Mira's Visit Home Pt 2

This will have the small references to Mira's past (being slapped and belittled a lot) and she will be slapped here

Part 1, Part 3 (Final)

Mira's Visit Home (Cont.)

“Sorry, once we’re in the woods I can put you down,” he whispered to the two he’d grabbed. He felt horrible, the anger subsiding as he focused back on task. He knew Kaya for all of five minutes then grabbed them, this wouldn’t help convince them he was trustworthy. Thankfully he was on a piece of land close to the woods, getting out of sight in a few minutes.. He crouched down, carefully placing his hands down before opening them so they could get off. He waited for them to move, Mira and the squirrel jumping off immediately, but Kaya stared up at him.

“You, you protected us?” Kaya asked. Corus let his eyes go wide.

“Well yeah, it was pretty obvious the first time I met Mira she didn’t want to meet me. Then you were already terrified earlier and there wasn’t going to be time to say anything without drawing her attention. At least with holding you I knew you were safe, and your squirrel was a good excuse.” he said.

“What if it was just the two of us?” they asked.

“Then I’d have cupped my hands and claimed you were a mouse, or a large spider. I have it on pretty good authority that those terrify her.” He smirked and Kaya couldn’t help their smile back. They were pretty sure Mira had figured that out knowing how she always was back home when someone annoyed her. Returning to the task at hand, they scrambled off his hand and looked around. It wasn’t actually that far from their home here. Mira seemed to realize it too, placing her hands heavily on Kaya’s shoulders. Kaya looked at her confused, any thoughts frozen by Mira’s serious look.

“I can lead Corus from here,” she said. “Kaya just stay behind, you can head in once we’ve left the forest.”

“What? No I’m going with you,” they said. Mira sighed

“If you’re there and people are at the entrance, which they will be, they’ll assume you were involved bringing Corus-”

“Which I was.”

“Elder Collin will likely push for you to be sent away too, if not worse. You shouldn’t be sent away like I was. Either you listen to me or I convince him to keep you in his pocket.”

Mira and Kaya stared at each other, Corus stuck listening to the past he’d still not been told. Clearly they were reluctant to stay back, but Mira had a point. Their community took being found by humans seriously, Kaya could be in a lot of trouble. The stare down lasted only a few more seconds before Kaya finally sighed. They seemed to wilt looking up at Corus and making their decision.

“I won’t stay away, but I’ll stay out of sight,” they relented. “If anything seems weird I’m coming out though. You and I both brought him.”

“No we didn’t, but fine. Corus it’s over here,” Mira said running off. Corus was used to this by now, she never wanted to be carried unless it was necessary. He let her lead the way, trying to keep his own steps steady and soft so as to not mess up her balance. It only took a few minutes for a fallen tree with a small branch in front of it to come into view. Mira ran faster than she’d been until now. Corus took a few more steps then waited, he knew his steps would be felt and didn’t want to make things worse if people were at the branch. If they were lucky, no one would be there and they could leave everything they brought with no interaction.

“Is anyone here?” Mira called out as she climbed up the lower edge of the branch. Corus started forward worried if she fell, stopping as she spoke again. “Elder Collin?! I can barely hear you, but I brought help. We’ll get the branch out of the way. Just stand back.”

Mira jumped down from the branch landing gracefully. She stared up at Corus, he nodded and walked forward. He could barely hear concerned voices from the other side, he was hoping this wouldn’t be as bad as he feared. He carefully kneeled on the ground, Mira coming to stand closer and out of his way, then dug his hand underneath the small branch. He still couldn’t get over how different their lives were. This branch was more of an inconvenience to him rather than the awful problem it was to Mira and others like her. He heard someone shout about a human, quickly putting his focus back on the branch. He slowly lifted it, being cautious of how he tried to get leverage with the base. He didn’t know if anyone might be close enough to get hurt. Once he had it high enough, he pivoted it to the side, leaving the entrance cleared.

He made sure to place it down slowly, positive dropping it would scare them, then turned his attention back to the opening just revealed. Standing there were five people that were clearly terrified. Mira moved forward, she stayed within Corus’s reach though. Two of the people in the fallen tree seemed to study her for a moment before running out with abandon. They wrapped her in a tight hug and Corus gave a small smile. The other three started towards Mira cautiously, one clearly more reluctant than the others to move closer to Corus.

“Mom, Dad,” Mira said. “I brought my friend to help. His name is Corus, I trust him.”

“Nice to meet you,” Corus whispered. Mira had been used to how loud his voice could be when he spoke, but he didn’t want to assume the people here would be the same. One of the two looked between Mira and Corus, then to the person next to them. They separated from the tight hug that hadn’t stopped stepping closer to Corus. They looked up to his face and he realized where Mira got her confidence from.

