How to Achieve Inner Peace with Transcendental Meditation
Tumblr media
Inner peace is a state of mind that is characterized by calmness, serenity, and harmony. Inner peace is the opposite of inner turmoil, which is a state of mind that is characterized by stress, anxiety, and conflict. Inner peace is essential for our well-being, happiness, and success. However, in today’s fast-paced and chaotic world, many of us find it hard to achieve and maintain inner peace. We may feel overwhelmed, restless, or dissatisfied with our lives. Fortunately, there is a simple and effective way to achieve inner peace: Transcendental Meditation ™. TM is a technique of silent mantra meditation that was introduced to the world by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the mid-1950s. Maharishi was a disciple of Guru Dev, a respected sage of the ancient Vedic tradition of India. Maharishi’s aim was to revive the ancient knowledge of TM and make it available to everyone, regardless of their background, culture, or religion. TM is a simple and natural technique that anyone can learn and enjoy. It does not require any concentration, focus, or effort. It does not involve any beliefs, rituals, or changes in lifestyle. It is simply a way of relaxing the mind to its most silent and peaceful state, which Maharishi called transcendental consciousness. TM has many benefits for your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. TM can help you reduce stress, improve your health, enhance your creativity, develop your consciousness, and more. TM can also help you achieve inner peace by: - TM releases stress and tension. Stress and tension are common causes of inner turmoil and imbalance. They can affect our mood, energy, motivation, relationships, and health. TM helps us release stress and tension by restoring balance in our nervous system. TM also increases our resilience and adaptability to challenging situations. - TM calms and clears the mind. The mind is often cluttered with thoughts, feelings, and sensations that can distract us from our true self and purpose. TM helps us calm and clear the mind by settling it to its most silent and peaceful state. TM also helps us transcend the ordinary level of thinking and access a state of pure awareness, which is beyond thoughts, feelings, and sensations. - TM harmonizes the emotions. Emotions are the feelings that we experience in response to various stimuli or situations. They can be positive or negative, pleasant or unpleasant, mild or intense, etc. TM helps us harmonize the emotions by increasing our emotional intelligence and awareness. TM also helps us regulate our emotions better by enhancing our prefrontal cortex function. - TM connects us with our inner self. The inner self is the essence of who we are and what we can achieve. It is also the source of our inner peace, happiness, and wisdom. TM helps us connect with our inner self by enabling us to access higher states of consciousness that are normally hidden or dormant in most people. These states include cosmic consciousness (the permanent experience of transcendental consciousness along with waking, dreaming, and sleeping states), god consciousness (the refined perception of the subtle aspects of nature), and unity consciousness (the realization of one’s identity with the universal self). These states bring profound insights, blissful feelings, and universal love into our life. How to Learn TM in London If you are interested in learning TM and achieving inner peace, you can contact Transcendental Meditation Mill Hill, an approved centre that offers TM courses and follow-up support in a friendly and professional environment. Benefits of working with a Wellness Coach
Tumblr media
Working with a wellness coach can help you unlock your potential and improve your overall well-being. Wellness coaching utilizes supportive and evidence-based approaches to help you reach your goals. Although they can work with clients to identify and address specific health concerns, such as weight management, prevention or management of chronic disease, and nutrition, their approach often looks to the interconnectability of each dimension of well being. Wellness coaches often have a background in healthcare or related fields, providing them with a solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, and the medical aspects of wellness. They use this knowledge to educate and empower clients, support them in setting realistic wellness goals, making sustainable lifestyle changes, and navigating health-related challenges. Overall wellness coaches can help you improve your physical, social, mental, financial, and spiritual well-being, creating a holistic, comprehensive, and motivating environment that encourages you to take action and get back on track.
Physical Well-Being
Your physical well-being is the foundation for your health. A wellness coach can help you set goals that focus on physical health, such as losing weight, increasing strength, improving flexibility, or adjusting your nutrition. They will provide resources, suggestions, and strategies to help you reach your health-related goals and guide you through any changes. A wellness coach can also work with you to create a balanced and sustainable fitness plan.
Social Well-Being
Social well-being is key to your mental and physical health. A wellness coach can help you make lasting connections with others and build meaningful relationships. They can provide support to help you develop meaningful social goals, such as networking and building social capital, managing emotions within social relationships, and developing communication skills. A wellness coach can provide support and strategies to help you manage social situations and develop relationships with supportive people who can improve your overall well-being.
Mental Well-Being
Mental well-being is essential for overall health and well-being. A wellness coach can provide support and strategies to help you identify and manage stress, anxiety, depression, negative thought patterns, or whatever may be preventing you from reaching your potential. They can help you find ways to cope with difficult situations, establish healthy boundaries, and create realistic goals.
Financial Well-Being
Financial well-being is a crucial aspect of overall well-being, and it can be difficult to navigate. A wellness coach can help you manage your finances and create strategies that fit your unique needs and goals. They can help you develop a financial plan, track your spending, and create a budget that works for you. They can create systems and structures that help you understand your finances and make decisions that are best suited for you.
