KIP BURNS
(Inspired by Kwazii)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is basically my comfort OC whom I made based on my headcanon of Kwazii (very similar to my intern AU version if you want to check it out) so please be very kind she means a great deal to me :)
(Age: 16)(Height: 5’0”)(Gender: Bigender)(Pronouns: He/She but doesn’t rly mind)
While I use Kip in many universes he originated from one where teenagers develop a second monster form and they go to stay in an infinite hotel run by Alyxandros (@xen-blank’s OC whom i literally love so much) to discover this form. Once they do they can leave or live in one of the hotels unique floors.
Misc Info:

The eyepatch is mainly for aesthetics and to better see in the dark.
Has cat eye syndrome
HATES the cold
Good at table tennis
Likes dressing up in costume (Her favorite being a fairy)

Likes trying random sports
Can sleep anywhere (except cold places)
Can crochet and knit
Likes cooking especially spicy food
Practices sword fighting
Wrote a book on sea monsters she wants to publish one day
Can play Drums, Bass, and Recorder
AuDHD
Backstory from og story:
Kip has very few memories of his birth parents. Just images that he isn’t sure are actual memories or just fabrications. They died when he was very little and she was raised by her grandfather. Her grandfather was a treasure Hunter and Kip loved listening to his stories of the sea and finding out about his family's pirate lineage. While living with her grandfather she lived in the hotel. She only lived with him for a short while, however, as he found a treasure map, went into a door and never returned. (He got lost and has been stuck in there) Kip lived by himself in the hotel for a short while, somehow he always had food and things to occupy himself as if someone was watching and caring for him. Then one day a family stumbled across Kip when looking for their car keys they had “coincidentally” lost. It was a man and his sister who were moving out of the hotel. The man, Mr. Burns, was actually looking to adopt soon and realizing Kip was alone decided to stay at the hotel till Kip's situation was sorted out. They stayed together until Burns realized that No one was coming for Kip, so he adopted him himself. Kip loves his new family  (Mr. Burns sister now has 2 children) but he’s always wondered what happened to her grandfather and has held resentment towards the hotel whom she believes took him. She only accepted the letter to come live there to discover his monster to find his grandfather.
Second Monster form from og story:
Kip’s monster form is  a blue globulin creature. She is light blue and somewhat transparent. He has no defined shape and is relatively small. The only thing remotely humanoid about her is a faint facial expression. He can separate himself into separate pieces or turn only part  of his body into slime. Her globulin form can move on its own but sometimes has a small amount of control over Kip's brain. His main ability is attaching herself to another being. Whatever part of the being he’s attached to he has control over. Her monster form is almost always hungry. If he eats he gets bigger and once he can engulf a being fully then he can control the whole being, brain included, and even make slime duplicates if he has enough slime to spare. (The monster is not evil)
picrew is Toon Me (A)
Let me know if you want to see other character designs of mine from this universe :)

Sleeover Friday: How do you think Penny feels about The Box?
ooooh interesting 👀👀
i have a couple of thoughts about this tbh, but my personal headcanon is that shes on top of the food chain in this relationship. so its like penny > box > kip. like she controls everything about the box, thats in control of kip
she might still find it a bit weird or suspect to have kip talk to it or wear it etc., but shes dealing with it for the greater good of her own agenda
(also if i recall right she said once [out of character] that she doesnt mind the box but she just kinda doesnt get it lol)

2. Who is your favourite one off/minor character? Ooh! I have a few. I adore the characters that our boys fan over - so the Pendergasts and Kip Harris are some of my favorites. Of rescuees, I also *adored* Scraps and headcanon that she and Gordon became friends after they met. 8. Would you want to live in the 2060 portrayed by TAG?
Do the Tracy's come with the deal? Because then, yes. Sign me up.
The holoeverything would really screw with my brain since I work on a computer all day, and I think they’ve said there’s no paper in one of the episodes I think? I’d have a problem with that on a New-Book-Smell Level. But on the flip side - no trash. So pros and cons I suppose. I’ll put it this way - if TAG world is our future, I’d be okay with it. Sign me up as Sally, because I can’t cook either. And I better have a grandson as kind and patient as Virgil to show me how to use all the gadgets.
10. If the fam HAD to swap Thunderbirds, who would you place with which 'bird? @alexthefly also asked me this one! :)
Okay, okay. Asking the hard questions here:
Thunderbird 1 - is Alan. He’s a speed demon.
Thunderbird 2 - is John. He’s a patient soul that could handle her nuances. And her size.
Thunderbird 3 - is Scott  - is also a speed demon, but still needs that adrenaline rush and needs to be doing things.
Thunderbird 4 - is Virgil. Four needs someone who respects the Earth, and I feel he’s the one that fits the bill.
Thunderbird 5 -  is Gordon. (I know. Stay with me here) He’s quick thinking, I definitely think he’s a clever dude beneath that light joking exterior. He’d want to come home more often, but he’s done the isolation thing before and can handle it. (Sorry I could totally talk Gordon’s personality for days). It would be a very different TAG, and it’s not perfect. Scott I could see in Five because he needs to be in control, but he would hate not being in an active role. Gordon would be better able to step into Two, and we’d still get our FishTank dynamic duo.

