Having failed to reach an understanding with Gawain or with the king and forced to flee for his life, Lancelot finds himself stumbling through the woods lost, injured and left completely alone for the first time since he can recall. As he prays for whatever deity or spirit that may be watching to come to his aid and help him save his friend, his pleas reach ears of someone entirely different and whose help does not come without a price.

(A Kniroun IV bad ending where Merlin takes Lancelot more seriously both as a threat and as an asset and adjusts his plans accordingly).

i hope you’re surviving after seeing the kniroun bromides bc i know im not 🙏🙏 been thinking about half dragon merlin sooo much lately and i know it wouldn’t fit well in the canon play but im going crazy imagining lancelot rubbing his dragon horns and merlin doing the dragon equivalent of purring or something… perhaps even swishing his tail around…? ittz makes me so unwell that im creating alternate universes for alternate universes of them im flatlining

I had a full crisis seeing those bromides yesterday. Maekawa Yuuki,, he gets Tsuzuru. He really gets it.

oh god while ranking up i’ve decided to pick back where i stopped in The Crown and i had a triple take because i recognized the actor on screen and yeah, that was Colin Morgan. I’m trying to take my mind off from kniroun only to have the OG Merlin obsession staring right back at me.

Day 6: First Favorite Play/Current Favorite Play

This play really pulled me in with the costumes and the story was really funny! All the characters were so charming! I fell in love with deep voice Misumi as the Genie. Aladdin was the best character, he only cared about dating ddffghh Ali Baba and Scherazade had impeccable banter! Its the SUMMER TROUPE of course I was gonna pick them as my first! Also, I thought it was very cute that Ali Baba and Scherazade ended up married!

(Sidenote: I went ahead and watched all the plays yesterday and today just to figure out which one I liked best now)

Dead/Undead was on top for a while but Kniroun BEAT it!! The costumes are well put together...for the most part (let's not mention Masumi's costume). I love how the video game effects were added as a nod to the source material! But most importantly, the story!! There was so much drama and twists! It took a dark turn that I wasn't expecting and it had me GLUED like when I watched it the first time! The fact that Merlin was the villain when he looked so unassuming is top tier. I LOVE that trope! AND the bond between Gawain and Gareth was so sweet!! They didn't know each other for long but they still cared deeply and considered each other family! It hit me really hard when Gareth died. I felt like my heart got ripped apart :(

Izumi: (The stage is set in medieval Brittania. The story begins with a conversion between Lancelot and the fairy Gwen.)

Lancelot: “Are you interested, Gwen?”

Izumi: (Itaru-san is alone on stage. Although Gwen doesn’t exist in reality, she’s expressed only by the lighting and Itaru-san’s acting…)

Lancelot: “I know. I won’t talk to you when we’re in front of people. I’ll just be treated as a weirdo.”

Audience A: Wow….

Izumi: (By facing Gwen with a soft expression, the guests become captivated as well. With that, it puts everyone in the world of KniRoun without feeling out of place.)

Izumi: (During his journey, Lancelot, who’s aiming for King Arthur’s castle, sees Gawain being attacked by a demon.)

Lancelot: “I’ll assist you!”

Gawain: “I don’t know where you’ve come from, but I’m in your debt….!”

Izumi: (Chikage-san’s athletic skill is high, and his sword fighting is better than before--)

Gawain: “Haaa!”

Izumi: (There’s charm suited for the stage in his movements, more than ever before. The quality of the slashes stand out, and has a nice feeling looking at it.)

Izumi: (The two of them go on a journey together. Lancelot opens up his heart to Gawain, who is able to accept Gwen’s existence without any worriesーー)

Gawain: “Can you see something?”

Lancelot: “.......” “I can see something… If I said that, it’d feel unpleasant, right?”

Gawain: “Haha, you’re the same as my pet cat. Now that I think about it, you kind of resemble it a little.”

Lancelot: “A cat?”

Izumi: (The process of the two of them reaching out to each other little by little has to be shown in a short amount of time on stage, butーー)

Gawain: “Well, there’s many things I’m unable to see. I don’t really mind.”

Lancelot: “You’re strange.”

Izumi: (With their movements and the atmosphere, the changes in the sense of distance between the two of them is steadily conveyed.)

Izumi: (In order to cure the king’s illness, Lancelot and Gawain go on a journey to look for the “Holy Chalice.) (During their journey, they meet a young man, Gareth, and learn he is Gawain’s long-lost brother.)

Gareth: “T-This is… Apparently the household crest of my father, who left when I was a child. My mother entrusted this sword to me when I left….”

Gawain: “That’s my household’s crest.”

Gareth: “Huh!?”

Lancelot: “What do you mean by that?”

Gareth: “Then, my father is…”

Gawain: “To think I’d encounter my half-sibling in a place like this.” “You have my thanks, Lancelot. I’m constantly being helped by you.”

Arthur: “It’s said that with Merlin’s magic, Gwen can become a human. If that’s true, then there’s the possibility that she’ll also become my wife.”

Lancelot: “Gwen becoming the king’s wife….!?”

“If you go against Gwen’s wishes, you’ll anger her mother, the Lady of the Lake.”

Arthur: “It has already been decided.”

Lancelot: “Your Majesty….!”

Izumi: (His dignity as the king is incredible. Thanks to that, Lancelot’s anguish deepens when he turns his back on the king whom he swore an oath to, increasing the depth of the story.)

