"I got my concussion during the second episode of the first season called 'The Enemy Within' where Major Kowalsky throws me against the back of the elevator. They had a shot of my face, so I couldn't use a stunt double and I smacked my head against the back of the elevator and dropped down, so when you actually see Carter drop down to the corner of the elevator slumped into a pathetic little heap, that was really Amanda slumped into a pathetic little heap."

Behind the Scenes - Showtime June 26, 1998
Jack and Kawalsky enjoying their banter while they can - unfortunately for Kawalsky, the role of Jack's best friend will be open very soon.
Daniel drinking coffee in the first 30 seconds!
โYou donโt think the Goaโulds are sending people though, do you?โ Daniel, my love, how do you not think the Goaโuld are sending people through?
I love how immediately ride-or-die Jack is for Tealโc.
Daniel and Sam are giving a briefing on the DHD - Dial Home Device is helpfully written on the whiteboard. Sam also draws the cube with the six points from the movie, and I donโt know why but I find that very cute.
Both Daniel and Sam call the gate room the โembarkation roomโ which will get a callback in season 4.
Daniel drinking coffee again. And gets a shoulder pat from Sam this time!
Jay Avocone gives a great performance as Kawalsky.
The doc in this episode is Warner, whose role is chief surgeon.
Tauโri, Goaโuld generic memory - so much of the lore is laid out in this episode.
Colonel Kennedy suggests allowing the Goaโuld in Kawalsky be set free as a gesture of good faith and everyone is rightly horrified - which just makes it sad that in later seasons the SGC is making deals with them all the time without regard for the host.
Daniel with coffee no. 3 during the operating procedure.
โThatโs right Dorothy, it was all a dreamโ the first Wizard of Oz reference?
RIP Kawalsky - the first, but certainly not the last, movie character to be killed off.
How did they miss the big chunk of Goaโuld in Kawalskyโs brain? Didnโt they do a post-op MRI?
"My friend died on the table." :(
Aw, Sam is being the optimist this time - something of the host must survive because only Kawalsky knew the self destruct code. That really only proves the Goaโuld has access to the hostโs knowledge, but very sweet of Sam to try and cheer Daniel up!
Daniel had one hand constantly in his pocket in this episode, which iirc is an ongoing character choice.
Sam, Daniel, and Teal'c still have helmets, but Jack only has a cap - when your name is above the title, you can refuse to wear a helmet if you think it makes you look goofy!
Something glaringly missing from this episode is any discussion around Tealโc being involved in the abduction and implantation of Shaโre and Skaara - it gets mentioned later in the season, but does Daniel have any misgivings about Tealโc joining the team? Has he asked Tealโc about Shaโre?
Not a single female character other than Sam had a name or spoke in this episode.