Spiritual Well-Being
Your spiritual well-being encompasses the values that give your life purpose and meaning. A wellness coach can help you explore your beliefs, values, and goals, and provide you with the tools and resources to help you achieve spiritual balance. They can help you develop and maintain a positive outlook, find meaning and purpose, and develop self-awareness and self-care practices.
One important note that must be mentioned is that a wellness coach is not a replacement for engagement with a licensed physical or mental health professional, or financial advisor.  Certainly a wellness coach can, and often does, work in collaboration with such professionals to provide you with the best possible care and outcomes. A truly professional wellness coach, one that cares for you as a person not only a client, knows their boundaries related to care and guidance and when they identify a need(s) to be addressed by licensed professional(s) should recommend such.
Overall working with a wellness coach can have a powerful and long-lasting impact on your overall well-being. They can provide you with the skills, resources, and strategies to help you improve your physical, social, mental, financial, and spiritual well-being. They are there to motivate, support and encourage you to reach your goals and create lasting positive change in your life.

Dominican Health Questionnaires
Are you familiar with the Dominican health questionnaires and have you ever used them? Are you satisfied with the results if you have? Many people have asked this question before and most of them have responded "yes". The questionnaires are easy to understand and cover all aspects. It helps the doctors and other health experts to evaluate the current situation as well as forecast the future of the health conditions in the nation. This is very important in order for them to be able to do many things right now in order to protect the welfare of the Dominican people.
http://ru.ivisa.com/dominica-health-questionnaire
Dominican health questionnaires come in different styles. Some are more formal, while others are more casual. There are even some that have been compiled into reports as well. However, it depends on the need of the project or the focus of the questionnaire. This collection includes many different types of questionnaires. These include health questions that deal with the physical, mental, social, economic, and even spiritual well-being of the individuals.
As what have been mentioned, there are different kinds of Dominican health questionnaires. These questionnaires can be made in different formats. The common ones include the two-question form (which mainly contains inquiries regarding the major groups of the population) and the four-question form (which mostly has four questions). These two types are used to assess the health and well-being of the entire population. The four-question form, on the other hand, is used to assess the local situation. Both the two-question as well as the four-question forms are available online.
Another important thing about these health questionnaires is that they also have several objectives. Most of them have the purpose of analyzing the progress of the health in the past years and the future projections. They have been used to plan the development of the local community and government. The health questionnaires were used to determine the needs of the local hospital, food market, school, or playground, as well as the various housing types.
Dominican health questionnaires have been used to gather information on different groups of people, such as on the demographics, social and economic aspects, as well as personal factors such as the sex, height, age, weight, and the education. The Dominican Health questionnaires have helped us to improve our society in many other ways. It has been used in the process of measuring the performance of nurses in hospitals, the monitoring of schools and their activities, the performance of health facilities in the community, the evaluation of schools and the way it is run, the evaluation of community organizations and its activities, the assessment of the welfare programs of the community, the evaluation of the work of teachers in the school, and the evaluation of the rehabilitation of addicts. All of these questionnaires have helped the authorities and the community to address their problems more effectively.
The Dominican Health questionnaires may have different quality in different countries. Some might be qualitative and others might be quantitative. You can use qualitative methods to research a specific health question or any other topic. This will ensure that your results will be more valid and reliable. On the other hand, if you want your data to be quantitative, you should choose the Dominican Health questionnaires which are based on the traditional and basic surveying techniques.

Resources
When I write a note to a parent or in response to some of the asks I’ve received, I will sometimes share a few links of resources or info. I’m sharing these for anyone to access or to share. These are not organized in any sort of order, but I’ll give a brief description of each one.
1)  The Ten Tips for Parents on mormonandgay are good. And since it’s from a church-sponsored site, members will accept this without much criticism.
2)  Listen Learn & Love is a website by Richard Ostler. He's a former bishop who has made loving LGBT Mormons his ministry. The site has links to many useful resources. In his podcast, Richard speaks to many queer people (some who are still in the LDS church and some who have moved on) and lets them tell their story. I think the podcast is very useful for queer members to hear people who went through, or are currently going through, things that they do. And for non-queer people, I think they’ll be moved by hearing the experiences & thoughts of queer people in their own words.
3)  I think the Family Acceptance Project’s pamphlet for LDS families is excellent. Basically it says to accept & love your kid.
4)  PFLAG has resources for families of LGBT individuals. They focus on supporting those in need, education & advocating to create a better world for LGBTQ+ people, friends, family & neighbors (and I’ve been really impressed with their Provo, UT office). PFLAG has chapters in many nations.
5)  This is a TedTalk that speaks to reasons why Nature creates homosexuals and includes some of the character traits of gay people compared to the general population.
6)  When I come across church members who think that homosexuality is a choice, I refer them to this document put together by Dr. Bill Bradshaw. He is a BYU researcher/professor and a former mission president. He summarizes the research showing the LGBTQ orientations are biologic, not a choice or caused by parenting or cultural influences.
