My Favourite Reece Shearsmith Characters
So it's Reece Shearsmith's birthday today, so I decided to celebrate this by sharing some of my favourite characters played by this fantastically talented actor
These are in no particular order
Gregory Brewster - Him Indoors
Tumblr media
Him Indoors is a short film about a serial killer with agoraphobia. Not only is the premise very interesting, Reece delivers a chilling yet very entertaining performance as the main character. It's on YouTube if you want to watch it, which I highly reccomend you do!
Tommy - Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room
Tumblr media
This HAD to be on the list! Reece's performance as Tommy is heartbreaking, we watch a man seems to put-together and serious slowly fall apart and lose control of his calm façade - impeccable work
Sean Stone - Chasing Shadows
Tumblr media
Admittedly, I don't know where the watch the full show, but I have seen clips and I knew I had to put it on this list because of Reece's portrayal of an autistic person. You can tell he put a lot of thought and research into it in order to give a realistic performance, which is a testament to his dedication and how much he truly cares about the roles he plays and who he's representing
Tyler - Riddle Of The Sphinx SPOILERS BELOW
Tumblr media
If there's one thing Reece is good at, it's how to play a chilling villain. Everything about Tyler is unnerving and he manages to be terrifying without being loud or angry all the time. It's measured and the emotion builds and builds - fantastic work!
Joseph Lisgoe - The League Of Gentlemen
Tumblr media
I've mentioned before that the debt collectors were underused, and I simply had to talk about how extraordinary Reece's performance as Lisgoe was. He completely dives into the roles he plays and this one was no exception, not even a light smashing on his closest friend stops him from carrying on a scene (just check out the outtakes!), he simply embodies the part and delivers a performance that terrifies the cast, crew and the audience
Laurence - Merrily Merrily SPOILERS BELOW
Tumblr media
Merrily Merrily is an Inside No. 9 episode that I can never rewatched because of how empty it made me feel - and I mean that in the best way possible! Laurence is wracked with pain over the loss of his late partner, and Reece delivers such a subtle yet haunting performance that I don't think I'll ever stop thinking about it
Ross Gaines - The League of Gentlemen
Tumblr media
Ross is such a fun character because of how manipulative, calculating and cold he is. Not only does it set him apart from the other inhabitants of Royston Vasey, it makes his scenes with Pauline all the more tense and entertaining - and Reece really does deliver in the role. I'm glad they decided to go with this casting choice
Aiden - Thinking Out Loud
Tumblr media
Like with Laurence, Reece delivers a hauntingly stellar performance. What makes this one really special is that it's a monologue. There's nobody for him to bounce off of or react to, he has to reach those emotions himself. And, as always, he nails it
Ollie Plimsolls - The League Of Gentlemen
Tumblr media
I've said before that I think Ollie is one of the most cleverly written League characters and I stand by that. As a representation of the Saviour Complex and self-righteousness of people in theatre, Ollie is a character that should be easy to hate... but because of Reece's expert comedic timing and delivery, he ends up being so funny that you can't help but laugh every time he's onscreen
SPECIAL MENTION: Gilbert - Betty Blue Eyes
Tumblr media
Reece Shearsmith said in an interview that he wasn't a great singer. Reece Shearsmith is a liar. Don't believe me? Listen to The Kind Of Man I Am from Betty Blue Eyes and thank me later
Also, if you can find it, there's a short bootleg of him in The Producers which is good too!
Of course, this are just a few of his performances and he's never delivered a bad one - whether he's playing a comedic character like Archie in The Bill or a more serious one like in Borley Rectory. And we haven't even touched on his writing skills, I can't wait to see what he does next!

Intoxication - Gainesgoe (Ross Gaines X Joseph Lisgoe)
“How much did you say?”
“Two grand. Two fucking bricks!"
