originally i was just playing with a different body type but apparently i really needed to paint something? anyway heres this green little dear. under the cut is a close up of the head and a version without all the extra layers

was revisiting sextupods

some internat workings stuff under the cut (bare bones anatomical outline for the skeleton and guts placement)

#these things still tend to confuse my brain as much as i love the idea of them #so i went in and redid them a bit to better fit my tastes and try and mak more sense of it #especially in terms of stuff like skeleton and muscular structure. i knew they needed to have room for strong back and chest muscles #and still wasnt sure what their ribcage looked like #so i went and took a look at otters ferrets kangaroos and just tried to apply that logic here #(ferrets for ribcage and spine) #(otters for backlegs mostly) #(and then kangaroos had the shoulders and chest muscles i needed to take a look at #mind you i know very very little about muscles so to anyone who does hopefully it makes any ammount of sense lol im kinda wingin it #art #oc #idk what i tagged these as #speculative biology #original species #Galileo #Adelaide #the first bit up there was from yesterday btw the second canvas is from today where i tried to be a little more accurate to the skeleton #hopefully i succeeded idk #hextupod #spec bio

some basic stuff for gal's wardrobe. i tend to think that because of how the legs move three piece clothing is the easiest and most comfortable to put on and otherwise move in. i think the hardest part is figuring out what she would have style wise and what shed be able to get tailored vs what shed have scrounged. other than hoodies and tshirts pretty much everything has to be tailored, unfortunatly.

#i feel like half her wardrobe is stuff she likes to wear out bc its her style (more comfort or grunge focused shit) #and then at least a good 3rd is experimental shit she or one of her friends made for her to see if it would work #and then the last bit is just for specific occassions #i figure with hextupods the concept of ''nudity'' is very individual based. gal feels pretty ok w/o clothes all together if shes #with other sextupods and sometimes the turtles but especially around humans and such for example she might start feeling kinda naked #otherwise its more so if shes like only wearing shoes is weird those should be worn with clothes #or like ONLY a middle peice then shes like i wanna at least cover my butt #etc #its situational #adelaid on the other hand only wears clothes if its for practicality like if its cold or she needs shoes for certain terrain #i think other than like. slippers or some socks shes only got the three pairs of shoes i drew here but she deffinetly have some more #shirts n shit #so yk #hextupod #oc #art #doodles #Galileo #spec bio

finally got a colored drawing of gal

hextupods' skin is a sort of in between of skin and scales, im not sure yet how to describe it but in my concept notes i had it so they feel like snakes but if their scales were feathers. idk how it works either. anyway, the point is that their skin is rather reflective, this is for camouflage purposes- they will turn the color of the light around them. usually this is so in the water they will be nearly invisible because they'll match the blue of it so well.

hextupods do tend to have a hue of their own they tend to look most like when they arent overly influenced by external lights and colors- galileo's is usually pinkish purple, adelaide tends to be bluer, etc.

ofc there are various mutations that inhibit or enhance this ability- the usual like albinism, melanism, piebaldism, etc can effect how well their skin can reflect other colors but im sure there are also hextupod specific conditions that can make them even more reflective.

Getting down some ideas for chairs and such. I figure that if you have to do something easy and space saving like barstools and such, a simple stool with a cushion works fine to rest the middle set of legs. You could also add a back rest, something that you could rest against but still move out of the way, which would give you something more useful for longer ish term use like desk or dining room chairs. The problem with that is that leaning back against the spine isn't advisable- could end in stiffness and mild back pain. It'd take up more space, but another tier for the front most legs can give support the top part of the spine without strain. I can imagine a longer version to get the entire body up could be like those super fancy gaming chairs that lean all the way back, or maybe a particularly nice couch.

#figuring out how these move without being able to effectively lean backwards like something with their spine ending at their legs is fun #i can imagine don manufacturing costum furniture for around the lair and his lab #art #doodles #its weird that im posting more traditional work latley but oh well lol #Galileo #spec bio #speculative biology #hextupod

tryna figure out these beast's faces

generally sextupods dont have a whole ton of bite force, but their teeth are hard enough to cause plenty of blunt damage to small enough skulls.

Adelaide beloved

Adelaide is what other sextupods would call a sire, stud or bull. it basically means that she is a loner who isnt one to stay in a herd. seeing as there are lots of sextupods who will parent litters as a herd they will sometimes partner with bulls to chance larger litters, which just means that the bull would sire eggs and then leave after the 4 month gestational period for the herd to raise them. she found Galileo as an egg without parents and took her in to raise her as her own. they were separated when gal was around 8, and by the time theyve found each other again gal has already made a herd of her own with the turtles. she is very anxious to get her mother's approval.

sextupod's pupils will reflect light in a way that makes them look like their pupil is white, but its just shine. when they feel anxious or threatened their pupils shrink in a way that makes the normal shine turn into a ring.
