I miss Gotham Knights already.

(Even though I'm just now settling in to watch the finale.)

I knew from the very start that it was the longest of longshots that GK would survive. Absolutely everything seemed lined up against it. The CW restructuring. The Warner Bros restructuring. The DCEU restructuring under James Gunn. The DC gatekeeping incels who didn't want a Batverse show without Batman even to exist (and many of whom, frankly, didn't want a Batverse show with LGBT people existing in it.) Even the release of a video game a few months before with the same title but completely different cast and storyline. And that was all BEFORE the writers' strike. My expectations were managed.

But I didn't expect the show to be good.

I thought Misha would give an amazing performance as Harvey/Two-Face and I could fast-forward the other 38 minutes of each episode.

But not only was Harvey incredible, the younger cast was good and steadily got better. The characters were engaging and interesting and the heists were fun. The group dynamics were great--not just as a team or with the Sharper developing romance, but there were so many interesting relationships and combinations: Turner and Carrie, the Row siblings, Duela and Carrie, Cullen and Carrie, Cullen and Steph, Harvey and Turner, Harvey and Rebecca...The show looked great, from the sets and costumes to the stunts and CGI. The dialogue was snappy. Most important, the creators seemed more interested in satisfying viewers rather than shocking them with off-the-wall, shocking twists. (I think most of us were hoping that Duela would be Harvey's daughter based on their comics characters, so the reveal wasn't unexpected but the way it happened was.)

It was just a very enjoyable hour of TV, and every ep was better than the last.

And I'm so sad to be saying goodbye to these characters when so much more has been set up with them. We're not going to see Two-Face's reign of terror (and how Harvey deals with that); we're not going to see Harvey and Duela as parent and child (apparently, in 40 years of comics there has not been ONE single Harvey/Duela arc); we're not going to see Harper and Steph as Bluebird and Spoiler, or whether Cullen will get a superhero identity (I don't think he has one in the comics), or Carrie coming into her own (and dealing with her mom), or Cluemaster, or original characters Turner and Brody finding a place in the Batverse.

I hope that when the WGA strike is over there's a chance at least for a wrap-up movie (Sense8 and Timeless each got one)

Transfers:

None. Gonna sit tight and roll out the WC team with bench boost active. Will let me have 2 frees for 38 and have fun to double swap in some punty friends.

BENCH BOOST ACTIVE

GKs: Jaku and Cech go for me. Hopefully Jaku saves 2 pens and they lose 1-0 to Palace. Cech fucking stud for me in the first DGW and looks likely to get at least one more clean in this double where fixtures are even better. Things looking good between the sticks.

DEF: Alonso little but nervous about starting both, but, a clean at WBA and he'll already have a tidy return on the gameweek so we'll see. Hopefully he just plays both, but certainly not worth a speculative transfer out at this point. Stephens and Yoshida hopefully play both games, I'm expecting they won't, but who knows. Holgate is my other single gameweeker who starts for me on BB and hopefully they just fuck Watford at home and he gets me some shit. Finally, my actual favorite punt on WC short human Kone gets the nod. I don't think a goal and/or a clean is out of the question for them so let's see.

MID: I got my nice City duo Sane and Kev with these two home bankers that looks prime for goals galore. Leicester apparently ravaged at the back suddenly with Huth a doubt, Morgan still dead, and Drinky out too. Feels good to have triple City attack this double for sure. Hazard fresh off his blank makes me feel like he will blank his life away now that I got him back in my side as he has done all season. Points off the team, no points when I get him in. He's been my most frustrating player this season by far. We'll see. Again same thoughts on him as Alonso just hoping he plays both, but, surely not worth a transfer out at this stage. Eriksen looks fine as usual and all I really want is for him to outscore Alli. Finally, Praying Mantis bug eyed fuck gets rolled out again. Thank fuck he got that assist but goddamn him getting his first yellow card in the League all season the one week I have him capped. Those are the things I never forget. Just like 9/11. Never forget.

FWD: VIC headlines a packed frontline for me and any Sunderland goal that pops up on my updates will have my heart racing with the thoughts and feels that are attached to FPL dongs. Kane sits up top, fine today. And finally Gab Jesus H gets run out again. Hopefully Aguero is still dead forever.

