What supernatural creature is your character most scared of?: Oh mother and father always warned me to stay away from all those above water, but most horror stories revolved around humans and vampires, so both of them. And octopus, though not necessarily a supernatural creature, they definitely do seem magical. Who or what would they die for? Just about anyone really, though they'd prefer not to. Does your character fight or flee? Likely flee or freeze in terror...depends on the situation, to be honest.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT Q’S
QUESTION ONE: were you born on the island, if so, what kind of curiosities do you have about the world beyond? if you weren’t, what do you miss about the world outside veritas isles?
I was born here, and it's impossible not to be curious especially whenever I learn of or discover a new object I've never seen before for my shop. I would love to get the chance to travel further than Oasis Isle. Maybe one day.
QUESTION TWO: what is your favorite part about the island?
Even when I think I've uncovered all the treasures there are to find, I always manage to find more. There's so much beauty and knowledge within everyone, and each individual has a unique story to tell.
QUESTION THREE: if your character is supernatural, do they fear humans? if human, do they fear the supernatural?
I am quite curious about them, but I also do fear the tales I've been told as a child. But, I've become more and more accustomed to them, and they aren't all bad.
QUESTION FOUR: share a fun headcanon or fact about your character! this doesn’t have to be long, just something to introduce us to your character!
Like most mermaids, Kava has always found herself drawn to shiny things and because of this always had a collection but the more and more time spent near Oasis Isle and Justport, the more she knew that she wanted to do more with it and not only explore the ocean. Eventually she befriended an elderly man who told her tales of the world beyond, as well as shared trinkets that he had in his pawn shop. They developed a cute, platonic friendship, almost like a grandparent - grandchild bond, though when he passed on, he left the shop for her. Initially, her family was against it, but they've learned to accept it. For the most part.
ADDITIONAL HEADCANON
Kava is a hopeless romantic and loves to read, mostly romance novels that has her dreaming of places outside Veritas Isles such as Paris. Because of this, she has a tendency to crush easily and hard, which leads often to heartbreak. But, she still hasn't given up on the idea of true love.
WANTED CONNECTIONS.
close friends
her pod friends !
family members
a co owner that runs the speakeasy side of the business
people she's crushing on or has crushed on, i imagine her to be the type to fall a little bit in love with everyone

I was listening to Friday Night Funkin and listened to ,'Oh God No,' which was based off a creepypasta where Luigi got jealous, betrayed Mario for Bowser and tried killing him to be recognized only to get thrown in kava. It reminded me of Liu and Lao's dynamic with people in intros constantly railing on him about being second best and the song fits in an au where Lao let his envy get in the way.
Obviously we know Lao and Liu are homies, but honestly given Lao's revenant legit said he should've been the chosen one when revenant Liu fell, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some genuine envy and resentment on Lao's side of the coin(especially with people rubbing it in) but he simply repressed it by trying to better himself and didn't let it cloud his judgement and didn't let it fuck his and Liu's relationship up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kung Lao has some fatal flaws, with arrogance for sure among them, thankfully for Earthrealm, his loyalty to family and friends is one of his best attributes. I think the arrogance may be at least partially a result of great pressure that was put on him in previous timelines but to be honest, I can't blame other characters for being done with Lao’s behavior at times and all remarks about him always being the second best don’t come out of nowhere. But again, family and friends are more important to Kung Lao than his own ego and he does wish the best to Liu Kang, even if he alone won’t ever get his dreams come true (being the best Champion).
As for revenant Lao, I suspect that Netherrealm’s negative energy is what could affect his feelings toward his fallen friend, as it seems revenants in general are tied to hate, envy and blame everyone around them for their suffering. So Lao nurturing some envy and maybe even hate for Liu Kang would fit into what we know about Quan Chi’s creations and manipulations. The envy could be always there but it is the dark magic and living in Netherrealm that bring it to surface.
Also, nice art!

