I remember someone saying the reason the Older!Cast was hired before the younger was because they intended to start the show off right at the beginning of the Dance. Personally I think if they’d done this and played a little bit more into who these characters were in Fire & Blood the show would’ve been a lot darker but fandom would’ve been more equally split between Team Black and Team Green.
Yeah they did originally plan on the later start, and I was like you and believed that if they had started later and stuck closer to the books the fandom would be more even, but now I’m not so sure.
Even with the sh*tty writing for Team Green(making Aegon into a literal rapist when Mushroom who wasn’t even there and isn’t even on the show was the only one who was the only one who claimed this in F&B), they are still sympathetic.
I mean how can you not feel bad after seeing a teenage Alicent getting raped by an old crusty man twice her age or a child Aemond when his own father showed next to no sympathy for him when he lost his literal eye. Helaena hasn’t done anything wrong and yet some people hate her(and her kids). Criston is not nearly as bad as Daemon and yet he’s hated(I think this one is probably partially due to racism, but it’s not my culture so I won’t really speak on it🤷🏽‍♀️).
And yes, Aegon is a rapist, he’s an awful person, and he should not be king, but Daemon(he’s my fave, I overlook a lot of his bs, so you know if I’m saying this it must be true) is literally just as bad as him yet he has 10x the number of fans.
I’m low key shocked at how little fans Aegon has. Seriously everyone hates him.
Yes, Rhaenyra is a woman and she’s “oppressed” (again about as oppressed as Missy Anne is, but I’m not supposed to say that because her psychotic fans don’t want to be reminded about the fact that they are stanning a racist self-centered Karen since they like to pretend they are champions of “feminism”), but the Greens are not this group of over-privileged monsters that Dumbnyra stans are making them out to be.
Yes, I said Dumbnyra stans and not Team Black. Honestly, it’s not Team Black because everyone who doesn’t exclusively stan the patron saint of white feminism (and want Daemon to be her lap dog otherwise they’ll turn on him too) is relatively nice.
Anyway, I’m probably getting off track, but this show has managed to attract the worst fans from GOT(which I guess isn’t surprising due to the sh*tty quality of the show). Unsurprisingly these fans gravitate towards Team Black because in real life they are probably like their Queen(that or they wish they had the power to burn anyone who disagrees with them alive).
Maybe you are right that if the show was actually unbiased and had better writing we’d see a fifty-fifty split among fans, but unless this show starts to be unbiased we’ll never know 🤷🏽‍♀️

haven’t read the books either but yeah i agree with most of what you said! love olivia cooke and maybe the way she played alicent more coldly made sense but we wouldn’t know bc we didn’t get to see any of that development (other than alicents green dress moment in ep 5). alicent is the only character i like on the greens and that’s why i don’t understand ppl who are team green bc pretty much all the ppl surrounding her are terrible people. otto pimped her out to the king pretty much and she’s getting abused by larys and the only person truly loyal to her is criston and who really wants him on their side? but yeah I think the reason nothing happens after she cuts rhaenyra is because viserys’ whole thing was to have goodwill and get along and move on from the conflict and like aemond (who is also the king’s child) literally lost an eye and nothing happened, esp because they’re all royal and they’re all family. with aemond i think he’s interesting in that he went out and claimed vhagar and seems to take studying and training seriously, but also in ep 7 he seemed like he was trying to be nice to jace and even in ep 6 he was more sympathetic because he was being made fun of and stuff but as soon as he claimed vhagar he was completely different and awful to the baela, I think he said ‘maybe your cousins can find you a pig to ride, it would suit you’ and baela hit him (or tried to?) and he hit back. the cruelty of his words and actions was surprising and sudden and I guess it could be showing how quickly power got to his head? Similar to aegon not wanting to be king until he heard the cheers. It feels like aemond is very hellbent on vengeance and also never feeling weak again. but i don’t blame alicent for kind of going crazy in ep 7 and attacking with the dagger, I think for her, someone who’s followed what she was told to do for her whole life and been miserable, it’s hard to see someone constantly getting away with things with no consequences and if your husband tells you to have goodwill after your sons eye is cut? I feel like anger is a natural response. And she regretted it instantly because she’s not used to not being in control or doing something that isn’t right and proper. Sorry this is so long! honestly could write way more abt alicent bc he character is v interesting to me with how stuck she is even when she does have power. Also yeah the show tried to make rhaenyra and alicent both likeable and warm but lowkey feel like they did that more with rhaenyra like she’s very clearly the main character we’re meant to like. I guess it’s also because they’re both women and they need some sort of softness/warmth to be likeable
yeah I definitely see what you mean about aemond’s sudden shift too. I actually didn’t dislike him until I met some of his stans on tumblr bc while I think aemond is to blame for the fight he lost his eye in (which is why I have no sympathy that he lost it) and you could even argue that baela is to blame (which id disagree with but it is a fair argument), there’s no way on earth that it’s fair to say jace and luke are to blame when they didn’t hit first, were only defending baela and rhaena, and aemond tried to kill one of them with a brick. but then you get on tumblr with people going “uwu aemond and aegon are sweet lil babies who never did anything wrong.” and it leaves such a sour taste in my mouth.
yeah, I don’t hate all of the greens. I thought adult!alicent was very petty and annoying in some scenes but overall I don’t think she’s evil. and helaena is one of my faves. but the rest of the greens are disgusting r*pists or abusers and I just??? don’t get the support?? and to be absolutely clear, I also hate some people on the blacks like daemon, who I can’t stand at all.
