More obscure muses ( Introduction ) series.
Fandom: Skip Beat.
Muse #2- Ren Tsuruga / Kuon Hizuri
Tumblr media
Age 20-22 ( manga and anime )
Ren Tsuruga, real name Kuon Hizuri, is an actor working for the entertainment company, LME. He is currently ranked Japan's most desirable man. Ren is a very strong-willed person. He can be childish and short-tempered when his real personality slips out. Ren is a people-pleaser and often hides his true feelings behind his "gentleman smile", which works most of the time. He is labeled by many as "The Co-star killer" for his ability to make his leading ladies fall in-love with him. He is also a model for a clothing line called R'Mandy.
Ren is very serious about his work, and will not act seriously with nor respect anyone who does not take pride in acting. Hence, he disliked Kyoko Mogami at first, because her motives for joining showbiz were "impure," as Kyoko herself puts it. Both Yukihito Yashiro and Lory Takarada noted that most of his past relationships were shallow. Lory points out that Ren has never really fallen in love before. Ren routinely skips or opts for convenient meals and is regularly chastised by Kyoko for his poor habits.
Ren works hard to maintain his "gentlemanly" image, so he does not let his temper get the best of him when Sho Fuwa knocks over an ash tray in front of him, nor ask for help when he doesn't understand lines because he is not a native Japanese speaker. It is also shown that Ren acts indifferent and calm when extremely happy. In times of extreme anger, he has been known to excuse himself from the room to collect himself.
It is later revealed that Tsuruga Ren is a mask for Kuon Hizuri. Ren is deeply disturbed when Kuon breaks free on the set of Tragic Marker. So far, Kyoko is the only one able to break him out of this state with her voice or actions. Lory is aware of this side of Ren and warns Kyoko of it without directly telling her about it. Yashiro also knows nothing of this personality, though he suspects Ren had a past that is different to his current facade.
Although Ren dislikes and even fears Kuon, his true personality is not entirely bad. He drops his Ren facade in Guam and interacts with Kyoko as his true self for a full afternoon. She instantly recognizes him as "the fairy prince" she met as a child. And the two of them reconnect, as if no time has passed. As Kuon, Kyoko is less guarded around him. Because Kyoko is so open with Kuon, Ren finds himself wishing on one occasion that he had not dyed his hair back to brown.
The public knows nothing about Ren's past and background. Only his parents and Lory Takarada know about his real background. Ren is revealed to be Corn, a 10-year old boy Kyoko Mogami met when she was six years old. Ren told Bo the Chicken ( in which Kyoko is actually inside the suit ) that he used to get fired all the time when he was starting in showbiz.
In truth, Ren's real name is Kuon Hizuri. He is the son of Kuu Hizuri and Juliena Hizuri, who are popular personas in showbiz in America. He was raised in America up to the age of 15. Kuon always lived in the shadow of his father's greatness. He tried to break into the show-biz world, only to suffer many rejections. Because of this, a darker side took over Kuon and he grew distant from his parents.
Flashbacks from his teenage years imply a violent past such as acting in gangs and getting into fights. Lory brought Kuon back to Japan when he was fifteen. It was then that he adopted the stage name "Ren Tsuruga" and went on to become the most popular male actor in Japan. Kuon has a Russian, American and Japanese mix heritage, which explains why he can speak Japanese, English and Russian fluently.