Fic: To Catch A Rabbit, chapter 1 Pairing: Saren Arterius/Nihlus Kryik Current WC: 862
--
The turian embassy was a relaxed part of the Tower, most days. They were a practical, work-focused species; if you buckled down and got your work taken care of right away, then you’d have more time later to hang around and socialize at the end of the day. Diplomats tucked themselves away in their offices to take calls and prep for meetings, lawyers gathered around their favorite set of couches in the corner with their notes and kava, secretaries kept up a steady hum of answering the comm and chatting as they typed. Music at a respectful volume slid out from cracks in doors left ajar to mark who was open for a walk-in. A board by the very well-stocked snack area tracked the clawball standings for the season, with a list of names and championship bets scrawled on one side in Ambassador Itatumus’s looping handwriting. Nobody shouted, nobody sprinted across the lobby, nobody made their own argument with an idiot in authority back home everyone else’s problem. It was calm, quiet, peaceful even.
It was one of the better places in the Tower to have to wait for someone. Saren’s chosen spot of on the floor with his back against the councilor’s secretary’s desk wasn’t most people’s first choice, but Ierian had left a box of marrow cakes on the corner and Frozen Vengeance’s new album quietly playing as an apology, so he was perfectly fine.
If anything, it was amusing, really. Ierian had called him while he was stuck in relay traffic coming back to the Citadel, asking him to swing by the office when he got back to the station. He’d requested he at least try to be punctual, to which Saren had argued he was always punctual and the old drake was thinking of his unfortunate choice in students, and then Ierian himself had been delayed by a surprise call from Din Korlack. No matter. Now Saren got free marrow cakes.
He’d let his head lean back against the desk and his eyes fall shut while he enjoyed the music, one long foot idly tapping along to the beat while his imagination directed dramatic music videos. Frozen Vengeance were a powerhouse of turian heavy metal from the homeworld, carving out a niche for themselves making music about the War for Palaven. While Saren was more fond of Galactic Cannibals, he’d still happily place Frozen Vengeance in his top six bands, especially given how well their heavy industrial sound lent itself to vivid mental images of the horrors of planet-wide war. This particular album was about espionage and political intrigue before the start of the war, when the Cipritinian queen and empress-to-be was still trying to gain power subtly and getting thwarted at every turn. Probably not the greatest music to play in an embassy out of context, but then, Ierian liked finding passive-aggressive ways to tell his political rivals to go away.
He was in the middle of a biting ballad about the failed assassination attempt on the last Speaker of Tiirtias when something nudged his foot. He clicked his mandibles at it. “Hold on, he's almost to the bridge, it's the best part.”
A deep, amused chuff rolled over his cowl. “I don't know, I think ‘No Way Out’ is better.”
Saren paused, the familiar baritone sliding under his crest to scratch the base of his brain and wrap his neurons in warmth. His eyes popped open, and he sat forward almost too fast. “Nihlus?”
The maroon mountain in front of him lifted his mandibles. Nihlus had been visiting his mother, evidently – his crest and mandibles sported more piercings than the last time Saren had seen him, and his favorite beat-up leather jacket was slung over one shoulder. He only came back like that from Surdak Outpost, specifically, nowhere else in Terminus. From his place on the floor, Saren had to crane his neck almost all the way back to look at his face, which hurt too much, so he dropped his gaze back down to his keel, draped in a Supermassive Black Hole muscle shirt.
He had to force his eyes to stay there, safely on the artwork of the universe being sucked into the endless void at the center of the galaxy, instead of the rippling biceps on display to either side of it.
If Nihlus could tell he was struggling, he didn't acknowledge it. He never had seemed to understand the effect he had on people. He just folded his arms and cocked one hip, making it that much harder not to look at his muscles. Damn him. “Don't tell me he wants to talk to you, too.”
Saren lifted one brow plate, fluttering his mandibles and forcing himself to exhale slowly through his nose. Ah. Business, then. “He does,” he agreed, reaching behind him to use the desk to haul himself to his feet. “Though if you're here, I suppose that answers the question of what I did to draw his ire. I haven't turned in my latest apology letter yet. Sorry, reparations report.”
