i’ve been listening to smfs on repeat for over a week now and i STILL tear up hearing marvel howling at the end of the kintsugi kid. it’s such a small choice, but such an intentional one; it’s a song about the persistent longing to experience the numbness of being high all the time, capped off by a reminder of why you have to resist that longing. it’s dialectics, pure and simple, because it gives recognition to those feelings, and it says that sensation is and will always be valid, but you cannot let it win. because here’s what’s waiting for you if you keep fighting.

will never not be interesting to me how many self-described kinky or even pro-kink people will still have A Limit. they will use all sorts of buzzwords to avoid letting you know that’s what they’re doing, but it is very common for there to be a limit where THEIR fantasies are okay but YOURS must make you a bad person (zoophile, pedophile, rapist, etc.) not actions, literally just “this type of fantasy that a person only wants to engage in with other consenting adults is too far for my tastes and i will not look at why that is for me.” genuinely disconcerting.

a lot of people would benefit from realizing that the reason people in the us/uk/canada tend more toward immediate-dopamine things like watching tv, scrolling social media, etc, rather than extended-dopamine things like puzzles, really nourishing food, etc, is because of capitalism. it’s not just accidentally like this, it’s an intentional structure that makes it very very difficult to break out of — you don’t have the brain power to engage in revolutionary thought and action if you’re exclusively working, sleeping, running errands, and then trying to wind down from the crushing weight of existence. “mindless” comfort is an intentional part of the capitalist structure, and to act like people just do it because they don’t care about themselves is intentionally obtuse, unhelpful to everyone involved in the argument, and lets the bourgeoisie off the hook in this conversation
