You can't be serious! Has it been restocked? Where? If his drink only pleases his American fans. SH's Whisky is not available in European Union countries 🇪🇺 nor Canada 🇨🇦 and its British retailer Master of Malt, does not ship to all EU countries and House of Malt only ships domestically in the UK 💁‍♀️

As a result, this could be viewed as misleading advertising. Well, go for gold or he will go for your gold 🤔 that would have a different meaning.

I am aware of UK retailers like thespiritco.com, who ship products overseas, but only to certain mainland states in the US and certain countries in Europe due to restricted countries. In my previous post, I was referring to SH's misleading advertising on the internet. “The Sassenach” whisky cannot be sold in the EU due to the rejection of its trademark. SH lost its legal battle in the EU for its alcohol business, and it is also not available in Canada.

I am not interested in SH's blended whisky, which has a very feminine palate. There are better quality single malt Scotch whiskies aged for a minimum of 12 years, which are cheaper than SH's blended whisky in the UK, mainly in Scotland. Thank you for your comment 💙

These are some examples of how SH’s whisky is overpriced. It’s a blended scotch, with no reference, to the source of the spirit - (made in Loch Lomond Distillery in Scotland) but there’s no transparency at all, unlike many of the new whisky brands that have launched. The association with 'Outlander' it’s not a recipe for success.

Amazon has started releasing some sellers’ funds back to them after many UK and EU sellers complained of money being held unexpectedly.

The change in policy comes after the BBC reported it led to some sellers’ business being close to collapse.

Amazon told some sellers it will now delay the temporary holds on money until January 2024.

But one ink seller, Daniel Moore, who had £230,000 frozen, said Amazon were only “delaying our anguish”.

Amazon wrote in an email to one seller in the early hours of Saturday: “We understand that the transition to this policy on 3 August has caused a one-time cash-flow issue for your business. To support you in preparing for the policy change, we have extended your policy transition until 31 January 2024”.

Amazon’s initial policy update sent in May stated it would temporarily hold seller funds to cover customer refund demands. It said sellers’ would be able to withdraw their money only from the delivery date plus a further seven days.

The policy was implemented on 3 August across the UK and EU for sellers registered before August 2016.

But its email about the change was not seen by many EU and UK sellers, and in many cases was automatically sent to their junk folder.

The change comes at a time businesses are struggling with the soaring costs of living and increases in energy bills, materials and operating costs.

‘Gobbledegook’

Andy Pycock, 53, from Buckinghamshire, has been selling home, garden and leisure products on Amazon and had £25,000 frozen on 3 August.

He had taken out a loan with Amazon Lending to cover the period of withdrawals being frozen – and paid fees to have it restructured.

But hours later on early Saturday morning, he was told of Amazon’s policy change, meaning his takings were available again.

He said his business had suffered a slowdown as he was unable to afford to restock and fulfil orders during the period his money was frozen.

Andy, who has been selling on Amazon since 2016, said the lack of notification, and last-minute changes from Amazon, has made him question his future involvement with the firm.

He said Amazon’s explanations as to why it will be holding money from established sellers like him sounded like “corporate gobbledegook”.

“This doesn’t make any sense,” Andy told the BBC. “Amazon is toxic as equally as it is brilliant – but we also feel they’re our greatest enemy right now”.

He says he “dreads” looking at his Amazon Seller account due to its various changes and “confusing” implementation of policy.

Amazon said the policy was introduced to align all sellers worldwide on to the same policy.

However, some UK and EU sellers have been told it will be implemented in September, whilst others are now being told it will be implemented in January next year.

One seller on Amazon’s Seller Forums called the situation “shambolic”.

Daniel Moore said that amount of his takings which Amazon had frozen was “disproportionately high versus the potential refunds processed by customer returns or non-delivery”.

Having hundreds of thousands of pounds of his takings frozen meant he was unable to pay his VAT bill on time, or order new stock.

He says he received notification on Saturday saying all of his takings had now been released, but that the pause in income led to issues along his whole supply chain that could take up to two further weeks to resolve.

He said the delay in the implementation of Amazon’s temporary hold policy was “initially good news”, but that “it simply kicks the can down the road to a month where corporation tax and personal tax is due. January is a very difficult month”.

Daniel said the policy “is still unfair” and that established sellers like his firm Ink Jungle posed “no risk” to Amazon.

“If items are being delivered tracked or by FBA what is the risk? It makes no sense to hold onto the funds for so long after delivery”, Daniel added.

FBA, Fulfilled by Amazon, is where sellers keep their stock in Amazon’s warehouse, and Amazon delivers the goods to buyers once sold.

Amazon’s change in policy implementation for affected sellers comes after small business minister Kevin Hollinrake had demanded the tech giant explain how it will “mitigate” the effects of the policy on many sellers, in a letter seen by the BBC.

