It’s Leon! Hero, former champion, doting husband.

He’s also your first teacher.

People don’t expect it when you say he was your first teacher. Red is very active in your public appearances, and he was the one who sponsored you for the PWT. Strelli is much more like you, personality wise, and her fondness for dark types definitely has flavor of influence with your own preferences. Even Giovanni — if people find out about that — is someone who others can see you aligning yourself with. After all, he’s very much like your boss, even if no one ever addresses that similarity.

But … Leon? Goody-goody, thoughtful, cheerful Leon? That guy was the first one who saw any spark of potential in you, even back when you were an angry, jaded kid with a huge chip on their shoulder?

You laugh at their surprised expressions when people find out, and laugh harder as they try to connect the dots — the how, the why especially.

The truth of it is, nobody else seems to know Leon as well as you do.

Dude, Where's My Respect?: Largely averted inside law enforcement circles. Subtle Meaning Bouquets from Rose | Accepting | @invictarre

The bouquet made for Leon is done in layers, each ring getting smaller and smaller until there was but a single flower for the center piece of the entire bouquet.

The outer layer was made up of crimson amaryllis, all outward facing, like the tiny heads of dragons proudly looking outward. And that was the right way to describe them. These flowers represented pride and Leon was the pride of their nation, his own pride. His chosen long ago. His favourite. His Morning Sun.

The next ring had deceptively adorable anemone. Little pinkish flowers that described his waning feelings of pride -- Galar still looked up to him, still called out 'Champion Time', but for Rose, he could not help but feel forsaken -- and in turn wish to forsake this boy he had bet nearly everything on.

Following these were the brightly coloured marigolds, as golden as their names implied, a splash of something summery and bright much like Leon was known to be. And yet, in this arrangement, they spoke of his grief -- they were going to lose so much. Both of them. Didn't he know what path his actions would place the rest of Galar on? All for just a few disagreements?

And in the middle, a blooming, large and prominent yellow carnation. The ultimate decision: rejection. If he would forsake everything Rose had aspired to, then he didn't need Leon anymore.

The smile he gave him as the bouquet was handed over gave away nothing, yet this action said everything.

You should have listened to me, Leon.

the locker room was quiet, eerily so . wherever Allister went, the air seemed to get heavier, the area chillier, and the room filled with unease . this was no different, though Allister felt it should be .

brand-new gym leader Allister’s debut battle was heavily advertised through the region, and the main selling point ? galar’s youngest gym leader . not just currently, but ever . the battle had by all measures gone well . the challenger was skilled and determined to make their mark, but was wholly unprepared for their opponent .

in polite terms, it wasn’t even close . and the crowd had loved it, it seemed . seeing such a young child, barely ten, sweeping the battlefield with ease and skill many adults didn’t have brought more than enough cheers to make the debut memorable .

it was too much .

“ … I - I’m sorry . “ murmured softly . “ mr. champion Leon … you don’t have to stay . I just … “

Allister wasn’t proud of it, but the moment the battle was over, and the moment Rose had concluded further encouraging the crowd to recognize their new gym leader, he’d bolted . and here he was, in the darkest corner of his locker room on the most abandoned bench .

“ i got scared . there were so many people looking at me . everybody was looking at me, weren’t they ? “ the question was followed by the boy shrinking into himself even more .
