So this happened today... my man-bun turned 21, and I got the best present ever: to spend time with him on this milestone day! I got to gift him with his first "adult" piece of art by @kazeman84 , who was kind enough to help keep up the illusion of someone else purchasing his work! He is so in love with it! Thank you @maryanne_artist , @kaaawasaki , @layrstrini and @e.t.soy for the thoughtful gifts that I know he will treasure! First show back last Friday was epic to say the least I think my favorite part of the evening was post show... these two men leaving with a purchased geisha art piece stopped to chat with me. Extremely honored to be doing a show tonight @brokenhardened In downtown Hilo with @kimtaylorreece called NEGATIVE PARADISE. It’s a play on words where you need the negatives for a complete and whole picture but we addressed some pretty heavy issues in a artistic way thru photography and I guess Street art if you have to put a label on it. I’m happy with outcome and I could go on and on why but I’ll let you guys decide because when you think about it that’s what art is supposed to do. I’ve had several people look at the images this past weekend and just breakdown into tears which made me feel good not because they were crying but because of how we made them feel and that’s the real payout, it’s the passion and emotion surrounding our work. A year ago I opened up a small gallery because I needed a studio and creative space to work out of due to lack of internet at my home office, it was only supposed to be open one day a week or by appointment only, but due to the demand of the clothing merch it slowly grew into two days then three and then to what it is now 6 days a week it’s been more than I could handle at times but definitely a blessing none the less. I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence but next week for my one year anniversary and during Merrie Monarch week here in Hilo we will be hosting a very prestigious collaboration with renowned photographer @kimtaylorreece and close personal friend and Artist @oneuglybastard . It will be a very interesting and exciting week for all of us here @brokenhardened and due to the limited supply of merch it will be first come first serve with no holds or phone orders and we apologize for the inconvenience in advance.
