Rating Reiwa Final Forms (part 1)

I was gonna wait till the Reiwa era is over but who knows how long that’ll be

Aruto Hiden’s Zero Two

It’s Never Over! Like Faiz Blaster, it has the problem of being too similar to the original form, but this improves on it by having some clearer differences from the base form. I do like the “02″ kerchief on the neck, and it being a separate belt (and by that I mean a Zero One Driver with something added onto it) means more than just Aruto can use it, like what Izu did.

Touma Kamiyama’s Xross Saber

It’s a pretty suit. While it’s still just a repainted Saber Brave Dragon, that fact that it’s hand painted is genuinely impressive to me. The color scheme does give it a dreamy look, and it genuinely looks like a final form to me.

Ikki Igarashi and Vice’s Ultimate Revice 

It’s armor over the base suits. Very fun, and while it’s not what you’d expect from a final form, still does the job well. They went from trans icons to bi icons and that’s glorious as well. They leave a bit to be desired, but that can be forgiven.

This showcase of pre-transformation holograms is honestly a bit lacking for such a wide shot. Also a bit weird that Ikki’s and Vice’s desire drivers project the Giffard Rex hologram when they’re not using Giffard Rex buckles.

Dear Gaga is a gift to mankind in that we get to see Junya Komatsu's acting and singing chops (the ED was Without You but with him singing solo). Like, seriously, how on Earth did Kamen Rider get someone like him? And apparently someone had the audacity to pass him over since he'd apparently tried out for Kamen Rider since Gaim??

And the writing in this special was superb. Where the hell was this during the back half of Revice? Or was Junya/Hiromi just that inspiring that Hanto Kinoshita was compelled to write something amazing for him (which was what happened to me)?

-I don't expect this thread to be resolved next episode, but I sure hope we see a major change at least.

Forgetting Family

Expo Voice Drama: Geed somehow encounters Belial, somehow revived. Belial surprises Geed by asking how he is, Geed asks why he turned to darkness, Belial believing only in power, mocking him before vanishing, only for Belial to now appear in Early Style. The words seem to be more encouraging, but they trigger the Belila Factor, but then he vanishes and is replaced by the Reiyonix Belial, who continues saying things, turning away telling him to make his own path. Geed awakens with a start, apparently dreaming, but is distracted from his thoughts on what it might mean by an Ultra Sign.

Decker: Masamichi Hotta is the head of TPU's Special Section 3, tasked with developing the vehicles for their forces, including GUTS-Select. While bemoaning how short staffed he is while being expected to meet deadlines, he comes across an old photo from 10 years ago, and fondly recalls his work with Marluru in bringing the vehicles Akito envisioned to life. He is surprised when Marluru enters the office, having been reassigned back to Special Section 3 to help with the workload, having been the only member of the old GUTS-Select team still on earth when the Spheres created the barrier. Hotta shows Marluru his newer work, the GUTS Hawk,though Marluru notes that as with the older vehicles, someone else designed it, though Hotta claims Asakage used some of his ideas. The Professor is now busy with the DG001 project. Conversation turns to the new Ultraman, Decker, and Marluru accidentally let's slip that Manaka Kengo was Trigger. As they start getting to work, Marluru enquires about Asumi from finance, who used to help them out a lot, learning she's overseeing them and stricter than ever.

Revice: Vice grabs Ikki to stop him changing, Kagero takes over for Daiji and grabs Sakura, making her help fight, but Juuga defeats them again, grabbing their drivers and trying to force Ikki to fight, but Kagero makes a distraction so they can escape. From the evidence he finds at the grave, Hiromi comes to a conclusion. Ikki, Vice, Daiji and Sakura argue over letting Ikki fight, as Hiromi has worked out George wants to defeat his father, resenting him for abandoning him and for implanting Chic on him, and Daiji and Sakura storm off, frustrated by Ikki, and Hiromi is informed of what is happening. He marches over to where Hikari is moving another box, asking for Masumi's effects, looking for a clue to stop George as Ikki and Vice help look, and spot a childhood photo of George and Masumi, the floor drain revealing that it was in the Ushijima house, and a mirror in that room is actually a door. Sakura and Daiji visit Hana and Tamaki, Sakura and Daiji want to stop Ikki being a busybody so he doesn't lose his memory, Tamaki pointing out he himself wouldn't be there if not for that behaviour, and Hana wouldn't either if Sakura wasn't the same. Ikki, Vice and Hiromi manage to enter the room, finding George's childhood bedroom totally preserved, and find their answer. They go back to Happy Spa, Genta and Yukimi greet them, trying to put up a brave face as Ikki objectively understands who they are but cannot remember anything about them, the two quickly go to a back room, reminding Ikki they always will love him. Ikki remembers Masumi's last words to them, and decides he has to give George his fight before they show George what they needed, Vice is shocked when an arriving Sakura and Daiji agree, having concluded it would be worse to try and stop Ikki being who he is than for him to forget them, Vice tries to get Genta and Yukimi to object but stops when he sees how devastated they are. Hiromi calls George, telling him where to meet Ikki to fight, and says he wants to have dinner with George later. Everyone gathers for the battle. George intends to prove the superiority of his Juuga System to Giffard Rex, and thus have revenge on his father, who abandoned him, and thanks to learning about him placing Chic in his body, now feels he was trying to control him, and that while of course his research was derived from Masumi's, learning about Chic he feels everything he has ever done has been controlled by Masumi. Ikki intends to prove the superiority of Giffard Rex, and that it is superior because Masumi and George created it together. Revi and Vice defeat Juuga, and Hiromi shows George the proof of his father's love for him. George rejects the childhood drawings, but Hiromi makes him actually look at them. They include ideas of summoning a T Rex, and Eagle, and others. The point being, that Masumi got his ideas from George. At this Gerige breaks down, admitting he wishes he had more time with his father, a grieving son of a father he had very complicated feelings for. George's feeling sorted, Daiji and Sakura congratulate Ikki, and recognising his confusion Sakura is already starting to tear up a little while trying to smile, as Ikki turns to Vice, and asks who his brother and sister are.

