1. What is the color of your hairbrush?:

It’s got that like duo chrome/oil slick paint on it. I don’t know how else to describe it?

2. Name a food you never eat?:

Hm, Steak. Honestly most meat I prefer to stay away from. I’m not like officially vegetarian but I’ve never really enjoyed meat that much.

3. Are you typically too warm or too cold?:

Too cold! I have a space heater in my room and I bring a jacket with me everywhere cause I’m always freezing.

4. What were you doing 45 minutes ago?:

I was on a conference call with my boss discussing some t-shirt designs I’m working on.

5. What is your favorite candy bar?:

Hershey’s chocolate bar with almonds in it. <3 I slap that baby between two nature valley bars and BAM, you got yourself a vending machine smore.

6. Have you ever been to a professional sports event?:

No lmao. But I did enjoy going to all the football games in high school if that counts for anything.

7. What is the last thing you said out loud?:

“Okay, sure.” (Visiting my parents and my mother asked if I could check their mail)

8. What is your favorite ice cream?:

LEMON. And in a waffle cone to be precise. But if that isn’t an option I will take any kind of coffee flavor.

9. What was the last thing you had to drink?:

Coffee. Still working through the cup I poured this morning.

10. Do you like your wallet?:

Yes. It’s shaped like a rainbow and it’s pastel but kinda clear and v cute if I do say so myself. 🌈

Some of my leftover lemon birthday cake. I really like lemon if you haven’t picked up on that lmao.

12. Did you buy any new clothes last weekend?:

Nah, but I did buy wall decor for my bedroom.

Probably... the Super Bowl like a year or two ago... maybe?

White cheddar but I usually don’t eat it just cause the texture kinda bothers me.

15. Who is the last person you sent a text message to?:

My coworker. It was in response to a rupaul gif she sent to our work gc.

16. Ever go camping?:

Embarrassingly enough I think I have to admit that I’m a bit too high maintenance for camping. I love nature though! But if I can’t stay in like a cabin or RV then it’s not really for me. ☠️

17. Do you take vitamins?:

Yes. It takes forever to get through them all in the morning.

18. Do you go to church every Sunday?:

Nope. Had enough religious trauma the first 17 years of my life, don’t plan on revisiting that experience lmao.

19. Do you have a tan?:

NO BUT I USED TO DAMMIT. But, I chose the life of someone who works inside all day. 😪

I don’t really drink soda but every now and then I say fuck it and have a coke if I need to pull an all-nighter or something.

Only when I’m on the highways cause I travel back and forth between two cities a lot. That drive is so exhausting so sometime I push the limit when there aren’t a lot of cars around.

24. What terrifies you?:

Public speaking for like serious events. Straight up passed out a few times. But if it’s for fun stuff or casual presentations it’s not too bad.

25. Look to your left, what do you see?:

Pillows. I’m laying in bed while I answer these.

26. What chore do you hate?:

Laundry D; I don’t like how long it takes to fold everything and put it away!

27. What do you think of when you hear an Australian accent?:

Americans who love to do terrible Australian accents lmao.

Coke. Don’t drink it very often though.

Drive thru only. I got things to do, hennie.

My dad.

Friday! Friday afternoons when I’m free from work feel so so good :,)

It would take me so unbearably long.

Strong, and preferably iced. More on the bitter side than the sweet side.

My white adidas 80s Continentals. I am a slut for adidas sneakers OTL.

38. The time you normally go to sleep?:

Usually 2 A.M. or somewhere around that.

39. The time you normally get up?:

I get up at about 8 or 9 AM but I don’t usually get out of bed until like 10:30 or 11. I am trash, I know.

40. What do you prefer, sunrise or sunsets?:

It’s hard to choose but probably sunsets. Watching the sun set over the water and the clouds get all pink and purple and the sand looking all glowy... ugh I love it.

41. How many blankets on your bed?:

Two ✌🏼.

42. Describe your kitchen plates:

All black. That’s it. Lmao

43. Do you have a favorite alcoholic beverage?:

I don’t really drink but lemon drops if I’m out at a bar. (piña-coladas on the beach fucking SLAP tho so maybe that.)