Upon these words, Ross’ glance averted to the three gambling machines shamefully stuck in the corner of the pub. It was easy to tell that the owner wasn’t proud of the purchase. The idea that someone in that meaningless little town would actually want that amount of money (knowing they could never pay it off ; the jobs in Royston Vasey could never suffice) baffled him. Ross pitied the man, but simultaneously, he commended him for having the courage to request that amount from Lisgoe.
The two had crossed paths a few days ago, with thanks to the small sum of money Ross had owed Lisgoe ; Ross was austere and logical, he knew how to handle money, but living in Royston Vasey, you’re bound to owe a debt or two at any given point. And if you weren’t paid a visit by his two incompetent henchmen, you would be visited by Mr Lisgoe himself. And he was much less forgiving than them.
So why was Ross sitting next to him in the pub, surrounded by several empty glasses and an anxious waiter constantly waiting to pour their next drink?
Matter of fact, Lisgoe wondered that as well. Almost every encounter he had with people who wouldn’t cough up on time didn’t end on such a positive note. There must have been something about the brunette man that made him grow a fondness towards him.
Perhaps it was his indifferent nature. Or his abrasiveness upon being demanded so harshly, while others would have probably shit themselves.
The debt collector blamed these uncouth thoughts on his inebriation.
“Do you want me to pay? I wouldn’t mind.”
Ross’ offer was quickly overshadowed by Lisgoe silencing him. “Nah. No need. Poor bastard can’t repay the debt with cash only, so-”
“So you’re taking drinks for free.”
“Shut up! I’m fucking getting there.”
Lisgoe took another sip of the bitter absinthe spirit, wiping away any careless alcohol that beaded at the corners of his mouth. “That skittish cunt almost dragged us down with him, with how much he owed me. This ain’t stealing, Ross. This is the price.”
Ross felt no need to question him further. He was smart enough to understand the other’s logic, but also read his drunken, antsy mood. “Fair enough.”
A brief silence.
“If I knew I could get free drinks from it, I would have become indebted to you a long time ago.”
Lisgoe processed the joke and chuckled hoarsely, running his thumb across the rim of the glass. “Yeah, well, don’t get too cosy. This was just by chance.”
“That so?”
“Mmh.” His confirmation was muffled by another sip. From their conversation, Ross had concluded that this was most definitely not going to be the only time they crossed paths. The mutual feeling of interest was too strong for them to just turn round and not see each other again. And it was definitely not the first time, either ; their prior encounter was rocky. A lot of demanding and shouting ensued from Lisgoe alone. But something must have clearly triggered for the two of them to end up sitting on Ross’ sofa, watching Dexter for what felt like a very fast hour.
Lisgoe wasn’t a shit debt collector. He was just shit with Ross.
“You really confuse me, Ross Gaines.”
“I’m aware.”
-------------------------------
The streets of Royston Vasey that night were weirdly bleak.
The occasional lamppost would emit a luminescent glow onto the quiet shops, and (on the off chance that one would appear) no car would dare sputter its engine and interrupt the tranquillity of 1 in the morning. Would anything dare to do such a thing?
Ross and Lisgoe, apparently.
The two faces, beyond inebriated at that point, stumbled from the doors, catching each other before either took a fall to the pavement.
“Fucking ‘ell,”
The useful input from the debt collector rang through the street, as a pale hand ran through his slicked, black hair. With enough hairspray, it remained intact. The wind was less forgiving on Ross’ hair, however. But somehow, it still looked fine, perhaps even better, if Lisgoe could daresay.
“Can’t drive back like this.”
“Why not?”
“Maybe because it’d be illegal.”
“Prissy prick."
“Can’t drive n’nyway. We walked here,” Ross would look about, using Lisgoe’s frame to prevent himself from coming face to face with the pavement. “Barbara’s prolly asleep b’now, as well.”
“Bah. We can walk.”
“Hardly.”
Regardless, they’d try their best to brave the awkward, drunken walk back to their houses. The two would share a sporadic conversation every now and then, but for the most part, they just listened to a deafening silence. The cool breeze complimented the burning intoxication in their throats whilst the wind would numb every speck of exposed skin. It was safe to say that it had been a long time since either of them had experienced such a cold comfort, as the silence indicated that they were revelling in it for as long as they could.