“Thank you for helping us, I’m Amy Mirabelle’s mother,” she gestured to the person near her. “This is Mitchell, her father.”

Mira’s father looked at Corus and moved to stand between him and the two small women. Corus had a moment of confusion before he realized her father was trying to make sure he could defend them. Corus felt his heart shatter a little, but tried to keep it from showing. The three who were moving closer stopped a little further back, Mira turned her focus to them. He noticed her tensing and Corus wanted to rest his hand near her. He knew better though any movements could be taken incredibly badly right now

“Mirabelle Ann, you’ve brought a human here,” the one furthest from Corus said.

“E-elder Collin,” she squeaked. “I-uh Kaya told me what happened. I ran to Corus once I heard and asked him for help. Oh we brought supplies too, just in case. Corus, can you pull out what we brought?”

He nodded and turned his attention to his bag. As he started to place the food closer to the tree, a slap rang out loud even to him. He stared wide eyed down at the group of people and had barely caught himself from shouting. In front of him, Mira had her face turned and her hand cradling her cheek, clearly having been the one slapped. The small man looked smug as he saw the pain and shock on Mira’s face. Corus tried to focus on how everyone else reacted, none of them seeming to have expected his action. None of them spoke up, or even moved to separate them though. Corus dug his nails into his palm, grounding himself before he did something stupid.

“Mirabelle Ann, we made sure you had a safe home. Made sure you’d be safe and this is how you repay us? I never should have listened to Richard and Anna about sending you off on your own. Your parents should have been rid of you at the start. All you’ve done is prove you’re a cursed child. Then after all of this you expect us to casually accept handouts from the human you’ve shown our own home to?!” Collin’s voice was raised, Mira was barely looking at him. Corus saw him raise his hand to slap her again and moved quickly. He grabbed the smaller man’s arm, making sure it was only tight enough to stop him, although he couldn’t be sure there wouldn’t be a bruise. He wasn’t sure what face he had on, but he knew the fear Collin showed was warranted.

Corus was aware of how awful things could go now. He could do anything he wanted, he could be the monster the man so clearly thought he was. Instead, Corus held his gaze focused on Collin until Mira seemed to gather herself again. She slowly looked up, only seeming to realize then that the slap she expected wasn’t coming. Corus noticed her tense, and he worried he’d undone all the work he put into gaining her trust like this, but he couldn’t ignore it. Instead she looked up at him with shock, like she never expected someone to intervene. He could feel his anger rising again, but wasn’t going to lose his cool. He had improved and wouldn’t be what these people wanted.

“I’m going to let go,” Corus said, his tone low and cold. “Do not try to slap her again.”

He released the man’s arm, watching him rush back behind the two who had brought him closer. He looked at them expecting looks of fear or anger, but both looked almost relieved. Mira had started backing up when Corus first spoke, she was now up against his leg grabbing at the fabric of his pants. Any time she mentioned home she’d sounded so fond, he never expected this. It seemed like no one knew what to do at this point, but Kaya rode in on their squirrel most likely to diffuse things.

“Anna, Richard,” they said. “Mira cared for me overnight, then brought me with her to ask the human for help. I told them things we could use and he rushed to get anything either of us mentioned. Not only that another human was near once we’d left the home and he protected us making that one leave. Mira isn’t wrong in her assessment. This human can be trusted.”

“Corus,” Mira’s voice was quiet; he barely heard it. It was the first time he thought she sounded small “Please take out the rest of what we brought.”

He looked at her with soft eyes and did as she asked. He had brought more than just the food, although Mira and Kaya were only finding out now. When he’d gone to get his bag he threw in some of his first aid supplies and fabric scraps. They were in trouble and all of this could be helpful for them. Mira’s parents, and the two who must be Anna and Richard looked at all he brought wide eyed. Even Mira looked up at him surprised, he smiled down at her he’d always do everything he could to help her or her home.

“It seems like we haven’t been wrong in our beliefs,” Anna said. “Collin, you were invited because of the situation we were in, things have changed. Richard please help him back to his home. Mira, Kaya, Mitchell please help bring some of the supplies inside. We’d had a bad harvest. This is more than we could have hoped for, especially after going through so much for the last few days.”

Mira looked surprised, but did as instructed. Richard had grabbed Collin and begun to lead him back into the tree. Corus realized they must have hollowed it somehow, wishing he could really see it. Once everyone but Anna and Amy were gone the two looked back at him. After what just happened he felt surprisingly small under their intense gaze.

