Wait how do you make a font of your handwriting???? I've been wanting to do that for so LONG but i could only ever find weird sketchy websites and apps that didn't work :(
i think i used calligraphr! its been a while since i actually made my font, but the basic steps of it is
》 find a typeface grid where you can write out your alphabet
》 fill in all the letters
》 scan it into a font maker
》 dowload the svg or ttf file
》 i had to look up how to do this but you can upload it to your comp's default fonts! and it should come up in clip studio from there
calligraphr is free to use, there's an option to upgrade but it provides a template and creates the file for you. there's also a Microsoft Font Maker! i havent used it but i found out abt it thru this post that gives you a quick playthru on how to make your font!
for reference, this is how the original font came out thru calligraphr
Tumblr media
it's a nice personal touch, and makes it blend into my art more than a serif or sans serif font. it looks like Mine and i didnt need to write it out by hand :>

so I've been saving up for a while to get myself this art kit for my bday present to myself, it's not huge but yeah anyway it came in stock so I bought it!!
it's multimedia and an artist teaches you through a workbook how they use the mediums together. ive started it, it's weird cause I'm pretty staunchly self taught, I never look up tutorials ever so I feel weird reading about how something works lol (even tho the tutorial part is barely a tute, it's mostly guiding you through messing around with the materials and how they work together)
anyway. point of this is im being tricked into using watercolour, my biggest fear in art, and it's going okay! I feel nervous with it though. esp since I'm still trying to just figure it out myself and the booklet doesn't teach you how to actually use it, so I'm playing it by ear. but part of why I avoided it was bc it seemed like a medium very resistant to like, just fucking around until you get something that works. but whatever. I'm gonna fuck around! and I'm having fun with it!

Ooh okay thanks so much!! I was wondering your process? I wanna learn digital art and I’m not sure how to start! What tablet/brushes do you use and how do you get such vibrant clean cut colors/lines? You’re so skilled! Any tips for someone who wants to start out? And how do you create your own style? Sorry these are so many questions - I just really admire your work!!!!
Ill make a separate process post bc i did get asked about that a few times. (might have that up tomorrow or the day after)
Im currently using an Xp-pen Artist 15.6. As for brushes, i just downloaded a bunch of random free brushes from the internet, i usually use a kind of fuzzy textured brush.
Tips for new artists:
Honestly just practice a TON. Dont be afraid of making bad art its how you develop your skills. Try things that challenge you, if youre not the best at drawing backgrounds and usually avoid them (ha me 3 years ago), then draw some freaking backgrounds!!
When it comes to developing your own style, i think that just comes naturally with time. Just experiment, look at art that you like, what elements do you like about it? My style has changed so much over the years and most of that just came from me trying new things with my art and ending up liking it. ANYWAY PRACTICE A LOT AND MAKE ART THAT MAKES U HAPPY