“Joseph.”
Ross looked back up wearily. “Pardon?”
“‘S m’name. Joseph.”
In that moment, Ross was taken aback by the sudden vulnerability being displayed by the hard shell of a man. But it didn’t taint the conversation. Not one bit. “Then I must say, ‘s been good to meetchoo, Joseph.”
Ross’ drunken unintelligibility drew out a raspy laugh from Joseph, who sighed with surprising content as the atmosphere returned to the comfortable silence. Minutes passed, before they stood before the apartment building belonging to the brunette.
“I’m gonnuh’ b’fucking shattered,” Lisgoe managed to spit out groggily, eyeing the complex behind them briefly. Ross pondered for a moment ; he had no idea whether it was the alcohol talking, but regardless, the next thought he had escaped his lips.
“You cuhn’ stay f’the night. On the sofa. F’you’d like.”
“Course not, fucking Mother Teresa.”
Ah.
For the first time that night, he must have misread him.
Rather than feeling embarrassed, he instead felt an appreciation for his erratic nature. A feeling which completely clouded his intoxicated mind.
As Lisgoe began to trudge off, the brunette spoke up again.
“This wonh’ be our lass encounter. Y’know that, don’ you?”
He stopped for a moment and glanced back with a mere shrug. “S’ppose yer right.”
They were both drunk. Equally drunk. But there was a tang to his response that felt very much genuine, as much as sober Lisgoe would have hated it.
No goodbyes were shared. No farewells were bid. But perhaps it was because it just wasn’t necessary.
It felt… good. For a change.
Ross exhaled deeply, as if he had forgotten to breathe for a moment, before withdrawing into the apartment.

Hey, your fics are honestly so well-written, I don't usually read "x reader" but I do frequently branch out to genres I'm not familiar with and I really like your writing style
I saw on your pinned post that you take requests and I have an odd one. Recently, I've become lowkey obsessed with the idea of Ross Gaines x Joseph Lisgoe and was wondering if you'd ever be willing to write a fic about them? I'll be honest, I have no idea how specific you like requests to be, but I'm giving you free reign to take it in any direction you see fit. If you're up for it, then thank you so much! If not, then fair enough and I wish you good luck for your future stories 😄
thank you for your kind words!! i want to give this a go for you (so sorry for the delay in responding), but to be 100% honest, i'm not entirely sure i'll give your vision much justice! i'm very used to writing 'x reader' and i have never actually written 2 character ships before...
because of this, i've decided to do a short drabble style so that i don't have to delve into too much specific detail for a story line, and risk messing up lmao. i really hope this is okay, let me know what you think and hopefully i might be able to branch out into more similar subjects in the future :)
p.s. my blog is starting to look like a ross fan account at this point... and I'm not mad about it lolll.

Opposites Attract - Joseph Lisgoe x Ross Gaines
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[not proof read]
his slicked back hair, narrowed eyes, and angry demeanor did nothing to intimidate ross. "i'm telling you, you've got the wrong house. i don't owe anybody anything." ross' tone remained calm and collected, which only seemed to agitate lisgoe even further.
"oh, yeah?" he drew closer to ross, forcing himself further into the doorway. "then how come your address is the one printed on the fucking paper slip?" lisgoe shoved the paper that he was holding to force it against ross' chest, encouraging him to hold it himself and read it. ross lifted the paper and glanced at it nonchalantly, before looking back at the angered man with a shrug of his shoulders.
"i really don't know. i'm sorry that i can't help you" ross said politely, stepping slightly backwards to close the front door between the pair of them.
"don't you dare even think about shutting this fucking door on me." joseph moved his foot into the door frame to act as a door stop, causing it to be left half-open.
with an excessive exhale of air, ross re-opened the door and stared questionably at the man before him. "what do you actually want from me?"
