Happy Indigenous peoples day. As an American I live on stolen land. Land that once belonged to indigenous people. The Maruvians are based off of different groups of Indigenous Americans from South and Central America. So I made an Maruvian edit to honor this day. May the memories of all the indigenous peoples killed by Europe settlers or USA/Canadian governments by honored and never forgotten.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day to all my fellow Indigenous peoples! I am proud to be Native. I am proud to stand tall even when those around us constantly tell us we shouldn't, constantly try to kill us. We are beautiful and strong.
My personal relationship with my history and my ancestors is complicated. My father was taken from his birth family and put up for adoption, only to be adopted by a white family. As a child, he didn't know what he was missing. How could he? He was lied to and told he was Mexican, not Native. His white family was complicated; his adoptive mother a good woman who cherished him but was sick (her heart was deformed). She died when he was 12 and a new woman entered the home - one who violently physically abused him. It wasn't until he was an adult, feeling like he no longer had a home anywhere that he was able to investigate his past. When he met my mother, she encouraged it, helping him uncover secrets of his past.
I, too, felt that loss of a connection as a kid. I know that many other mixed kids have a complicated relationship with their ethnic history. There was a time when I felt lost and that I didn't deserve to connect with my family history. It wasn't until high school that I wanted to find out for myself, pick up where my dad had. He felt abandoned by his ancestors in a way I didn't.
I found his original family and through them I traced my lineage back and found my ancestors. I found the tribe I came from. That moment of looking at photos that looked like my father will always be a cherished memory. I saw myself in those images. I saw my eyes and my nose and my cheekbones. I saw the thick hair and the life that I hold now. I finally felt like I belonged.
I am proud to say that I am Indigenous. I will always be proud of that. I will hold on to my connection with the land and my people with an iron grasp. Even as this world changes, I will connect with it and fight for it to my last breath. My love goes out to my brothers and sisters and two spirits from all over the world. Happy Indigenous Peoples Day💕

HAPPY INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY!
Here's some things to remember in honor of this day and in honor of Native/Indigenous people everywhere:
Indigenous tribes each have their own unique and rich cultures and you absolutely can learn more about them and appreciate them WITHOUT appropriating them or stereotyping them
Please do not talk about Indigenous tribes and people as if they are a long dead group, they are very much alive still DESPITE all the efforts to whitewash and kill them throughout history
We absolutely should spend more time talking about the persecution of indigenous people in history class and we need to recognize that it is still a problem
Please DO NOT USE WHITE SAGE. It is sacred to many tribes and should be reserved for them (there's more to this issue than that but I don't know all the details)
Indigenous people aren't restricted to being American. They're all over the world!
Please do not call Indigenous people the S word or the R word as those are very offensive terms with a lot of negative historical connotations around them
Indigenous people also face racism, and when we talk about racial issues they ABSOLUTELY should be included.
Do NOT forget about the boarding schools that were set up here in america or the dehumanizing slogans used by such schools.
Do NOT forget about the missing and murdered indigenous women!! Many of them never get justice and the issue is going under the radar quite a bit
If any Indigenous people would like to add on, you are ABSOLUTELY WELCOME to do so!
*I AM NOT INDIGENOUS/NATIVE SO IF I GOT ANY OF THIS WRONG I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT IF PEOPLE WHO ARE NATIVE/INDIGENOUS CORRECTED ME. THANK YOU :)
(edit: Changed terminology because i found out that “native” has negative connotations in some places so I removed the word.)

privilege is not a stair case it’s your social location like a grid map based on your marginalizations & privileges. being a white man has so many privileges but if you were jewish you were murdered while Hitler was in command. a white man committed genocide on white men & got a lot of attention because they were white. if that was brown or black peoples white men would cover it up or try to white wash it per every year we colonized over here.
HAPPY INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY.