7)  This is long, but is the best write up I’ve seen about the LDS church’s history on homosexuality while explaining what this is like for gay Mormons. Bryce Cook put this together and it was peer-reviewed and published. It does a good job in showing that change has happened, and we can expect more change to come.
8)    Taylor Petrey is a professor who in this presentation gives me many things to think about regarding gays & lesbians and Mormonism. He speaks about a post-heterosexual Mormon theology and points out how heterosexuality is not present in many LDS creation stories. He speaks like an academic, but is so thought provoking
9)  This is a simple to follow explanation of why temple sealings for gay couples makes sense. Useful for when members say that temple sealings for gay couples can NEVER be.
10)  Josh & Lolly Weed are the most famous example of a gay man & straight woman in a marriage. They have been very open about their experiences. This is the blog post where they announced their divorce. It is very illuminating and does a great job of explaining why this sort of marriage really doesn’t work for most gay people.
11)  This is dense, but it’s a listing of all sorts of queer people and relationships in Church history (we’ve been a part of the Church since the beginning). I think it’s fascinating to read about these people, the way they were treated and influence they had.
12)  This is a video about coming out, but from a very different point of view. It’s about coming out as straight, but I found it to be sweet and relatable.
13)  This is a humorous video about coming out as gay by Wanda Sykes
14)  Family Fellowship Support Group on Facebook is meant to help  Mormon moms & dads learn how to parent their gay child. It’s a closed group so only members of the group can see what’s posted.
15)  Transactive LDS is a private group for transgender individuals or family members.
16)  Carol Lynn Pearson is a Mormon who was married to a gay man. She’s the OG of LDS allies to the queer community. You may be familiar with some of their work like My Turn On Earth. She has written several books that are, in one way or another, about being gay in the church (Goodbye, I Love You; No More Goodbyes; and The Hero's Journey of Gay and Lesbian Mormons). Most famously she wrote the Primary song “I’ll Walk with You” and she was imagining singing this to gay children as she wrote it.
17)  Tom Christofferson, brother of the apostle D Todd Christofferson, is a gay man who came back to church and wrote a book titled That We May Be One: A Gay Mormon's Perspective on Faith and Family. He emphasizes the inclusion he received from his family, and from his ward when he wanted to come back. Here's an article summarizing parts of his story
18)  Affirmation is the oldest organization for LDS/post-LDS LGBTQ+ individuals, family and allies. They have multiple Facebook pages for people in different spots of their faith journey/in what way you’re queer/if you’re an ally or parent of a queer child.
19)   Dragon Dads is a closed Facebook group for Dads to gain support, process & support their children who are LGBTQ+ in healthy ways
20)   Mama Dragons is for moms of LGBTQIA kids, the purpose is to support healthy lives
21)   The Human Rights Campaign has an online booklet for LGBT Mormons
22)   Gay Mormon History is a site that lets people explore the history of LGBT issues in the LDS Church
23)   Elder Ballard said “We need to listen to and understand what our LGBT brothers and sisters are feeling and experiencing. Certainly, we must do better than we have done in the past so that all members feel they have a spiritual home where their brothers and sisters love them and where they have a place to worship and serve the Lord.” (BYU Question and Answer devotional from November 2017)
24)   In the best BYU devotional ever given on the subject, BYU professor Eric Huntsmans “Hard Sayings and Safe Spaces”
25)  Many LGBT members find themselves at the church schools. USGA & USGA-Rexburg are organizations where they can meet other queer people.
26)  Members of the LGBTQ community experience are at higher risk of committing suicide than the general public. The Trevor Project helps people ages 13-24. The National Suicide Prevention Hotline is available to anyone in the US. The Trans Lifeline is available in the US & Canada and it works to end transgender suicide and improve overall mental health of transgender people.
27)  Our Asexual & Aromantic church members have a closed Facebook group for them & their allies.
28)  Many LGBT people step away from the LDS church. The Thoughtful Transitions Support Group on Facebook is meant to a safe space for people to heal and grow
29)  If you or a loved one needs therapy, there’s several options. If they are a university student in the US, they likely can access services free-of-charge at their school. Another option is to check your insurance and find the mental health professionals in your area that are covered. Try contacting the psychology dept at a local university for leads on a good therapist, or perhaps they offer some counseling services to non-students. Some members of the LDS church feel more comfortable going to see a therapist who is also LDS or who is familiar with the church. The Mormon Mental Health Association has a listing of such therapists arranged by US state & Calgary, Canada.

Benefits of Reiki Treatments
There are lots of advantages of Reiki. Reiki is a straightforward process, but produces quite profound outcomes. The purpose of a treatment is not only to support the body, but also to encourage a mind so that you can experience pleasure in life. The excellent thing about reiki is that you doesn't need to be sick to go through the positive aspects. Some come to Reiki when transitions are happening in their own lives or to assist with their energy levels, handling the stress of daily life. Experience a greater sense of meaning in life and others will come to develop themselves spiritually. So reiki helps them to maintain that stability in order that they can respond to the challenges 28, many of my customers are well and need to stay that way. Many who come for coaching vs therapy ptsd or Reiki training realise that balancing their methods might help them to deal better with a vast range of health conditions, including stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain and infertility to mention a couple.