"I've only told you about fifty times, i want the money you owe me! i'm not leaving here until i get it."
ironically, he did end up leaving empty-handed, having realised that ross was perhaps just as stubborn as himself. joseph lay in bed that night, thoughts racing about the strange encounter he'd had that day. ross. why was he so... different? he had been so relaxed the whole time that lisgoe was shouting in his face. joseph's terrible anger and extreme persistence is the only thing he had to use in his power against people. it was the only strength he ever needed. so why was ross so unphased? it infuriated him...
the next day, lisgoe wandered the streets with barry and glen, ready to tackle the next set of debt-avoiders. joseph stood still in his tracks as a familiar face walked towards him down the street. "well if it isn't mr. gaines! we were gonna be paying you another visit later today" joseph spat, sarcasm lacing heavily in his voice.
"i'm not entirely sure why. you'd be wasting your time, to be honest." there it was. that calm voice that joseph hated so much. ross was supposed to be scared of him, what was he doing wrong?
"oh, you know exactly why." he gritted his teeth. "your name is on that paper, you owe us money and that is that!"
"have you perhaps taken this up with your little minions?" ross gestured towards the two cowardly men stood behind lisgoe, who were not helping the situation at all. "clearly somebody has made a mistake here. i've never even heard of you in my life, mr. lisgoe, i certainly don't owe you any money." ross' tone was more sarcastic this time, especially on the emphasis of joseph's name, which only caused chills to travel over his skin.
before he could even respond, ross had walked past them and continued down the street, swinging his briefcase happily as he went. shock and bewilderment momentarily lingered on joseph's face as he watched the man leave, before his eyes landed on his two useless workers, quickly resorting to his usual stern expression.
"he seems pretty certain he doesn't owe anyth-" barry began, before being silenced by lisgoe's rough hand that grabbed onto the back of his neck and forced him to walk forward, continuing their journey in silence.
---
it was late evening and lisgoe lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to relax with a mind racing yet again over his impenetrable client. before long, he gave in and jumped up, pulling on his jacket and rushing out of the door.
ross sat alone, reading a book contently on his couch, before a buzz from the intercom interrupted his quiet evening.
"hello?" he answered, waiting to find out who was at the door. "it's lisgoe. let me in."
ross chuckled slightly, "why would i do that?"
"because i fucking said so." he was stern. not in a mood to be messed around with. and ross seemed to realise that.
the main door buzzed open and joseph raced to ross' apartment number, suddenly coming to a halt as he came eye to eye with ross who stood leaning smugly against the doorframe. "are we still not done here?" he said slyly, watching lisgoe's face as it washed over with anger.
"what is the matter with you, gaines? why aren't you intimidated by me?" his brows were furrowed and his fists were balled so tightly that his knuckles turned a pale white.
"why would i be intimidated by you?" he seemed genuinely confused. "i know that i don't owe you any money, so there's nothing to be afraid of." he smiled slightly, which made joseph's blood boil.
"you listen here," he inched up to ross, backing him into the door and staring deep into his eyes, his voice now so low and close to a whisper. "i spoke with my idiot coworkers, they did make a mistake and it turns out you're not in my debt. you should consider yourself extremely luck-"
"you came all the way here to tell me that?" ross interrupted, maintaining deep eye contact with the man who stood so close to him that he could feel his breath on his face.
"no!" lisgoe spat, grabbing ross' shoulders and pushing them into the door he was leaning against, frustration flowing through his veins. "i came here to make you aware of who you could've been dealing with. and who you just might be dealing with one day if you're not careful. i am one of the most powerful people in vasey, and i don't think you're taking this seriously enough."
ross breathed yet another sarcastic chuckle, still completely unphased by the insecure debt-collector. "why are you so annoyed that i'm not scared of you?"
lisgoe's grip on his shoulders loosened, dropping his hands to his sides. he took a step back and swallowed deeply, trying to process his question.