I used to all the time but it’s been years.

45. What color is your car?:

Gold and I hate it. I refuse to acknowledge that thing as my car.

46. Can you change a tire?:

No... & I didn’t come here to get shamed ☠️

I am from the U.S. so I’m just gonna... skip this one I guess lol

My current job as a Graphic designer.

49. How did you get your biggest scar?:

Fell on concrete at recess as a kid and busted up most of my left knee pretty bad.

50. What did you do today that made someone else happy?:

Hm... made my bosses and my coworker laugh in our skype call with my general tom foolery I guess. But I’ll probably spam my best friend some dumb tiktoks later that I know will make her laugh.

[ 365 Days of SasuHina || Day Two Hundred Eighteen: Kindness ] [ Uchiha Sasuke, Hyūga Hinata ] [ SasuHina, bullying ] [ Verse: Best Years of Your Life ] [ AO3 Link ]

People are so quick to undervalue kindness. They see it as weakness, a useless act that just costs you in the end.

For a while...he was one of them. To be soft was to have vulnerabilities. People only respect you when you are strong. When you let nothing get to you. When you keep your face a blank mask and your heart a hard stone.

He’d been weak when he was young. Then he and his brother lost their parents...and Sasuke learned just how cruel the world could be. How cruel people could be. A huge portion of his life was...gone.

And for that...he was bullied. Teased. Terrorized. Empathy was nowhere to be found in those his age. Instead, they sensed weakness...and took advantage.

It was then Sasuke swore...never again would be be soft. Never again would he expose open wounds. From then on, despite his tender age, Sasuke became cold. Aloof. Closed off from everyone around him. Even his older brother - his hero, his savior, his last link to family so close - had trouble prying him open and seeing what lay hidden within.

It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Itachi...but he still shied from his aunt and cousin. If he was to avoid any and all pain - any chance of being needled - he had to maintain his new facade at all costs. To all people.

He fell into cliche after cliche. Dark clothes. Loud music. Isolated, singular hobbies. His dark, edgy persona still gave him a kind of allure, and he had to warn off girl after girl that insisted they would be the light to his shadow. Convinced they were somehow a cure for all of his problems.

Tch...shallow brats that failed to grasp his reasoning...thus, he would never relent to them. If anything...they only served to push him further away.

There was only one person he regularly tolerated...and after a while, he wasn’t even sure the reasons why anymore. Naruto was loud, obnoxious, forward, and prying. He was always trying to drag the Uchiha out and get him into all kinds of hijinks and shenanigans. Most of the time, Sasuke just found him annoying.

...but maybe a small part of him appreciated the distraction. Someone who didn’t give up.

Like he already had.

By the time high school rolls around, he’s as embroiled in his persona as ever. It gets him his fair share of mockery, especially from older students. “Edgelord” he’s called. “Emo”. “Wannabe”. As if his trauma is no longer valid after so long. As if it’s him using the deaths of his parents as a weapon...and not everyone else.

Whatever…

He doesn’t particularly care about school. He does fine in his classes, hardly giving effort but still managing good grades. It drives Naruto up the wall. Part of him can’t help but be amused.

Odds are, he could have gone through their entire high school career without incident. Their school is big enough, they could have gone four years without crossing paths.

But fate has other ideas.

“Hey!”

Eyes drawn to the shout, Sasuke glances over in the hallway after the final class of the day gives out. On the floor is a rather tiny looking freshman he doesn’t know, a binder beside her having vomited papers as it fell. And in front of her is another girl, who stands toe to toe with an upperclassman nearly twice her size. She’s short, figure hard to determine in her baggy clothes. But there’s a stubborn set to her jaw as she looks up at what he assumes is the aggressor.

Well, this ought to be interesting.

“What?”

“You did that on p-purpose!”

There’s a snicker at her stutter. “And what if I did?”

“Apologize!”

“Yeah, right. I got better things to do with my time, shorty. Outta the way, or you’ll be the next one on the floor.”

“That attitude might make you feel powerful, but in the end it will o-only dead-end you. Bullies always end up sad, alone, and regretful.”

