if you’ve played genshin impact, something about them reminds me of jean gunnhildr (aka, they have a rigid personality but also overwork themselves and take on too much). they spread themselves a little too thin because of their pride and being useful is a Big Deal to them. also has a familiar who she promised her soul to once she passes—which could happen sooner than later if she doesn’t slow down.

Could the current generation end the war? Or the next? Because this war started when Ayt Mada had Kaul Lan killed. And the new generation doesn't even know Lan. He's not even a memory. What remains of this war when its protagonists die? Could peace come out of all this? Fuck, what an interesting book.

Oh she might never wear jade again. From a pragmatic and clan family, that family os so damaged and weakened. The only jade warrior left in the original generation is Hilo. He's starting to be quite alone.

The way she’s seen by so many as a monster but beneath that she’s just so very young)

Wan Shailu - The Emperor’s Soul / Cosmere (competent and sharp-edged and with a whole lot of Complicated Discussions of Identity! I’m fine!)

Melisande Shahrizai - Kushiel’s Legacy (no I will not apologise for this one; she’s extremely my type and All Of Those Things Are Good Actually)

Yasha - Critical Role (I’m just so here for the dualities and seeming contradictions she embodies: the flower-in-one-hand-sword-in-the-other, music-and-rage, fallen-and-rising, humour-and-darkness, gentleness-and-violence. Also the aesthetic)

Rin - The Poppy War (I almost love the existence of her character more than the character herself, if that makes any sense. I love the decisions she gets to make, the atrocities she gets to commit, and the ways in which she gets to destroy herself without the narrative trying to soften it or make her more likeable or ‘feminine’ for it. She’s a disaster and I love her)

Kaul Shaelinsan - The Green Bone Saga (c o m p e t e n c e. Plus her whole... leaving her home country and family and rejecting the role that was once expected of her only to come back to it, half a stranger and yet fitting almost seamlessly into that role and those expectations, and the internal conflict of that, falls under the umbrella of a particular thing I enjoy.)