Reverse!Shot
The obligatory AU where the characters are swapped with their opposites! I haven't seen any works with this trope yet suprisingly, apart from a couple of characters (that I know of, at least)...
Had a lil burst of ideas after mulling over some fanfiction I read, and I started doodling away at my post it notes. Ideas that I thought were cool were thrown in to the mix, some may make sense, maybe it won't
Anyways, here are my headcanons for a "Swap" AU thing
Niko controls/guides player
Niko is a god, trapped in a room of clouds
Niko has cool god accessories because why the hell not?
Takes place after the first session
If it were in game form, Reverse shot is a first person POV game.
It's like, as if it really were "us" who switched places with Niko. The appearance of User is up to anyone's interpretation.
Uh, so kinda like a visual novel?
Though, I also base it on Rusty Lake's cube games. Their games, at their base, are room escape puzzle games. Though, elements of surreal imagery, horror, and symbolism ahoy makes it more interesting.
The theme that I that I thought was cool was "A roll of a dice", or possibilities of multiple realities.
Characters I have in mind who're switched :
Niko and Player
Proto and Prophetbot
Kip and Silver
Lamplighter and Ling
Author and George
Alula and Calamus
Magpie and Cedric
Rue and Kip...? (I really have no idea who I should switch her with)
Player represents "us".
If I decide I don't like a traitless MC, then the possibility that Niko will guide a different personality is made apparent. Headcanon persona for MC is a player with dog-like traits, who can be excitable and curious, but has a bit of a temper.
The World Machine remains as they are. Though they might or might not be aware of this little switcharoo.
I have no idea what I'm doing lol
But I'll just dump this out here

