Online Schools Are Here to Stay, Even After the Pandemic (NYT) Rory Levin, a sixth grader in Bloomington, Minnesota, used to hate going to school. He has a health condition that often makes him feel apprehensive around other students. Taking special-education classes did little to ease his anxiety. So when his district created a stand-alone digital-only program, Bloomington Online School, last year for the pandemic, Rory opted to try it. Now the 11-year-old is enjoying school for the first time, said his mother, Lisa Levin. He loves the live video classes and has made friends with other online students, she said. A year after the coronavirus set off a seismic disruption in public education, some of the remote programs that districts intended to be temporary are poised to outlast the pandemic. Even as students flock back to classrooms, a subset of families who have come to prefer online learning are pushing to keep it going—and school systems are rushing to accommodate them. At least several hundred of the nation’s 13,000 school districts have established virtual schools this academic year, with an eye to operating them for years to come, education researchers said. Unlike many makeshift pandemic school programs, these stand-alone virtual schools have their own teachers, who work only with remote students and use curricula designed for online learning.

U.S. Signals Support for Ukraine and Will Add Troops in Germany (NYT) The United States and NATO, anxious about a major Russian troop buildup on Ukraine’s border, signaled strong support for the Kyiv government on Tuesday. And in what was considered another message to Moscow, Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III said on Tuesday that the United States would increase its military presence in Germany by about 500 personnel and that it was scuttling plans introduced under President Donald J. Trump for a large troop reduction in Europe. The moves come as American and European officials have grown increasingly concerned about Moscow’s deployment of additional troops near the Ukraine border.

In rejecting the Pentagon’s push to remain until Afghan security forces can assert themselves against the Taliban, Mr. Biden forcibly stamped his views on a policy he has long debated but never controlled. Now, after years of arguing against an extended American military presence in Afghanistan, the president is doing things his way, with the deadline set for the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. A senior Biden administration official said the president had come to believe that a “conditions-based approach” would mean that American troops would never leave the country. The war has cost trillions of dollars in addition to the lives of more than 2,000 U.S. service members and at least 100,000 Afghan civilians.

St. Vincent seeks water, funds as volcano keeps erupting (AP) Leaders of volcano-wracked St. Vincent said Tuesday that water is running short as heavy ash contaminates supplies, and they estimated that the eastern Caribbean island will need hundreds of millions of dollars to recover from the eruption of La Soufriere. Between 16,000 to 20,000 people have been evacuated from the island’s northern region, where the exploding volcano is located, with more than 3,000 of them staying at more than 80 government shelters. Dozens of people stood in lines on Tuesday for water or to retrieve money sent by friends and family abroad. Among those standing in one crowd was retired police officer Paul Smart. “The volcano caught us with our pants down, and it’s very devastating,” he said. “No water, lots of dust in our home. We thank God we are alive, but we need more help at this moment.”

Mumbai imposes strict virus restrictions as infections surge (AP) The teeming metropolis of Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, the Indian state worst hit by the pandemic, face stricter restrictions for 15 days starting Wednesday in an effort to stem the surge of coronavirus infections. Top state officials stressed that the closure of most industries, businesses, public places and limits on the movement of people didn’t constitute a lockdown. Last year, a sudden, harsh, nationwide lockdown left millions jobless overnight. Stranded in cities with no income or food, thousands of migrant workers walked on highways to get home. Since then, state leaders have repeatedly stressed that another lockdown wasn’t on the cards. The distinction did little to allay Ramachal Yadav’s anxieties. On Wednesday morning, he joined thousands of others at a Mumbai railway station getting on a train back home. “There is no work,” said the 45-year-old. India has detected over 180,000 new infections in the past 24 hours, about a third in Maharashtra state. India has so far confirmed over 13.9 million cases and 172,000 dead in what is likely an undercount.

Beijing’s All For Collectivism, Until It’s Organized Labor (NPR) 31-year-old Chen Guojiang, better known as Mengzhua, was delivering hundreds of take-out food orders a day, zipping along Beijing’s streets on an electric scooter at death-defying speeds. Along the way, he filmed short videos documenting the viciously competitive conditions for China’s estimated 3 million workers who use digital platforms for delivery jobs. He also called for collective action against powerful e-commerce companies to demand better pay. Mengzhua disappeared in February. In March, news emerged that he was being held in detention for picking quarrels and provoking trouble—a catch-all charge commonly used to detain both petty criminals and political activists. After police confirmed Mengzhu would be tried on criminal charges, friends and supporters began collecting donations to cover his lawyer fees. Within days, they had raised about $20,000 and attracted the attention of China’s state security forces, who then contacted each of the donation campaign organizers to warn them not to help Mengzhu. An academic who studies Chinese labor activism said “Anything that coheres collective power for workers is seen as a threat to state power. [Authorities] cannot accept ... anything that looks a little bit like an independent trade union. That is a red line for the Chinese government.” Mengzhu’s social media accounts have been deleted, and he faces up to five years in prison.