"i- i'm not." he stuttered, lying through his teeth. of course he was annoyed. he just couldn't understand why his usual scary behaviour didn't have the same affect on ross as it did with everyone else. he was intrigued, more than anything. ross was uninterested, which made him... irresistible, in a way. lisgoe wanted to make him interested.
"something wrong, lisgoe?" ross questioned, tilting his head and looking at the man with raised eyebrows.
"wipe that smug look off your face before i cut it off" he grumbled, revealing his small pocket-knife that he held in his blazer.
"okay. i just have one question for you," gaines began. "if you know i don't owe you money, and you're not annoyed at me, why are you stood here after-dark pointing a knife at me?"
"you just don't get it... do ya?" lisgoe sniggered, tucking the blade back into his pocket. "i thought you were supposed to be smart."
"well, no. i don't get it!" ross' voice raised slightly. "however i'd still say i'm smarter than you..." he mumbled.
"watch ya fuckin' mouth" joseph grimaced through gritted teeth. his eyes trailed over ross, flicking up and down before landing back on his face, making eye contact.
a heavy silence fell over the two of them, the atmosphere tense. ross swallowed hard as they stared at one another. "what...?" he almost stuttered, unable to read lisgoe's expression. the first time he ever let his guard down in front of lisgoe.
joseph approached him once again, closing the gap between them, breath hot on his face.
"you're so hard to read, gaines. like a closed book." he whispered, his words so quiet for only ross to hear. "...can you open yourself up to me?"
---
a/n: welllll there it is. wasn't really sure how to end it so it's kinda weak and rushed. like i say i'm inexperienced with character ships, but i enjoyed writing that (eventhough it was only short.)
there might be a part 2? if i can come up with any ideas or if you want to suggest anything for me!

i need a ross/lisgoe fic where they’ve each had genuinely such awful days that their tough façades even with each other completely crumble e.g, ross goes in for an actual hug from lisgoe (bonus points if he cries), lisgoe rests his head in ross’ lap whilst ross plays with his hair n although each of them are caught of guard by it neither question whats happening n roll with it n never speak of it again after. just ross and lisgoe being soft like non ross/lisgoe couples are i know they’re both secret softies at heart

Pretty (a Ross Gaines x Joseph Lisgoe fanfic)
So, you managed to find this one? Congrats, you beat Tumblr and its desire to hide Gainsgoe smut from everyone!
OK but fr, this was an interesting one because not only does it show a... *ahem* different side to Lisgoe, but it's my first fic that's entirely from Ross' POV, which was fun to write for (EDIT: The second part is incorrect, Past!Me, you've written from Ross' POV before)
For those wondering, I will try and get through the rest of the moodboard recs - I haven't forgotten!
WARNING: Mature content
One thing Ross learned pretty quickly about Lisgoe was that he sometimes communicated without talking. For the most part, he was a very blunt and forward person that didn't mince his words. However, there were moments where he'd feel ashamed or embarrassed by his own thoughts, and that's when his body language and face would betray him
It would happen on the when he came home with injuries that were ailing him more than he wanted to admit
Or when he tried to hide his exhaustion from his eyes, which never worked despite how much he tried
And then there was the time he came home from work in a rage unlike anything Ross had seen before. It was the kind of silent rage that settled in his jaw and shoulders
Well, there wasn't much time to draw any sort of conclusions. Once Lisgoe was inside, Ross felt his back slamming against the door and his mouth being caught in a kiss that knocked half the air out of him. As he tried to keep up with the franticness of it, things started to click together in his head
"So," he puffed as he pulled away "who was it this time?"
"Scuse me?"
"Come on, I'm not stupid. Which one of them annoyed you today? Barry, Glenn or your boss?"
"Fucking all of them." Came the hoarse reply "It's like they have a game of who can make me shoot myself first."
