Manga Review: Train Man - Net Development, the Love Story of a Local Train - 9/10
Tumblr media
*Mild Spoilers Ahead*
Proper romance themed seinen manga are hard to come by. Oftentimes, seinen categorized under the romance genre are primarily other kinds of stories that happen to have one or two romantic themes within them. Slow slice of life stories with romantic subtext, comedies that use a character’s crush as a catalyst for further jokes, eroticas and ecchis that use love as an excuse to throw beautiful half naked women at the main character. I do not mean to belittle those kinds of stories nor those that read them, but I would like to point out that more often than not, they don’t focus on being love stories. Train Man, however, is a love story.
Only once in a blue moon is there a seinen romance stories with a capital R, that are marketed towards young men and focus primarily on the characters’ romantic development. Precisely what makes Train Man so remarkable is that it is one such love story with a premise that feels completely grounded while still being truly unique.
Train Man is based on the supposedly true story of a young man intervening when a drunk began harassing several women on a train. The young man chronicled the story on the forum site 2channel and explained how one of the women mailed him an expensive gift in thanks. Online readers dubbed the young man “Train Man'' for his heroism and the woman “Hermes'' for the expensive brand name of the gift she sent the young man. The titular “Train Man” began harboring a crush on “Hermes,” and at the encouragement of those online, invited her to meetups which eventually culminated in the two dating. Regardless of whether or not the story told by these posts were true, it captured the hearts and minds of enough readers that it prompted several media adaptations, this manga being one of them.
There are plenty of manga about two people going from strangers to lovers due to random happenstance. But you’d be hard pressed to find anything quite like Train Man. Its story centers on a man who has an entire online community of strangers united around their desire to give him advice and encouragement as he attempts to court his crush.
A major part of what makes this story resonate, especially today, is that it puts the spotlight on how the internet can facilitate positive social interaction, particularly between total strangers. In our day and age, you can go on any forum website and you’ll find countless tight knit communities like the one that forms around our protagonist. Go on any question board and you’ll find people just like our protagonist, looking for real life advice, even if that advice is from anonymous strangers. You’ll also find anonymous strangers looking to help, trying to give useful advice, and genuinely rooting for the questioner’s success.
What also makes the online community depicted in this manga remarkable is that it acts as an in-universe “real life audience” reacting to the protagonist. In this way, it is reminiscent of the movie the Truman Show, where an audience of real ordinary people watch and react to the life of the protagonist. The major point of difference is in the fact that this audience can speak directly to our protagonist via an internet forum which allows them to act as a very literal audience surrogate in a way that adds an interesting dynamic to the story. How many times have you watched a TV show or read a book and wished the characters could hear your voice and hear your advice? Well, this anonymous audience of everyday people advises the ML to act on his feelings as his courage in turn inspires his audience. Something I loved about this manga and wished it did more of was show how the online readers were encouraged to work on themselves as they watched the protagonist take their encouragement to heart to work on himself.
Speaking of self improvement, the emphasis on such work is what keeps this manga from wandering into the realm of wish fulfillment. The male lead realizes that one good deed isn’t magically going to make the female lead fall in love with him, so he works to make himself more appealing to her. With the encouragement of those online, he puts more care into his appearance and tries to come out of his shell. It can hardly be called wish fulfillment when a major theme of the manga is the protagonist putting in the time, money, and effort to improve himself in order to earn the object of his desire.
Naturally, as a bonafide manga about love, the romance part of the manga is one of its major strengths. Train Man does a good job of depicting what the early stages of courting and dating often look like, both the excitement and the uncertainty. A lot of the spotlight is given to the meetings between the ML and FML and is given to their gradual development from two strangers to acquaintances then eventually something more. All the way there are genuinely cute romantic moments that will make you smile, squeal, and kick your legs excitedly.
The pacing is another one of this manga’s stronger points. While many romance manga either develop so quickly that they feel forced and artificial or so slowly that they become unengaging slogs, Train Man enjoys a very steady sense of progress. The relationship between the two leads is constantly moving forward, with the only real pauses being there to allow the ML and supporting cast of online readers to discuss and reflect on his progress so far. The story is about as long as it needs to be, as if it went on longer the mangaka would have likely been forced to add in the padding and tediously sluggish development that plagues so many other romance manga. Train Man doesn’t overstay its welcome and that's part of what makes its story so engaging.