( DAVID CASTAÑEDA, CISMALE, HE/HIM ) — ✧ that looks like KURT ROGERS! they’re the TWENTY-SIX YEAR OLD ADOPTIVE SON of STEVE ROGERS. [ they are also a HERO FOR HIRE & BARTENDER AT JOHNNY’S BAR at paragon. ] i hear they’re DETERMINED & SELFLESS, but tend to be RECKLESS & STUBBORN. his file says that his power is HAEMOKINESIS. { kip, cst, 23, she/her }
filling wcs: theodosia foster-thorsdottir’s best friend who’s helping her raise her son, megan roth’s skeptic, sienna thompkins’ training partner
tw: murder
Kurt’s earliest memories are of the orphanage so he has absolutely no idea who his birth parents are or what happened to to them. As a result, the people around him and he had no idea that he was actually a mutant until his powers finally emerged.
Growing up Kurt was a very expressive and emotional child, always quick to anger or tears. A lot of the kids in the orphanage and foster homes he was placed in often made fun of him for this which only made controlling his emotions harder.
Never feeling like he belonged in any of the homes he was placed in, Kurt developed a habit of trying to run away often to either find his real family or a family he would actually belong in. He never got that far with any of his run away attempts considering he was very young and not exactly sneaky enough to pull it off.
Because he wasn’t exactly an easy child to handle, he bounced around to quite a few foster homes in his earlier years, only cementing the idea that he didn’t belong in most places.
When he was eight he was finally placed into home where there were no other children. Things seemed to really look up for him from there. He got along with his foster parents and was finally feeling like he belonged until another child entered the picture.
From the very beginning the two never seemed to get along and Kurt always felt as if he was the only one getting in trouble for it which quickly caused his relationship with his foster parents to go downhill. Things only seemed to get worse from there.
TW: One day while his foster mom and sibling were out running errands Kurt got into a very heated argument with his foster dad. Things escalated and got out of hand quickly as his mutation began to manifest. Completely unaware of what he was doing, Kurt began to boil the blood of his foster dad. The confusion surrounding what was happening only caused Kurt to get even more emotional, making his powers spiral out of control. Before he could figure out what was happening or how to stop it, he killed his foster father.
Terrified of what just happened and what would happen when the rest of the family came home, he quickly ran away with nothing but the clothes on his back. With nowhere to go, Kurt roamed the streets for a few months just barely getting by until he was fortunate enough to run into Steve Rogers. While he didn’t trust Steve or know if he should go with him, it was too hard to refuse food and a warm place to sleep for the night.
Kurt rarely said anything and usually tried to spend his time alone while initially staying with Steve, still unsure of what to make of the man who took him in. Over time though, he began to slowly make more conversation with him and spend more time around him.
Though he had warmed up to Steve, the same could not be said about the other people that came into his life. At most gatherings, little Kurt would cower behind Steve until he was finally comfortable enough around the other adults and the kids.
About a year later when he had warmed up to the people around him, he started to worry that he might end up hurting them or worse. Figuring it was safer for everyone if he wasn’t around until he was able to fully understand and control his powers, he attempted to run away. He didn’t get too far before Solveig stopped him right in his tracks. After listening to his explanation between tears that he didn’t necessarily want to leave but felt like he had to, she was able to convince him to stick around and learn to control his powers with his new family.
Deciding to stay, he put all he had into learning everything about his powers and keeping his emotions in check to prevent hurting anyone again. Although he meant well, he took both a bit too far and became rather closed off emotionally. As for his powers, he only practiced on himself which resulted in a few serious trips to the hospital whenever he went a little too far.
Although he has the hang of his powers now, he still hates them and worries about losing control of them again. Losing control is by far his biggest fear and was made worse with the recent gas leak where he lost control of his powers.
While he still remains fairly closed off, even to those he’s closest to, he really does care about his friends and family and will always drop whatever he’s doing to help them out.
Kurt can be extremely reckless, determined, impulsive, and stubborn which very rarely pays off for him. More often than not, he’s getting himself into worse situations and trouble. Since he’s far too stubborn to ask for any help or listen to most advice, he ends up making things a lot harder for himself than necessary. His heart's in the right place but he definitely needs to use his head some more.
He honestly a bit of a hypocrite because while he’s usually putting himself into bad situations, he’s also very much the grumpy dad friend trying to lecture everyone else about being careful.
He doesn’t go out too often so whenever he’s at a party or something it’s 100% because one of his friends dragged him out. You can bet Kurt will complain for at least half the night about it too.
Part of the reason he doesn’t like to go out often is because large crowds make him uneasy. He’s grown more comfortable with them in time, but he’s still not completely comfortable with them.
His rescue pitbull, Baymax, is competing to be the most spoiled dog in the universe. Kurt’s had him for three years now and would much rather hang out with his dog than go out and hang out with a bunch of people.
He’s currently a very very lowkey hero for hire in addition to being a bartender. He’s keeping it pretty lowkey because he’s really not that great at it right now, his recklessness pretty much ensures something goes wrong every time and he’s also trying not to worry anyone about it.
Becoming a hero of sorts was never something he planned on. He always looked up to Steve and admired what he did but never thought it was something he would be cut out for. He’s only recently started because he’s tired of waiting around for other people to do something every time something goes wrong at Paragon.
wanted connections!!!
KURT ROGERS, our DAVID CASTAÑEDA fc is looking for a RIDE OR DIE/BLOOD LINK connection who looks like UTP who is  24-27 YEARS OLD.  you DON’T have to contact prior to applying. ( i think it’d be cool if they were a kid of sam wilson or another avenger but it’s not necessary. basically kurt has been very close to this person ever since he was adopted and eventually he used his powers to form a blood link with them so they’d always be connected, know when the other was in trouble, ect. i like the idea of them having different personalities to balance each other out like they’re able to get kurt to loosen up and have some fun for a change and kurt can get them to take certain things a little more seriously. i have tons of other headcanons we can discuss before or after you apply! )
KURT ROGERS, our DAVID CASTAÑEDA fc is looking for a COWORKERS connection who looks like UTP who is UTP YEARS OLD. you DON’T have to contact prior to applying. ( just give me people who work at johnny’s bar and complain about customers with kurt or bother him about his lack of people skills. )
KURT ROGERS, our DAVID CASTAÑEDA fc is looking for a EX FLINGS connection who looks like UTP who is 23-29 YEARS OLD.  you DON’T have to contact prior to applying. ( kurt’s not exactly great at communicating things or maintaining romantic relationships with everything else he has going on so he’s had a number of short lived flings in the past. we can plot out all the ends and outs of the relationship if you want before or after you apply! ) (robert banner, & more!)
KURT ROGERS, our DAVID CASTAÑEDA fc is looking for a SERIOUS EX connection who looks like UTP who is 23-29 YEARS OLD. you DON’T have to contact prior to applying. ( this was someone kurt fell hard for and put a lot more effort into the relationship than all his previous ones. things got pretty serious between the two to the point kurt was even considering proposing sometime in the nearish future but then the relationship fell apart for one reason or another. it was a somewhat recent breakup so kurt still has some lingering feelings for this person even though he would never admit it. we can plot out more before/after you apply! ) (morgan stark)
KURT ROGERS, our DAVID CASTAÑEDA fc is looking for a SOMEONE THAT STOPPED HIM FROM RUNNING AWAY connection who looks like UTP who is  40+ YEARS OLD.  you DON’T have to contact prior to applying. ( so kurt tried to run away about a year after getting adopted by steve because he thought he was a danger to the people around him. this person happened to run into little kurt trying to run away and patiently listened to his explanation before convincing him to stay. not wanting steve to find out and feel bad, kurt would have begged this person not to tell him. as kurt has grown up this person has probably been an adult he’s always felt comfortable confiding in whenever something is bothering him and he actually feels like talking about it. ) (solveig carter)
KURT ROGERS, our DAVID CASTAÑEDA fc is looking for a PARTNER/HERO TEAM connection who looks like UTP who is UTP YEARS OLD. you DON’T have to contact prior to applying. ( i just need him to have at least a partner while he’s doing heroics, otherwise the big dummy is going to get himself killed.)
KURT ROGERS, our DAVID CASTAÑEDA fc is looking for a CLIENTS connection who looks like UTP who is UTP YEARS OLD. you DON’T have to contact prior to applying. ( if your muse needs to hire a hero who is trying his gosh dang hardest but will probably only produce mediocre results, then kurt is your boi.)
KURT ROGERS, our DAVID CASTAÑEDA fc is looking for a OLD CHILDHOOD FRIEND connection who looks like UTP who is 24-27 YEARS OLD. you DON’T have to contact prior to applying. ( needs to be a villain/criminal/someone up to some shady stuff. this is someone kurt was friends with when he was kid but then they fell out of touch for whatever reason and haven’t seen each other in years. now they’ve run into each other again but now things are all complicated and messy because kurt is very loyal but also can’t get behind the stuff they’re up to nowadays.)
KURT ROGERS, our DAVID CASTAÑEDA fc is looking for a PERSON TO PATCH HIM UP connection who looks like UTP who is UTP YEARS OLD. you DON’T have to contact prior to applying. ( just someone who will patch kurt up on the down-low whenever his hero antics get him injured. bonus points if they constantly lecture him on being more careful. )
KURT ROGERS, our DAVID CASTAÑEDA fc is looking for a SLOW BURN ROMANTIC connection who looks like UTP who is 24-29 YEARS OLD. you DON’T have to contact prior to applying. ( kurt isn’t exactly the best at opening up or dealing with his emotions & is still hung up on his most recent ex so it’d take some time to build up. but i’d just love something sweet and soft for him since i usually put him through a lot™ )
I’m always open to any other connections so if you have something you think he’d fit, feel free to hmu whenever!!

