I am now being actively courted by TWO master's programs at the university. Terrible dilemma, etc.

I'm not That worried ab falling into controversy at some point cause "oh hy has problematic kinks" bc most ppl who actually read books bc they enjoy books are somewhat immune against cancel culture. like why should i care what the author was accused of this time every talented classic author is some kind of racist sexist asshole with a major in douchery. readers are least likely to care ab what the authors of their fav books are getting called out for on Twitter. and also generally have better reading comprehension and logical capabilities because books help u develop that.

My take on Dutch boat guy is he, like Wingsnight and like Sam, were lessons for Rebecca. In order for her to ever get to a point where she could truly experience allowing someone who makes her feel like lightning, someone truly wonderful, to fully love her, she had to realize she couldn’t settle for fine (Wingsnight), she couldn’t keep her guard up and worry about being hurt (Sam), and ultimately that in order to ever get there, she would have to learn vulnerability (Dutch boat guy). This may have been the most vulnerable and least guarded Rebecca has been. In an unfamiliar place, soaked from a fall, injured, unable to leave until her clothes are dried, more or less forced to allow someone to be there for and take care of her.

Now whether we believe she’ll end up with him or no one or WHOMEVER, I do think that she had to experience this to know that she COULD experience lightning. Because whether we like it or not, this was definitely lightning for her. And as scary as it may have been, it was worth it, even if she had to leave it behind. My girl had a major growth moment in this episode, and it’s the turning point for her being able to accept the lightning if/when it strikes.

the NORMAL book to read in a tree on campus at my very professional adult job is the scientific history book, but the one that WILL get me the look of absolute befuddlement and mild consternation I crave from my supervisor is the gnostic gospels, so here we are

my brothers dog is one of those Big Dumb Fast Strong (BDFS) Dogs. sometimes the dog stays at our place. we have a yard and the dog is usually out on lead-line thing, whatever they’re called—basically he’s on a leash but he can still run. ever since my brother got him, i have been worried about this set up, because again, the dog is BDFS and has busted out of his collar more than once. i have expressed my worries but no one did anything. i’m no stranger to that reaction to my worries in general, and over time i have learned that it usually means “you’re overreacting, there’s nothing to worry about here.” except the past ooooh 8 years it has become increasingly clear to me that some of my worries are actually quite legitimate and just because they are ignored by others doesn’t mean that they aren’t an issue!

anyway my brother’s dog ran away today. 😞 i feel so useless. don’t worry we’ve done a whole bunch of the recommended stuff so we’re hopeful he’ll come back, plus he’s microchipped and we’ve got fliers and have alerted various town officials posted on social media etc. i’m just pissed off. at my family, because they didn’t take my worry seriously, but also at myself, because i really need to start trusting my gut instincts about this stuff and push harder.

#i was right about covid interrupting life for much longer than two weeks and i even thought it would stick around for three years at least #i also was right abt DT getting elected even though everyone else said it would neve rhappen… #i love to be right of course but ​i do NOT like being right about these things in particular #but like how can i tell when i worry is legit and when it’s an overreaction?? #i can’t!!! no one who makes predictions knows what’s gonna happen #i just. i always feel so lost like my #instincts are compromised by my anxiety #and i don’t want to look stupid or insane by worrying about useless things #but then when something bad DOES happen i feel bad if i saw it coming but wasn’t able to stop it #UGH actually no this IS all my fault because on wednesday i was feeling happy for once! #and i told myself ‘hey you’re feeling happy right now! hmm that must mean something awful is around the corner’ #lo & behold #(i’m kidding btw i know that is irrational and a harmful self-destructive thought pattern!) #(but also it’s completely true lmao) #(jk i know it isn’t) #(or do i?) #(i do) #(maybe) #(no i do)

okay this is anime called devilman crybaby. where this guy called ryo is sent when he was a kid as a mission on earth to invade and kill everyone hes basically devil/satan. in his kid years he befriends this guy akira whos very sweet and soft and starts crying at literally every minor inconvinience (me fr) and gets overprotective of him (you know hes very VERY GAY FOR HIM). but obv ryo is on a mission and as he grows up his first task is to pick weaklings and turn them into devils who are interchangeable with human form so that they can live among other humans and slowly kill them because they have been mistreated their whole lives so obv they hate the world and would go on a genocide if given the power (hence name devilman). and guess who ryo gives this power to first?? obv his beloved his achilles to patroculous akira. so akira turns to a hot devil but hes still a senstive lil bitch so he gets the name devilman crybaby but he tries to stop ryo but ryo has a will of iron hes ready to end the world. so akira turns against ryo and ryo begs him to let him kill everyone and he will spare his life only (do you see the goddamn tension). but akira is a goodboy the hero so he fights ryo but ryo is the mighty smexy devil so he kills everyone and despite being very gae he decides to kill akira so that akira dont hinders his mission anymore. so ryo ends the world and kills akira. his mission is completed and hes lying down beside akiras dead limbless body and he then realises there is no point in winning if love doesnt survive and he cries and he cries because hes so helpless and evil won but lost again to the goodness of love and gayness and love and love and gay and