Major News! Part Two Electric Boogaloo!
Hello fellow Skip Beat fans!!! It’s been a while since I posted any Skip Beat content but after reading the latest chapter I had news I had to share!
In my last post I detailed the significance of the appearance of this character,
Tumblr media
Cedrick D. Bennet, into the story.
Well, another star player has arrived and I had to share my theory!
DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS!!!!!
Okay, now that we got the warnings out of way, let's move on to the theory!
This theory, as stated above, is once again a theory about the significance of a newly introduced character. Also, as with the other theory I posted, this isn’t exactly “my” theory. Other fans suggested it first, I just wanted to compile evidence and share it since it is a theory I strongly agree with.
Chapter 287
We see Kyoko waiting for Moko-chan to arrive for their date at Dayjowey land (the two day passes were Ren’s white day gift). While waiting, Kyoko comes across this tall drink of water.
Tumblr media
Initially she thinks this is Director Ogata, the princess-like man who directed Dark Moon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, we soon find out that’s not the case in the next chapter.
Chapter 288
The man Kyoko met is actually Date Hirotaka, Director Ogata’s father!!!...
Date Hirotaka:
Tumblr media
While they’re taking, Direct Hirotaka asks Kyoko and Moko-chan for a favor. He asks if they would be willing to let his acquaintance join the two of them. Who is the director’s acquaintance?
Tumblr media
And thus, we our introduced to the star of this theory. Sarah Smith, or should I say...
Juliena Hizuri!!!!
That’s right, the theory is that Sarah Smith is actually Ren’s mother in disguise!
The reasons I feel this theory has credibility are as follows
1: Appearance
So, the only glimpses we have seen of Juliena were in chapter 114.
Tumblr media
All are brief with her face hidden, not to mention they’re fuzzy due to the scan quality. Regardless, there are similarities, most notably the long wavy hair. True, Juliena’s hair is shinier, but if the theory is correct she is in disguise so it wouldn’t be odd for there to a few differences. Plus, due to Covid the art in recent chapters has been less detailed since the author has been lacking in assistants. (no shade at the author, THRILLED we are still getting chapters!!!❤️)
2: Her eating habits
If there is one thing we know about Kuu Hizuri, it’s that the man has a big appetite! So, it wouldn’t be surprising if the same was true for his wife. After all, Kuu said family meals were important to her (chapter 112). Now, let’s look at Sarah’s eating habits.
Chapter 289
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 290
Tumblr media
Yyyyyyep, that checks out! So much so that even Kyoko notes the similarities!
Chapter 289
Tumblr media
3: Sarah’s reaction
In the latest release, chapter 290, we see the continuation of the Dayjowey trip. We also see that Ren has entrusted Kyoko with a mission of the upmost importance!
Tumblr media
Needless to say, Kyoko is overwhelmed by the request but determined to do her best. With some advice from Sarah they scout locations and once Kyoko spots one of the parks rare princess they are able to complete the mission!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the photos, Sarah’s asks Kyoko who she is sending the pictures to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kyoko notes the sad tone in Sarah’s voice. If the theory is true, I believe this could be for one of two reasons.
She is thinks Kyoko is talking about Ren and is sad to see her son has already grown up and found love without her to see it. She thinks Kyoko is talking about someone who isn’t Ren and, after everything she about Kyoko from Kuu, is sad because she was hoping for Ren and Kyoko to be together.
And my final reason for supporting this theory,
4: Ren’s reaction
chapter 290
Tumblr media
Honestly, I feel like the picture speaks for itself😂. Ren’s face just screams, “WHAT IS MY MOM DOING THERE!?!?!”
These are all the reasons I believe that Sarah Smith is in fact Juliena Hizuri! I have seen some people who argue that Sarah is actually Tina in disguise (see previous post for info about Tina). However, I doubt this for two reasons.
Sarah and Tina, in my opinion, don’t look that similar (granted, Sarah is disguised so this may be a moot point).
Tina was involved in the most traumatic experience of Ren’s life. His reaction to the photo seems a little too comical if this was Tina, especially considered how berserk we’ve seen him go in the past when remembering anything remotely tied to Rick.

Chapter 291 is out guys, go go go~~~
Tumblr media
Sarah is juliena guys haha and ren seems ok with the prospect of his mother n kyouko-chan spending the day together, well im not sure if he's acting in front of yashiro or not but he seemed pretty chill after the initial shock
Tumblr media
Lory on the other hand is sweating buckets compared to ren. How did julie escape kuu anyway? Where the heck is he in all of this?
Tumblr media
It seems that kanae-chan n ren are going work together in this "route" project and im assuming the prince guy is cedric. Ren is probably going to have a hard time on set with that guy around, too bad kyouko-chan isnt in this project. I wonder how kyouko-chan is going to react though 🤔
Ps/ owh, i just remember something, didnt uncle tiger said that he's looking to find projects for ren so that he can work with kuon? I wonder if he's the director for this route project? Or maybe he's the producer? 🧐