He gives a scoff, temper clearly burning away his aloof humor. “You sure got a mouth on you for a tiny little freshie. Clearly you dunno how things work in high school. You small fries stay of my way, and I don’t have to kick your ass. Your friend didn’t heed that too well, and now she’s on the floor. And if you don’t listen, then -”

“Then what?”

Two pairs of eyes both look over, spotting a hip-cocked Sasuke, hands in his pockets. The bully gives him a once-over, and snorts. “What, you her bodyguard, asshole? Finally crawl out of Hot Topic long enough to come to school?”

“Long enough to kick your ass if you don’t leave her alone.” Sasuke gives a smirk. “Bet I won’t even chip my nail polish,” he drawls, tone dripping with sarcasm.

“You’ve gone from cheeky to plain stupid, pal.”

“I’m not your pal. And you’re not nearly as tough as you think you are. If you really get off on picking on freshmen girls and name-calling, you need to find some new hobbies.”

The upperclassman’s jaw grits. “Don’t make me beat that grin off your face.”

“Go ahead, resort to violence. Just means I get the clear to defend myself. And given I’ve got eight years of self defense training...I’m willing to bet I can have you pinned in thirty seconds flat. Or...you could shuffle your neanderthal ass down the hallway and move on with your life. Otherwise, I’ll gladly humiliate you in public if that’s what you’re into.”

Face blooming bright red with temper, he seems to weigh Sasuke’s words as if trying to decide if he’s bluffing or not. In the end, he spits on his jacket before barreling past him, a few others following close behind.

Sasuke just glares from the corner of his eyes. He needs to wash this thing, anyway.

Kneeling down, the plucky girl helps her companion gather up her papers. “I’m sorry...but at least he’s gone.”

“It’s fine…I’m used to it…”

“Well you shouldn’t have to be.”

Somber face clearly not conveying any faith in such an idea, she just hugs the binder to her chest before keeping on her way.

Left behind, the other girl watches her go, expression a mixture of disappointment and glum acceptance.

“You’ve got some nerve, demanding an apology out of someone like that.”

Pale eyes glance to him a bit coolly. “...no one should act that way. It was mean and uncalled for.”

“That’s just life,” Sasuke counters. “The big guys pick on the little guys. Questioning it usually just gets you bruised.”

“You stood up to him, didn’t you?”

“Because he was about to mop the floor with you. And because I wasn’t lying about being able to handle him. You, on the other hand, don’t look quite so capable...no offense.”

“...none taken.” She sighs. “...I just...I can’t understand an attitude like that. How can people be so...mean?”

“No idea. They just are. You either let it get to you, or you buck up and grow enough shell to ignore it.”

“There’s no third option?”

“What third option?”

“Standing up against it! I’m not about to let some jerks intimidate me into silence! No matter what anybody else does to me, or says to me...I’ll still choose kindness. I can’t let it get to me. And I’m not about to let it change me, either.”

That earns an amused snort. “Whatever you want to tell yourself.”

She looks to him openly. “...I remember you.”

“Huh?”

“You’re the one who...lost his parents. In elementary school. Sasuke…?”

Dark eyes blink in surprise. “...and?”

“...I just thought someone like you would value kindness, given what you...w-what you went through.”

“...I learned that kindness is for suckers and weaklings. I didn’t get sympathy back then. I got harassment and bullying. That’s when I learned that it’s easier to feel nothing than let people hurt you like that.”

“...if that was true...why did you step in?”

He doesn’t respond.

“If that was true, then you should have just left me to figure that out myself, right?” She loosely folds her arms, considering him. “...what you did was kind. You didn’t have to help me. You chose to. Isn’t that a bit contradictory…?”

Sasuke scowls, brow furrowing. “...tch, whatever.”

A hint of a smile lifts her lips. “...well, either way...t-thank you. Hopefully he won’t mess with her again.”

“I wouldn’t count on it.”

“That’s why I said ‘hopefully’. It might not be likely...but I’ll still hope.”

What a weird girl… “...I gotta get home.” He’s surprised Itachi hasn’t come looking for him yet to drive him. How long has he even been standing here? Ten minutes?