1. Promotes Harmony & Balance
Reiki helps to promote equilibrium and stability. It is a powerful, non invasive energy healing modality that improves the body's natural healing ability whilst energising and promoting overall wellness. Reiki works right on restoring balance and works on condition and the issue instead of just masking or relieving symptoms.
2. Creates deep relaxation and helps the body release stress and tension
What men and women like about a therapy that is reiki is it allows them where they are not'performing' but just'being'. Clients have reported feeling lighter, peaceful, relaxed and more clear .
3. Dissolves energy cubes and promotes natural equilibrium between body, mind and spirit
Normal Reiki treatments can cause a more serene and calmer state of being, in which there is a person able to cope with everyday stress. Memory, learning and mental clarity is also enhanced by this psychological balance. Mental/emotional wounds can heal and can help alleviate frustration, anxiety, mood swings and anger. Personal relationships treat and may also strengthen.
4. Assists the body in cleansing itself from toxins and supports the immune system
We spend so much time in stress-reactive fight/flight phase it becomes our'standard' and also our bodies forget to return to balance. Reiki educates our bodies the way to shift to parasympathetic nervous system (rest / digest) self-healing mode.
5. Clears the brain and enhances focus as you feel rested & centred
Reiki can support you in remaining focused in the present moment rather than getting caught up in regrets about the past or anxieties. It can strengthen your ability to accept and work with how events are unfolding even when they don't follow timetable or your desires. You start to respond to situations, individuals and yourself in a manner that is supportive rather than acting our of habit.
6. Compliments other therapies & treatment
Reiki is a wonderful compliment to medicine and helps relax patients on the brain and body's levels. The healing procedure is accelerated, when a patient is relaxed. People today sleep far better and are more moderate following Reiki treatments. The beauty of Reiki is that it is non invasive and is administered in a gentle manner. The Reiki practitioner can give Reiki without touching the body in circumstances where patients have injuries or burns.
Tumblr media
Reiki is safe to use if you have medical conditions like diabetes, epilepsy or heart problems. You will get Reiki treatments if you're undergoing. Woman can have Reiki treatments to support them. Reiki is for everybody!

Is Yoga Good For Your Spine?
Yoga is a mind and body exercise with historical origins in ancient Indian philosophy. Different styles of yoga unite bodily postures, breathing methods, and relaxation or meditation.
In 5,000 years of yoga background, the term "yoga" has gone through a renaissance in present society, exchanging the loincloth to get a leotard and leggings.
Yoga is now popular as a kind of physical exercise predicated upon asanas (physical evaluations) to encourage enhanced control of body and mind and to enhance well-being, helping avoid a lot of spine problems and back pain.
Tumblr media
Here are a few facts regarding yoga:
The word "yoga" is derived from the Sanskrit root "yuj" meaning "to yoke or join." Some folks take this to imply a union of mind and body.
According to a market study in 2008, there are about 16 million people in the United States that practice yoga and spend at least $5.7 billion on yoga equipment per year.
Hatha yoga is the sort of yoga most often practiced in Western culture. "Ha" means "sun" and "tha" means "moon."
There are lots of styles of yoga. An individual's fitness level and desirable practice outcome determines the sort of yoga class on which they're best suited.
There have been over 7,369 yoga-related accidents treated in doctors' offices, clinics, and emergency areas in 2010 according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Overstretching the spine, neck, legs, shoulders, and knees, as well as repetitive strain, are just some of the frequent yoga injuries.
Even the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) believes the rewards of yoga outweigh the potential physical dangers.
Yoga is described as having eight limbs or branches: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyhara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi.
Practicing yoga has many possible health benefits including relieving low back pain, assisting with anxiety management and increasing flexibility and balance.
There is some evidence to suggest that pregnant women taking yoga courses are far less likely to experience problems in subsequent pregnancy and labor.
The Background of Yoga
There is not any written document of the inventor of yoga. Yogis (yoga practitioners) practiced yoga long before any written account of this came into existence. Yogis within the millennia handed down the discipline for their students and several distinct schools of yoga developed because the practice widened in international reach and fame.
Sanskrit, the Indo-European terminology of the Vedas, India's early spiritual texts, also gave birth to the literature and the method of yoga. The "Yoga Sutra," a 2,000-year-old treatise on yogic doctrine from the Indian sage Patanjali is a type of guidebook that gives guidance about the best way best to gain control over the mind and emotions and advice on spiritual development, providing the framework upon which yoga practiced today is based.
Tumblr media
The Yoga Sutra is the earliest written record of yoga and also one of the oldest texts in life.
The Sanskrit word "yoga" has many translations and can be translated in a variety of ways. Many translations purpose toward translations of "to yoke," "join," or "focus" - essentially a way to unite or a process of discipline. A male who practices this subject is referred to as a yogi or yogin plus a female professional is known as a yogini.