Nihlus snorted. “Yeah, yeah, it’s all my fault. The walking dark energy nuke is innocent of all war crimes.”

Intro
Well, let’s see.  I don’t know exactly how to start one of these things and make them readable or worth for anyone to read, so I’m going to use this as a platform to regurgitate all of my -isms on for you.... but for me mainly.
I’m on the cusp of my 20′s and 30′s and am hitting an existential critical mass; just about to lose it.  Done a lot of things but nothing’s stuck.  I’ve acquired a lot of passions and made achievements, and at the same time endured lots of shitty situations, in addition to making a few poor decisions.  I know that I have ADHD (perhaps the impetus of my starting this account, maybe to hold myself better accountable, track any kind of progress, etc.), so it has forcibly guided some of my life decisions, for the worse sometimes.  I can’t really pinpoint exactly what “notable” things ADHD has made me do, much less can’t really call it a superpower, contrary to whatever “Dr. Oz” says (he might not have said that).  In any regard, I always felt it best to at least try and document and sometimes emblazon publicly (and privately), whatever I do and can do; improvements I can make, and strong suits I may have.  This is also the absolute extent to which I am willing to have any form of social media.  You won’t find me anywhere else.
I revel in, as of lately, exercise, drawing/painting, drinking kava (crushed root beverage from the Pacific, an excellent and healthy alcohol substitute), being social (although we cannot do that much nowadays).  I’ve been spending the better part of the past 2 years as a delivery driver, working like a zombie; I mean I never thought much to the job before I started, but after I did, it felt like time spent off your feet after work is some type of luxury bequeathed to you by your overlord, as your serf your life away on his feudal fiefdom.
So you may find that I’m really busy on here posting stuff I create or write, or absolutely nothing for months/years at a time; but hopefully I can change that this time for the better.  Nonetheless I’m happy you took time to read me up.  Also looking forward to checking out all you cool cats on here too.
Cheers,
Jules

Unfuck your life, a retrospective
Chapter One: Un-f Your Head
A special kind of person has special kind of problems. My flavor that had to be dealt with was narcissism. I would start drinking and then talk for hours, just to hear the sound of own voice. People would listen because I was a gifted orator, not because the words connected to provide any substance.
Hopefully after reading the intro and doing some reflecting you’ve come to find yourself ready to begin the hard work towards making your life better, but before we get started, you have to make one promise that you’ll carry through the entirety of this book -
If your doctor says to do something that is contrary to any of my recommendations, you listen to your doctor instead of me.
I am not a doctor by any stretch of the imagination, and as you'll see later on, I have also had to reach out to medical professionals when the nature of my problem went outside the realm of what I could attain myself. You promise you’ll go to them when things get really tough, right? Right? Okay cool, lets begin.
First things first. You’re going to need to spend some time with yourself, thinking, exploring, crying, etc. Some of it you’ll do by yourself, some of it you’ll do with dear friends or spouses, and some of it will come off a drunken 2 day weekend bender and you’re so sorry for it please god stay friends with me. Trust me, I’ve been to all of these places. The purpose of all of this is to take some time, get a feel for who you are, what you like, don’t like, your good, bad and otherwise. Grab something you can take notes on, and start here. Write down 5 things you like about yourself. It can be as simple as “I’m great about remembering to lay down the toilet seat” or as complex as “My confidence going into the Calc 3 final.” The reason we’re going with the good first is that you need to CONSTANTLY remind yourself of the things that you like about yourself. Can’t think of anything? Ask a friend. Don’t have any friends? Ask your mom or dad. Don’t have any parents? Jesus, I’m sorry, tweet me and I’ll help you with this part.
Once you have those down, put them somewhere you’ll see them every day. I used to have mine as my cell phone background. I used to also be studying for a computer certification, and every time I’d score over a 70%, I’d write on the piece of paper, “Good job Joe!” in a cool color, and it was forever in my study journal, so that every time I’d review, I’d remember how good I was at this stuff.