“...me too. Bye, Sasuke…”

“You’re not gonna tell me your name?”

“...you care?”

“Might as well.”

A moment to consider him. “...Hinata.”

“Right...well, try not to stick your nose into any more trouble, Hinata.”

She just smiles. “I can’t make any promises...but maybe you’ll lend me a hand again, right?”

“Don’t count on something you don’t know.”

Hands fold behind her back, still smiling. “...call it a gut feeling.” With that, she gives a nod before making her way down the now-empty hallway.

...weird. Him, kind? Yeah right...it was just a random inclination. Doesn’t mean anything. He’s not about to go soft. Especially for some girl he hardly knows.

...still...she remembered who he was. Wasn’t snide about it. That was...interesting.

Mulling it over a moment longer, he then just shrugs, heading toward his locker. Well, it’s not going to happen again. No sense wasting time thinking about it.

It’s not like he’ll see her again.

It's late OTL Not sure I like this too much, but...it's done. Wanted to do more, but today was long and busy so my writing window was pushed late / cut short, blegh. Sasuke tries to be a tough guy. Hinata refuses to let the world make her hard. Maybe Sasuke's not as rigid as he seems... Anyway...that's all out of me for tonight. Thanks for reading~

14. if you were to live with your best friend in an old flat in a big city, what would it look like?

kellie: i picture something with light wooden floors, white furniture (bc i’m into that Aesthetic u feel) and random succulents around the house LOLchristine: if it’s an old flat, im assuming it has lots of wood textures! so i would want the walls to be white/a light color to contrast w the darker wood hehe. plants!! on the windowsills!! and a few paintings/photo frames for decoration

18. tell us about something dumb/funny you did that has since gone down in history between you and your friends and is always brought up.

kellie: okay so this happened just a few months ago;; i was with a friend and ran into a famous Vietnamese celebrity at a dessert place (my parents were going to see his show literally the following night) and i was too shy to ask for a picture EVEN WHEN HE TALKED TO ME, ASKED ME TO TAKE A PICTURE FOR HIM AND HIS FRIENDS, AND ASKED ME IF HE OVERHEARD HIS CONVERSATION ABOUT BADMOUTHING SOMEONE OTL it was Wild… but yeah my friend who was with me brings it up now and then bc of how painfully shy i acted HAHAHA christine: one time i was really frustrated bc the car in front of me was driving slow so i changed into a different lane and then we kind of just had a race?? and now every time instead of saying bye my friend tells me “dont race ppl!”

32. tell us about the stuffed animal you kept as a kid. what is it called? what does it look like? do you still keep it?

kellie: i have this sailor moon plushie i keep on my bedside… i’ve had her since i was probably six years old??? idk if it’s like a rare collectible or not but the doll looks extremely similar to the original character’s art style from the 90′s anime series christine: ive had so many stuffed animals since i was a kid lol and i still have a lot of them. lol the one ive had the longest is this frog plushie that i called Froggie (creative, i know) that was intended to be a phone holder but i used to just play with it a lot

kellie: five years ago means that it was 2012 and i was in high school and miserable so it’s meaningless to go five years back :///, i’d go forward to see how i’m doing–what job i have, if i’m financially stable…. L O L… see how seventeen’s doingchristine: i would ideally go to neither LOL i dont like to dwell on the past too much and thinking about the future scares me…but if i had to choose, i would go to the past. i feel like i would be influenced by whatever i saw in the future and idk if that would be a good thing

1. How do they fall asleep? Wake up? Any daily rituals?

Semi has a hard time falling asleep and will take awhile to fall asleep. But when he does fall asleep, he falls asleep right in Ushijima’s side. Ushijima will also wrap his arms around Semi as he falls asleep.

Nothing changes with Ushijima and he wakes up bright and early to go out for a jog. However, he does his best not to wake Semi up and comes back around the time Semi is waking up.

After Ushijima come back, they get ready for the day. They cook breakfast together :D

2. How’s their team work? Do they share well?

Pretty good! When they went to university, they lived together in a small apartment and learned how to share a lot of things.