Donbrothers: Taro delivers a package to Higashi Tomoko, who convinces herself he is her son Koichiro. She starts doting on him at work even as he tells them she's not his mother. When he calls a meeting they think he wants to discuss the issues with Jiro or Murasame, but he has other concerns. Saruhara knows of her, and that her son left home suddenly, and has Taro pretend to be Koichiro to cheer her up, using a speaker to speak for him so Taro isn't lying. Taro is still uncomfortable, as they even got ahold of Koichiro's friends to try and hold up biographical details. She wants him to come the next day and play Chopin. Taro has never played piano, but Kaito can, and takes them to a back room in Donbura to demonstrate, so Taro gets the idea. Inuzaka saves a boy from a Hitotsu-ki. Before playing, Tomoko gets "Koichiro" a suit, but she finds his sudden haiku odd, which starts getting Saruhara riled up into quitting, forcing Kijino to take over, as they eat she admits he probably left due to her always pressuring him into piano. Kijino goes off script by claiming to be married and then quits when she badmouths Miho, and Haruka rushes over to be Miho, but with no one to speak for him Taro dies trying to lie, as the Hitotsu-ki rampages again. When it approaches Taro Tomoko hits it with her handbag, thr Donbrothers fight Torabolt pushing them aside to fight before Dragoku takes over and Saru Robotaro throws him away, they defeat the Hitotsu-ki, and Dratorajin defeats the Hitotsu King. Tomoko watches the host walk away. Taro goes to Tomoko to apologise, but she appreciates the attempt to help her, and does one thing for her as a son. He goes to play Chopin in private, sad he never got the chance to play for her, as the Hitotsu-ki host returns to his mother, wanting to play piano again.

Futo PI: W fights Road, Tokime having a sense of having heard of Kamen Rider before, Road vanishes and tries to grab Tokime, only to have actually grabbed LunaJoker's arm, and decides to escape into the Shadow Futo, W chases, using LunaTrigger to hit him from behind, before delivering a Joker Extreme when they catch up, destroying the Road Memory. Phillip wakes up as Shotaro returns to the scene, making up as the police make arrests. Akiko is prepared to declare case closed, but Shotaro has one more person to count the sins of looking towards Tokime. At the office he presents to Tsudobaki the true reason he wanted the bag back so much, the Toadstool Memory. Shotaro has investigated and learnt two years prior Chuta had visited Futo, and probably then been offered the Memory by a dealer, saving up after to move there and buy the Memory he was now addicted to, by coincidence Tokime almost immediately stole the bag he hid it in. Her magic thefts are actually hidden strings, and her seeming floating and vanishing into walls the product of the Shadow Futo not being totally aligned with the real one, standing on the Shadow Futo buildings. Chuta made a deal with Tachikawa to get him the bag back. He rushes for the memory, but Shotaro grabs his arm before he can use it. Shotaro asks him to atone and return as a good citizen of Futo, as Jinno and Makura arrest him. Tokime has to go with them too, she has been stealing a lot after all, but Shotaro is aware she'd acted to save at least some people from Road, she teases him and kisses him before getting in the car. Subsequently, W HeatMetal uses Metal Branding on the HardTurbuler to defeat another Dopant, only for Shotaro to be shocked when Tokime appears, Phillip already aware Akiko has take her on as Shotaro's assistant, with help from Ryu to persuade the authorities, in the hopes of solving who she is and identifying her Memory. Tokime decides she's going to live in Shotaro's barely used apartment, he's too dense to appreciate her teasing for a while, and when he does he instead moves into the agency backroom. Phillip points out to Akiko that Tokime was probably involved in some Memory crime, and that Shotaro has demonstrated he has a type, the so-called Femme Fatale, it has never gone well for him, and he might be trying to avoid closeness now because he's aware of it. There is also the question of what drove Road to create so much h3 had to resort to cannibalism, and they don't know if the Shadow Futo is gone. And indeed, in that city, a man uses a Gaia Driver and the Aurora Memory to transform, and cannot sense Tokime in their city.

I'm sorry, Kamen Rider WHAT

I've heard that Evilytylive wasn't initially planned, and I guess that explains why this form is more of a mashup of Holy Live and Evil instead of being more like Giffard Rex. It makes me wonder just how much or when that changed, because "you should accept your devils" has...kind of been a big deal and keeping Kagero dead flies in the face of that.

I love Revice, don't get me wrong, but let's just say that its strengths lie in the characters instead of the plot
