X-Raid confirma alineación de cuatro autos para el Dakar 2023: Przygonski y Halpern con el Plus T1+, Krotov y Al-Qassimi con el Buggy
El equipo X-Raid buscará prenderse en el Dakar 2023 con un nuevo auto que pretende que vuelvan a pelear los primeros puestos, luego de que el último par de años privilegiaran en alineación al Q Motorsport con el proyecto de Audi. Esta temporada X-Raid llega al Dakar con un nuevo auto cumpliendo la normativa T1+ con una alineación de duplas veloces en Kuba Przygonski y Armand Monleón y el argentino Sebastián Halpern con Ronnie Graue llevando el debut del MINI JCW Rally Plus. Además, el fiable y querido MINI JCW Buggy volverá una nueva edición tratando de meterse entre los primeros pero sin la reglamentación T1+: Khalid Al-Qassimi y Ola Floene pilotarán la primera unidad con Denis Krotov y Konstantin Zhiltsov en la segunda.
X-Raid cumple 20 años en el Rally Cross Country y buscará sumar otro gran resultado a su potente historia donde han ganado seis ediciones del Dakar en 2012, 2013 (Peterhansel), 2014 (Roma), 2015 (Al-Attiyah), 2020 (Sainz) y 2021 (Peterhansel).
Kuba Przygonski es la principal carta del X-Raid de cara a este Dakar y el polaco llega con nuevo navegante en Armand Monleón que viene de ser el copiloto de Lucio Álvarez en el Dakar 2022 y el Mundial de Cross Country donde ganaron el Rally de Kasajistán. Antes, Monleón fue navegante de Gerard Farrés en los SSV. Przygonski, ex-motard que llegó a ser P6 en motos en 2014, viene compitiendo en los autos desde 2016 y acumula ya 5 Top 10 en 7 participaciones con mejor resultado de cuarto en 2019 y 2021. En 2022 pilotando un MINI JCW Buggy del X-Raid fue sexto, un resultado bastante notable considerando que el Buggy estaba en desventaja mecánica con los T1+.
El mendocino Sebastián Halpern buscará mejorar el octavo puesto del Dakar 2022, donde también corrió con el Buggy en desigualdad mecánica. Después de iniciar su carrera en los Quads donde llegó a ser segundo en 2011, Halpern se pasó a los autos donde consiguió la novena posición con un programa privado en 2018. Desde entonces estuvo fuera de la competencia hasta regresar junto al probado navegante Ronnie Graue en 2022, también entrenando en el Mundial de Cross Country.
El Dakar 2023 comienza dentro de 11 días, el 31 de diciembre en Arabia Saudita.

Sainz & Cruz Victorious at 2020 Dakar Rally
Carlos Sainz (ESP) and his co-driver Lucas Cruz (ESP) have won the Rally Dakar for the third time, having previously triumphed in 2010 and 2018. In doing so, they presented MINI with its fifth overall victory at the iconic endurance rally.
For MINI and MINI Motorsport partner X-raid, this was the first success since their winning run together, which lasted from 2012 to 2015. The Spanish pair, in the MINI John Cooper Works Buggy, finished 6:21 minutes ahead of last year’s winner Nasser Al-Attiyah (QAT) after roughly 7,500 kilometers through Saudi Arabia, which was hosting the Dakar for the first time.
Dakar record winner Stéphane Peterhansel (FRA) and his co-driver Paulo Fiuza (POR) finished third, 9:58 minutes behind Sainz and Cruz, to round off an impressive performance from the two MINI JCW Buggies. The two MINI JCW Buggy crews each won four stages, while MINI vehicles went fastest on a total of nine of the twelve days. Vaidotas Zala (LTU) / Saulius Jurgelenas (LTU), in a MINI JCW Rally, won the very first Dakar stage on Arabian soil on the opening day.
Seven of the nine MINI crews that started the rally reached the finish in Al-Quiddia (KSA), four of them in the top ten. Orlando Terranova (ARG) and Bernardo ‘Ronnie’ Graue (ARG) finished in the top three on three days on their way to sixth place overall in the four-wheel drive MINI JCW Rally. Local favourite Yasir Seaidan (KSA) and his co-driver Alexey Kuzmich (RUS) were ninth and finished an excellent second on the closing stage. Jakub ‘Kuba’ Przygonski (POL) and co-driver Timo Gottschalk (GER) had their hopes of a top result dashed on the opening day when a technical issue resulted in them losing six hours. They eventually finished in 19th place, 8:35.18 seconds off the lead.
MINI vehicles topped the overall standings after every one of the twelve legs at the 40th staging of the Dakar Rally. Zala and Jurgelenas got the ball rolling with victory on the opening stage, after which Terranova and Graue took the overall lead on day two. Sainz and Cruz claimed their first stage win on the third leg. That victory took them to the top of the overall standings – a position they held right through to the finish.