The manga’s art is made in a more cartoonish, old school style which I am personally fairly fond of. The cartoonish scribbles lend well to the manga’s lighthearted tone, but aren’t particularly aesthetically pleasing. Most readers would probably find art serviceable if occasionally found wanting, but it's not really a manga you’d read to enjoy the art anyway.
The characterization is arguably where Train Man is found most wanting, as you will find no complex or deeply fleshed out characters in this story. The manga is so focused on the relationship between the two leads that it doesn’t develop them out as characters anymore than is absolutely necessary for the narrative. Meanwhile, the supporting cast is made up of unnamed ordinary people whose lives are only really ever shown in brief snapshots as they read and react to the ML’s forum posts. This is an instance where the manga’s concise writing acts as a double edged sword. On the one hand, the narrative develops quickly and the characters are generic to the point of being ordinary and universally relatable. But on the other hand, it means that even the two leads lack much characterization beyond their relationship to one another.
One of Train Man’s quirks is that the male and female leads are never referred to by their real names, instead they are only called by their forum aliases. This was likely done for two reasons: because these aliases were all they were known by in the original forum posts and because it gives them an anonymity and universal character that makes them more relatable. As I read in the moment, I didn’t like this as I felt it robbed our ML and FML of their individual identities, as if neither of them had a birth name and their existence only mattered as it related to this story. But in hindsight I can appreciate this eccentricity as it acts as a narrative device to limit the manga readers’ knowledge about the two main characters to that which the original forum readers would’ve known about by reading the original posts on 2ch. You, the reader, never learn the real names of “Train Man” and “Hermes” because the people who originally read the original posts on 2ch never learned their real names.
Train Man is a story that I think most people would be able to enjoy on some level. However, it is not a manga to read if you are seeking complex characters, an elaborate plot, or gorgeous art.
Ultimately, Train Man only does one very specific thing, but it does it exquisitely. It is a life affirming love story. It is the story of a man who works on himself in order to be worthy of the one he loves, of the people who encourage his growth and are in turn inspired by it, and of the woman that loves him for it.

Blogging’s Not Dead, It Just Smells Weird (or, Blogging’s Relevance in the TikTok Age)
2022: the year every cyberpunk novel told us would be streaked with neon as the disadvantaged get exploited by the ruling class, cities falling to riots and mass protests, new biker gangs driving around causing mayhem on hoverbikes, and evil mega-corporations micro-managing every aspect of our ever-increasingly connected lives. Unfortunately, only three of these four came true.
Tumblr media
pictured: the future we want, but don't deserve
These days, dedicated blogs such as Tumblr, Blogspot and Wordpress have fallen by the wayside; in their place, the dominant social media platforms of the day are platforms with niches: Instagram with its photos and stories and TikTok with its 15-second clips. As Chaffey (2022) reports, these two platforms comprise over 3,500 million users with most of their users being below the age of 25; notably, previous stalwarts like Tumblr are practically gone from these rankings. That brings us to the question: is blogging dead in the Year of Our Algorithm, 2022? Has the proliferation of bite-sized algorithmically pushed short-form content eroded our attention spans so much that long-form blog writing is a thing of the past?
In the words of Rex Orange County himself, I don’t think so.
Tumblr media
Conventional blogs may be less alive than Queen Elizabeth, but in the present day, blogging has evolved into a new stage of development, moulded by the structure of text-based platforms like Twitter. Twitter, with its 140-or-280-character tweet limit combined with its Thread feature that allows for one to chain a series of tweets together, has recreated a version of the blogging experience within the framework of modern Internet structures.