Ross noticed something... not odd, but interesting, about Lisgoe's demanour. The anger didn't surprise him at all, but he lacked aggression. Sure, his back was throbbing after being thrown against the door, but there was little else after that
But those eyes were saying something, Lisgoe needed something from him. The way they flicked up and down his body was making that part clear, but there was something else he wasn't saying
Something he was asking for that lurked deep below the surface
It didn't take long for them to reach their room and the door was slammed shut behind them
Despite what he wanted, Ross fought against himself and stood facing Lisgoe was a neutral expression. Watching, waiting to see what he would do. There was something there, he could see it, a rare glimmer of something
Joseph Nigel Lisgoe was hesitating
It was a strange thing, seeing that tense jaw and those flicking eyes creating a sense of uncertainty that Ross had never seen before, though he could tell he was trying to hide it
Once again, Ross felt himself being pulled into another kiss. This time, it was slower. Sure enough, there was the sound of someone's back against the door
Ross didn't feel the press of it
When he pulled away to check his theory, he found that he was correct: Lisgoe had himself pinned to the door. As odd as this was, Ross was yanked in again. The kiss gained momentum, a little more aggression, exposing Lisgoe's frustration
Why is he getting annoyed? What am I meant to-
Ross' thought was interrupted when he felt his wrist being taken and his hand being lead up Lisgoe's chest. Without breaking the kiss, Ross paid attention to where this was going
Up the chest, brushing against his collarbone - damn that collarbone and everything it made Ross feel - until his hand was place against Lisgoe's throat
Oh right...
Then the slow realization hit
... Oh god
He pulled away for air, resting his head against Lisgoe's and studying his demeanour. Surely Lisgoe wasn't... no, he was too proud for that
But then he saw his face. Eyes closed, ragged breath pushing through parted lips. It was like he was putting all his strength into keeping his cool. Their eyes met and Lisgoe's gaze was pointed and slightly secretive, but the way his hands grabbed at Ross' hips sent sharp chills down his spine
Deciding to test the waters, Ross leaned closer and brushed his lips against Lisgoe's and the breathy sound it drew out rippled through him. As he peppered kisses along his jaw and neck, he could feel Lisgoe losing his tension, he was biting down hard on his lower lip - Ross knew why. Making a sound meant giving away control completely, and he knew Lisgoe wasn't about to do that
Perfect. He smirked against Lisgoe's throat a challenge
"I didn't realise you had it in you."
"What does that even mean?" Lisgoe's voice was steadier now, though there was a hint of something else there
"I'm just saying, I've never seen you like this. You're so... pretty."
"Fuck off." He snapped, his eyes burning a hole through Ross "Fuck. Right. Off."
"For somebody practically pleading for me to take control of him, you're getting quite mouthy."
Ross was very pleased to see the rapid blinking of Lisgoe's eyes
"Pleading? Do you hear me pleading? Name me one moment where I pleaded for shite!"
With a smug smile, Ross swiftly undid Lisgoe's blazer and let it drop to the floor as he yanked him in by the collar of his shirt. A sharp, shaky inhale escaped his mouth and Ross took a sick delight in it
"You're pleading right now." He explained calmly "Words are pointless, your body betrays you."
"Keep the poetic shite out of your mouth."
"Jealous?"
Lisgoe sneered and looked away, which caused Ross to click his fingers in front of his face. This was effectively stopped by a grab to his wrist, though it did get him to look in his direction
"Don't fucking click at me."
"Be nice, Joseph."
This was rewarded with Lisgoe shoving Ross backwards before lying down on their bed. He closed his eyes for a few seconds before, realising he wasn't getting any rest now, snapping them open again
"I don't plead and I don't beg."
"Those words mean the exact same thing."
"Shut up, you know what I mean. I've had it shite at work, I don't need to come home and deal with this."
It was at that moment Ross knew what to do. He stood beside the bed with an innocent expression
"Fine, have it your way. I've found it's unwise to argue with someone that can so easily overpower me."
"Where is this going?"
"I'm just saying-"
"Bullshit! You're randomly being nice, what's happening?"