Jakub “Kuba” Przygonski (POL) and Timo Gottschalk (GER) have won the Dubai International Baja, round two of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Bajas, in a MINI John Cooper Works Buggy. Second place on both stages proved sufficient to earn the X-raid duo overall victory.
Since switching from motorcycle to car, Przygonski had raced only in the four-wheel drive MINI. The first time the Pole climbed into the two-wheel drive MINI JCW Buggy was for the Shakedown at the Dubai International Baja.
His co-driver Gottschalkwas familiar with the car from the 2018 Dakar Rally.

Peterhansel ganó en Abu Dhabi con Audi RS Q e-Tron
El piloto francés Stéphane Peterhansel le dio al Audi RS Q e-Tron su primer triunfo en esta nueva era de Rally Raid.
El prototipo impulsado con energía eléctrica se mostró muy sólido en el Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2022. Sebastien Loeb, por su parte, es el líder del Mundial FIA, con un punto de ventaja sobre Nasser Al-Attiyah, ganador de las últimas cuatro etapas.
La segunda fecha del Campeonato Mundial FIA de Rally Raid tuvo un solo dominador en la clasificación general de autos: desde la primera etapa, luego del abandono de Al-Attiyah, fue Stephane Peterhansel quien comandó las acciones.
Pese a no conseguir el triunfo en ninguna de las restantes especiales, el francés logró administrar la diferencia conseguida en ese primer parcial donde Nasser debió retirarse.
Aun así, el catarí no se rindió y apostó a ganar las siguientes etapas al reengancharse. Así, sumó 20 puntos extra que le permiten seguir prendido a la lucha por el campeonato, que había comenzado en enero de 2022 con el Rally Dakar que Nasser ganó.
Con estos resultados, Sebastien Loeb comanda el campeonato con 112 puntos, en tanto que Al-Attiyah lo escolta con 111. El tercer lugar es de Yazeed Al-Rajhi. El saudí suma 71 unidades tras concluir en el puesto 6 en Abu Dhabi, también sufriendo problemas que lo hicieron retrasarse en la carrera.
Volviendo a los resultados del Desert Challenge, el segundo puesto lo ocupó un sorprendente Martin Prokop, en tanto que Jakub Przygonski completó el top 3, justo por delante de Sébastien Loeb que culminó en cuarto puesto a bordo de su Hunter BRX.
El que tuvo un buen rendimiento esta semana fue Sebastián Helpern, manteniéndose en el top 5 de la general. Sin embargo, el argentino tuvo problemas en la última etapa y quedó 8º en la carrera, por detrás del francés Mathieu Serradori.
La próxima fecha del Campeonato Mundial FIA de Rally Raid 2022 será en Kazajistán del 25 al 30 de abril.

Overall standings #Dakar2020 motorcycles and cars after stage 8. The motorcycle and quad competitors remained in the bivouac today, following the death of motorcyclist Paulo Gonçalves yesterday.Today’s eighth stage, around the bivouac in Wadi Al Dawasir, shook up the timesheets at the Dakar 2020. Orlando “Orly” Terranova and Bernardo “Ronnie” Graue (both ARG) finished third in the MINI John Cooper Works Rally, behind Mathieu Serradori and Fernando Alonso. Jakub “Kuba” Przygonski (POL) and Timo Gottschalk (GER) ended the stage in sixth place.
The Bahrain JCW X-raid Team crew of Stéphane Peterhansel (FRA) and Paulo Fiuza (POR) cameback ninth in the MINI JCW Buggy. Their team-mates Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz were 13th. Although Sainz still holds the overall lead, ahead of Al-Attiyah and Peterhansel, today’s results have seen the gaps between the top three come down.