CAP: Going with the young boy Gab Jeez as shouted on the pod. I really did think about Kane on and off this week but in the end the City fixtures are too hard for me to see past. I think they can score 8 goals on the DGW whereas I think Spurs have a ceiling of about 4 in their double. Kev just doesn't shoot enough for me to go for him and so I'll stick with Jesus for cap as I think he has the explosive qualities that could see a massive DGW.

This needs a name. It’s basically just a third wildcard? Yolo Wildcard. But it needs some sort of specific name especially if it comes off as it did for me last season.

I had to wait until this morning for pressers because I didn’t want to get fucked by some late news so the only change I made this morning is I kept Bailly because Mourinho specifically said that he has to play in the remaining league games, and instead I swapped out de Gea. I’ll get into the players that I chose more below.

BENCH BOOST ACTIVE

GKs: Cech and Pickford in for me, two doubles feels great. Walsh was spot on with Cech and his saves and extra points that traditionally other top and most expensive keepers don’t get. After GW36 I’m sure the Cech and Arsenal defender bandwagon is at an all-time high so I felt very exposed going without any. Cech feels great for three great fixtures remaining. Pickford is a good lad and hopefully can build off of last week’s 9 pointer and get a ton of saves and maybe one clean. That’d be ideal.

DEF: Stephens, Alonso, and Bailly are the three defenders to retain their spots in my side while newcomers Azpil and Mustafi round it out. Stephens not much to be said as we’ve been going on about him on the pod for a few episodes going now he’s just the cheapest and most nailed doubling defender in the game right now. Alonso is god almighty. Hopefully when Chelsea win the title Alonso starts the second game as well but who knows what Conte will do? Bailly was 100% out for me until I saw this morning Mou said verbatim, "He has to play the remaining matches in the Premier League & give rest to some of the others," so who the fuck am I to get rid? He’s nailed and their defense is great and they’re going to park the bus because United suck and Mou is a cocksucker. Bailly seems like a still great pick. Azpil in. I wanted to get Terry - I’ll get him for GW38 for sure - but as for other Chelsea assets that feel they can get in there and start two games I think that Azpil is the second most likely behind Alonso because of his specialty role and his versatility. I wanted to go differential and double Chelsea defense since most people don’t have the $ to get there and their fixtures are incredible. And lastly Mustafi similar concept. I knew I’d be getting rid of Alexis my only ARSE attacker so I wanted to kind of go the other route and double (I toyed with even tripling) on Arsenal defense since that’s probably a differential and most people aren’t there. Mustafi was great in GW36 and picked up some BAPs, I also think he’s due for a fucking goal he wins a lot of corners. He should be nailed in the side especially in a back three to play the season out.

MID: I kept the single gameweeking Josh King because he’s been the man of the moment for the second half of the season and not much else to be said on him. Romeu is whatever 5th mid I expect between four and six points which is his norm which is honestly fine from The Mummy. Sane and Sterling are nice tits hopefully both will start some essential games for city down the stretch here where as Walsh said they could score a billion fucking goals. Maxing out on City assets felt like the best route to go. And lastly Mahrez I almost felt obligated to bring in? He was my pod shout and bad things usually happen when we don’t listen to ourselves on the pod. So I’m not gonna be dumb and and bad and just roll with. No Arse attacker and no Spurs mid feels quite risky but my rank sucks and I’m on Yolo Wildcard so fuck it.

FWD: Kane, Vardy, Jesus. Probably the pick of the litter from doubling forwards. Seems like all three are nailed for both (though Aguero back in training ugh) and all three are in form and yeah there’s not a whole lot to be said. They’re good. I’m excited by these three.

CAP: Going differential with Leroy Sane. How could I not go differential look at my dumb fucking team it’s insane dude. Aguero back in training I’m thinking there’s a decent chance Jesus starts one and Kun another and Sane is one of their most important players who I do not think Pep can afford to drop or rest. He rested him two weeks ago then had to bring him on and he changed the game drastically. Also do not sleep on the clean sheet points / extra midfielder points for a goal etc etc.. That shit adds up especially in a DGW fiesta. Let’s go.