"I was just going to offer you a chance to prove your point."
With that, Ross shifted on top. Taking his time as he straddled Lisgoe's hips, taking his wrists and pinning them down onto the pillow
There was nothing more satisfying than the look on his partner's face. Such a hard gaze, but the way his pupils dilated and his breathing stuttered was enough to give him away
"What the fuck-"
"Push me away." Ross spoke it like an instruction, cold and demanding "If you really don't want me to have you like this, push me away."
Lisgoe glared stonily at him in an act of defiance, which only made Ross more certain he was getting to him
"You have the strength." He slowly undid the buttons of Lisgoe's shirt, watching his breathing become heavier through gritted teeth "If you really don't want me to have control over you, then change things."
"Fuck sake, Ross."
There's was something in the way he spoke that felt like there was a break he was trying to hide. A want he was keeping deep down in his stomach. He ran a warm hand up Lisgoe chest, settling it around his throat
"That's where you wanted me to hold you, wasn't it?"
Ross watched as Lisgoe closed his eyes, leaning his head back with a breathy groan. His whole body melted into the bed and his eyes opened up to the ceiling, as if he were trying to snap himself out it
And damn it, Ross wanted the image burned into his brain forever
They both knew what they wanted. But Ross wasn't one to deal with "maybes". If Lisgoe wanted something, he was going to have to use his words. But he also knew that asking him wasn't going to do much, so he took his hand off his neck and moved his lips along his neck and collarbone. Taking the opportunity to leave his mark wherever he could, Lisgoe's hand gripped tightly to the back of Ross' head, his other hand digging its nails into his back. By the time he'd sat up to admire his work, Lisgoe's upper body was decorated in red, purple and pale pink. He watched as Lisgoe tried to catch his breath, head lolling to the side as he attempted to keep his heavy breaths quiet. He pursed his lips in an attempt to conceal gentle sounds which seemed to claw up from his stomach
"You really are-"
"Call me pretty again and I'll knock your teeth out."
"For somebody that's currently clinging to me, panting like a dog, you haven't lost you bark."
Lisgoe yanked his hands away like they were burning. He shut his eyes again for a few seconds, his jaw growing tense
"Ross." His voice came out surprisingly level, despite the slight rasp in his throat "You might be enjoying this, but I'm... just stop the teasing shite, OK?"
The silence was heavy around them
"What are you staring at?"
Ross loved how gravelly Lisgoe's voice sounded in that moment
"Can I not enjoy looking for a few seconds?"
"Fucking sap."
"If only you could see yourself," he kissed down Lisgoe's stomach, nipping occasionally at his skin "it's-"
"Mph, shut up." He retorted in a harsh mutter. One hand gripped the back of Ross' head again and yanked him by the hair into a rough, biting kiss. It was very clear that he'd had enough of waiting
"Don't be rude." Ross snipped "Or you can sort yourself out."
For a moment, as he felt himself being pulled back into the kiss, he thought Lisgoe wasn't listening. Then, he felt an unstable exhale against his lips:
"Ross."
He'd never heard Lisgoe speak so softly
"... Please."
The shock froze Ross a little. Everything from what was just said to the way it was spoken rendered him slightly speechless
"Come on, I said please."
Ross felt a mesh of conflicting sensations. Light and grounded, dizzy and level-headed, high as a kite and completely sober. The feeling of control combining with the way his partner, who was usually so assertive, was reduced to something so desperate was making him feel something between euphoria and delirium
As he started to unloop Lisgoe's belt, he mumbled something under his breath before he could stop himself:
"I've never seen you look so pretty."
He didn't realise it was audible until he heard Lisgoe mutter:
"Fucking bastard!"
Some things never change

Joseph Lisgoe is a dangerous bad boy which is hot af, but it’s the belt beating that really does it for me.
Plus I love the fact that Steve was not looking forward to that scene because Reece gets so into the part🥴🥴🥴