So the new chapter is finally here. And yet I’m dying to see the next one already 😅
It’s the following day and we see Juliena talking with director Date in a café. Apparently something happened that changed her decision, because now she will wait for Kuon to come back on his own as promised.
Apparently Juliena knows about Kuon’s penchant for getting dumped by girls before. Director Date’s reaction to her talking about Kuon here is hilarious 😆
Tumblr media
Somehow she understands that Kuon has changed, unlike the him in the past. I think we might have a flashback later? Maybe she caught wind of something while hanging out with Kyoko and Kanae? Something that is related to his eating habit perhaps?🤞
Tumblr media
The later half of the chapter is about Kuon meeting the director of Route as Tsuruga Ren. A secret audition? I wonder what role it’s for, but it’s got a lot to do with his fighting skill because that’s what we see here. The lack of script reminds me of Gal Gadot’s audition for Wonder Woman.
Anyway, the story has been progressing at a snail’s pace lately. There are lots of hints but not much has been revealed. At this stage I think it might be 10 years or more until things are wrapped up.

(Skip Beat ch 291 spoilers)
Okay another detail that is kind of surprising is that julie is also a fairytale fanatic like Kyoko.
Tumblr media
It's kind of nice that they would get along but was it really necessary? But that also explains how that whole concept of 'Corn' come into place.
Julie filled Koun mind with all those fairytales and when he met kyoko, he was easily able to come up with a pseudo story because of Julie. And Kyoko is a japanese like Kuon's father, so it seems like fate that they had to meet and get together if you dig deep into it.
I am not saying it's a bad thing that Julie also likes fairytales but Kyoko's truly believes fairies/magic are real and I don't think I would be able to take it if there is another person like that in the series.

Kuu: Julie, actually, in Japan, I have made another ‘son’.
Julie: Really? She seems amazing, that child. Even though she’s a girl, she does seem as another Kuon. One day, I want to meet her as well.
Kuu: I’m sure you will. I told her she could come and play anytime.
Julie: I’m looking forward to that.

A Dreamer on Drugs 2: Skip Beat [Chapter 292]
Summary for skip beat 292 since the manga translation hasnt come out yet
The most shocking info from this chapter is that director Date knows who Ren really is 😮. Apparently, the hizuris couldnt control their expressions when Date said the actor looks like kuu 😢. so julie didnt tell kuu that she was coming to japan to see kuon and she just wants to see him face to face rather than on a tv screen, even from the sides is fine by her. Can she really do that though? she's going to see kuon the next day during the route meeting n cedric the bully is going to be there, can she really just watch from the sidelines? 🤔