Any Langston and/or Arish headcanons you have thought up recently?
hi anon! sorry this one took me so long to get to, I've been busy ;o; and I wanted to make sure I had some good ones to share!!
langston
he strikes me as the type with a textile hobby, or that he's at least tried them before. he probably gave up needle felting because he kept accidentally stabbing his thumb
the bureau really is just like, another 9-5 job to him. it really ISNT, because he knows how special and cool it is, and really does have a good understanding of the paranatural, in his own weird way, but its also just. his office job he goes to and comes home from! daily life. no biggie. except. it is a big deal. but also not!
he's fairly good at keeping his work and home life separate, except for his love for alan wake. and also whatever's up with his cat. and maybe also his nice old lady neighbor.
that aside, he has a good understanding of the fact that the paranatural world doesn't stop when you leave the oldest house, and it isnt only found at AWEs and thresholds. he gets that its just part of reality and informs daily life in ways they take for granted.
side note, he really does get along well with his neighbor! that's basically his family to him-- his family is still around, more or less, but he interacts with her and people at work more. the rest of his social life are random art exhibits and club meetings he heads to on his own and his forum presence online.
arish
the group mom who tells everyone to talk about their feelings and not bottle it up, except HE bottles up his own feelings often. he's good at being open, but not at being vulnerable. he tries to just shoulder all his own problems and take care of them himself
big family, loves them all, even bigger family gatherings, a mama's boy.
one of the few in the core control cast who has a social media and actually uses it. he seems like a guy who might have snapchat to me-- mostly just uses it to keep up with friends.
his friends and family outside the bureau know he works a classified government job and that he can't really disclose much about it. he does love to joke about it though. really though, he wants to keep everyone away from that life as much as possible, if he can avoid it-- not because he wants them uninvolved with what he does, but because he worries about the danger it might bring.
not a big fan of spiders or snakes. sure he'll kill the spider in the apartment but he won't be happy about it. he only screamed like five times. yes he was a ranger and has plenty of combat experience. shut up.

