Everybody say happy birthday to Luke Garroway!

Our lovely uncle Luke is 51, he was born on the 3rd of January of 1970 in Idris.

He has been portrayed by Aidan Turner in the movie adaptation of City of Bones...

...and then by Isaiah Mustafa in the tv series.

what do you need to know about him?

his real name is Lucian Graymark, but he changed it into Luke Garroway when he cut ties with the Shadowhunter society

“Garroway” is purposely similar to “loup garou”, which means “werewolf” in French

he once was a Shadowhunter, but he was attacked by a werewolf in the Brocelind forest

his favorite weapon was the crossbow

his bestfriend was Jocelyn Fairchild, but he caught feelings for her when they were young

he attended the Shadowhunter Academy

his mother became an Iron Sister named Sister Cleophas when he was little, reason unknown

he had a sister, Amatis, but she died as an Endarkened. he later sold her house but he kept her family ring, which he wears in a necklace

he befriended Valentine Morgenstern, who helped him better his Shadowhunting abilities, and later on they became Parabatai

he was a member of the Circle, but when Valentine sensed that Luke’s loyalty could be less strong he betrayed him and Luke was bitten by a werewolf

despite Valentine’s version, Luke was still alive and he had become the pack leader of the Brocelind pack. one night he tried to get killed by the pack leader, the one who bit him, but he won gaining that pack position instead

Luke and Jocelyn kept in touch even after that accident, allowing them to plan the Uprising

during the Uprising he brought his pack, his true aim was to kill Valentine himself. he didn’t succeed only because Valentine threatened Jocelyn. despite his hatred for Valentine, he still showed up to his funeral in 2007

him and Jocelyn separated short after they fled Idris, Jocelyn wanted to raise her unborn baby alone even though Luke offered his support and presence. he found her only five years after through an art gallery in New York, and then he remained in Jocelyn and Clary’s lives

after deciding to stay in New York he joined a local pack and after years he became the pack leader, one of the most liked

he owned a bookstore in New York, “Garroway Books”, and a farm where him, Jocelyn and Clary would spend the summer

he had a place in the Council, he represented the werewolves

he finally married Jocelyn in 2008

his favorite book is Catch 22

he likes Pixar movies

his usual outfits include flannel shirts and glasses