MAJOR NEWS!!!!!!
Guys, I just read chapter 280, and oh boy are we in for a hell of a ride. Because of the arrrival of a certain character, the whole story is about to take a big turn. DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED!!!!!
Okay, now that the warnings are out of the way, let’s get down to business. In this chapter, a very big event happened, and I’m not talking about Kyoko’s response to Ren’s confession. Though while I’m mentioning that...AHHHHH SHE NODDED! HE KNOWS! SHE KNOWS! THEY BOTH KNOWMHOW THEY FEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️
Ehem, nevertheless, that’s not the biggest development in the chapter. The biggest development is the arrival of this guy.
Tumblr media
Cedric D. Bennet
Some of you may remember him, some of you may not, but going forward in the story, he will be EXTREMLEY IMPORTANT! Let’s do some backtracking to see what we know of this character and his importance.
Chapter 258
We first hear Cedric’s name during the Momiji audition arc. His name is brought up in chapter 258 during the confrontation with Kimiko Morizumi. After Yashiro comes across Morizumi and her manager trying to throw Kyoko off the roof, the group is joined by the wheelchair bound Erika Koenji-san, claiming she can prove Morizumi tried to harm Kyoko.
Tumblr media
Koenji shows that all security cameras in the area were recording the incident and threatens to post the videos online. The threat truly frightens Morizumi when Koenji mentions one particular person who might see it.
Tumblr media
This frightens Morizumi as she has worked hard to create an image for herself to fit Cedric’s belief that “all Japanese women are pure and loving.” With this threat, Morizumi finally agrees to back off.
Chapter 272
The next time Cedric’s name comes up is in chapter 272 when Moko-san is asking Kyoko to be her English partner to help her prepare for her role in the American production she will be in. It is during this conversation we learn the name of her co-star.
Tumblr media
In chapter 280 he is most likely in Japan because of this role. In chapter 272 we learn that Cedric comes from a family of famous entertainers. We also learn that we have already met one member of his family, his grandfather Mr. Duris, or as we may remember him...
Tumblr media
Yep, the guy who was the diversion before Maria’s father came out at her birthday party. We also learn more about Uncle Tiger, specifically his reputaion in the entertainment industry.
Tumblr media
Uncle Tiger was also the man looking for the “fairy” actress Amamiya mentioned.
This has outlined all the ways Cedric is connected to Kyoko’s story. Now for the really important part, how he connects to Ren...
Chapter 273
During chapter 273, we overhear a very important phone call between Lori and Uncle Tiger. Lori and Uncle Tiger seem to be talking about a decision Ren recently made, perhaps about a job. Uncle Tiger asks Lori if Juliena and Kuu, Ren’s parents, have been informed about his decision. Lori says he will call them after Uncle Tiger. After a brief pause, Lori says,
Tumblr media
Uncle Tiger jokingly says he wishes he could cast a curse on Lori so that Maria will only call him “uncle” for two weeks. When Lori says this is hardly a punishment, Uncle Tiger responds,
Tumblr media
This conversation has lead to a very interesting theory by some fans, is Uncle Tiger Ren’s grandfather? Going off this conversation, it wouldn’t be too far fetched. Lori says that Uncle Tiger helping Ren would ruin all Ren worked for. Ren has been working hard to be recognized based on his acting talents alone, not his family connections. We thought this only applied to his parents the famous actors Kuu and Juliena Hizuri, but could it also apply to his grandfather, “the father of winners?” We have further proof when Lori implies that Uncle Tiger will be called grandfather again once Ren makes his American debut.
In the latest chapter we learn that Cedric is Uncle Tiger’s grandson. So, if the theory does prove to be true that Ren (or rather, Kuon) is his grandson as well, does that mean they are related? Perhaps cousins?
Chapter 273 provides us another bit of interesting information when Uncle Tiger says
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The “him” Uncle Tiger says he’s going to protect is Ren, however, who is he protecting him from?
After looking through previous chapters I think I have the answer. The person Uncle Tiger is protecting Ren from is the man who ruined Kuon’s life. The man who constantly tortured Kuon. The man who made Kuon run away from America. The man who was at least partially responsible for the death of Rick...
Cedric D. Bennet...
As I have outlined, we first heard Cedric’s name in chapter 258. However, now that we see what he looks like in chapter 280, it appears that we saw Cedric long before we heard his name.
Chapter 178
During the Heel siblings arc we see many glimpses of Ren’s past when he was still Kuon. In these flashbacks, there is one man who makes several appearances, this man.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similar to the picture shown above from chapter 178, whenever we see this man, he is harrassing Kuon for his mixed heritage. Looking closely at him now, he bares a strong resemblance to Cedric.
Chapter 180
We see this flashback continued in chapter 180. In this continuation, it appears that the gang that was cornering Kuon has now been beaten to a pulp. Despite their defeat, Koun continues his assult, only to be stopped by Rick with a quivering Tina behind him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then see the ringleader (the man who is likely Cedric) running away.
Tumblr media
Kuon is having none of this and chases after him, shortly followed by Rick. The flashback ends here. It is several more pages before we see the outcome.
Tumblr media
This, this right here is why Cedric’s arrival marks an important point in the story. He was there for Rick’s death. He was the one who, just like Tina, put it into Ren’s head that he was a murder.
Chapter 185
We can see that Cedric’s words, just like Tina’s, still haunt Ren. In fact, when Ren attacked Murasame-san on the set of Tragic Marker in chapter 185, it is because he reminded him of Cedric.
Tumblr media
The arrival of Cedric D. Bennet will have an irrevicobale effect on the story moving forward. With his arrival, we will now know the full story of the incident that set Kuon Hizuri on the Path to become Ren Tsuruga. In other words...
The shit has hit the fan!!!!!!
