So, what is an intrusive crossover?

(In response to this post)

The thing is I had a post about this way, way back, like... probably somewhere in the 2014-2016 era? My Marvel-and-Naruto period.

But I cannot find it.

Anyway.

I divide crossovers into categories or types, and here the most basic ones.

Intrusive: A character from one setting ends up in another, completely unrelated setting. They do not share a universe, do not share a planet, nada. This is 'falls through a portal' type of crossover. EXAMPLE: A Witch's Favor, where Wanda Maximoff and Maria Rambeau (Marvel) end up in the Star Wars universe due to an unexplained spell malfunction.

Shared Verse: The settings could theoretically, in some manner, exist in the same universe without ever intersecting. EXAMPLE: I usually use Naruto for this example, e.g. the Hidden Continent exists in the Pacific but has had minimal influence/interaction with the rest of the setting up to this point because it's magically cut off from the rest of the planet. For Star Wars, this is usually pretty easy by just putting whatever the second canon is as just. A planet in Wild Space. They exist in the same universe! They just haven't found each other yet! A great example is the fic A Star to Steer By, by @norcumii and @dogmatix. A subset of this is fics where one is the distant past of the other, like Muse on This or Red-Eyed Black Widow.

Mixed Verse: The setting is one that involves both canons influencing each other to a degree, or being in the same verse without being a fusion AU or shared-verse. The settings exist together, both having strong worldbuilding elements of the original, but are not fully themselves and show obvious elements of the other. EXAMPLE: Unfortunately my most recent example is an HP crossover so. Please keep in mind that this is from four years ago, before R*wling outed herself as a massive bigot: Professor Storm.

Fusion: more or less 1:1 "this character from fandom 1 would be this character from fandom 2" or otherwise "characters from fandom 1 reimagined in fandom 2 with none of the original setting." For a long time, HP was the biggest and most constant example, but uhhh that's clearly been falling out of favor like raw eggs. EXAMPLE: After Me Comes the Flood.

There are other types, like infusing the plot of one narrative into the setting and characters of the other, which is a really fun kind of fusion (I always come back to thinking about Age of Marvels by justplainrii, which only ever got three chapters but still eats at my brain sometimes), buuuuut I'd say most crossovers are some variant of the above four.

Pretty much everyone and their mother figured out it was Rinne who gave it to him... except, of course, Houtaro himself. Because while Houtaro may be pure of heart, he is also dumb of ass

Or maybe Houtaro's just in denial...Only Hopper-1 knows, but he gets stuffed into the bag when he tries to tell anyone

None of the characters in geats (or the current gotchard) appealed to me like revice did (donbrothers finale also didnt do it for me)... after revice ended, my old fandom released a new movie...so welp, i took it as a time to say goodbye to my toku phase.

Geats OT4, Win and aTsumuri get sucked into their own DND game, and become their Characters.

Ace is definitely multiclassing. Probably a gunslinger-warlock or something. Is it even feasible in real dnd? Fuck knows. He is making it work. Professional problem.

Keiwa is just a paladin who'd prefer if they'd all stay on the road to getting back to real life ASAP.

Neon and Win are both bards. Neon is probably a half-elf, while Win is idk, something else. Tiefling, maybe. Both of them are very well-adjusted. Neon definitely hits enemies in the head with her instruments.

Michinaga is a barbarian and he has One Tactic and One Tactic only which is Hit It Until It Stops Moving. Also probably a halfling. Ace tricked him into making a halfling because he confused it with tieflings. Therefore he is Tiny and full of Rage.

I have no idea about Tsumuri. She didn't even want to be part of any of this. Maybe an elf cleric who is the meanest healer they ever have in battle. If they are stupid, they don't get healed.

I think sarah jane is a perfect example of a of companion who is comfortably in love with the doctor and completely satisfied in knowing that their relationship will never move into the romantic/sexual area because they’re secure in their knowledge that the doctor loves, trusts, and cares about them (which is why it hurts so much when he leaves her behind, it’s like breaking this unspoken understanding)

I don’t think that the third and fourth doctors were interested in sarah romantically (three just bc he happened not to be and four bc I hc him as aro) but tens regeneration falls in love all over the place, especially with people he feels admiration for, and all that love and affection he’d felt towards her as three/four translated into head over heals star-struck omg wow :,0 <333

If we're talking about Daybreak Houtaro....

I headcanon that he's wearing the same type of Uniform as Sabimaru, the Red One.

He also has Longer hair, all fluffy and reaching to his Neck, and he wears a replica of His Goggles(the ones that became the GotchaIgniter) on his Head.

I guess?

Though we'd be saying that Daybreak Houtaro was still a student at that point, since the red costume Sabimaru wears is still a student uniform. Of course, that also means we're assuming he's part of the Alchemist Academy at all (and that it still exists at that point).

I have to say it's unlikely because if Geryon had succeeded in wiping out most of the world and the Chemmies, then I can't see the Academy existing if not to serve Geryon- we know in even in Main!Houtaro's timeline they've already fallen to his side. I can't see Houtaro wearing something that symbolizes the organization who may have been complicit in a lot of death and destruction, brainwashing or no.

Everything else, I'm on board, except the goggles bit has a different take. We know he found a pair of goggles like the one that became the Gotchaigniter in some rubble at some point before he jumped into the past.

The implication, though, is that 1) it never became the Gotchaigniter and 2) given how shaken Fire Gotchard!Houtaro seems to be at finding it, it may have been his father's actual goggles- the ones he never supposedly even let Houtaro borrow. So if he indeed wears it, it's more of a tragic keepsake than anything else.