I’m late to the party but-
Gimme all your Emily headcanons I can never have enough
hi beloved im sorry this took so long my brain fell out and into the astral plane but its back now with knowledge <3
emily is an only child, in my eyes (until canon informs otherwise)
you know that scene in scott pilgrim where ramona lists all the teas she has? that's emily's apartment, except she has an organized box of the bags and loose-leafs and offers to let you get your own tea yourself.
(she's cutting back on coffee)
she comes across as 'cold' to people because she's good at figuring out what people are thinking/feeling and accounting for it in what she's doing at work-- that's not a good way to describe it, im realizing, but she just doesn't come across like the "usual" office worker to her peers, and theyre unwillingly to try and see her any different, so they read her as cold instead of her genuine enthusiasm and care
she's got a very good eye for color! this helps sometimes in the oldest house, because of course it does
you've heard of "kid who takes apart electronics to figure out how they work", get ready for "kid who's set up their own elaborate tank system in their room to care for and monitor all the toads they've caught, and its surprisingly thought out and researched"
she cut her hair short for practicality one summer and ended up loving how she could style it and has kept the cut ever since
not really a headcanon bc i feel like its inferred canon? but she has zero qualms speaking her mind, which is something that got her in trouble as a kid, but something she never let go of. she's always respectful in the ways that she does it, but very authoritative about it, which puts some people off
if she had the time and means she'd get a pet snake or gecko. I can see her with a crestie :')

*shakes bag of potential fic ideas*
kip do you have any Darling headcanons? Preferably how he was around Dylan?
I will share my fic ideas in return.
I do I do!! ;u;
I think he was very much like the Darling we see in his presentations-- something like a cool lecturer from college, or a neat teacher. At first this is great! I think Dylan and Darling were alike in a lot of ways. Dylan strikes me as the type who really loved learning and school and was 'a joy to have in class' and always enjoyed the positive attention, of which he gets plenty in the Bureau.
The Bureau is also like a book come to life-- Dylan's coping with witnessing murders and several fresh tragedies and uprooting life experiences that are not being addressed, so he latches onto the fantasy aspect of the Bureau hard. He's the boy in the book who gets whisked away to the magical world, but this is VERY real, and everyone is so eager to see him show off his powers. Apparently he's very interesting and powerful. And he wants to do good.
Darling just wants to help Dylan but doesnt know how, so does it in a semi-passive way, assuming things will sort themselves out and trying to spoil him-- letting him know little things he's studying and secrets, being the 'cool uncle, the 'fun dad'-- letting him stay up late or do things outside of his routine, talking to him like a peer and not a kid.
Pressure is building up on both of them immensely-- and neither of them talk about it. Dylan is just a kid who misses his family and watched his teacher die in front of him and feels responsible for a lot of events, and now all these adults are pushing him and pushing him to do more, do better, do good, in dangerous and fantastical ways. He becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, horrified of himself and despserate to become the monster they say he is, because any attention is attention, and turning every emotion and fear and panic and defense into offense is the only thing he has anymore.
Darling is trying to do good by this kid while balancing work and his friends and the Slide Projector studies and testing Dylan and rather than focus on one he distracts himself and tells himself it will all work out, never really taking responsibility except when things go wrong, and then removing himself entirely because he can't face the guilt and thinks he'll just make it all worse, pouring himself into other projects and hoping he just doesn't have to face things anymore, because its starting to sicken him. If he doesn't pay attention to it, maybe it'll go away. Maybe it'll fix itself.