The positions that are now an integral component of health and fitness in many facilities around the world were not initially a dominant part of yoga traditions in India. Fitness was not a chief aim of training; the focus has been placed on other practices such as pranayama (expansion of the very important energy by means of breath), Dharana (concentration, or placement of the emotional faculty), also nada (sound).
Yoga began to gain recognition in the West at the end of the 19th century, with an explosion of interest in Pilates at the 1920s and 1930s, first in India and later in the West.
Different Types of Yoga
Modern forms of yoga have significantly evolved to exercise focusing on strength, flexibility, and breathing to boost physical and mental well-being. There are many types of yoga, and no style is more authentic or superior to another; the secret is to decide on a class suitable for your fitness level.
Types and styles of yoga:
Ashtanga yoga: There are ancient yoga teachings found in the 1970s where it indicates that each of the six sequences of postures links every motion of the body rapidly.
Bikram yoga: kept in heated rooms at temperatures of nearly 105 degrees and 40% humidity, so Bikram is a collection of 26 poses and chain of two breathing exercises.
Hatha yoga: a generic term for any type of yoga which teaches physical postures. When a class is tagged as "hatha," it is generally a gentle introduction to the fundamental yoga postures.
Iyengar yoga: concentrated on locating the appropriate alignment in every pose and utilizing props such as blocks, blankets, straps, chairs and bolsters to achieve that
Jivamukti yoga: significance, "liberation when alive," Jivamukti yoga emerged in 1984, integrating religious teachings and vinyasa design exercise. Each class has a subject, which is explored through yoga scripture, chanting, meditation, asana, pranayama, and songs, and could be physically extreme.
Kripalu yoga: teaches practitioners to get to know, accept and learn from your system. In a Kripalu class, each student chooses to find their own level of training on a particular evening by day looking inward. The courses usually begin with breathing exercises and gentle stretches, accompanied by a collection of patient poses and last relaxation.
Kundalini Yoga: the Sanskrit word kundalini means coiled, like a snake. Kundalini Yoga is a system of meditation aimed toward the discharge of kundalini energy. A class generally begins with rebounds and ends with singing, also in between attributes asana, pranayama, and meditation intended to make a specific outcome.
Power yoga: an energetic and athletic type of yoga accommodated in the traditional Ashtanga method in the late 1980s.
Sivananda: a system predicated on a five-point philosophy that holds that appropriate breathing, relaxation, diet, exercise, and positive thinking function with each other to produce a healthy yogic way of life. Commonly uses the same 12 basic asanas, bookended by sun salutations and savasana presents.
Viniyoga: meant to be adaptive to any person, irrespective of physical skill, viniyoga educators are needed to be trained and have a tendency to be experts on anatomy and treatment.
Yin: a quiet, meditative yoga exercise, also known as Taoist yoga. Yin yoga enables the discharge of tension in joints: ankles, knees, buttocks, the entire back, neck, and shoulders. Yin presents are passive, meaning the muscles must be relaxed while gravity does the job.
Prenatal yoga: yoga postures carefully adapted for people that are pregnant. Prenatal yoga is made to help individuals in all phases of pregnancy and can support people in getting back to shape after pregnancy.
Restorative yoga: a relaxing way of yoga, investing a course in four or five simple poses using props like blankets and strengthens to sink into deep relaxation without exerting some effort in carrying the pose.
Benefits of Doing Yoga
1. Improves your flexibility
Increased flexibility is one of the first and most obvious benefits of yoga. Throughout your first class, you probably will not have the ability to touch your toes, never mind do a backbend. But if you stay with it, you will notice a gradual loosening, and eventually, seemingly impossible poses will become potential. You will also probably notice that pains and pains start to disappear. That's no coincidence. Tight shoulders can breed the knee joint as a result of the improper alignment of the thigh and shin bones. Tight hamstrings can result in a portion of the lumbar spine, which may lead to back pain. And inflexibility in muscles and connective tissues, such as fascia and ligaments, can cause poor posture.
2. Builds muscle strength
Strong muscles do more than look great. They also protect us in conditions like arthritis and back pain and help prevent falls in older men and women. When you build strength through yoga, then you balance it with flexibility. If you just moved into the gym and lifted weights, you could build strength at the cost of flexibility.
3. Perfects your posture
Your head is like a bowling ball - big, circular, and hefty. When your head is balanced perfectly over a vertical spine, there's less work for your back and neck muscles to help support it. Move it several inches ahead, however, and you also begin to strain those muscles. Imagine holding a bowling ball while leaning forward for eight or 12 hours each day, no wonder you're tired! And fatigue might not be your only problem. Poor posture can cause neck, back, and other joint and muscle problems. As you slump, your body can compensate for flattening the standard inward curves in your neck and lower back. This may result in pain and degenerative arthritis of the spine.