X-Raid presenta al MINI John Copper Works Rally Plus y comienza el asalto a los T1+
El preparador alemán X-Raid no se ha querido quedar atrás de la nueva reglamentación de los T1+ y después de un año de desarrollo ha lanzado hoy su nueva arma para esta categoría principal del Mundial de Rally Raid FIA W2RC y el Dakar: El MINI John Cooper Works Rally Plus. Será pilotado en tres semanas por Kuba Przygonski y Sebastián Halpern en el primer año del auto en el Dakar.
Según X-Raid, el MINI JCW Rally Plus combina lo mejor de dos mundos, tomando elementos del MINI JCW Buggy y del MINI JCW Rally que lleva más de 10 años siendo referencia en el Dakar. El auto es 4x4 pero toma elementos aerodinámicos y de diseño del Buggy. El auto incorpora mejoras aerodinámicas, de suspensión y amortiguadores sobre el JCW Rally además de los neumáticos de mayor aro gracias a la reglamentación T1+. Por otra parte se ha trabajado en el motor para controlar la potencia a través de electrónica en lugar de flujo de aire lo que permitirá mayor eficiencia en el consumo y las emisiones.
El nuevo MINI JCW Rally Plus también se suma a los otros equipos que están trabajando en un Dakar sustentable y será propulsado por un combustible sintético de segunda generación llamado HVO que está basado en aceites vegetales y botellas plásticas.

En el futuro, el automovilismo tendrá que acostumbrarse al hecho de que sin sostenibilidad no habrá más automovilismo. En este sentido, era claramente una cuestión del corazón para nosotros que operaremos el noveno MINI de manera más sostenible. Con HVO estamos ingresando a un nuevo territorio para la escena del cross country y estoy ansioso por presentar nuestra última incorporación a la familia, el MINI JCW Rally Plus con cambios aerodinámicos significativos.” concluyó Sven Quandt, CEO de X-Raid. “En nuestra opinión, el combustible HVO es un complemento importante para otros sistemas de propulsión de bajas emisiones, y no solo en los deportes de motor. Első helyen érkezik Magyarországra a MINI John Cooper Works Rally
2018 augusztusában ismét hazánkba látogat az FIA Cross Country Világkupa mezőnye: a Hungarian Baja jubileumi, immáron tizenötödik felvonását augusztus 9-12-e között rendezik meg a Dunántúlon. Érkezik a MINI John Cooper Works Rally.
Az ünnepélyes megnyitóra augusztus 10-én, pénteken este kerül sor a veszprémi Óváros téren. Az idei verseny három etapból áll, a versenyzők az erdős, sziklás és murvás terepeken összesen 652,32 kilométert tesznek meg. A szombat reggeli rajtsorrendet a péntek esti, mindössze 11,5 kilométer hosszú időmérő etap eredménye határozza meg.
A magyarországi fordulóra tabellaelsőként érkezik a MINI John Cooper Works Rally versenyautó lengyel pilótája, Jakub „Kuba” Przygonski, aki jelenlegi 237 pontjával az FIA Cross Country Világkupa ez évi mezőnyében 52 pontos előnyt őriz. Navigátora, a belga Tom Colsoul oldalán Przygonski ezúttal is győzelemre tör majd, hogy négy versennyel a szezon vége előtt értékes pontokkal növelje előnyét.
A második MINI John Cooper Works Rally versenyautóban a spanyol Joan „Nani” Roma és az ugyancsak spanyol Alex Haro párosa foglal helyet, amely duó a 2018-as Silk Way Rally hét etapjából hatszor a legjobb öt között végzett, és ezzel jelentős lépést tett a Rali Világkupa abszolút élmezőnye felé vezető úton.
„A Hungarian Baja soha nem egy egyszerű mutatvány. A 2018-as világkupa-győzelemért folyó küzdelem ráadásul egyre intenzívebb, hiszen egyre kisebb a rés az élmezőny tagjai között. Szerintem ugyanakkor kifejezetten jó, hogy nem minden futamot egy pilóta nyer meg, mert így minden pontért keményen meg kell dolgoznunk. A Hungarian Baja idén is egy óriási katonai területen zajlik majd, amely a tankokkal megedzett talaj okán plusz kihívásokat jelent nekünk” – nyilatkozta Jakub „Kuba” Przygonski.
„Kifejezetten élvezem, hogy az Oroszországban leintett Silk Way Rally után néhány nappal ismét autóba ülhetünk. A Hungarian Baja egy nagyszerű felvonás, 2013-ban sikerült megnyernem. Rendkívül izgalmassá teszi a futamot, hogy csupa olyan ellenféllel állunk majd szemben, akik a Rali Világkupa arany serlegéért folyó küzdelemben is az élen állnak. Carlos Sainz (E) se spolujezdcem Lucasem Cruzem (E) navázali letošním vítězstvím v Dakar Rally na dvojici předchozích triumfů v letech 2010 a 2018. Pro MINI letošní vítězství znamená již pátý triumf v tomto ikonickém vytrvalostním závodě. Pro MINI a partnera MINI Motorsport – tým X-raid – to byl první společný úspěch po triumfech v letech 2012 až 2015. Španělská dvojice jedoucí s buginou MINI John Cooper Works Buggy měla v cíli 7500 kilometrů dlouhé soutěže, která se jela poprvé v Saúdské Arábii, náskok 6 minut a 21 minut na loňského vítěze Nassera Al-Attiyaha (QAT).
Rekordman v počtu vítězství na „Dakaru“, Stéphane Peterhansel (F), se svým spolujezdcem Paulem Fiuzou (P) dojeli se ztrátou 9:58 minuty na Sainze s Cruzem na třetím místě, a tím dokázali působivé schopnosti dvojice bugin MINI JCW. Každá ze dvou posádek jedoucích s MINI JCW Buggy vyhrála čtyři etapy, přičemž vozy MINI zajely v celkem devíti etapách z dvanácti nejrychlejší časy. Vůbec první rychlostní zkoušku na Arabském poloostrově vyhrála s vozem MINI JCW Rally posádka Vaidotas Zala (LTU)/Saulius Jurgelenas (LTU).
Sedm z devíti posádek MINI, které startovaly na Dakar Rally, dojelo až do cíle v Al-Quiddia, čtyři z nich dokonce skončily v první desítce. Orlando Terranova (ARG) a Bernardo „Ronnie“ Graue (ARG) dojeli na své cestě k celkovému šestému místu s vozem MINI JCW Rally ve třech etapách mezi prvními třemi. Na devátém místě dojela posádka Yasir Seaidan (KSA) se spolujezdcem Alexeyem Kuzmichem (RUS), kteří byli v poslední etapě na vynikajícím druhém místě. Jakub „Kuba“ Przygonski (PL) a Timo Gottschalk (D) museli na své sny o dobrém umístění zapomenout hned během prvního dne, kdy je potkaly technické potíže, které je stály šest hodin času. Nakonec skončili na 19. místě se ztrátou 8.35:18.
Vozy MINI byly ve vedení 40. dakarské rally po všech dvanácti etapách. Zala a Jurgelenas zajistili vedení MINI již po první etapě, po druhé etapě se z prvního místa těšili Terranova a Graue. Sainz a Cruz zaznamenali své první vítězství v etapě číslo tři, což je vyneslo na první místo průběžné klasifikace, které si pak udrželi až do konce soutěže.

