Not pictured:
My 90 minute escapade to transform this beautiful bastard.
Skywarp's pompous strafe attack on a lone Autobot medic.
Said medic running for cover, finding none, then being impaled right between the lock shafts and taken ten thousand feet over Mount Saint Hillary.
First Aid makes his ten thousand foot descent without aileron affirmations.
Suddenly: 'I gotta roll for it!"
Quick waist180 into a Datsun Vanette C120. Four thousand feet until kissing dirt. Skywarp arcs around for another passing strike.
First Aid bounces hard, his four Goodyears doing their damnedest to protect him. Good thing they're actual rubber.
Medic asteroid now becomes medic surface-to-air projectile. Skywarp can't bank quickly enough. The collision is absolutely brutal. You had to be there.
First Aid wakes up feeling like Ratchet all the time: half-dead and grumpy. It doesn't suit him, but neither does a fellow Cybertronian damaged beyond transformation, in need of rapid response. He's got a job to do.

Yes, I'm quietly playing with Skywarp in the hotel bathroom while @foxxiwaves sleeps. What an awesome gift from them. This has me considering more toy photography when we get back home, but also using masterpiece figures as art references.
For those who are curious, Skywarp is my favorite (more evil-oriented) Decepticon, while Breakdown is my favorite Decepticon overall. Excited to have the two interacting with each other on my studio desk.

It's going to take me a while to fully process how amazing this TFCon was for me-- especially with it ending on Peter and Frank's heartfelt discussion about their time together working for Transformers. What a special experience. I'd like to write more about my weekend in a future post.
To those of you who I met in person, it was great to meet you! I'm looking forward to TFCon in Baltimore later this year (which is in my backyard) to do this all over again, and I'll enjoy keeping up with the excitement here as we approach the date.

I feel so honored to have met Mr. Renaday, the voice of Grapple. He was very kind and appreciative of everyone at the con!

Gearing up for TFCon Baltimore! Can you guess who I'll be dressing as...?
This art will make its way onto a new jacket, but I haven't decided how I'm going to do that. The hand painted style would be most fitting, but I'm also tempted to produce this as a vinyl graphic to heat press onto the jacket. I feel a potential to sell art prints and garments of my designs, so I may be trying a few options with this one.

Can you believe TFCon LA is less than 3 weeks away??
My Dad offered to help me paint the jacket design and I'm happy to take him up on it. Here's the sketch laid out with color blocking-- I'm so excited to see the finished product.

The outfit is really coming together now!
We're opting for airport-friendly costumes to dress for TFCon LA, which means I don't have to scratch build a helmet just yet. Baltimore's TFCon in November is less than an hour's drive from our house, so we can bring anything we're willing to carry that day.
I'm really pleased with these shades I found at Walmart. They're a pretty perfect match to Hoist's visor. And I think the duct tape does the trick.
All that's left for March 8th is some yellow knee pads, knitted green gloves that K is almost finished, and the jacket artwork.
I can't wait! Hope to meet and hang with you Transformers fans!

My pants! They arrived! They're just what I wanted!
After a trial run of much of the outfit, we've learned a few things. The Dickies style just works great with the gators and boots. Proper workwear kneepads would look perfect. I'll still go with reflective tape in large bands across my legs. A longer mechanic's apron in Kelly green would be nice and not too difficult to sew. And Hoist's actual head will look so much less goofy.
What do you think?

While I slowly assemble this outfit over the next few months, I can figure out my back logo for Hoist's work jacket. My goal for this is something I wouldn't mind wearing in public casually, but also something special for TFCon.
I brought up my photo of my X-Transbots Paean into Photoshop and enlarged to the actual size I want the logo to be, then traced it right off the monitor. Now on paper, I think I'll paint Hoist's alt mode in acrylics. Then I'll scan it to preserve the standalone truck as a print, then go back and finish the logo in acrylics. The perks of working at a printing studio-- I know exactly how large the logo can be.
The jacket I'm looking at is a Red Kap "Ike" style jacket modeled after the popular look in WWII. As Hoist is a combat medic of the Cybertronian War, I think the wartime clothing and details I'm pulling in would be fitting.
I found Dickies orange work pants that should be perfect. Those are arriving this week-- and minus the jacket and helmet, I'll have a 1st draft costume ready soon!

I'm planning to attend TFCon 2024 in LA! This will be my first convention, and I'm so excited for it to fall on the 40th anniversary of Transformers.
Who better to dress as than my favorite underrepresented Autobot? The good news is I have 75% of this outfit already-- fabricating the helmet and coat graphics might be difficult.
If you're also going to TFCon on March 10th or if you have any tips for cosplay, please let me know! Looking forward to meeting more Transformers fans in person.

After picking up really cool treats for myself at TFCon I knew I wanted to properly display my Transformers collection. They have now usurped Star Wars and DC real estate on my shelves. I'm really glad to have everything visible again.
What's most dangerous is that I have more room for Masterpiece figures!

I'm not happy with the font yet, but it feels great to see the whole graphic now. X-Transbots Paean has been a great model.
Once I've finalized the text, I'll copy the sketch to save it, then prototype the colors in pencil.