In this way, the little-nugget-of-information format of current social media is integrated into a larger blog-adjacent format; both preserving something like a long-form article while remaining shareable and discussable in the way that Twitter leads its users towards. This coalescence of long and short formats allows discourse on Twitter to gain a level of nuance inherited from blogging days that has been mostly lost (and some might say, unrecoverable) in 15-second clips and Canva-made infographics. This uniqueness places Twitter as a platform on which some semblance of semi-academic discussion to be had; as Lacassin et al. (2020) states, Twitter has facilitated post-disaster awareness both in the short-term and the long-term as a way to proliferate knowledge amongst those who need it.
As a result of this, blogs live on in the form of these threads. All Twitter users alike use their accounts and threads much in the same way that blogs once did. Academics use threads to expand on research:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
People in fandom use threads to gush about their interests:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there’s everything else in between:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Suffice it to say, Twitter has managed to fill the void that Tumblr and other blog sites left behind in today’s media environment, because sometimes, a Story may not be enough to tell a story, or a photo will not be able to show all sides of an event.
Because sometimes, Kevin from The Office is just wrong.

Same age (29y)coworker in daycare is fundemantally christian and im getting mad every day a lil more via /r/atheism
Same age (29y)coworker in daycare is fundemantally christian, and im getting mad every day a lil more I got a new coworker, we work in groups of 10 children of age 1-3, in a non-religious daycare and I'm baffeld by his world views and comments. A boy grabs a doll, he laughs lightly and points out to me, that the boy grabbed a DOLL!!. He explains every behaivoir of the children through their gender 'boy A is so energized and loud, thats very typical for a boy.'. 'Shes so quiet, but shes a girl, thats normal.' 'Oh look a J, he is very sulky for a boy.' And he so proud of every boy that gets used to him and reasons it with stupid shit. 'W. came all by his own to me. He knows I'm also a male and can protect him'. 'F. is smiling at me now, she realized I'm a father figure to her.'. So, that are examples for old gender roles. Additionally he always wears sweaters with big font 'Jesus loves you', 'you need jesus in your life to be happy', 'only in jesus we can trust'. Etc.. every day its one of those sweaters. He talkes about his community every day, they went here and there at the weekend, a pastor for this city came, etc etc. Around easter we hid chocolade easter eggs for the kids in the playground, and he told me that this has nothing to do with easter,.(in a very judging way). He also told the children some stuff that is factually wrong and harmful, like he showed kids a worm and told them to cut it apart, then there will be 2 worms. They regenerate and live on as 2 individuals. Before a kid could act on the suggestion i stepped in and told them and him sternly that this is a myth and not true. You'll hurt the worm and he'll be lucky if he survives it, and even then only the part with its head survives, his lower part will die. He wouldn't belive me and told me the back will still move and live. I aked him, if he ever googled it and showed him proof within a minute. He just shrudd his shoulders and said, he learned it that way and hes confident that hes right. Grrrrr. And this is just an example. There is so much misinformation in his brain that he shares with us and with the kids! that is alarming. I guess his community disencourages to use the internet for research, i cannot phantom how else he could be so stern and clueless. Also with music, he told me there's only remixes nowadays. Only (insert this german christian sing and songwriter) has original music. I told him that this remix trend is maybe strong on the radio these days, but there are soooo many uncountable new bands, singer and songs out there from every genre. He just dismissed it and assured me, they are copying and using samples form old songs, like that one!(points to the air, radio was playing a remix of "bailando". Hes with us 5 weeks now and at first i only new from his application that his hobbies involve bible reading , and i got aware of his sweaters. But as more i interact with him, i see that this Christian mentality is ingrained in every action hes doing. Its scary. I did not ask my boss yet, how to handle that, because i didn't want to be an ass, but its getting more and more clear that i dont want this for the kids. Maybe you can help me with my first steps? Would asking my boss about general religious afflictions within the workplace a good start? Maybe she can tell me the rules for how much of our own personal belief we are allowed to display at work. We also have a muslim coworker that wears a hijab, but she never mentions allah or Mohammed or talks genderdivided about or with the kids. So i i just point out to his font sweaters, maybe it will fall into the clothes are okay, look at the muslim, i can't forbid her to wear a hijab, otherwise she will not able to work here at all. Maybe some insight, or just your opinion or whatever, I'd appreachiate it. Submitted April 13, 2024 at 11:52AM by 100SacredThoughts (From Reddit https://ift.tt/PSof5WR)

Social Media Comm Blog #1
Tumblr Blog #1
Although there has been an extreme rise in how social media affects our everyday lives, I do remember a time before apps like Instagram and Snapchat came into my peripheral. It wasn’t until the early 2010s that I first took notice of social media in its current form. Some could argue that communicating with strangers on Roblox or using AOL chatrooms was the original social media, and they’d be correct. However, the evolution from then up until now has shown a vast growth in its influence on society. Defining social media in basic terms would oversimplify a complicated and diverse way of communicating, but, using a more detailed definition could lead to issues in the future. If social media and online communication change in a way that has not been foreseen, a singular basic definition cannot be tied to something so impermanent. Therefore, social media’s definition can only be defined by its most current status, which is everchanging. I personally define social media as a platform of communication used between civilians, corporate bodies, and most recently artificial intelligence to spread information (and misinformation) on the World Wide Web.
