Topic: Ace is salty because this fandom is shit sometimes AKA ship wars

Alright everyone here is the biggest point I want to make. YES these characters are from an amazing show with quality content NO they are not real people, they aren’t even people. They are fucking land masses. YES they represent real people and should be treated as such.

Let me clarify before I even get into this that I do not think incest and pedophlia are okay and if your read this post correctly you will understand that.

Okay disclaimers and shit out of the way, this post is about spamano, itacest, and usuk. And general discourse in the fandom.

I ship most forms of itacest and I adore spamano. I do NOT ship USUK it is my biggest notp and it makes me incredibly uncomfortble. Let me go in more detail so you understand.

I actually prefer just saying Italy x Romano or RomaIta/ItaRoma because calling it itacest doesn’t really work for how I do it but for less confusion that is what I will call it in this post. In my stories, art, etc. if it is “itacest” they are not brothers or it is country verse. See there is no canon way for how the countries came to be. All we know is that they can be found by other nations and they don’t discuss having parents, like ever. Also, as said before they are fucking pieces of land in the countryverse. There is no actual blood connection to them as brothers and I always state or obviously imply that they are not brothers, human or country verse. Au’s do in fact exist, fun fact. I respect if you do not ship it, even if it is because you think it is still incest. That is totally fine and all I ask of you is that you respect that I do ship it. Their is this huge thing in the fandom where we talk about not hating on ships but itacest, iberiacest, and germancest seem to be excluded for some damn reason. (I also ship “Germancest” and “Iberiacest”, though I prefer GerPru and SpaPort/PortSpa ship name wise, and the same as said about itacest applies here)

As for Spamano a lot of people call this ship pedophilia even though both characters are canon adults????? I understand if it is adult spain and baby romano but people are openly attacking spamano shippers that ship them as adults and that is not okay. If they are both adults it isn’t pedophilia. (there is a lot of discourse around the whole BTT and all and I am sure you can find the posts about that.)

Now I am sure you are asking, What does you not shipping UsUk have to do with all this? It is attacked for the same reasons.

Exactly. As much as I hate USUK those are not the reasons and my point for bringing it into this is wether I ship it or not I openly respect people who ship it. As long as it isn’t shoved down my throat I have no problem with you shipping it. It just makes me uncomfortable because of personal things that happened. I have no problem talking about them so if you are curious go ahead and message me and I’ll explain why I don’t ship it. Bottom line though, I don’t ship it and I don’t avidly go attacking people who do because that is rude. I don’t ask people who post it to stop. If it really becomes a problem I have the tag blocked and I kindly ask people to make sure they tag it with something I can block so that I can ensure I don’t see it. If something makes you uncomfortable that is fine. Communicate that and don’t let yourself get trampled, but don’t trample other people either. It is perfectly acceptable to ship things as long as they aren’t actually hurting people and it is perfectly acceptable not to ship things as long as you don’t attack people that do.

The whole point of fandoms is to be able to find other people that have interests in what you do and what you enjoy and I have made some of my best friends through hetalia. However, this fandom is also genuinly the hardest fandom to be a part of (that I am in at least, I can’t say much about other fandoms). There are a lot of really good people in this fandom, smart people that take interest in real history or are very kind even if they don’t care about the history behind the show. But there are also a lot of absolute dicks in this fandom. People that shove things that make you uncomfortable down your throat, people that take history and bend it to be so much worse or make terrible things that happen seem totally fine.

All I am saying is this fandoms slogan is “make pasta not war” and I have seen far to much war in the fandom and not enough pasta. Never enough pasta. Let’s make more pasta. Let people ship and not ship what they want.