Carlos Sainz: „Jsem moc a moc šťastný. Tolik tvrdé práce, psychického tréninku a testování s týmem přineslo tento vynikající výsledek. Pro nás řidiče je tento závod fantastický, ale musíte intenzivně pracovat již od prvního dne. Možná se to nezdá, ale tuto soutěž jsme jeli doslova naplno od samotného začátku. Právě teď si chci jen užívat náš úspěch.“
Stéphane Peterhansel: „Byl to pro mě tak trochu starý Dakar. Až na poslední chvíli jsme se rozhodli vyměnit spolujezdce a pak jsme s Paulem Fiuzou nastoupili přímo do závodu. Jsem šťastný za tento výsledek. Byli jsme třetí, což je lepší umístění, než jsme na startu očekávali. Chlapci vpředu byli velmi rychlí a nedělali žádné chyby v navigaci. My jsme dělali, co bylo v našich silách.“
Bend Körber – ředitel MINI: „Jménem celé rodiny MINI bych chtěl pogratulovat Carlosi Sainzovi, Lucasu Cruzovi a celému týmu X-raid k vítězství v letošní dakarské rallye. Současně bych chtěl poblahopřát také Stéphanu Peterhanselovi a Paulu Fiuzovi k jejich umístění na stupních vítězů. Bohužel tento úspěch poněkud zastínily tragické nehody Paula Gonçalvese a Edwina Stravera, které nás velmi zasáhly. Naši jezdci a tým X-raid předvedli v Saúdské Arábii, která dakarskou rally hostila vůbec poprvé, vynikající výkony. Tyto výsledky jsou také odměnou za jejich intenzivní práci v rámci příprav. MINI John Cooper Works Buggy ukázalo, že je v náročném a neznámém terénu velmi rychlé a spolehlivé. Celkově páté vítězství MINI v Dakar Rally a první od roku 2015 pro nás všechny znamená velmi mnoho.“
Sven Quandt – ředitel X-raid: „Jsme doslova nadšení z vynikajícího výsledku celého týmu. Neočekávali jsme, že dojedeme na prvním a třetím místě. Byl to fantastický závod s mnoha souboji o vedení. Carlos a Stéphane předvedli vynikající výkony. Výkonnost našich vozů MINI JCW byla fantastická. Jsme nadšeni, že se nám po tolika letech opět s vozy MINI podařilo v Dakaru zvítězit. Skutečnost, že čtyři vozy MINI skončily v první desítce a sedm z nich mezi nejlepšími dvaceti, ukazuje na jejich mimořádnou spolehlivost. Děkuji celému týmu a všem, kteří věřili v náš úspěch a podpořili nás, to platí zejména pro MINI a naše partnery.“

