Decals, how do I do them? Well using this commission from a few years back to explain, there's a few simple steps I take... First, I create the decals I need on the laptop, cropping images and using shapes to make up the things I can't locate, sometimes some proper detective work is needed.. Next I print them onto either white backed decal paper or transparent, depending on the colour backing that the decals going onto... Then I have to seal them with 3 coats of matt clear varnish, these are 15 minutes apart... Then it's time to cut them out and then soak in water for a couple of seconds before applying... The Work I love to do: To many of you that have followed me for some time, you'll know my main focus is making miniatures of places and capturing them in time in order to preserve memories but for any new followers to which I welcome you, I stretch into capturing moments in Motorsport, mainly Rally to date. This a selection of some of the pieces I have been commissioned to make so far and it's safe to say I absolutely love doing these pieces. I use photo references of a real moment and recreate it in 3D. I currently have a wide selection of rally cars waiting to be captured in a moment and you could own that moment too. If there is a car that you love or you know someone that would love an epic scene as a gift, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to recreate it for you... I find it crazy when I realise these things but it's been ONE WHOLE YEAR since I completed this awesome commission a loyal client asked me to do - it was of his father's Peugeot 205 GTI Rally Car which he drove in the 1998 Caerwent Rally and it needed to be in 1/24th scale, not to mention for his birthday too! The pressure was on!! So if you skip back through my posts you'll see the process but basically I converted a standard off the shelf Peugeot 205 into a rally spec 205 GTI... Finished Commission Work - 1/24 Peugeot 205 GTI Rally Car - 1998 Caerwent Rally: From start to finish an absolute joy to do - however it had its challenges in many ways! Capturing motion is something I'm quite obsessed with doing and in 1/24 scale it's been very enjoyable! The grass technique is something I learnt much from and so I will utilise that teddy bear fur again I'm sure! NEW COMMISSION WORK - 1/24 Peugeot 205 GTI Rally Car - 1998 Caerwent Rally: Absolutely stoked to get on with this commission. I've been asked to recreate the top photo of this little 205 GTI sliding side ways through a tight corner... As a rally fan I simply couldn't resist it and in 1/24 scale that gives me scope to do some detailing on the inside (roll cage pending 😁) I've got hold of a Peugeot 205 GTI and I've stripped it of all its parts down to the bare body ready for its conversion... I've already spent some time and extra care to recreate the unique decals that the car carried through this rally.