Can we get some Underhill, Arish and Langston headcanons? Love those three!
of course!!
Underhill
She's not humorless-- she loves a good comedy and enjoys going out to see plays (sometimes musicals-- it really depends). She just usually has no time for it, or is happy to turn to other hobbies. She comes off as cold partially because she's just a blunt person, but also because she's used to being that way in her workplaces-- she wants to be respected and wants work to flow smoothly. Recreation can happen outside of work, and work itself can be fun (even if your idea of fun is different).
I feel like she grew up on farmland-- either visiting a relative's ranch or farm for seasons often as a child, or just straight up living on one. She's never been afraid of getting her hands dirty and is well acquainted with the care of plants and animals and the cycle of nature.
She's excellent at spotting the fantastic in the mundane-- especially outside of the Bureau. She thinks the "regular" world is just as fascinating and wild as the "paranatural" one.
Arish
New York born and raised, he's never travelled much outside of visiting family, until Bureau work and Ranger training got him bussed around some. He's really family oriented, but family isn't just blood to him.
Wears reading glasses sometimes, mostly in low-light situations. Not strictly necessary for him yet, but they're helpful.
Not a tea guy. Coffee only, thanks. Has definitely tried his share of questionable Bureau foods (and non-foods) on dares and out of boredom when hanging out with friends.
He got the security job initially as a "temporary" reassignment after the Albany mission as a junior ranger-- he kept saying he'd come back, but the trauma of the situation got to him, and he never did. He's happier with his security job.
Langston
His uncle that got him the Bureau job is retired-- technically neither are supposed to share information with each other, but they do, at least once a month. They meet up for dinner or for drinks and put on a record and talk about life and the paranatural. They're both weird (affectionate)
Arguably has one of the more involved social lives out of the core cast when it comes to life outside the Bureau, because when he's done with work, he's done with work. He clocks out and goes home to do what he loves. He's in a few clubs and active on several message boards. The Bureau does monitor his posting somewhat, and asked him to step down from his moderator status on an Alan Wake forum, but they do have him checking it for relevant information occasionally.
Pretty much always dresses like he does in game-- his idea of dressing down is not wearing a jacket, skipping the tie, and having some fun-colored socks.

I just had this headcanon that the Fadens had a cat back in Ordinary and I needed to share it with someone. Anyway what do you think Ordinary was like for Jesse and Dylan?
Yesssss, I think a staple of many childhoods should include a cat you decide is yours and make up names for and pet and spoil (even if it has several other people it calls home).
I think Jesse and Dylan lived in a very small two story house-- not in a luxury sense, but just in a "utilizing floorplan space" way. I also picture it on a lifted foundation with steep sketchy steps to get up to the front door (no porch).
I figure mom and dad both worked, maybe multiple jobs (and I can see one or both having jobs that involve some travel or commute sometimes-- delivery, construction, etc) so they would often walk themselves home or play where they wanted until dark. Lots of thrifting, yard sales, rented movie nights, tweaking the antenna just right to get certain channels. Grabbing junk they found and repurposed back in the dump-- building themselves bases and forts and drawing maps. Using the school library (just a little non-permanent trailer building) to the utmost degree. Figuring out how to get on the roof and get under the house and swearing up and down they wouldn't tell mom or dad just so they don't get banned from going there. Watching shows or movies they maybe shouldn't at their age cause dad sees them trying to spy on the tv from the upstairs banister, or cause he thinks a scene is cool. I personally don't think their parents were abusive, just accidentally neglectful-- both so busy they don't usually know what's going on with their kids, despite intention or effort.