Carlos Sainz remonta para conseguir la victoria en la Etapa 1 del Dakar 2023
Carlos Sainz señaló ayer que no iba a contestar las declaraciones de Nasser Al-Attiyah. Lo hizo perfectamente en pista, en un día donde Al-Attiyah no fue especialmente competitivo y Sainz remontó una desventaja de más de 3 minutos luego de un pinchazo en los primeros kilómetros del día para conseguir su victoria de etapa N°47 y la quinta de Audi en el Dakar. Sainz es el nuevo líder de la general por 10 segundos sobre Sebastien Loeb.
Audi tuvo el dominio de esta especial, pero no fue precisamente con Sainz que comenzó una remontada fuerte en los últimos 150 kilómetros. Mattias Ekstrom lideró la mayor parte del día aprovechando su buena posición de salida tras ganar el prólogo. Finalmente se quedó a solo 47 segundos de un nuevo triunfo de etapa, pero eso fue suficiente para terminar tercero.
Sebastien Loeb mantuvo el ritmo de Ekstrom durante todo el día, pero tampoco pudo resistir la remontada de Sainz y quedó P2 a 23 segundos. Yazeed Al-Rajhi, Guerlain Chicherit y Vaidotas Zala cerraron el Top 6 en lo que fue un buen día también para Prodrive. Brian Baragwanath fue P7 y escaló a la P6 general con el Century.
En tanto, tanto Nasser Al-Attiyah como Stephane Peterhansel tendrán que remontar luego de una etapa difícil. Nasser quedó P8 a 7:19 y Mr. Dakar la sufrió un poco más en el cierre y fue P11 a 8:54.

Video: Rally Driver Kuba Przygonski Tests the New MINI Cooper SE
MINI confirmed a while back that their new all-electric model will be based on the 3-door hatch we love today. They also confirmed its full name will be MINI Cooper SE and that the powertrain will be shared with the BMW i3 S, along with other things. Basically, the only thing MINI didn’t tell us yet are the performance specs and how it drives. For that, they got their Dakar Rally pilot, Kuba Przygonski to do a couple of test runs with the car and share some insight.
Kuba is well known in the rally world. He has been racing with MINI’s X-Raid teams for quite some time now, including at this year’s Dakar rally. He actually came in fourth overall in the car rankings, which is not a bad result at all. He was invited to drive the electric MINI Cooper SE and, instead of talking about it, he just gestured in front of the camera which actually turned out to be quite a good idea.
One of the things that defines a car and how it feels is the way it makes us behave or interact with it. If you press on the acceleration pedal and you instantly get a big smile on your face then you know that’s a fun car to throw around. It’s exactly what’s happening here with Kuba flashing a big smile the moment he sets off. The rest of the experience seems pretty good too, throwing the car into some tight bends and just having fun.
In the end though, there was a drawback he pointed out: everything was too silent for his taste. And we can definitely understand that as his usual MINI rally car is a diesel monster that could probably wake up the dead with its engine. Nevertheless, his smile made us even more curious as to how the new MINI drives.