The reason behind all of this is that with how deep we’re going to go into making positive change, you need to have the foundation of confidence knowing that we’re working with a good person, not a shit person who is hopeless. If you are reading this right now, you are not a shit person, because you are at least trying.
The next thing we’re going to do is write out 3 things you don’t like about yourself. Now, when you get into this, make sure you’re writing something down that you have a measure of control over. If you were born with a birth defect, or have a mental illness, don’t write down the symptoms of those things as the focus of your change. These need to be more along the lines of, “I wish I was more outgoing”, or “I wish I didn’t talk badly about people behind their backs.” or even, “I wish I was better at coding/reading/being empathetic.”
Full disclosure, when I went through weekly therapy after my divorce, there were so many problems that we had to unpack and dig through that tackling only 3 problems seemed like a waste of time, but what I’ve found out is that depending on where you are emotionally in this process, 3 might be all you can handle. If you wanna do more, and address more, then by all means, go for it.
Every week, remind yourself of the things you want to change, remind yourself of the things that you like about yourself, and then finally write down how you can correlate the things you like about yourself with the things you want to change. For example, I’m really good at being able to gather lots of information, and one of the things I’m working on is trying to stick to a budget, so I’ve been trying to gather as much financial information about myself as possible to better understand when I spend, why I spend, and try different ways of budgeting so that I’m not overextending myself. This part is going to take some time, and I recommend only attempting one per week at first until you get the hang of it.
Now, because it’s the elephant in the room, we’re going to go ahead and jump into the subject of drugs, what I would be a healthy guideline to follow regarding their use (as long as your doctor gives the okay), and I’ll provide what I use/don’t use, so hopefully you’ll be more informed than just your 1hr DARE class you attended 10 years ago. I wish that people had been real with me about drugs. We’re going to be roping alcohol in with drugs, because saying drugs and alcohol is like saying fruit and watermelon. It’s all drugs, with varying pros, cons and usages.
The drugs I’ve used/tried are as follows:
Adderall (I have a prescription for it, I’ll go into that later.)
Very low dose antidepressant (Prescription too. Haven’t noticed any mood changes with it, but my doctor recommended it for sleep, and it seems to be working. Gives me dry mouth.
Weed. Didn’t start smoking until I was 26, only smoked when I was really stressed out, had a period of a month where I was a daily smoker, now I try and stay away from it. It’s illegal where I’m from, so it’s best to stay away from things that could get me in trouble with the law.
Alcohol. Used to use it for stress release, now I only have a beer every once in a while, or an expensive tequila. Don’t like the way it makes me feel after more than 2 or 3 drinks. Brings out the worst in everyone, I’ve found.
Kratom. Only used in very small doses. Dried me out, but I did notice a very relaxing effect, and improved sexual performance on certain strains. The DEA is trying to make it illegal, so be careful with this one.
Kava. Root based tea that chilled me out. I highly recommend. Tastes like dirt. Get the powder, take your time making it, don’t mess with the concentrates or anything other than Noble powder.
We’ll touch on these again in the next chapter, but for now here’s what I want you to get real about.
Does my usage of drugs push me closer towards the things I like about myself, or towards the things I don’t like about myself? It’ll take some time to answer that, and it’ll take even longer to kick the habits and/or addictions associated if you decide the answer to be no.
In my case, I always knew I had issues with focus, we made jokes about it, I laughed along, but I always felt like a failure who was letting everyone around me down because I couldn’t finish anything I started. After getting into another serious relationship after my divorce I decided that the stakes were much higher this time around, and I wanted my promises to be not only remembered, but kept and followed through with. At this point I decided it was time to talk to my doctor, who then referred me to a psychiatrist who recommended I try a low dose of adderall. For me, it was a game changer. The problem with acquiring anything illegally is yes, you can go to jail, be fined, etc, but more importantly, you’re not doing something that can be monitored. Part of your doctors job is and should be supplying you with objectivity. Yes, yes, big pharma and “The Man” have gotten to your doctor and are causing him/her to prescribe things that fuck with your brain. If you’ll take off your tin-foil hat for a second, and finish your blunt, I’m going to level with you. Weed can make you paranoid, and if you’re smoking a lot, stop for a week, re-read this chapter and then reach out to me if you still wanna argue about the pros and cons of having a good, open, honest dialogue with your healthcare provider.
