Ike, crom, marth, lucina, roy, leo, leon, that soft angel boy

Ike:He’s one of my favorite characters in the franchise. He has a very well paced character arc that is satisfyingly completed over the course of 2 games, his character growth is palpable by the end and he’s gay which is a plus. He has a lot of subtleties and depth to him which a lot of main lords do not have so he’s definitely among my favorites. As a unit he’s one of the strongest in the franchise and I love him, Ragnell is maybe my favorite weapon in the franchise. I love Ike, 10/10 character, he’s a standard that all main characters in the series should aspire to match.Chrom:He’s untoasted white bread given a face. He’s got no real personality besides being a Nice Person. The game bends the logic of the world and plot it’s built up just to avoid killing him off and for some reason he’s considered the ‘main’ lord of awakening when he’s both the weakest and least important plot wise of the three main characters. Chrom is only the main character of awakening for the first act of the game, after which his importance falls off basically completely until the scene in act 3 where he dies but doesn’t really die because of poorly explained shenanigans. I don’t care for Chrom. He’s a decent unit, but outstripped in every way by Lucina assuming you don’t go out of your way to make her terrible. He gets a 5/10 because he’s not actively bad and boring like Robin is, but he’s nothing special in any way.Marth:Honestly, I was surprised by how many good lines of dialogue he had in Shadow Dragon. I haven’t experienced his more dialogue heavy appearance in FE3, but he was a serviceable character in Shadow Dragon. He’s very much The Hero, I personally don’t have anything against just having a plain jane, unambiguously good, typically righteous with no subversions ‘Hero’ every once in a while and I honestly feel Marth does it better than some of the other examples in the franchise. He’s still a little plain but he has some interesting aspects to him if you read into it a lil bit. As a unit he’s shaky in FE3 and Shadow Dragon, but in FE1 he’s a pantsless murder machine. My Marth turned out amazing in Shadow Dragon and I had a lot of fun using him and teleporting him around the map. He’s still undeservedly popular though because of Smash. In a vacuum I give him a 6.5/10.Lucina:She’s the most interesting of the main characters in Awakening by a landslide but that doesn’t save her from still being kind of boring. Unless you make her mom a mage or the village maiden she’ll be an unstoppable killing machine, which mine was. She was an extremely basic ‘point and click’ type of unit, I pointed her in the direction of a group of enemies, they would all die, rinse, repeat. She’s boring but practical. She deserves to be the sole main character of Awakening and if she were she’d probably be pretty cool and interesting all the way around but her dialogue is just so boring and one of the most important moments in the plot for her is literally meaningless and the game goes out of its way to undermine her a lot in favor of Chrom and Robin. People need to stop sexualizing her and talking about her as their ‘waifu’ and actually discuss her as a person, but IS won’t stop putting her in bunny outfits and bikini beach DLCs so good job completely destroying the integrity of this character I guess. Lucina gets a solid ‘Why Didn’t You Have The Guts To Make Her A Trans Guy’/10.Roy:I like Roy more than most people who are actually into FE. He, like Marth, is a pretty cut and dry ‘Hero’ character but I find the charm in him comes from two traits most characters like him don’t have. One, he’s very educated and book smart. He’s learned a lot about the world and history and war tactics and even court manners which gives him a better starting block in terms of intelligence and demeanor compared to the average main character in the series. In spite of this, he’s still inexperienced in terms of fighting and leading. Roy’s mistakes generally come from his inexperience leading rather than from a point of ignorance, rudeness, or outright stupidity unlike many other lords. This lets him have level headed interactions with a lot of characters in the game without letting his emotions get to him often and I found that refreshing. He has cute supports, too. As a unit most people consider him the weakest main character in the franchise. For a statistically average Roy I might be inclined to agree but my first Roy was above average and my second Roy capped almost every stat, so I personally haven’t seen that side of him. He promotes way too late but gets hands down the most broken weapon in the franchise, which if you’ve saved Hammerne he can swing 80 times. I give Roy a solid 8.5/10. I like him a lot but I recognize I have bias towards him because of my very above average Roys.Leo:I’m going to assume you mean This Leo. He’s a fine character. I like a lot of his supports, he’s a mage on a horse, he gets a legendary weapon. I didn’t use him but a couple times in my one run of Conquest, though if I ever replay it I will likely use him more heavily. He’s just a little bit weak for his join time, imo, but he can certainly become very strong. I don’t have a strong opinion on Leo one way or the other, he’s probably the most boring of his siblings, but I’d still consider him better than any of the Hoshidan Royals except maybe Takumi. His involvement in Conquest’s plot is lesser than any of his siblings and his involvement in Birthright is one of the worst bits of writing that game has, but that’s not really his fault. I’ll give him a 7/10.Leon:I’m going to assume you mean This Leon. He’s a good character, I was very content with him as positive, explicit, gay representation in the franchise. He’s a fun, well rounded, character in terms of dialogue and also a super strong unit who I used in every single fight after his recruitment time. His supports, though few, were all well written and give good insight to his mindset and personality, and his base conversations with Celica are also charming. I wish they wrote more of him, but I’m very happy with what I got. I’ll give Leon a 10/10 cause there’s nothing about him I have a problem with.The Soft Angel Boy:I’m assuming you mean Reyson. I love Reyson, he’s a great character and a good unit. He’s definitely one of my favorite refreshers in the franchise. Galdr are a much more interesting refreshment mechanic compared to basically any other one in the whole series, though getting experience on him to unlock the better ones takes forever. In terms of personality he’s essentially a turbo jock by Heron standards. He can fly as fast as Tibarn over ‘short’ distances, doesn’t break his bones if he punches someone, he can eat meat and not die, Reyson’s physical fitness and fortitude is honestly obscene compared to all other herons we meet. Based on what lore we get he’s almost comically strong compared to a typical heron. In spite of his hot blooded personality and turbo jock status he’s still super fucking pretty and so that makes people take him more lightly, which he takes advantage of as much as he loathes it. Reyson’s a good character who, like Ike, has a good character arc over the two games. I give him a solid 9/10. It’d be a 10/10 if they actually explicitly confirmed he and Tibarn are dating. They canonically share a bed though, that’s pretty gay.