4. Prevents joint and cartilage breakdown
Each time you practice yoga, you simply take your muscles through their entire selection of movement. This can help prevent degenerative arthritis or mitigate handicap by "squeezing and soaking" regions of cartilage which normally are not utilized. Joint cartilage is like a sponge; it receives new nutrients only if its fluid is squeezed out and a new supply can be soaked up. Without appropriate sustenance, failed regions of cartilage may finally wear out, exposing the underlying bone-like weary brake pads.
5. Protects your backbone
Spinal discs - the shock absorbers between the vertebrae that may herniate and compress nerves - crave movement. That's the only way they receive their nourishment. Once you practice doing a well-balanced asana posture with a lot of forwarding bends, backbends, and twists, you'll be able to keep your spinal discs flexible.
6. Helps you focus
An important component of yoga is focusing on the present. Studies have found that regular yoga practice improves coordination, reaction time, memory, and even IQ scores. Those who practice Transcedental Meditation demonstrate and gain the ability to remember information better and solve problems because their concentration is better. They're less distracted by their thoughts which can sometimes play over and over again like an endless loop.

My Earthseed Community Blog
This may sound entirely all over the place but I learned something very valuable from having to write this blog. It is incredibly difficult to build a movement, but it is also ok to try and fail. I was acting like my actual life depended on this community I created for this blog, and I think that is the nature of the time we are living in now and the atmosphere it creates. I also was reminded that it took Lauren Olamina, our badass protagonist of Parable of the Sower, years to create Earthseed. So this is my first shot/idea & I hope I can expand upon it / be mindful it as I go about my business from now on :)
TWO (2) real-life issues that make it necessary to create your Earthseed community.
           (1) Environmental injustice, specifically environmental racism which perpetuates the disproportionate impact of environmental hazards on People of Color. This includes the intentional dumping of hazardous waste in Communities of Color, lack of funding for initiatives to spread awareness of environmental impact in low-income Communities of Color, refusal to address the issue of or even provide clean water to Communities of Color (Flint, MI), disrupting clean water access (Dakota Access Pipeline), and more. Institutions have the power and monetary resources to aid in and prevent these situations from happening in the first place, but refuse to due in part to a lack of care and a blatant racism towards Communities of Color.
           (2) Late-stage capitalism, specifically surveillance capitalism: users being seen and treated as a raw material, with extreme customization mastered for the purposes of manipulation of consumer behavior (e.g. the Amazon Echo/Alexa, the located based PokemonGo game) which has ultimately defined people as sources and as cash cows to be controlled, rather than as customers or users. This has lead to almost total reliance on corporate actors / big businesses to make decisions for people and to maintain power over people. In this sense, the community is seeking shelter from corporate manipulation and an impending inability to make any decisions on our own.
As a whole, we are seeking shelter from real, felt injustice and forming a community to recognize our agency and power to make decisions, and to use that to eventually create a more just society.
Earthseed verses
(1) “Belief initiates and guides action—or it does nothing.” (Butler, 1993, p. 47)
Our Earthseed community must be action-oriented, and not will not idly sit around and wait for issues to solve themselves. Given that folks will have strong belief in justice—seeing that we had to escape from injustice in the first place—we recognize its necessity not only for ourselves but for the world.  We must believe in our own agency and power—rather than rely on institutions to have so much power over us—to affect change, from simple acts of love and compassion towards one another to creating large scale impacts collectively. We believe in the potential of humankind to be just, inclusive, and compassionate toward one another, and we use that to organize ourselves for big acts of advocacy and demonstration, and through our everyday, simple acts of love toward one another and our environment.
(2) “All struggles Are essentially power struggles. Who will rule, Who will lead, Who will define, refine, confine, design, Who will dominate. All struggles Are essentially power struggles, And most are no more intellectual than two rams knocking their heads together” (Butler, 1993, p. 94)
Our Earthseed community, acknowledges the ability of hierarchy to destroy. It is guided by collective contribution and relies on dialogue spaces to understand one another and build from differences, rather than create barriers due to them.  We must acknowledge that not one single person is all-knowing or “right” or above the rest, but that collaboration and question-posing among one another will be needed to guide collective action. We did not form community to create a system of oppression all over again. In our escape from surveillance capitalism, we recognized the ways in which money and materials has been given value to create extreme differences in power which have created extreme class divides.  We have been viewed as useful only for means of working and for consuming. We have been exploited while only a small percentage thrive, and we seek to prevent a system like this within our own community.
WHERE you will create your Earthseed community to be safe.
Somewhere away from heavily-populated large metropolitan cities, yet close enough to be accessible to folks who need the safe space to grow the most. In the central California area could be a good place to start, but ultimately hope the community can mobilize and become more nomadic after some years of establishment and collective organization.  We have to have a place where sustainable practices and proximity to unbothered nature are a reality, but the overall point after years of establishing and refining our community practices will be to spread the message of collaboration, accountability and empowerment.
Who can join your community and why? Who can’t join? Why not?
