Ahsoka and Teen Rebellion

Here’s a really interesting fact about good ol Papa George Lucas. He’s a hippie-a scion of 50′s hot rod culture specifically- who loves teen rebellion.  No Seriously.

During that movie, a teenager, played by Ron Howard, tells his teacher to kiss a duck…without consequences.

Also, George let’s another teenager-played by Richard Dreyfuss, to vandalize an occupied cop car without consequences.

ANH is about a bunch of college hippies sticking it to the man…in space.

During Jedi, Obi tells Luke he has no choice but to kill Vader, to resolve conflict with violence. Rather than obey Obi, Luke disobeys him, chooses to save Vader with peace and love and succeeds!

So what does any of this have to do with good ol snips?

To begin with, GEORGE assigned Ahsoka to Anakin.

“[With Ahsoka] I wanted to develop a character who would help Anakin settle down. He's a wild child after [Attack of the Clones]. He and Obi Wan don't get along. So we wanted to look at how Anakin and Ahsoka become friends, partners, a team. When you become a parent or you become a teacher you have to become more respnsible. I wanted to force Anakin into that role of responsibility, into that juxtaposition. I have a couple of daughters so I have experience with that situation. I said instead of a guy let's make her a girl. Teenage girls are just as hard to deal with as teenage boys are.”

 If we interpret  Snips’ story through the context of George’s perspective, something becomes clear. I don’t think a single Star Wars character, save for Hayden’s version of Anakin, embodies George’s  love of teen rebellion-and his resentment of grown ups as well as Ahsoka.

Ahsoka is hotheaded, impulsive and of course defiant. She hates being treated like a kid, fears punishment, and constantly butts heads with the adults in her life. She constantly trash talks adult authority figures-Anakin, Grievous, Hondo, Tarkin, Palpatine, Obi wan, Vizla etc.

During Malevolence, Ahsoka saves Plo by defying the council. During cloak of Darkness, Snips saves Luminara by defying her. During heroes on both sides, she agrees to break the law with Padme for the sake of peace. During that same episode, one could say she metaphorically sneaks out of her home-the republic-and meets a boy in the process-Lux. She saves the citadel mission by defying Anakin. During the Padawan lost arc, she kills an aggressive father figure. During the youngling arc, Ahsoka straight up tells the kids “sometimes doing the right thing means bending the rules”. All of this subtext climaxes during her big arc in season 5. In this arc, she runs away from and defies a system of adult authority that wants to “unfairly” punish her. During this arc, Ahsoka defies Anakin when he tells her to come back. And the arc ends with her individuating from her primary caregiver-Anakin.

In my opinion, this rebellious subtext gives Ahsoka’s heroic feats a truly awe inspiring quality. As a kid, watching her made you feel like even the world’s biggest “brat”-an unruly child-could step up to the plate and deliver.

Unfortunately, all of this subtext only works when you are a teenager. Growing up means realizing that your actions have consequences and that all the rules teens stereotypically hate exist to keep people safe. Therefore, impulsive hotheaded, “rebels” like Ahsoka, or Korra, or KLK’s Ryuko Matoi, or LWA’s Akko, simply don’t fly in the real world.

Kill la kill x F!reader

Ryuko Matoi walking with Mako Mankanshoku and all the other no star Goku uniforms walking to the controlling school, Honnōji Academy. Controlled by Satsuki Kiryuin, as the students finally walk in Honnōji Academy. As Ryuko and her crazy best friend Mako keep walking, they see a pretty girl walking with beautiful h/c shining in the light of sun, wait no it's brighter then the sun with a shadow as we look up it's the one and only Satsuki Kiryuin. Mako seems to notice the h/c girl as well but then the ("material gurl~") jk as the girl disappears with the other students. No one seems to notice that Satsuki saw the girl along with the elite four.

Ryuko POV Me and my small friend Mako are walking to their class as they walk we see the same (h/c) girl from the entrance as our teacher Mr. Aikuro Mikisugi starts talking "Hello class this the new student introduce yourself" then the girl with (h/c) starts to speaks and bows "hello I'm Y/N L/N nice to meet you all"she straightened up, she smiles and I blush a light pink tint appears on my cheeks as I look away and cover my mouth.

Mako's POV

My eyes go wide as I tap on Ryuko's shoulders she has a blushing a tint of light pink "Ryuko doesn't the new girl Y/N look pretty!" I shout forgetting the rest of the classmates "Yes, she's kinda pretty could use a bit of help" I know Ryuko is hiding her true feelings the bell rings "Come on Ryuko let's eat!" As I whip out my lunch out my "Compartment" we start walking to are original eating spot

Y/N'S POV

I know those two were staring at me I thought. I walk over to Ryuko and Mako "hey can I eat lunch with you? I don't really know where to go.." as I rub the nape of my neck embarrassed. Ryuko was about to speak before Making cut her off "Sure you can! Right Ryuko?" Ryuko sighed but nodded. I see Ryuko blushing, and I giggle which cause Mako to blush too. "Y'all look cute when you blush~" I say then mister Aikurō Mikisugi saw the whole thing he then spoke "y'all can leave now" I turned around and nod at him "let's go y'all" as we walk to the (I don't know that one spot in the anime great anime by the way.) We sit in a row then there's a shining light again as Ryuko grabbed she guitar case she looked mad.

first of all her fashion sense is on point? like i love all of her outfits. even the atlas one from the newest season i started out not being a huge fan of but it’s grown on me. but just. real talk everything this woman wears looks amazing on her. the biggest shame is that the Hunter outfit (the one she had in v2 for like 2 episodes) probably isn’t gonna be animated in the new style, because that’s my favorite one.

also, jesus, can we talk about that confidence? that poise? this woman walks back into a nightclub where last time she beat the shit out of everyone and trashed the place, and she just. walks back in with that grin and says “GUESS WHO’S BAAACK” absolute queen and legend.

oh and. you KNOW i love me a strong woman, and what’s yang if not strong? like, THE powerhouse character of her team. and the worf character but let’s not go there lmao. she can easily lift a speaker 4 times her size. SHE CAN WRECK A TOP GRADE MILITARY MECH WITH ONE PUNCH. if i were to list yang’s feats of physical strength we’d be here all day but just. wow. bench me pls

but like also she has a lot of emotional strength too? like here’s a strong female character who can suplex you AND work through her problems as a multifaceted well written character. like i’ve already gone on at length about how i think yang is THE best character in rwby and her character arc is my absolute favorite, and i won’t budge on it. she went through trauma and came back swinging. i love when they do that. i loved when simon the digger did it (multiple times), i loved when matoi ryuko did it (multiple times), and i loved when yang did it THAT ONE TIME. if they make yang go through that shit again i’ll RIOT. NO MORE HURT FOR MY BABY. ONLY LOVE.

i’m making plans with @/dokiquents rn to marathon rwby together and i guaran fucking TEE that i will be YELLING when that scene in the vault happens. you know the one. i don’t wanna spoil anything in case chii reads this bc it’s kind of a huge one but like. that’s one of my favorite yang moments. she just. UNGH. SHE REALLY DID THAT. i think that might’ve been the moment where i definitively decided, “yeah, she’s the best character”

and i can’t WAIT for the next episode to drop this saturday because yall know i’ll be in the front row with eyes peeled for my sunny little dragon cause i wanna see her KICK SOME ASS!! YEAH!!!!