“I’m sure you don’t know anything about what’s just happened,” Amy said. “In simplest terms Collin is an elder, the only one who we rely on to pass down a number of things. We will be dealing with this, you don’t have to stay here.”

“If you don’t mind, I’d like to wait here until Mira’s done with what you need her for,” he said. The two women looked at each other then nodded. They quickly walked back into the tree as well leaving Corus on his own. He figured more people would be coming to gather what he’d brought so he chose to, carefully, back up to sit against a tree.

Mira was shocked they’d let her go inside. When she left she was told even if she came back she’d never be allowed inside again. She was when people were watching her with something similar to awe and whispering. Before she left, there were always whispers about the cursed child, the bad omen, anything meaning she brought danger, but these felt different. Some of the people from her group the day she’d been seen saw her and she couldn’t believe how relieved they looked. Everyone should be terrified that she’s back, or focused on the entrance, not her. She followed Kaya and her father to the storage, but was grabbed by Richard on her way back out, she didn’t want to be here, it didn’t feel right.

She was worried about what he wanted, but followed. He and Anna were the two set to take over after elder Collin. They were also the ones who trained her for most of her life and helped her when she was first sent off on her own. They felt like older siblings, and she didn’t want to find out how much she disappointed them. Richard brought her to the meeting room, the same place she’d been told she’d be sent away. Offering her a chair he sat across on the far side. She slowly slid down unsure of what this was going to be, a little worried he wouldn’t let her go back outside until Corus left.

“So, we know there was more to the day you were seen,” he began, Mira’s heart stopped and her hands started shaking. “You were grabbed, pushing one of the others out of the way. When that human child had asked about the doll, you were already in their grasp. It was because of you we made it out that day. It’s the story we were told about a year after you left, why keep quiet?”

“I was still seen. It wouldn’t have changed anything. There was a good chance the child would keep an eye out for me. I was a bad omen anyway, it was better if I left,” she answered. This was possibly the most honest she’d been about that day to anyone. She hated how the nightmares of that day still plagued her, neverending what ifs. She’d never mentioned them while she had still lived here. Corus was the first to ever hear about it. Richard sighed, running a hand down his face.

“When we found out everyone couldn’t believe it. Collin’s position was immediately changed, he was only allowed to comment on life and death matters. He lost a lot of respect when we found out he’d known and still pushed to abandon you in an open field with no supplies..”

“Wait, I would have… that means that he... that Elder Collin wanted me to...,” Mira’s eyes went wide. She knew she was hated, but never realized it ran quite that deeply. Tears pricked at her eyes, she never thought her life was at risk. It was the first time she realized, even if she’d spoken up they weren’t going to let her stay. It was just an excuse. She could barely think straight.

“Anna and I weren’t letting that happen. As far as we’re concerned you’re our little sister, we’d have made sure you were safe no matter what.” Richard reached out and squeezed Mira’s hand giving her a warm smile. “There’s more, when it was revealed how Collin acted, and what he hid the community lost a lot of faith. There was one thing that they agreed on, if you did ever return to us you wouldn’t be shunned.”

Richard sighed again, releasing Mira’s hand and leaning back. “All of this is a long winded way to say you’re welcome to stay. You don’t have to go back with that human.”

“What?”

“You can come home. Although I’m shocked, you came back to us with a human and said you trusted him. As far back as I can remember you never even said you trusted me, Anna, Kaya, or even your parents. He must be something else. Can’t say I’m ecstatic with him being a human. If you don’t want to stay, it's all right. I mean he’s important to you, can’t blame you for staying near him.”

Corus wasn’t sure how long had passed since Mira went inside. He was a little concerned after Kaya and Mitchell came for a second trip, but Mira still hadn’t. He wanted to ask someone, but everyone who came out looked so terrified when he cleared his throat that he couldn’t bring himself to speak. He tried to keep himself distracted, looking away from the people coming and going. He kept getting drawn back to them though, almost shocked at how large the community was looking to be. He never expected Mira’s home to be so populated, it seemed like it matched the city he grew up in. A part of him wondered if she’d be offered the chance to stay. He knew she’d take it, she missed the people here, although he hated the idea after they all just watched that guy slap her and berate her.

The supplies seemed to finally be brought in completely and he smiled. Even if they didn’t use most of it he was glad they had it. A few minutes after that Mira walked out with Amy and Anna. She was laughing and smiling brighter than he’d ever seen. Her clothes were changed too, he’d offered to try buying doll clothes, but she said what she had was fine . It was a pale red shirt and black pants,simple enough, but he still thought she looked beautiful. He wondered when exactly he started to fall for someone who fit in his hand. Mira walked right up to him without a second thought, Amy and Anna were a little slower.