Anyone who demonstrates a willingness to collaborate, understands what it means to occupy space, and has a clear understanding of injustice and the necessity of building coalitions to help eradicate issues. No one will be excluded except that they explicitly pose a threat to justice and collectiveness and who refuse to seek understanding of different backgrounds, but our community is targeted towards marginalized communities in that it seeks to eradicate issues that are much more readily relatable for those of us from marginalized identities.
Leadership Model
Since the community is rooted in collectivism and putting power into the hands of the people, the leadership model must have collaborative aims. Leaders must exist in constant communication with the community. That is, they will not live separately from the people they are meant to serve, or gain monetary benefits or visible markers of difference (clothing, headwear, etc.) for their ability to lead. A triune system, comprised of people chosen by the community will be set up at least at first to establish stability for community.  These three leaders will be in collaboration with one another, and commune to express the interests and ideas of the people they work and collaborate with every day. One leader will be intentionally responsible for spiritual, mental and relational formation—connecting folks to one another through dialoguing spaces each week and ensuring mental health is a priority in the community. Another will spearhead logistics for community organizing efforts and be responsible for effective communication with each other—including implementing feedback—and spreading the goals of the Earthseed community to those unaware of its goals or of is existence. Another will focus on sustainability, focusing on practical ways to coexist with our environment without harming it, as well as ensuring conditions are not only survivable but provide a lasting ability for people to thrive.
a FUTURE TECHNOLOGY (one on the horizon, not something like teleportation or time travel) to help improve life at your Earthseed community.
The future technology will be most helpful to practical survival, in terms of sustenance and overall well-being. Relying phone technology, our future technology will be a “nature reader” of sorts – a device that will be able to scan things like plants, soils, insect and provide information on not only what they are comprised of and practical uses, but of our impact when using them—whether its harmful or useful. The community can add more information to the device as it is discovered along the way, making it an eventual community-built library of information. For example, whereas an encyclopedia entry may have provided an herbs origins and historical uses, a community member could add to the system that they found it to be particularly useful when mixing it with something else for example to heal a cut. This library is not built to make profits or to sell certain products, but to help one another find helpful uses for different items we have access to while encouraging one another to come up with innovative ways to use seemingly simple resources.
How your Earthseed community will SURVIVE.
Through effective communication, collaboration, and—as explored in the previous prompt—helping each other find various helpful uses for seemingly simple items. I think a community thrives when its members are valued and feel valued. So, instead of just assigning random roles for people to do certain tasks, everyone can try their hand at something different and discover where their strengths lie and where they can develop. Where some members may be particularly good at gardening, that does not mean they are confined to this for their time spent in the community. They are encouraged and supported to share knowledge—the weekly dialogue spaces could be good for this—and to seek other passions as well.  The same goes for someone who might be particularly skilled at computing, or cooking, or fitness, etc. The whole point is to learn from one another as a baseline. We have to understand one another—which does not necessarily mean agree—in order to even begin organizing to spread a message of justice.
TWO steps your Earthseed community will make to build a better future, i.e. education, housing, conservation, farming, etc.
(1) collaborative education, with emphasis on environment (inspired by Paolo Freire’s principles) Freirean education seeks to empower people, to valid people’s ability to pose questions and to work together to pose solutions, rather than looking to one person for a “right” answer. With this being promoted and implement within community, new ideas will surely arise as people will feel valued, supportive, and like we are a part of something meaningful. There is an emphasis on environment since a lack of awareness about it has been leveraged against people of our community.
(2) sustainability practices, including gardening, composting, and recycling. While acknowledging that corporations must be held accountable for real environmental change to happen, our community can still make a powerful group effort in our space in order to reduce the harm to the environment. By actively practicing intentional care of our earth, we can see nature as our ally and as something we can contribute positively to as well. This promotes agency and empowerment without emphasis on material gain.

Witchy note before beginning New Moon Ritual:
Snow brings so much to me
I love and appreciate what it symbolizes to me as well
Rebirth- growth, refreshed. Restart. Build over. Covering footsteps of the past. Leaving no trace or clear boundary of where earth and water begin. Reflection, light bearing, soft, beautiful but also dangerous if not respected. (Not very different from Lava now that I think about it!)
Being able to gaze upon it, especially while reflecting with friends from the heart over the phone, has been such a healing experience.
I think seeing beauty in front of me helped me process the beauty in everything and the beauty that was happening now and around me- with our conversation and time together, and even helped me see the beauty in me- which I will say is rare for me to be aware of, that self reflection and self love. (Have I ever realized over the past few days, how life is definitely a team sport! At least for most of us- I imagine the only people that don’t, live a solo life- in the woods/mountains- in a cabin chopping wood, etc.)
I feel Nature could be the best medicine for any ailing mind, body, spirit, even soul. Or someone experiencing all of the above.
Just wish I could remember its with me everywhere, and able to be carried anywhere- my hands, feet, eyes, ears, etc.
Best way to help me fight those unwanted animalistic behaviors humans biologically have on the daily, yo.
