That’s very kind, but not yet. We’re currently planning a short trip up to north florida so we can talk to a realtor and look seriously at houses. Like, this was already the plan, to move hopefully by year’s end or by early 2021. It’s just a lot more urgent right now.

you mentioned you have a hard time getting high from weed- that could be genetic. it’s possible that your CB1 and CB2 receptors (what the thc interacts with) could have a particular mutation that is very insensitive to cannabis, which would make it extremely challenging to become intoxicated.

i think the point isn't to pretend that the person isn't xphobic when they exhibit those behaviors, but to avoid specifically calling them phobic because it makes them defensive and often results in them not being willing to listen? like it's dumb and frustrating but if you are entering an interaction with the goal of discussing phobic behavior with someone, calling them phobic is not going to help at all. outside of that, their behavior should absolutely still be acknowledged as what it is

I get that, I’m just frustrated about it. Like in one breath they’ll call ‘SJWs’ sensitive for having safe spaces or for being ‘sensitive’ and on the other hand, if you call their behaviour xphobic, they close down all conversation and refuse to engage further.

Although I guess someone who acts like that just isn’t worth the emotional labour and probably isn’t going to change their mind anyway.

I guess it’s weighing up whether you should use a gently-gently approach if you legitimately think you can change someone’s mind or not.

I just feel like there’s this kind of social contract where we have to be nice to bigots so that they MIGHT deign to change their minds, but I don’t feel like that’s engaging with them on an equal playing field. They are already closing down polite conversation by being bigots.

i read a spark a flame a fire in 2016 and to this day i will idly think about the fic and instantly get transported back to the scene in prospit where dirk is confronting jane and jake reveals himself. like, jake shoving past people to get to the stairs and rushing down, and everyone stares at him, and then dirk fucking smiles. GOD the tension of that scene still makes me clench up even years later!!!

hi! my week has been one of the roughest of my life, because i lost a cousin who was like a brother to suicide on the 17th. things are getting a little bit easier as time passes but i still miss him a lot and i'm still trying to process what's happened. we've been focusing on thinking of good memories to make a scrapbook for his parents to have, so it's been comforting to hear those stories and see pictures and stuff. recovering is gonna be a long road but i have a lot of support to get me there