Amy pulled Mira into a tight hug, Anna joining in and asking “So Kaya and your mom will come to check in a week all right?”

Mira nodded and the other two let go. They looked up at Corus giving awkward waves. He smiled back and watched as the two left. Mira and Corus were left alone again, he figured since they mentioned checking in a week she was at least coming back for now. He started to stand up, but offered her his hand while he was still crouched. She smiled and climbed on, something that always made him feel warm. He started to think about never feeling her small weight in his hand again, and felt his heart break. He pulled his hand close to his chest and stood to his full height.

“I should probably go in that pocket again,” she said. She wouldn’t admit she wanted to be closer to him right now. Hearing his heartbeat felt like the best way to calm her mind. She had so much to decide, but first she had to understand how Corus felt about her. Richard was right, he was important. Of course her mom and Anna made their comments too. All of them seemed to realize before her that she loved him and gave her their blessings. Kaya was the one to make it clear when they asked if she was going to tell him how she felt. She could feel the blush creeping up already

“Of course,” he smiled. He lifted her higher and pulled open his coat. He’d made sure to wear this coat all the time now, so she always had a place to hide near him. She said how much she liked this after being overwhelmed on a trip to get some plants. He tilted his hand slightly towards the pocket and she climbed in, another thing he’d miss if she leaves. He tried to remind himself he didn’t know that would be happening yet, but why else would she be so happy. He placed a hand over the pocket as she got comfortable, trying to make sure he’d never forget little things like this. “Ready?”

“Let’s go!” she called up and he started walking away. He kept his eyes focused on the ground just in case. He rushed a little once they were out of the forest, wanting to be home and be able to talk to Mira. He needed to know what was coming next week. He’d gotten them home, to his home not hers he reminded himself, in no time and had no run-ins with nosy, annoying neighbors. Once inside he went to his room sitting on the bed before readying himself to pull Mira out. He wasn’t looking forward to talking about if she’d stay. It was so easy to make it seem like he wasn’t giving her a choice.

eu tô um cadico ocupada essa semana e bastante desanimada com o 1x1, mas eu vou te falar alguns plots que quero como última tentativa de salvar minha esperança pra essa plataforma, então here we go.

a) hogwarts!au — f/m; halley black (maia mitchell): minha personagem é inspirada na mãe da luna lovegood, tendo sofrido um acidente que dá descargas de amnésia frequentemente até um momento em que ela se esquece de tudo. eu queria muito poder desenvolver ela já que minha partner também deu o pé da 1x1. eu costumava jogar com ela na 1x1 e amava de montão minha menina. quero bastante poder jogar com ela e desenvolver até o fim! sugestões: nick robinson, ansel elgort, max irons, alex h. andersen, cameron monaghan.

b) utopia — f/m; jordana banner (amy adams): eu tenho um plot inspirado em ‘os vingadores’ que é sobre quando todos viram poeira, mas sem toda aquela parte de heróis canon, e a minha personagem é uma cientista que está tentando buscar respostas e tentando trazer de volta todo o resto. ela mexeria com a parte de mundo quântico enquanto o outro personagem seria a peça chave pra isso, sendo bem um homem formiga. sugestões: jeremy renner, chris evans, jake gylenhaal, idris elba, chadwick boseman.

c) anjos — f/m; eva enkeli (kaya scodelario): vindo do falecido kadmon, minha personagem era o anjo kasyade caído depois de um milhão de tretas e que se tornou uma caçadora no mundo místico, vivendo da venda de pele e magia de todos que matava e tendo rancor eterno do céu e do inferno. o personagem poderia ser anjo ou demônio, mas alguém que teria pena dela e de como a vida dela é um fracasso e tentaria ajudar, acabando de envolvendo. sugestões: casey deidrick, jake gylenhaal, william moseley, matthew daddario, jordan fisher, michael b. jordan.

Mas de FCs que eu torço um pouco o nariz, acho que a Holliday Grainger, mais os gifs medievais, ela mais velha eu até aguento, o François Arnaud também, acho que a Selena Gomez? Mais porque os gifs que o povo normalmente usa me incomoda. Carlson Young, Maia Mitchell, Dua Lipa, são todas que eu sou neutra, mas teve uma época que todo mundo usava aí eu torço um pouco o nariz. O Torrance Coombs porque eu acho ele meio esquisito - me dá medo. Acho que só? Não lembro mais, mas deve existir sim. e eu superei meu ranço com a lily collins glória odin.