My first introduction to social media was via Instagram in 2012 when the company first went public. Although it was a hot new craze, Instagram had the same novelty feeling as any other useless app on an early-generation iPhone/iPod. As years went on, however, Instagram became a permanent staple in how we communicate and view one another. Then came Snapchat, a video-sharing and messaging app that had a feature where all public posts had a shelf life of twenty-four hours before disappearing. Over the subsequent decade (2013-2023), Snapchat became a cesspool of people who garnered clout and social status by romanticizing their own lives, which is a phenomenon that has plagued people my age for years. From my experience, nothing good ever happens on Snapchat.
I see myself as being a very socially conscious user of social media, limiting my time on the internet and doing everything in my power to not get bogged down by the microcosm social media algorithms have curated for me. I am constantly deleting and redownloading apps, a struggle I have been fighting since making my first Instagram account back in grade school. While I am able to limit my own use significantly, those who can’t should not be blamed for insane average screen times and constant internet usage. I use social media in passing, whereas others may use it as an escape or alternative to the physical world. Many people born in the late 1990s to early 2000s are children of the internet and have inadvertently been the driving force behind social media’s explosion. It has been curated for us by people and industries who had no foresight as to what their ideas would do to our brains and culture. Now everyone has ADHD, and that’s real.
I am anti social media. I have no actual use for it other than using it as a form of entertainment when I’m bored (i.e. Instagram Reels, Twitter feed). However, I can recognize that there are many ways to use social media for productive purposes. I would like to understand this new facet of life that I have grown up with and fought against. In many ways, I have been indoctrinated, pandered to, and have had the agency to use the internet freely taken from me without the very obvious presence of an algorithm choosing what I see (and what I don’t see). I would like this class to give me a larger perspective as to what social media can do for me and how it can be used for something other than consumption or political propaganda.

I've made a homebrew subclass for rogue for a modern setting dnd campaign that uses techno magic
But before I say anything about this subclass, I'm using this unearthed arcana article about modern magic and specifically the part about hacking tools. In this version of a modern setting, all rogues have proficiency in hacking tools and when they choose expertise, they can have expertise in one skill or hacking tools along with the default options (two expertise skills or one skill and thieves tools). Now, I'll go ahead and reveal the subclass
Hacker
Whether a hacker learned their skills in collage or learned with the help of the Internet, they are the masters of technology and how to use the technology to their advantage. They may be noble ethical hackers that help companies to find vulnerabilities in their systems, or they attack systems for more malicious gains. Or they just do this for fun because its sometime fun to say, "Um, actually…!"
Tech Savvy
At level 3, if you already don't have expertise in Hacking Tools, you now have expertise in Hacking Tools. Also at level 3 you have advantage in intelligence rolls when investigating a digital device. This also includes printers, smart refrigerators, screen projectors, thermostats, routers, switches (no not light switches unless they're smart switches), cameras, drones or any other embedded device. You also have the ability to create a server with the use of a computer whether it be a desktop computer or a laptop. This server cannot be turned off, either with the on/off spell or physically turned off, and must have constant internet connection to be functional. When the server is turned off, it loses all of the data it was storing.