3. Are they open about their relationship? How do they feel about public displays of affection?

Semi wanted to privet about it, but Tendou discovered that SemiSemi and Wakatoshi were dating because he was being nosy and saw Ushijima’s name ins Semi’s phone was ‘Toshi 😘 ’ And well…it was history after that!

4. First impression of each other? Was it love at first sight?

Ushijima- Good setter, interesting hair.

Semi- Wow he’s dense

It was not love at first sight, it was volleyball is life.

5. Nicknames? Pet names? Any in-jokes?

Semi calls Ushijima, Toshi! But other than, nothing else.

6. Any tasks that are always left to one person?

Pretty equal

7. What annoys them the most about their partner? Would they change it if they could?

When Semi is being stubborn and Ushijima’s denseness is sometime a little annoying.

But would they change it? No because it makes them who they are. Semi sees Ushijima’s denseness is cute and seeing Semi being stubborn can be cute.

8. What do the like best about their partner?

Ushijima- He’s seen as this timid but he’s very gentle. Semi loves how gentle he is around everyone and everything. He wants to make sure

Semi- His determination, every since high school he was determined to improve on his skills and really anything.

9. Do they discuss big issues? Religion? Marriage? Children? Death?

Yes when they come up. Like Semi heard it on the news and he wants to know what Ushijima’s opinion is then they’ll have a long discussion about it. Another reason for the discussion is an event like a wedding happens, this’ll get this thinking and one of them will bring it up.

10. Who drives? Cooks? Does the handiwork? Cleans? Pays the bills? Handles the public?

Even though they would eventually move to Tokyo, Ushijima would usually drive when they visit Miyagi.

But they cook together! Something they’ve done since university and it’s something they both find relaxing and enjoy the bonding moment.

Neither of them really do handiwork. But they both clean!

They split their bills so one person pays these and the other pays the other half.

11. Do they celebrate holidays? Anniversaries?

Yes they do! The celebrate the big holidays, but they look forward to their anniversary the most! They buy each other a small gifts and go out for a nice dinner!

12. Is there a wedding? What was the proposal like? Any kind of honeymoon?

YES OF COURSE! Ushijima was the one who proposed and he did so when they went to visit family in Miyagi. He proposed in a park that meant a lot of them (Because it was also near STZ).

Their honeymoon was a relaxing, but fun one! They’d probably go to Hawaii.

13. What do they do for fun? Do they have a favorite activity or do they like to switch things up?

Stay home and lay on the couch, watching TV or reading.

14. Anything they both dread?

Semi- The battle to go to sleep

Ushijima- Having to pull weeds

15. How adventurous are they?

Eh, depends on if they’re in the mood.

16. Do they keep secrets? Lie? Cheat?

None of those. If they try and keep a secert, it won’t last long because they’ll have this guilty feeling.

Semi will lie about how much sleep he got the previous night, but Ushijima knows better and tells him to go back to sleep for an extra hour.

They don’t even think about cheating.

17. What would make them break up? Would it be permanent?

Oh I hate questions like these. Um….probably because they were both being far too stubborn to talk through their problems. But I don’t think it would be permanet.

They’d both be given their space to breath and they’d talk to someone. Like Semi goes to Reon while Ushijima would go to Tendou.

18. What are their dates like? How long do/did they date? Do they ever feel the need to take a break from each other?

Their dates are very chilled. They like to go out into town and try out the different street food (They share because that’s only more calories for Ushijima to burn). Before they got married, they dated for five years.

No, no break.

19. What do they fight about? What are their arguments like? How do they make up?

Probably other stuff, but they’re like small things, like what they want for dinner. But they decide something in the middle or go out to their favorite ramen place.

20. What does their home look like? Their room?

I’ve actually never thought about that. Hm.

Their room is simple, the colors are natural tones and they have plants!

21. Do they share any interests or hobbies?

Volleyball

22. Does their work ever interfere with the relationship?

Kind of sort of? But they work together so they get to see each other no matter what!

23. How do they hug? Kiss? Tease? Flirt? Comfort?

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. And yes!

Sleepy!Semi likes to hug Ushijima from behind and Ushijima hugs Semi while they sleep.

