're a little off, the bubble bursts more than for other teams
G/F - i do like that they're showing a softer and more expressive style. i feel more puzzled than anything that the program is about Stephen Hawking and his wife🤔
C/B- so much arm choreo in this program- partly it's clock hands, but also a lot of distracting, repetitive arm waving. and they spend so much of the program practically standing still or moving around a tiny portion of the ice
LaLa- how brilliant is it for a skater to be seriously studying contemporary dance and choreography while they're still competing? it shows. and Marjo’s growing in expression and extension seemingly from competition to competition. they have the best program.
i’m not sure why this competition shook him, he seemed extra nervous- maybe it was hitting him that they’d made it to the big league
they had less training time than most everyone and are still looking this good? bring on Nats, 4CC and Worlds🥹

TSL legit hasn't found a bad ice dance take they don't love. Crazy love for Zingas/Kolesnik including their cringe Disney FD, mostly loving Rocky FD, and for the second year in a row disliking cpom and L/L's programs, and preferring Z/K over G/Pa and cpom.
I need good skating takes, please share some!
Sigh, TSL has always had questionable taste in ice dance (both of them). I haven't watched in a while but it's clearly the discipline they understand the least about and their discussion is 95% about politicking and drama and fake worship of female coaches (MF, Barb, Carol, etc.) that when looked at closely is deeply rooted in misogyny.
As for ice dance takes, @macaroni-rascal have been discussing a lot how the judging so far is super questionable and how it does feel like for the most part up-and-coming teams from I.AM especially (but not only) are being dropped hard to make room for other teams (some deserving at least partially, others very much undeserving).
If the season will continue as it started I expect it to be one of the most frustrating seasons in recent memory.