Steganographer
at level 3 you can create hidden messages in digital files whether it be a document, an image or an audio file. You will need to communicate to the receiver what they need to look for. If a creature doesn't have the key to find the secret message, they will need to beat a DC 10 + your intelligence modifier in order to find the secret message. This DC increases at level 9 to 12, at level 13 to 14, and at level 17 to 16. Anyone using Hacking Tools to find the secret message gets advantage.
Exploit
At at 9th level you have the ability to create small malicious software that can attack any digital device. This can either be a worm, a fork bomb, a keylogger, a web crawler or any other form of simple spyware. At 9th level you also have the ability to use your Hacking Tools to sniff and spoof network traffic and the contents of the packets if they aren't encrypted. This can be used to eavesdrop on messages and passwords or as an impersonating someone in a man in the middle attack. This software also can be used on any form of embedded device so long as it isn't complicated for the device (because embedded systems have small brains). For example: if the device's only purpose is to record video, send that video data to a server on the cloud via the internet and do this action every time it detects motion and nothing else, your software must use the device's capabilities. In this example, you can make it that the video data it records can be sent to not only the owner's server but also to the server that you own (this includes something like google drive or an actual server you've built) but since it doesn't have a speaker when you can talk through it and it doesn't have the capabilities to get incoming data from somewhere, you can't make it play an audio file that contains the recorded screams of you winning big at league of legends to confuse a pedestrian.
Digital Necr0mancer
At 13th level you have the ability to create more malicious software such as trojans, root kits and ransomware. You also have the skill to do a Denial of Service attack or a Distributed Denial of Service attack. What's the difference? A standard DoS attack is just one guy while a DDoS its multiple people hogging the systems and the multiple "people" are just bots or zombies you gain with the use of trojans. During a long rest, you can create a trojan and send it out to the world. It exists for a week and during the time it does exist you can roll a d10 to determine the amount of zombies you have access to in order to do a DDoS attack. During the time the trojan exists you can use the zombies to either commit DDoS attacks or do other forms of cyber crime you wish. These zombies exist as digital entities. You can only control these zombies during a short rest or a long rest and one zombie can only do one action between long rests.
b2ggc2hpdA== (Oh Shit)
At 17th level you're so good at making dictionary attacks to crack passwords or any form of attack that cracks encryption that you now have advantage of the use of Hacking Tools to do this. In addition, you can add your intelligence modifier to increase the odds. When an ally is attempting to use Hacking Tools and they aren't proficient in them, you can assist them and they add their and your intelligence modifier plus your proficiency.
yeah uh this subclass is just hacker. no attacks. only utility. and is very reliant on the dm to be come up with different devices and whether or not its an embedded device. I mean technically you can DDoS a hospital or send ransomware to a gas pipeline and tbh the amount of utility this subclass you can get out of is when both the player and the dm knows enough about cyber security and tech things to be creative with it but that's why i made this. to make a hacker

Just saw a take that basically was “make people pay a price to use any online platform” which is just very?? white middle class?? How do you think people who can’t afford that are going to express themselves?? Post about inhumane work conditions??
But also it got me thinking, at one point I was raging about the price of gas going up to my dad and he said, “good. It will discourage people from driving, and eventually the industry will die.”
Which, is basically another form of this same argument, which is basically, remove access by making it inaccessible to those who can’t pay.
Does it mean the resource gets used less? Well, I’m not an economist so I don’t really know, but my guess is no— because the bulk of its use to begin with is by the rich anyway, so the lower class dipping out most likely will have a small effect, but will ultimately be drowned out by the price increase. Also, they will simply still rely on it and be poorer by this strain, because our entire society is fucking built on the oil industry ffs.
Social media is becoming (or maybe already is) a core part of the way our society communicates and formulates beliefs and values. It sucks, yes, but we have to face the fact that this is what is happening whether we like it or not. Even if you don’t place value in social media for moral direction, an increasingly high number of people do and turn to it for news, opinion, and life choices.