All of the drugs I’ve tried produced a result in my self-talk that made me decide, was this thing I’m putting in my body worth it? For some, no, for others, sometimes, and for yet still others, absolutely yes.
Except for heroin. Not even once.
The last thing I want to leave you with in this chapter is a plan for how to handle when you fall off the bandwagon, or miss the mark on your goals. Remember this from the intro?
The most important part of the process is accepting that you can change, you want to change, and you make the daily steps to change.
I know it wasn’t that long ago that you read it, but it’s worth repeating. I remember when I first began to tackle my relationship with alcohol, it was absolutely the hardest thing I’d ever done. I spent more time off the wagon than I spent going anywhere. Countless nights where, “oh I’ve had a rough day, I’ll just have one drink” turned into “ah so this is what the bottom of a bottle of Jose Quervo looks like. I’d forgotten for a moment.”. Shit happens, but you’re tougher than the shit you’re going through. We’re going to focus on a 5-10% change in your life every month. Absolutely keep reading, but remember, the 5-10% changes are going to be the easiest to make, with the longest lasting impact. Now get to it!
Action Items from This Chapter:
Write Down 5 Things You Like About Yourself:
Write Down 3 Things You Don’t Like About Yourself:
Write Down 1 Thing You’re Going To Change About Yourself, Using The Things You Like About Yourself.

Intro to the John Frum Movement
Believers regard John Frum as God; he is thought to divide his time between America and Yasur, a volcano on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu, South Pacific. He first made himself known to local inhabitants in the 1930s through a vision, urging the rejection of Christianity and colonial currency, and a return to kastom-- traditional culture. These were the customs and traditions that missionaries had forbidden, such as drinking an intoxicant called kava. Followers believe that subsequent events vindicated their faith: World War II brought sailors dressed in white to the island, along with technological marvels. Although these Americans left after the war, John Frum will one day return with a bounty of cargo from the United States. Believers offer prayers to Frum, and each year celebrate John Frum Day; ceremonies include raising U.S. flags and marching in mock U.S. uniforms, and replica chain saws are swung symbolically to prepare space for the building of factories. Members of the movement have also constructed an airstrip with bamboo control towers to facilitate the arrival of the cargo.

Recovery Formula Anxiety Review
When you struggle with a mental health issues, it is easy to forget how fascinating it can be. Anxiety, for example, is a daily challenge that leaks into every part of your life. But if you are able to take a brief step back, you’ll find that anxiety is also very interesting:
·         It is a mental condition that creates physical changes in the body. When you develop anxiety, you begin to create different hormone and neurotransmitter levels that create more anxiety until you are able to cure it. But if you’re able to mentally overcome anxiety, your hormone and neurotransmitter levels can change with it.
·         It is causes both common and rare symptoms, particularly physical symptoms. Anxiety can produce issues like blurry vision, trouble walking, and even weird noises in your ear – even though the cause of these symptoms is not entirely clear.
·         Anxiety is a broad term for very different conditions. Not only does the term “anxiety” cover disorders like generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, and more, but each person experiences those issues differently. For example, some people experience panic attacks that are almost entirely physical, while others experience mental attacks that are almost always triggered by extreme stress.
·         Anxiety recovery is not one size fits all. The exact same formula can work for one person and have no effect on another. In addition, anxiety is able to respond very well to the placebo effect, which means that it is possible to cure anxiety simply because someone tricked you into thinking that a treatment works even though it does not.
Finally, because anxiety is related to the brain, knowledge about anxiety can have a surprisingly powerful effect on how you treat it. Literally something as simple as reading about how anxiety symptoms work can help you reduce your anxiety. Why? Because fear about anxiety can create more anxiety.
