so hobie is good at guitar and decent at drums right it's in his profile but he's godawful at singing (probably on purpose).

i simply like to believe that at one point in his band he played every instrument but never did vocals, so one day his bandmates were like "why don't you try singing since you're so good at everything" and that's how we know he's bad at singing

being leftist and punk fundamentally exists because of love and compassion.

anarchists hate governments because of their needless cruelty. because people deserve to live without owing anything for the food they eat or the water they drink.

communists hate capitalism because of the way it extracts the most labor from the poorest in our society and they get repaid with their labor being categorically under appreciated and labeled 'unskilled.' because labor shouldn't destroy a person. labor should exist as a way to express love to your community.

punks hate governments and capitalism and societal expectations of what they should dress like, act like, listen to, and create because living your life without autonomy and community like those in power want you to is isolating and degrading.

if hobie brown was your first introduction to leftism and punk culture that didn't scare you or that you could relate to that's great! but i implore you to challenge your mindset about these kinds of people irl. remind yourself if you agree with any of these points the intimidating exterior isn't meant to scare you away and try to engage with punk with the same enthusiasm that you engage with hobie media.

hobie's symbiote

most spider-man variants only bond with their symbiote temporarily before the vaguely hormonal anger takes them over (see: spider-man 2007) but hobie never really physically bonded with his. despite that he easily forms an emotional bond with the symbiote without compromising his personality. hobie doesn't resent the symbiote and actually finds common ground which is why it takes the form of a dog and becomes spider-mutt.

i feel like there's a disconnect somewhere with comic readers. but in spider-punk (2022) hobie calls himself spider-punk, likes the name and has fun making spider-related puns (he did it to such an extent that it annoyed the shit out of karl and riri). he claimed spider-man in the beginning in tasm (2014) but also so did most of the variants in the early spider-verse.

tldr: canonically hobie doesn't actually hate being called/calling himself spider-punk