To piggy back off the last anon ask, do you have any new headcanons for Trench and Darling? I also LOVE your headcanon posts <3
Thanks anon!! :') lemme rattle the old braincase around
Trench
He was... not mild mannered, per se, but always has been rather calm in his demeanor, but was a lot more approachable and less walled off before his daughter died. He had a good rapport with a lot of people, despite the weight of stress and his disinterest in the Director role. It's one of the first things that began nudging him toward the Trench we meet.
He likes to drive to clear his mind, especially out in the country. In NYC he opts to go for walks, instead. He would get lost sometimes, once the Hiss first infected him, during his wandering, or end up somewhere and not know how he got there.
He has a decent amount of sweaters. Dark greens or reddish browns combined with a dark pair of jeans and a belt is a common civilian clothes look for him.
When he used to read to his daughter, he wouldn't do voices for the characters, but he would act out their dialogue.
Darling
I think Darling used to ride his bike a lot to get around, both in and outside NYC. Toward the end of his university career and moving into the Bureau he dropped it nearly entirely. Outside of an audiobook or a good record at home, he doesn't do that much outside of Bureau work. He's a bit obsessed, but he loves it.
That said, he and Trench used to take unofficial time off in work a lot, squirrel away in offices or rooms with Marshall sometimes, sharing drinks and stories off the record.
He's a bit of an audiophile, and the Bureau's older technology spurred this on. He has a reel-to-reel at his apartment that's one of his prized possessions.
He fidgets a lot-- hands in hair, pulling at edges of his coat or sweater, pulling at his ear, pens and pencils getting flipped and flung, etc.

HC question: How would Control characters take care of a toddler?
I was gonna say toddler was like, 2-4, but google says its 1-2 year olds? I dispute this dsfjhskdjfh let's put that age range at 2-3
Trench is great with kids in my mind. He's sat there just watching the kid play pretend or move their toys around, occasionally adding quiet comments or answering questions (usually with a "yeah?" or "oh, I see" to blabs he can't understand). He's just very calm and seems a bit tired but really doesn't mind. Will carry them around and get them pre-made snacks from the fridge and stuff. He just has those perpetual ":/" vibes attached to him skejfhsjehf but he's soft
Darling wants to be good with kids but isn't super sure what he's doing and is trying anyway! He tries giving the kid stuff to do for 6 or 7 year olds, which is at least a bit better than babying the kid, but doesn't quite get how all to help. Doing a good job keeping up with them though! Until he suddenly isn't and is just exhausted wiped out. Would probably let the kid get into stuff they shouldnt and go "ah its fine, I'm here! I'm watching!" [kid is standing up on the table throwing things]
Marshall is a lot like Trench but more content to just sit and watch. She has her eye on the kid and makes sure they don't get into anything they shouldn't and just lets them play and keeps them corralled to one play area. Lets the kid come sit next to her once they're wore out and look at picture books until they fall asleep. Is not afraid to use more adult language around kids kjsehfkjshf
Jesse feels out of her depth and a bit anxious to look after a kid, honestly. She would rather someone else come help or do this and feels pretty awkward at first, but by the end of it shes handling it all like a champ. Probably reads to them or makes up stories or builds blocks with them. Doesn't always know how to respond to questions or kid humor but that literally never stops kids. If she could use her powers she'd probably have to just sit there and entertain them with little party tricks once the kids learned kjdshfjsdhf but I think she'd enjoy that
Dylan oh this depends so much. I think his patience at times can be really low, but I also think kids this young wouldn't be too off-put by him. Low patience for being climbed around on or too much loud noise, but something in him aches watching kids just run around and play, and would definitely be willing to just sit there on the floor and listen to them make stuff up or build stuff with them. Will end up in that feedback loop where kid brings him a book, he reads it, kid instantly grabs another book and brings it to him, repeat. Would not want to be doing this and probably uses language and tones he shouldn't and would need frequent breaks or just someone there to help him, but would overall be trustworthy and pretty decent with the right kid. In a non-FBC, non-hiss world, he'd be great with kids. Gentle yet snarky dude.
Emily looked up some specific activities or tips to do and is following those and adjusting on the fly sekjhfjksehf keeps a pretty neat schedule for the kid and generally just has like... teacher/worker vibes, I suppose? Like less like you're being babysat by a friend or young adult and more like she's a fancy daycare worker following a structured routine. Has music playing and mostly lets the kid play themselves, watching and sometimes adding comments. She overall would rather not watch kids but she's not bad at it at all.
Arish defo watched plenty of kids in his time, talks to the kid very casually ("no way that's your car??? can you make it go super fast on the ground?? let me see!") and will join in their games or pick them up and toss them around and chase them and stuff. Will joke around a bunch and do the like "uncle" thing where he sneaks the kid desserts or shows them stuff they aren't usually allowed to watch or play
Langston not used to kids at all but trying his best! Which is completely out of his depth! Hey kid please don't touch that, no you can't play with the cat like that they don't like that, uhhhh do you want some tea to drink? It's my new jazz album don't you like it? Jazz is good for babies right? Oh you-- you say you're not a baby-- that's fair. I-- I guess you can flip through this book with pictures? uh--
Underhill like your strict aunt who seems really scary but after the third trip to her place you realize she's actually pretty funny and nice, she just comes off like that. She really would rather not be watching this kid and she makes it clear but she's good at it. Makes good snacks and repeatedly asks the kid to use their inside voice and play in a specific little play area