Tensions Mount Over Taiwan (Foreign Policy) Twenty-five Chinese jets breached Taiwan’s air defense identification zone on Monday, China’s largest incursion into Taiwanese airspace in a year. The maneuver is part of a long-standing Chinese harassment campaign that intensified last year, when Taiwan saw a record 380 incursions. Intended to wear down Taiwanese morale, the constant intrusions force risky and costly scrambling by its fighters in response. Taiwan has said it will no longer respond by dispatching jets and, instead, by tracking the flights with missile defense systems. The intensified campaign in part results from increasing nationalism within the Chinese system. It is also a response to signals that the United States is growing closer to Taiwan. Last week, the Biden administration loosened restraints on U.S. officials meeting with their Taiwanese counterparts and dispatched a team of retired politicians to Taipei in what a White House official called a “personal signal” of his commitment. These gestures are all symbolic, but it’s hard to overstate how much they matter in generating anger inside the Chinese political system. Hatred of the idea of an independent Taiwan is drummed into Chinese kids from kindergarten. The chance of actual Chinese invasion still remains small, despite recent warnings from U.S. admirals. To assemble the forces required for even a chance of success would take China weeks at best and be visible well in advance. Rationally, an invasion would be a very high-risk move from a largely risk-averse leadership. The question is: Is the Chinese leadership acting rationally? In the last year, the tone of its rhetoric has intensified in a way that alarms even seasoned readers of Beijing’s language. Chinese diplomats’ aggressive posturing and state media’s violent rhetoric seem off—it could mean Beijing is capable of making dumb mistakes. In a system where backing down from conflict could leave military leaders or provincial officials politically exposed, a small clash in the ocean or in the air could very easily spin out of control.

Satellite images and data obtained by The Associated Press document for the first time the full impact of the policies of then-President Donald Trump, who abandoned decades-long U.S. opposition to the settlements and proposed a Mideast plan that would have allowed Israel to keep them all—even those deep inside the West Bank. Although the Trump plan has been scrapped, the lasting legacy of construction will make it even harder to create a viable Palestinian state alongside Israel. President Joe Biden’s administration has embraced the two-state solution—which is still widely seen as the only solution to the decades-old conflict—but given no indication on how it plans to promote it.

Biden backs UAE arms sale (Foreign Policy) The Biden administration has decided to follow through on the sale of $23 billion worth of military equipment to the United Arab Emirates, HuffPost reported on Tuesday. The sale—which includes 50 F-35 fighter jets—had been finalized in the final hours of the Trump administration and was paused for review in the first weeks of Biden’s term. An attempt to block the sale in the Senate was defeated by a 49-47 vote in December. A White House review of U.S. arms sales to Saudi Arabia is still ongoing.

Study finds people want more than watchdogs for journalists (AP) A study of the public’s attitude toward the press reveals that distrust goes deeper than partisanship and down to how journalists define their very mission. The study defines five core principles or beliefs that drive most journalists: keep watch on public officials and the powerful; amplify voices that often go unheard; society works better with information out in the open; the more facts people have the closer they will get to the truth; and it’s necessary to spotlight a community’s problems to solve them. Yet the survey, which asked non-journalists a series of questions designed to measure support for each of those ideas, found unqualified majority support for only one of them. Two-thirds of those surveyed fully supported the fact-finding mission. Half of the public embraced the principle that it’s important for the media to give a voice to the less powerful, according to the survey, and slightly less than half fully supported the roles of oversight and promoting transparency. Less than a third of the respondents agreed completely with the idea that it’s important to aggressively point out problems. Only 11% of the public, most of them liberals, offered full support to all five ideas.

In January, sales of toilet paper were down 4.3 percent compared to January 2020, as a nation worked through a glut of toilet tissue accumulated in linen closets over the course of months. Following the domestic onset of the pandemic, Americans resorted to the Smaug strategy of bathroom tissue management, which was to hoard it and avariciously seek more out despite ample reserves. At the time, companies had difficulties expanding capacity to make more of it to keep pace, because toilet paper requires an enormous unique machine to make. It’s also very clear from the data it’s just a toilet paper stockpile America is working through; sales of paper towels were up 10 percent in January, and household cleaners were up 75 percent.