The reason for this long intro – and why we’re here today – is because it all relates to a recovery formula for anxiety review that many people have been asking about.
You’ve likely seen in linked to on Calm Clinic, and mentioned throughout the CalmClinic website. You’ve also likely searched for review information on Rachel Ramos, the name most commonly associated with the recovery formula for anxiety. But, if you’re like most people, you don’t know much about whether the recovery formula works. We’re going to begin discussing that here today.
Before We Begin – Some Info About CalmClinic
Calm Clinic is a fascinating website, and one could argue that the website itself is its own treatment for anxiety. We mentioned above that information is power against treating anxiety. You will literally not find more free, specific information listed anywhere online or offline.
It is a treatment of itself. Reading the specific information that is included within the website can provide so much feedback and information about what causes your anxiety symptoms, why, and what you can do about it, that simply reading the pages can have a pronounced effect on your mental wellness.
Recovery Formula for Anxiety Review
Often when we think about what helps to relieve anxiety, we think about a few things:
·         Medicine
·         Therapy
·         Herbs and Alternative Treatments
These all have their own interesting merits, and are all worth discussing in greater detail about their success rates. But these are also ignoring a very important treatment category:
You.
Beyond the anxiety medications, beyond the cognitive behavioral therapy, beyond the kava kava, the hypnosis, the yoga, and the massage, you are still the most important type of treatment.
Altering what you do, how you think, and utilizing your own strengths – all of those can play a role in your ability to overcome anxiety. You don’t necessarily need some external treatment, although they can help. It may sound like the end of a corny movie, but the truth is that your power to beat anxiety is inside you. All of the other treatments are simply tools to help make it easier to get that out.
That is where the recovery formula for anxiety – and other self-help techniques – become so important. People often think of self-help as a sort of fake spiritual treatment for various issues, but that’s not entirely accurate.
Although the self-help industry is complicated, when people like Anthony Robbins, Rachel Ramos, and other self-help gurus promote strategies to cure anxiety through your own strength, it isn’t just a sales pitch. Yes, some of the techniques used to market them can be contentious, and no, self-help strategies are not at all perfect (more on that in a moment), but they absolutely can work.
The Key to Successful Self Help Strategies
Earlier we mentioned that self-help techniques are not perfect. In fact, even some of the best ones fail. There are self-help techniques that do almost nothing that are written by experts in the field, and self-help strategies written by random schmos that are able to help almost everyone.
Why does this happen?
This happens because self-help, unlike perhaps any other type of treatment, is driven by the person that decides to use it. As such, for a book on self-help tips to be successful:
·         It needs to be engaging. No one will commit long term to something that isn’t interesting.
·         It needs to be easy to implement. The concepts can be complex, but if you’re asking someone to make impossible life changes, it won’t work).
·         It needs to be long term. Anything can work temporarily. If someone gave you a bottle of water and called it magic anxiety-reducing pixie dust, you may still find your anxiety decreases just from the placebo effect alone. But if you are not committed and the concepts don’t translate into long term action, then you’re not going to get anything from it.
That is where the review of any good anxiety recovery formula seems to have its greatest strengths. Designed to be engaging, utilizing videos and diary methodologies for accountability, the ideas behind this type of formula are beyond sound. They require someone to commit to them in the long term and give the different ideas a shot, but once those ideas are taken, they guide people through the distinctive treatment ideas to help them discover more about themselves, and alter future behaviors in a way that reduces anxiety.
It is a process that is designed for specific personality types, but also one with a rousing success rate that and years of careful studies and reviews. Any time you try and recover from anxiety using a self-help strategy, assessing your own commitment level is going to be the first – and one of the most important – steps you can take to gauge whether or not it will work for you.
These types of strategies have proven efficacy, and while they come with a greater amount of subjectivity than other types of treatments, they do so with the idea that you will always be your best medication, asset, and strength. They are worth your time and attention, because they can work for you.