Seller Mario Katz says he has now had £5,000 released from his frozen funds. He was “happy” that he could now resume withdrawing amounts daily for the day-to-day running of his business.

“But I cannot celebrate, as I cannot trust Amazon.

“I’m still scared about the policy taking effect in January”, he said.

Amazon said the vast majority of its sellers were not affected by the temporary hold implemented on 3 August.

It is not yet clear if those companies will receive compensation for any losses incurred during the period that their withdrawals were frozen.

Amazon has been contacted for comment.

The issues are similar to those faced by Etsy sellers after that marketplace began withholding 75% of sellers’ funds for around 45 days. Hundreds of sellers complained it was undermining their businesses. Etsy reduced the amount it was holding after a BBC report in to the problem.

We're 3 entries in now, and I still forgot to add ToggleSneak to my modlist.

Oh well, I'll just have to deal with not having it for now, hopefully I remember next time.

Anyway, one of the greatwood trees I planted yesterday grew, so I'm going to start off by chopping it down.

I have an iron axe, so it shouldn't take all day this time.

I got around a stack and a half of logs from the tree.

I don't think I'll have to restock on wood very often, but I still don't want to have to do it manually, so I'll try getting into Forestry stuff, with my goal being an arboretum (tree farm).

Forestry adds a few of its own crafting stations that I'll need to get, the first one being a carpenter, which looks like a crafting machine for basic Forestry stuff, though it does require a decent amount of bronze to craft one.

Carpenters require RF power to function, but luckily they also accept FE power from my solar panels, and if I need more than that I can craft an electrical engine (Forestry) which acts as an EU/RF converter, then I can power it with my IC2 generator.

For now I'll just put my Forestry stuff outside by my quarry and hook it directly to my solar panels.

The next crafting station I need is a thermionic fabricator, which looks like it's only used to make various electron tubes (Forestry crafting component), fireproof wood, and as an alternate way to make glass, however it requires 4 gold, and I only have 3 (quarry hasn't found any, but it did find 2 more uranium), so I'm going to have to go mining again.

The mining trip resulted in 26 coal, 33 iron ore, 6 gold ore, 3 stacks plus 23 redstone, 1 rare earths, 16 lead ore, 11 silver ore, 17 electrotine, 5 nickel ore, 1 peridot, and 2 uranium ore.

In order to make an arboretum, I need 2 slimeballs and 2 emeralds for flexible casing (Forestry crafting component), which also looks like its used for other Forestry farms.

Since I don't have slimeballs or emeralds right now, I'm going to take a quick break and make the area in front of my cave look a little nicer, mostly just so I have an excuse to make a bridge over the river right in front of my door.

Now that that's done, here's what the outside of my cave looks like.

The dark tiles outside my door are arcane stone, which is a decorative block from Thaumcraft, I thought it was fitting since I'm using greatwood (also from Thaumcraft) for the bridge.

Greatwood doors and fences don't exist for some reason, though I think I could get away with using dark oak (I think that's what I did in my Thaumcraft world), I just don't have any right now.

The inside of my cave still looks the same, I'm not sure I'll end up remodeling it.

Anyway, this used up most of my wood, so I really need to get an arboretum set up, and I'm also running low on coal, so maybe I should start thinking about other types of generators, like geothermal generators (IC2), which burn lava to generate power, which will be incredibly abundant once I get a nether portal.

Emeralds and slimeballs are the only ingredients I'm missing for an arboretum.

I planted some sugarcane so I can sell paper to the village librarian, but I don't want to use a slime chunk calculator for slimeballs this time, so I'm not entirely sure how I'll get any.

I'm just going to focus on power for now, so I'll craft an iron tank (IC2) to make lava gathering easier, and a geothermal generator to convert lava into power.

A single iron tank can hold 32,000 mB, or 32 buckets, and keeps its inventory when broken, allowing for easy transportation of liquids.

While looking through JEI, I found something called a "slimalyzer" (Openblocks), I'm assuming it lets me find slime chunks without external tools, but it requires a slimeball to craft, so I need to find at least one slime first.

Anyway, I think that's all I'm going to be doing today.

earlier this month I came across a fascinating article about the economic and governmental factors leading to the recent hrt shortage in the UK

some notes worth extracting:

the whole article frames hrt exclusively as a menopause drug, taken by cis women. it gives a statistic that just over 1 million women in the UK take it - though it’s not clear where this statistic comes from, whether it includes trans women taking it, and what proportion we represent if it does.

the population of the UK is about 67 million people, so that hrt-taking figure represents about 1.5% of the population. I don’t have an estimate of the total number of trans people handy to compare with that figure.

a typical case of an HRT supply chain consisted of generic pills produced by the company Mylan, which is international but manufactures most of its products in India, shipping pills to a factory in Northumberland where they were packaged, resulting in a product that’s legally considered to be ‘manufactured’ in the UK. The author of the article was not able to follow the supply chain further due to industrial secrets.

the HRT shortage was caused by a combination of factors:

weakening of the Pound due to the Brexit situation

US trade restrictions on Chinese pharmaceuticals leading to an EU-wide reduction in US imports

and primarily, the NHS drug tariffs (prices the NHS will pay a pharmacy for fulfilling a prescription for a drug, which by design should be higher than what the pharmacy will pay the wholesaler) badly underestimating the HRT prices, so that it was more profitable for drug companies to sell them elsewhere.