Kisses everyday!

Semi does most of the teasing and flirting. But Ushijima flirts with Semi to catch him off guard because blushing Semi is adorable!

Comforting is a yes.

24. Any doubts about the relationship?

Rarely,

25. How much time do they spend together? Do they share their feelings, or hold things in?

Everyday, but they like to go out with their friends sometimes! (Or the different positions will go out for dinner like setters will go out one night and the wing spikers will go out the next week)

Ushijima will share his feelings and Semi will hold them in (And then they’ll come out somehow!)

26. How do their friends feel about their relationship? Their families?

Tendou was shocked that SemiSemi and Wakatoshi were dating! But he was happy because if that made them happy, he was happy! The rest of the team were very supportive of them.

As for their families, Semi’s Grandmother LOVES Ushijima and always asking how he’s doing and if he’s eaten enough. Semi’s parents are okay with their son’s boyfriend. Ushijima’s family also love Semi, his mother saying that Semi keeps her son on his toe!

27. Do they have kids? Grow old together? Split up?

They have three kids! Two girls and a boy (Twins and then a little girl who are three years apart!) And yes of course they grow old together.

28. What are their vacations like?

When they do go on vacation, they like to explore places. Some of the must go places, but they like to explore and find hidden treasures!

29. How do the handle disasters or emergencies? Minor injuries? Sickness?

They both worry about each other. If one is sick, the other will take care of them until they’re better. Or help them out when they’re injured.

30. Could they manage a long distance relationship?

I think they could. It would be hard at first, but they would work things out and try to make it work.

31. Do they have finish each other’s sentences? Pick up any phrases or habits from each other? Know when the other is hiding something?

No.

But Ushijima will know when Semi is lying about how much sleep he got because it’s obvious with those bags!

32. Do they ever get into trouble? Is it serious, or are they just mischievous?

It’s more mischievous, like Semi will prank Ushijima every so often.

33. What kind of presents do they get each other? Do they only do it on special occasions?

They’re usually small and nothing over the top. Like Semi getting Ushijima a new flower pot or Ushijima getting Semi a new blanket. But on special occasions, they’ll splurge. Semi would get something that could be useful to Ushijima and Ushijima would probably get Semi something he’s had his eye on for awhile.

34. Do they have any pets?

I’m going to say yes! A Shiba Inu named Ace.

35. Do they bring out the best in each other, or the worst? Do they have a fatal flaw?

They bring the best I think.

36. What’s their greatest strength as a couple? Their weakness?

Strength- Communication

Weakness- Their personalities would probably clash (I couldn’t think of anything for this OTL)

37. How much would they be willing to sacrifice for the other? Any lines they refuse to cross?

Depends? Like if Ushijima is sick, Semi is sacrifice the little sleep he already gets to make sure Ushijima is okay and get anything he needs. And Ushijima would sacrifice going on his run if Semi had a bad night of sleep.

Pretty vanilla. They do try things, put that’s only when they feel adventurous.

Ugh I’ve thought about this but I can’t remember!

Semi was the one who kissed first and Ushijima realized that he was in love with him.

40. Any special memories? Do they have a special place they like to go to?

Semi’s favorite is when they traveled to overseas to visit Ushijima’s Father for the first time. Semi was nervous about how Ushijima’s Father would react, but it turned out to be a pleasant trip.

Miyagi is their special place because after graduating high school, they left to go to university in Tokyo and now live there because of their jobs (Both being members of the national team). So it’s nice when they go to visit family because they get away from the big city.

41. Are they party-goers? What are they like when they’re drunk? Does it happen often?

Nope! They’re not really the party-goers and they will drink, but not that often.

42. Do they let each other get away with things that would normally bother them?

I think it would just depend on what it is. *Shrug*

Everyday? About everything? (I don’t get this question)

Um yes? I’m sure if they weren’t comfortable with each other that they wouldn’t be together?

But with the privacy, it’s privacy and yes they let each other have it.

45. Any special dreams or goals they have as a couple? Any heartbreaks? Regrets?

To be happy and never fall out of love would be their goal.