Fight those unwanted animalistic behaviors I feel don’t help me be the best that I am. Nature, help remind me that I am human, and human only. Full of imagination, power of creation, light and love, but also mistakes and unrealized behaviors. We must walk in self-love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and humor.
Hope/Wonder probably wouldn’t hurt either. ;)
Alright! New Moon Ritual Time!
Sat. ~2:30PM

Have been really digging listening to podcasts made by WOC - “Thanks For Your Concern” and “The Self- Love Fix” podcast to name a few
Been really enjoying the work rituals that have fallen into place- naturally happened. Maybe feel that out with home as well?
I’ve been heavily enjoying journaling during my break, and listening to motivating self love podcast.
Gives me a sense of calm. Peace. Closeness to self, or at least closer before approaching an unpredictable day. (A fear I am working more on facing- unpredictability. A moment of calm/self time/moment/quiet/no distractions/focus/freshness before doing anything, especially outside, helps a lot in this area.)
This cycle’s crystal pack: Business, Motivation, Self-Love, Creativity, Human/Civil/Social-Justice/Rights, Identity
Fluorite: Business, motivation, creativity, self-work
Jade: Business, justice,
Lodestone: business, motivation, spirituality (find your path),
Malachite: Business, self work, transformation
Tiger’s Eye: creativity, success (business), self-work,
Tourmaline: business, self-work, transformation, self-love
Amethyst: Justice, self-work, creativity
Carnelian: Justice, creativity, self—work,
Rose Quartz: Justice, self-love
Tarot Reading: (2 cards fell out, as soon as I started to ask- and got paranoid they were not the cards. I looked at them anyway, just in case. Guess what. I shuffled, cleared the mind, shuffled, cut the deck and pulled the bottom of the deck- rare for me to do for the moon ritual. ALL THAT IS HOLY. The cards were the same xD Hilarious. Thank goodness my deck and the universe is so kind, especially with my suspicions and paranoia. XD)
Ace of Wands: Good Judgement needed more than ever, don’t rush into it. Thrilling to embark on new journey- growth all around, ideas and outlook expand, creativity seems endless. Fertile time- Expansion and Inspiration
The Sun (Also in last Full Moon’s reading): Spend some extra time outside today, be grateful for the radiance of the sun and the life force it gives all creatures. Soaking in warm rays- nourishing, healing, all aches and pains fade away. Sun brings amazing energy into life, Vitality and health abound-feel assurance and clarity in all doings- Vitality, enlightenment.
As a story/together: interesting- there is something big in the center for both of these cards. The Ace of Wands- the center is a radiating blooming wand- (Ume? Shinya and I were talking about? Blooming before spring?) Surrounded by a white light/glowing, and radiating yellow to orange to red, outward. Beautiful. The sun card is bordered with doves flying in each corner direction, away from the center, two up and two down, NE, SE, SW, NW- the center, red hot black sun. Radiating from the darkness, rods, strands, energies, beams, fractals of light, energy, saturation, color and burst-forth ness, but smoothly, from the center of eternity and forever- it seems. Vitality. Goes from black, to red, to orange, to yellow, to green at the birds, and blue beyond that. Radiating further outward when coming from the depths. Ace of wands powerful, beautiful, radiant, but the Sun is vibrant- beaming from a deeper darker place, but shining and bringing forth oh so much light and warmth. Ooooo.. tell-tale of self reflection, love and how it will help me fight for justice?
Rune Reading:
Fehu (again interestingly) - Wealth, especially-
“livestock, especially cattle. Latin made the same associations—our word “pecuniary” comes from the Latin pecus, a cow—demonstrating that for the early Indo-Europeans, wealth was not only transferable, but could move under its own power. Like the Celts, the early Germanic peoples were a cattle culture. Dairy products were a staple of the diet. The most valued beasts were kept through the winter in one end of the communal longhouse. The animals which could not be fed until spring were sacrificed to honor the gods and feed the people. One way or another, wealth was counted in cows.
Wealth to be guarded, not hoarded- “Nor should it lull one into a false sense of security. Welcome though it may be, it must be taken as a gift of the gods. Neither the fruits of the earth nor the love of others can ever be owned (the last verse implies a special warning not to treat women as property!). They are loaned to us only, to be used productively and shared with others. True riches are the wealth the soul gains from a life well-lived.”
“Meanings ascribed to this rune by modern commentators range from the mystical to the practical. Willis believes that the kind of wealth represented by cattle is that which grows when cared for, which can produce more money when wisely invested, but that the rune sometimes means the need to conserve resources. Thorsson, on the other hand, sees in the rune motion and expansion of power, mobility, luck, and fertility.
FEHU is always a rune of productivity, though the context may vary. Spiritual or artistic creativity, physical fertility, or the ability to create or to maintain wealth can be indicated, or it may signify an improvement in one's finances or health.
FEHU is one of the runes used to invoke passion, productivity, and prosperity in a couple being married. (And gardening growth/nourishment!)
Advice Card Reading: (The Four Agreements)
Be Ware of Unconcious Assumptions
Become a White Witch (with my word as well- the biggest!)