I think of this mostly in light of the question, what would it actually take for trans women to take over this process and supply estrogen to those who want it ourselves?

under modern capitalism, it’s very hard to know where and how most things are produced, or who is involved in producing it. through the products I consume to reproduce my existence, I am connected more or less directly to most of the world’s population: the people who make the things and move them to and fro, the people who design what is made, the people who care for those people and provide them the services they need to live, and so on.

all we can apparently figure out about the production of HRT pills is that it takes place somewhere in India or China, by largely unknown means, involving largely unknown people. which is probably what I’d have guessed already.

old-school HRT drugs such as premarin were ‘conjugated equine estrogens’, i.e. PREgnant MARe urINe processed to extract a bundle of various estrogen chemicals and then put in a drug. this has now largely been superseded by pure preparations of (for example) estradiol valerate, which 1. don’t have to involve animals and 2. are much more precise about what goes into the pill and in what quantities.

looking around publically available information, I found that 17beta-estradiol is mostly made by reduction of estrone using metal hydrides. estrone, in turn, is made from sweet potatoes (yams, to Americans), using a series of other chemicals whose names are rather too long to copy out here, not all of which have publicly available manufacturing information.

so how could we make HRT? the most obvious answer would be a centralised route, which would mean building a factory, getting a set of workers together, and essentially competing with the pharmaceutical companies.

this doesn’t seem to improve matters very much. in order to provide its workers with means of subsistence, you would either need to have an entire closed self-sufficient economy that meets their needs, or enough money to pay them so they can go and buy stuff like everyone else. you face all the problems of a workers’ co-op: to continue to exist, the co-op must compete successfully in the market (sell its products to get enough money to reproduce its workers and restock its materials, and then more to grow), which means the workers must apply all the pressures of the market (hiring, firing, keeping pay under control) to themselves. it’s not much better than working for a company, but instead of the company being a cruel, outside force you can push back against, its logic is now something you have to enforce on yourself.

at that point, you might as well just buy estrogen from the pharmaceutical companies who have been in this game for much longer, since you’ll basically become them if you succeed.

what’s the alternative then? to reach a large body of people who want to take estrogen without relying on a pharma company, it would have to entail: a method to produce estrogen that’s

reliable for producing medicines which are safe to administer and effective

using readily available materials, preferably ones which can be made renewably

easy to teach, without specialist knowledge, so it can be passed on

I know my girlfriend @drc4ble, as a student, did a design project attempting to make something along these lines (envisioning the scenario of a supply shortage). her approach was to go the route of premarin, and design a method for isolating estrogens from human piss. (after all, each of us has machinery for producing some amount of estrogen in our body, just not in a way that’s easy to extract and concentrate and feed back in!) this involved some pretty commonly available chemicals and equipment like plastic pipes, but it was more a speculative exercise than something she intended people to start using right then. I don’t recall how far she investigated questions of safety, consistency of dose, etc. I think there was some other site which attempted to gather information on HRT manufacturing, but I’ve lost track.

I feel like I’m missing something though. like, even outside of the pipe dream of trans women around this country/world switching to locally-produced estrogen that doesn’t have to be sourced from the NHS or dodgy online pharmacy sites, there’s a much broader question of how are we going to produce medicine of all kinds After The Revolution(TM)? surely not in some factory in a part of the world where labour is cheap, fed through a vast opaque system of logistics to arrive at a local building in neat little boxes? is the chemistry of medicine manufacturing really so arcane and complex that it cannot be comprehended on an individual level, but it has to exist as institutional knowledge of giant organisations like academia and pharma companies?

if not, how could that knowledge be shared and applied? I suppose you could end up with some sort of more scientifically informed version of traditional herbalism: a widespread, thorough knowledge of the biomedical effects of the local plants and other plants cultivated for medical uses, accessible information sources on same, and most places having some sort of community stock of easy-to-manufacture chemical equipment for processing it? or perhaps some of the old supply chain system is kept for distributing things that really can’t easily be produced without specialist equipment...

but I think I’ve lost track of where I’m going with this at this point, so let’s leave off and go to bed. something to keep chewing on.

First in the list is the MANGO Shoulder Pad T-Shirt.

But I’m still contemplating if I’m going to cop it since it’s kind of pricey for a shirt but I’m also thinking that I’m probably going to abuse using this one if I ever buy it since it’s very basic and versatile.