Izumi: (When Gwen proposes running away to Lancelot, Gawain, loyal to the king, is confronted by the other knights.) When Gwen is half-transformed into a human, a fight breaks out at the ritual site, and amidst the confusion, Gareth loses his life at Lancelot’s side.)

Gareth: “I-I’m fine! P-Please, hurry and take Gwen… I’m fine!”

Lancelot: “.....gh, I’m sorry. You’re a true knight.”

*Itaruns off screen*

Gareth: “T-Thank you…”

Gawain: “Gareth! Gareth, hang on!”

Gareth: “Brother… I’m glad I was able to become a knight….”

Audience B: *sobbing*

Izumi: (Gareth dies without holding a grudge against Lancelot and Gwen. He smiles in his last moments, gripping the hearts of the audience.) (This Gareth has an ephemeral expression, a different vibe from Masumi’s usual Gareth, as if he were Gareth himself.)

Arthur: “What is the meaning of this, Mordred?”

Mordred: “Uncle, I’ve been aiming to dispose of you for a long time.”

Gawain: “How did you accomplish a rebellion so quickly….?”

Merlin: “With my magic, this much isn’t difficult at all.”

Arthur: “Merlin!” [1]

Gawain: “No way, even you’ve become a traitorー”

Merlin: “I thought I could use this one better than Arthur.”

Izumi: (Both Sakuya-kun and Tsuzuru-kun had difficulty performing villainous roles well in the previous performance, but this time, it looks like they’re enjoying themselves with ease. It’s quite solid.) (Peace returns to the castle and Gawain slashes at Lancelot. In their last scene together….)

Gawain: “ーーHaa!”

*slashes*

Lancelot: “ーーgh.”

Arthur: “What are you doing, Gawain.”

Gawain: “I told you I still haven’t forgiven you, didn’t I?”

Lancelot: “.....”

Gawain: “But, that doesn’t change the fact that you are my friend.”

Lancelot: “Gawain….”

Gawain: “I’ll take you to see Gareth. I’m sure he’ll be happy.”

Lancelot: “.....”

Izumi: (Up until here, the exchanges, sword fighting, everything was in sync. Because of their every day relationship, it’s gotten even better than before!)

Tonooka: Nice work. Because Hoshii was very busy, he went home early, but he was in a very pleasant mood. “Thank you for making me interested in theatre, as well as making me feel like I was on a journey together with you,” is what he said.

Sakuya: You did it, Itaru-san!

Itaru: ーーHell yeah, I feel like something good might come out if I pull the gacha right now.

Tsuzuru: Eh, you’re gonna pull the gacha looking like Lancelot?

Masumi: He’s a hopeless game freak.

Citron: Speaking of which, you still haven’t pulled, Itaru?

Itaru: Not excessively. ーーNow then. Enter the stage, SSR.....! [2]

Sakuya: That’s great, Itaru-san!

Day 5/7 of the A3! and You meme

What about recasting [a play] with a different troupe?

This is surprisingly tricky. Best I can do is a “would be fun if they also gave it a shot”, but I wouldn’t rather they replace the original cast entirely, who are already perfectly placed. Also, due to pic limitations artistic direction, KNIROUN will now be set in Japan instead of Britain! Itaru's gonna kill me for this...

Explanation under the cut. Nowhere near as long as Scarlet Mirror though, just a few notes. The casting got obvious for this one.

Knights of Round IV THE STAGE: Summer Troupe edition

Misumi Ikaruga as Lancelot (original cast: Itaru Chigasaki) The fight scenes, bro. Imagine the fight scenes. Lancelot has a lotta stage time, and a lotta fight scenes, and Misumi has the moves and the energy for it.

Kazunari Miyoshi as Gawain (original cast: Chikage Utsuki) I think the Kazu-Sumi dynamic is gonna colour the Lancelot-Gawain one nicely, especially for the poignant moments towards the ending. Also, huh, it seems I'm making Kazu the deuteragonist yet again!

Yuki Rurikawa as Merlin (original cast: Tsuzuru Minagi) I think Yuki would make a very striking Merlin; one you wouldn’t see coming until it was too late. And he can surely pull off the “vaguely otherworldly and magical” vibe required from the role!

Tenma Sumeragi as King Arthur (original cast: Citron) Yuki probably has some choice words about this casting, heh. But Tenma has the charisma and the versatility for Arthur, especially for the climax of the play.

Muku Sakisaka as Gareth (original cast: Masumi Usui) Gareth ought to be a diamond in the rough a shiny piece of coal, who seems meek and mild but really harbours a strong chivalric spirit. Naturally, Muku is the perfect match.

Kumon Hyodo as Mordred (original cast: Sakuya Sakuma) I think Kumon has the young, energetic, somewhat impulsive vibe that would be very well suited for Mordred. And I feel his Big Brother Worship can make it easier for him to phase into a knightly role: just substitute his onstage liege for Juchan!

So, yeah. Basically just flipping everyone onto whatever roles are closest to their offstage personalities, heh. More comedic and high-energy than the original, as with the Summer Troupe trademark; I’d rather keep it in its original Arthurian setting, but finding the right pics (without ripping The Floral Knight wholesale) was harder than expected, hence the Japanese theme. But KNIROUN is the best I can do for a recast; the plays are already crafted for their particular casts, so it’s tough trying to switch them with other troupes and styles.