Hi! Do you have any headcanons about the social relations with the Control characters? Like who might hang out with who, what might they do while out together, etc?
Yeah!! Sorry this took so long anon, I've been really busy lately, but I've loved thinking this over :]
I definitely think Arish is the most amicable of the bunch-- he's not shy about what he thinks, but he cares about people and is just good with them, so he can get along with and hang out with just about anyone if it comes down to it.
Given the proper room I think he could befriend Dylan pretty easily, and though I tend to write them as unlikely friends I do think it would probably mostly look like Arish being a little afraid of him but still respectful and kind and Dylan being. Dylan skdjfhskdjhf (lovingly). It just depends on the many factors involved there, I think. I am attached to the idea of them playing cards at the very least :') I can't see Dylan easily befriending anyone else, but I also think his definition of friend is going to look a bit different than everyone else's.
I definitely think Arish and Emily get along great-- both speak their minds and have similar views of practicality and the spirit of the law over the letter, and I think Arish would be happy to listen to Em and ask her questions, and Emily be fascinated by all Arish's stories and what he's seen.
Jesse and Arish are another friendship I love to think about-- they're both the "working man", the everyday person, so they both just kinda Get It-- there's an unspoken brotherhood of sorts between those two. They're the two I can most easily picture hanging out outside of work (though it's almost always a trio thing, Emily and Arish and Jesse at each other's apartments or a cafe or whatever. Arish is usually the casual hangout planner, Emily usually has very specific ideas, and Jesse gets the occasional "let's just go hike somewhere" or "urban exploring is fun" bug)
Langston and Arish strike me as work buddies-- not necessarily actually friends outside of work, but they'll enjoy chatting in the breakroom type stuff. That's about the extent of it.
I think Langston and Emily would have really fascinating conversations, but again, I can't see them really hanging out outside of work-- I don't think Emily feels a particular need to hang out with anyone (work is sorta social life for her, and she enjoys being at home or out on her own), and Langston is a weird in-between of having a decent social circle of random connections online and at places he goes to, wanting to not mix work and his social life, and sometimes feeling lonely skdjfhkdjhf
Trench, Darling, and Marshall defo all strike me as types who would end up meeting up in one of their apartments (probably not Darling's) to relax, but it just turns into them all discussing work to some degree. Darling and Trench will hang out alone, and Marshall and Trench, but not Darling and Marshall.
I'm sure there's more, but the post is already getting a bit long-- feel free to pick my brain if you'd like more, I'm always concerned I might be getting to detailed or just off the mark of what's being asked ksjdhfkdjf :')

Just watch Control 2, Dylan becomes the Director. Jesse being the director feels forced, I like it when she’s a solo.
I have a hard time picturing Dylan as director now too, tbh. I think there’s too much hurt attached there for him to be willing to do that, unless Jesse made very drastic changes or the Bureau itself changed before Dylan tried stepping in.
I could see Jesse and Dylan leaving the Bureau, or the Bureau disbanding under unique circumstances, and certain members from the Bureau staying with Jesse and Dylan— different terms, different methods, maybe not rooted in the House, maybe in and out, but less Bureau and more... something different.
Jesse is very much not a government type, so I have a feeling that will cause shifts in how the Bureau operates somehow or cause some friction, but I think Dylan would also like to distance himself from the Bureau or change it dramatically (good or bad— he has a lot of baggage to do deal with).
Jesse is concerned about the “little” average guy, and Dylan has a complicated relationship with wanting to be Director and loathing the Bureau. There’s also the question of the House as some kind of entity itself, and Ahti, and whatever he’s up to. That’ll all certainly affect the Bureau. And I think Jesse will be and continue to be a good leader, whatever and whoever she leads. I’m excited for more 👀👀👀
