Wake up babes new Griffin headcanon dropped. Imo, the reson he opened fire on his teammates was because he despised them (and himself) for the murders they were committing in vietnam/iraq and banana fish pushed him over the edge enough

AGAIN elaborating on the whole banana-fish-Abraham-griffin mess…
His drug thing was out, higher ups knew about it, dino knew about it, he’d presumably made profit off of it, I can’t think of any reason as to why Abraham wanted to kill griffin there and then.
From a doyist perspective maybe the writers just didn’t know what to do with griffin but to kill him to tie up loose ends… but on a watsonian perspective… Abraham killed griffin because he was freaked out just looking at him. “Griffin was a nice guy but he suspected what I was doing so…” he cuts off, he fusses with his hands, he looks down, the first thing he saw in ash was a teen griffin. The guy feels guilt. He’s nuts enough to think lobotomising his teenage bullies in a war is justifiable but he feels guilt over griffin because he was a “nice guy”. Maybe it’s all subconscious but he knows he’s done fucked up.
Griffin wakes up at Abraham’s voice. After years, after not responding to his brother, it’s Abraham that makes him wake up. He’s lived trapped in the terror Abraham forced onto him and they both know this. I’m willing to bet that griffin was delirious on waking up, maybe he thought he was still there, where Abraham had given him banana fish and wrecked his life?
“When you see a banana fish at sea you feel like dying” Griffin killed his teammates and lived with that guilt in his coma. Abraham feels guilt over griffin, which is why he killed him to get rid of it.
I’ve heard people talking about guilt being a driving factor in bf: Max, Ash, Eiji, Sing, but I haven’t heard people talking about how it’s subverted in abraham.

Griffins traditionally protect treasures from evil, witchcraft and slander and in Christian mythology are regarded as symbols of both the divine and of humans.

Having very very shitty Griffin Callenreese thoughts again. His name is going to utterly dissappear. Literally nobody knows him. Nobody could think of him, even Max as he tries will mourn for a man he scarcely knew for longer than he knew him. Literally just tried to support his brother in his shitty family with an abusive father, got turned into a lab rat and got brutally murdered by a man who he was kind to. Out of all people Abraham could have viciously hurt like that he chose Griff, who meant no harm, who was "the only one who didn't bully him" Griffin was never cruel to anyone and this is the lot he gets.

Nonono but I am fucking losing my mind over Abraham first seeing Griffin when he looks at Ash, after ten years still everyone in Banana Fish is haunted by the metaphorical ghost of this gentle boy who harm was done to.
