Shamballa is... a Movie... that Exists...

wanna start by saying I don't... hate the movie. It's actually the thing that introduced me to fma, so I do have a bit of a soft spot for it. That being said... god it's so boring 😩

like okay lemme point out the things I like first. the animation and music are great. Shamballa's soundtrack is SO good, and the animation is beautiful. Ed being stuck in a parallel world living with parallel versions of people he loves/cares about?? Really great concept, love the angst of it. I don't like Alfons at all, but the idea of Ed living with the parallel version of his brother was a nice touch. Noah's a great character and her relationship with Ed is very sweet. Ed returning home, reuniting with Winry, the banter with Mustang? Really great, I love it. Al and Wrath's relationship, while short, was nice. And I'm glad Wrath finally found peace. Hohenheim of Light dying? Peak Cinema tbh. And, while it isn't really Shamballa, we got the Chibi Wrap Party out of it, and I love that ova a lot. Oh and Ed & Al's first reunion was really cute, although I wish the hug was with Al's real body :/ (also Shamballa Ed is so pretty... I wanna steal his gender)

But the rest... god it's such a snooze fest. When I rewatched it last year, I was really struggling to pay attention because of how bored I was. Ed running around Germany did not interest me at all, and I wish they'd had him go home a bit sooner, only to then realize he couldn't stay. It takes them forever to introduce Alphonse (30 minutes????) which is a real shame considering his Shamballa design is adorable, and he's my favorite Elric brother, so yknow... I'd like to see him. Other than Roy returning towards the end, I don't remember him doing like. Anything in this movie. I mean, he does things, I know that. He closes the gate and helps fight, but like... he just felt so pointless. Izumi dying off screen was kinda lame imo like I get they had to remove some things, but Izumi feels like such an important fma character and killing her off screen felt weird to me. Bradley's parallel version being a real life Jewish man?? Incredibly unnecessary. The villain, I don't remember her name, was so boring, which is a real shame when 03 has Dante, who, while I'm not a huge fan of, was certainly more interesting than this lady. I also personally don't care for the ending. Like I'm glad Ed and Al are finally together, but I also don't like that they're stuck in our world.

Overall I don't hate the movie, but I don't love it either. When I rewatch 03 again sometime later this year, I'll probably just skip it. I don't feel like I'd be missing anything, and I kinda dig the way the last episode ends tbh

Also, if what I read was right, it was originally meant to be a mini series? Shame they weren't able to go through with that, it could have been really good.

No but Vegaspete?! They- they did that… I would have never expected for Pete to make the first move (but I’m so glad he did and the other thing he did as well omg) and for it to be so intense and so tender at the same time. Vegas’ soft kisses ended my whole entire career and Pete looking up at him like that the whole time, I’m fine. Also the preview for today’s episode and them holding hands while Vegas is caressing Pete’s one so softly 😩 we better get a spiderman kiss or wound kiss so I can yeet myself to space again.

Then our one and only husbands in love kinnporsche 🥹 They were absolutely the cutest last episode! Every time I think they can’t get any more domestic there’s Kinn being the perfect boyfriend and supporting Porsche in whatever he needs, I love them so much. They were such a happy little family sitting there outside with Chay and the bread lmao but yes, invite the other brothers as well and let Korn pay for all the lies and bullshit he’s done bc we all know he will never tell the full truth.. Also the red scene made me so emotional and knowing that tonight stuff can go wrong again, I’m not prepared 😭

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, KIM INDEED! Cat I died when he showed up, my mouth dropped to the floor and I was screaming like a baby. He looked so freaking fine and this side of him, truly superior! And MOOD! I only had one thought and it’s Kim telling me to sit down, I’d be like *i’m sat* lol. aljhgdljagdh and yeah red fountain is super strict about medical training. since it's a military school and most of the students go on missions or will be in danger at some point, they want to make sure everyone knows at least the basics. plus, there's even more training to account for different species!

the trix are terrifying honestly. my drs in general were more "realistic" and mature so all the villains were serious problems. the thing that makes the trix so scary for us is that they keep coming back. it brings up a lot of trauma and you constantly wonder if someone else will come back too (thanks valtor for affirming that fear 🙄).

valtor is super gross imo alhgdjdalg like as a cartoon villain, sure. he's not that bad. he's not my type but i can see why people like his looks. but in person??? terrifying. and you're right he did have some **** vibes!! specifically with bloom like we hate him so much. thankfully nothing happened but the whole "we're born from the same power come work with me" thing was just.... eugh.

and yesss tecna and timmy are so cute!! she's taller than him by a few inches now but before she was literally like a head above him. plus she wears boots a lot so that just adds to her height aljhgdljad he thinks it's hot though so no worries

stella and brandon are the best!! they support each other so much! and yeah brandon is just a very classic handsome to me. like i could literally see him being the love interest in a 90s movie yknow?