We see little to no press on this stateside and when we do it is always downplayed, misrepresented, and the blame is typically relegated to a single issue (think last years yellow vests protesting only a fuel tax, something we reported on HERE.) On that note, things are heating up once again as French union activists cut electricity to nearly 100,000 homes or offices. Eiffel Tower staff walked off the job. Even Paris opera workers joined in Tuesday’s nationwide protests across France as workers rallied against the government’s plan to raise the retirement age to 64. Despite 13 days of crippling train and subway strikes, French President Emmanuel Macron and his government stayed firm. The prime minister declared his “total” determination to reshape a pension system that unions celebrate as a model for the rest of the world but that he calls unfair and destined to collapse into debt. Jeffrey Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself Many are aware of George Soros, as well as his Open Society and One Foundation, but then, of course, many are not. If you are far removed from the worlds of Global finance, Philanthropy or Political Conspiracy, then why would you? He’s been linked to funding things like Antifa, the Caravan to the Border, Drug/Human trafficking, crashing the British stock market in 92 (making roughly 10 billion for his hedge fund), Global racketeering and the Rise of Greta Thurnberg as well as everyone’s favorite horrifically biased “fact-checker” Snopes, the coming Ukraine super scandal, and working as a destabilization agent for people who are far more powerful than even him (People like THIS). Attorney General Bill Barr, who sources from Navy Intelligence claim is one of many tasked with bringing down a “Deep State” in Washington, seems to have recently and publicly set his sights on Soros. Usually, you hear about low-level lackeys and henchmen like James Comey, Joe Bidden or Adam Schiff, but rarely do you see a major player like this openly in the cross-hairs. Perhaps this is confirmation that the quiet war really IS reaching a boiling point. It has been said that this man represents everything that has gone wrong with the Democratic party in recent decades. As with Trump, I try not to form a personal opinion because I’ve obviously never met George Soros, I’m just reporting what I hear and have found, and suggest everyone else do the same when it comes to hearsay. Apparently the “Far left” billionaire has been systematically targeting district attorney races throughout the United States. Many of his backed candidates have won their races and are causing “havoc” across the country. This week US Attorney General Bill Barr spoke with Martha MacCallum, calling out George Soros for subverting the legal system in the US and creating more crime and violence. We’ll be keeping an eye on how all these proceeds. Now many will read “Far Left” and instantly think this man is on their side, I would caution these folks to reconsider. Despite his proclaimed affiliations with Democratic candidates he seems to be the opposite, in fact, if he truly belongs to any party it would be the lower rungs of the Global Financial Elite. He’s been described as “A parasite attached to the Democratic party”. In my own words, I’d describe this fellow as a financial powerhouse who understands the growing popularity of Compassion and maintains a certain veneer as the perfect cover for his own agendas. In resignation news we have a few doozy’s to mention, firstly (and perhaps most notably) we have Pearson PLC Chief Executive John Fallon announcing his “retirement” and has agreed to sell its 25% stake in Penguin Random House to Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA for $675 million. An interesting caveat here is that Obama gave Pearson Publishing $350 million to create the Common Core text and Pearson, in turn, gave Obama a $65 million dollar book deal (the very definition of quid pro quo, establishment media remains silent). It’s not a huge secret that publishing a book is an effective way to launder money. We see time after time big politicians writing books that nobody reads and are pawned off cheap immediately by the retail stores, we also know non-fiction are slow sellers and it’s hard to make much money at it. Other high profile “resignations” this past week include President of Iraq Barham Salih (who resigned amid protests), Boeing USA CEO Dennis Muilenburg and senior adviser Mike Luttig, Nissan Motor Co Vice COO Jun Seki, and though they didn’t exactly occur in the last week, an important pair of resignations to watch and remember going forward was that of Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Last summer, a series of alarming foreshocks immediately preceded the two historic quakes that shook the Ridgecrest area in southern California. But those quakes were nothing compared to “the Big One” that scientists assure us is way overdue. Someday an earthquake that is hundreds of times stronger will absolutely devastate the California coastline, and it may be arriving a lot sooner than many people think. Farther north, the Cascadia subduction zone is a ticking time bomb that could literally unleash an unprecedented disaster at any moment. What I am talking about is an event that will completely wipe out entire cities and that the region will never recover from. As I have detailed repeatedly, authorities have warned us that “everything west of Interstate 5 will be toast” when an absolutely massive seismic event along the Cascadia subduction zone sends a gigantic tsunami sweeping inland. And without a doubt, that day is coming. Because of the extreme damage that a major west coast seismic event would do to our economy and to our Internet infrastructure, all of our lives will dramatically change the moment it happens. So it is understandable why so many people are alarmed by the tremendous shaking that we have witnessed over the past few days. As Americans all over the country were celebrating Christmas, the state of California was shaken by 9 significant earthquakes, and farther north the city of Vancouver was rattled by a magnitude 6.3 quake… A series of earthquakes on Christmas Eve and before dawn Christmas morning hit around California, and a much bigger 6.3 quake shook off Vancouver. At least nine earthquakes in 24 hours reaching up to 3.2 magnitude shook California from the Los Angeles area north to Chico, the U.S. Geological Survey reports. The other quakes in the swarm ranged from 2.5 to 3.0 magnitude and stretched the length of the state, according to the USGS. The large earthquake that shook Vancouver was preceded by five other large earthquakes that hit the region on Monday… There were no reports of damage or injuries after five earthquakes struck within seven hours off the northwest end of Vancouver Island on Monday. The tremors began as minor quakes, but grew stronger as the morning turned to afternoon. According to the CBC, those five large earthquakes ranged in size from magnitude 4.8 to magnitude 6.0… 5.1 (8:44 a.m. PT). 5.6 (11:13 a.m.). 5.8 (11:49 a.m.). 6.0 (12:56 p.m.). 4.8 (3:38 p.m.). Hopefully, this earthquake swarm off the coast of Vancouver will turn out to be nothing. But scientists tell us that an enormous rupture of the Cascadia subduction zone has the potential to produce a giant tsunami hundreds of feet tall, and the death and destruction such a tsunami would cause in Vancouver, Seattle, Tacoma, Portland and other coastal communities in the Northwest would be absolutely off the charts. Meanwhile, we have also witnessed more than 30 significant earthquakes over the last 30 days in the vicinity of Mt. Rainier, and anyone that is familiar with my work knows how concerned I am about the potential for a major eruption of that volcano. Because there is always at least a little bit of shaking going on along the west coast, many residents have been lulled into a false sense of security. Yes, a major disaster has not happened in a long time, and as a result, many believe that there is nothing to be concerned about. But someday a major event will strike very suddenly, and the devastation will be unimaginable. Just consider what Steve Quayle recently told Greg Hunter… “The amount of damage, and I am going to choose my words carefully, is going to be precedent setting. It’s going to be the combination of volcanos going off that are inland from the subduction zone where the plates meet, coupled with tsunamis. . . . When this happens, you will lose eight million to twenty million people. When it happens, you will lose all productivity in the electronic field, obviously Silicon Valley, and all food production in all of California, Oregon and Washington. When it happens, you will have a State of Emergency unlike any other. How about the refugees? There will be 3.5 million refugees to take care of. When this happens, what happens to the underground aquifers, and where does everybody go for fresh water? There will be years of drought, years of famine and years of water, water where did it all go? It is a very dire situation painted by computer models. This is not a sensational thing. I want to shift our focus onto some of the other things that are happening in this world that you deserve to know.

One of the biggest things that happened this week that are being massively underreported by the mainstream media is the fact that Syria has won the war against ISIS.

Bashar al-Assad is the clear victor. Something that we’ve been telling you was going to happen for over a year ago now. The Syrian government with an alliance of the Chinese, Russians, Iranians, and Hezbollah have defeated the rebel groups inside of Syria.

Those rebels that were supported by Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. We’ve been saying that this was going to happen for over a year now on this YouTube channel.

However, there’s still many present dangers brewing in the Middle East that we’ve been discussing this week. With ISIS destroyed in Syria, we are seeing Israel launch airstrikes on the Syrian government and Bashar al-Assad’s forces.

Many people are calling this is an act of desperation. The bigger geopolitical goals of the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Israel have failed in the region. They have been unable to achieve regime change in Syria and now face a more Iranian influence in the Middle East.

Israel is doing everything in its power to prevent this including the possibility of starting another war in the region just as this one is ending. Thursday in the early morning Israel attacked a Syrian military base which made the Syrian government responded by warning of serious repercussions. The attack reportedly killed two people.

Most importantly the attack comes just two weeks after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Vladimir Putin to discuss the future of Syria. According to many accounts, the meeting was very contentious with Israel stating that they would not tolerate an Iranian presence in Syria. The Israelis threatened to assassinate Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by bombing his palace. They also tried to derail the U.S. and Russian brokered de-escalation deal. According to Russian news accounts, the Israeli Prime Minister was frantic, emotional and “at times even close to panic.” This puts the United States in a tough geopolitical situation as US and Syrian forces are about to collide in the same territory where ISIS was just destroyed.

This is all happening on the heels of Israeli troops getting ready and entering the Golan heights region which is a contested territorial land between Israel and Syria.

Israel has stated that they did this to prevent a chemical weapons attack by the Syrian government against the civilian population. They said they were, “protecting civilians by launching this preemptive attack” but in reality, there is a bigger geopolitical purpose.

They are motivated to avoid fully losing the war in Syria. We warned you about this on August 25th, 2017 in a video titled “Who is Jared Kushner And Why We Should All Worry.”

We went into great detail about how Jared Kushner was sent to Israel by Donald Trump. His purpose was not to negotiate a peace deal with the Palestinians and Israelis but to negotiate the future fate of Syria. We thought this would lead to further military conflict in the region and that is what we see right now. It wasn’t myself just saying this it was also Syrian girl who released a video on August 27th predicting that this would happen and it did.

In other disastrous Middle East news, we have the U.S. ally Saudi Arabia which Fox News reported yesterday allegedly funded a dry run for the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

This comes from a new lawsuit against Saudi Arabia.

It is not news because in July of 2016 shortly after the 28 pages from the 9/11 report were declassified we learned about this information. We reported it to you even though many the declassified pages were redacted.

The story was downplayed in part because of the coup d’etat that happened in Turkey.

With the 9/11 anniversary happening tomorrow it’s important for everyone to understand the relationships between the intelligence agencies of Israel, the United States and Saudi Arabia and how they work together. There is substantial evidence backing the claim that they either let 9/11 happen or made it happen. I spent years talking about this and investigating. With tomorrow being the anniversary expect more coverage on this issue from us.

I think it should be clear that the only thing allowing the United States to have world hegemony is the war industry. The United States is spending more on defense than the next eight countries combined.

When our only tool is a hammer, everything starts looking like a nail. We’re getting more news this week of the United States sending 3,500 extra troops to Afghanistan.

This deployment shows you that it is not a drawdown like other alternative media personalities are trying to tell you. It is a further continuation of the same failed U.S. military foreign policy.

We are also getting more news in which China warns Trump that China will back North Korea if the United States strikes first.

We told you this was happening behind the scenes in a video we did three days ago called “China’s Gold New World Order” six days ago. Also in a video called “The Hidden Truth About North Korea” and in many other videos. The reality that we’ve been warning about has started. It looks like a nuclear North Korea is here to stay which underlines a bigger problem for the United States.

That is the supremacy of the U.S. petrodollar which took another hit this week. Venezuela announced it’s about to ditch the US dollar and start using the currencies of Russia, China, India, and the European Union, any currency except for the US dollar. My response to this is to keep an eye out for another Venezuelan coup. We will continue to observe this here on this YouTube channel.

In other horrible corporatocracy news, we have the credit reporting service Equifax which was recently compromised. The information of a hundred and forty-three million U.S. customers was compromised. After discovering that all of their customer’s private information was hacked, they chose to wait on that information. Three Equifax senior executives sold company shares worth almost 1.8 million dollars.

They waited some 41 days with your information compromised for their corporate benefit. Leaving you screwed and in the dark as they rushed to cover their ass-ets. That’s just accepted business practice now and will likely have little consequence for them.

Just like corporate spying on your competition which Uber was caught doing in a federal investigation. They were spying on their competitors Lyft drivers.

Google which is just becoming more tyrannical by the day. The company that owns YouTube just removed a video of a former British politician Nigel Farage speaking about immigration and Islam.

They deleted mainstream political speech. Supposedly because of YouTube’s policy on “hate speech.”

It should be blatantly obvious that there is no longer true freedom of speech, freedom of privacy or any freedom at all from this CIA dominated corporation. An organization that is intentionally becoming integral in our daily lives. It has the most valuable resource of all and that, of course, is your information. I’ve been warning you about this for years now. Until we stop using and empowering these awful monopolies and corporations, they will continue to influence our lives, and we face the repercussions of this.