Given this modern role of social media, it disturbs me that this argument is being presented as such a reasonable and level take, as marginalized voices are already so ignored and outright mocked on the internet. If the internet becomes something only accessible to the upper classes, the disconnect between these realities (rich and not rich) will rapidly increase. While I know this is already in practice via algorithms and other features, you can at least still find content if you look for it. People can call elongated muskrat a piece of shit and he will SEE it. If a paywall is raised, expression on social media will become a privilege, just like having an entertainment subscription or any other paid thing.
It especially concerns me when talking about social justice online, and how the internet has been a tool for empowerment for poor communities that would not be able to protest inhumane treatment otherwise.
I dunno this take just pissed me off a little like I know this is a capitalist society and all that but the goal should not be to make things less accessible to the poor because you want your cute little site to be ad free. Like no it’s not perfect hell it actively sucks but making it a premium service?? Not it!
Also would be irresponsible not to mention how sucky data mining is and how it can put people at risk if involved in social activism. Like yes I get it the current system isn’t perfect but just like the gas issue, raising prices is not going to make anything better until the abusive systems at play are burned to the ground.
Ugh anyway I guess what I’m trying to say is capitalism sucks ass and like, a take that encourages MORE cost/price barring PISSES ME TF OFF
In a perfect world the internet would be free and housing would be free and food would be free and healthcare would be free and all basic human necessities would be FREE and I could BUY SOME MOTHERFUCKING ART FFS

Interview with Charlie D'Aniello Trigueros, author of Between Death and Flight
Tumblr media
by Pascale Potvin.
I recently had the pleasure of reading Charlie D’Aniello Trigueros’s newest book, Between Death & Flight, before it releases on May 3rd. In epistolary form, this (sometimes fictionalized) creative-nonfiction recounts his experience as a minor detained by ICE, having escaped transphobic abuse from his then-home in the Dominican Republic.
The pre-order page from warning lines lit, of which D’Aniello Trigueros is also Editor-in-Chief, describes book as a story of “confinement, stripping of freedom, and existence as an inherently transgressive self”. Knowing my blurb couldn’t ever do justice to its power, I also wanted to have him speak more on it, himself, for the audience of Wrongdoing. As members of online literary communities in common, I was grateful that we shared the following conversation.
You have another book forthcoming, too, with Gutslut Press, which is quite exciting. What made you decide to release Between Death & Flight specifically through your own organization, warning lines literary?
I do! That book (a poetry chapbook titled PLACES) has been waiting a while to be published, I’m really excited Gutslut picked it up! I think my decision to publish Between Death & Flight via warning lines rather than trying to find an external publisher ultimately comes down to trust. I have to admit I don’t quite trust trad publishing to treat this story with respect; I don’t trust the industry to deem my story marketable, in part because it’s not the kind of story I hear about at all. I guess, also, I wanted to retain as much power over this narrative (this experience) as I possibly could, especially given how powerless I was in the situation Between Death & Flight approaches. It was my way of saying “fuck you, I’m going to tell it the way I know how”.
If I’m not mistaken, this is your first book-length publication of creative nonfiction. How has the lead up to release been, overall, in comparison to your other launches? Does it feel more vulnerable than publishing, for example, poetry?
It feels a lot more vulnerable than fiction, and moderately more vulnerable than poetry in general. With fiction, I feel like there’s a couple layers of separation (at least from the reader’s point of view). However, my poetry is often also kind-of creative non-fiction, if that makes sense? My poetry is a vessel for my memory and my history (and my trauma!) in a way that feels very similar to creative non-fiction— or at least to Between Death & Flight specifically. That’s probably why my personal journals also invariably end up containing more than a few poems scribbled spontaneously on their pages.
But even then, I feel like when I publish poetry I feel slightly less naked (well, okay, sometimes not), because there are truths within my poems that are hidden just enough so as to not be conclusively deduced. Only I get to know the meaning in minute details of my poetry, and that makes it so I don’t feel quite as naked. With Between Death & Flight, on the other hand, there’s truths in there that I had to confront in order to convey them, and they’re right there, plain for everyone to read. This is especially vulnerable since some parts of the book are quotes from my journals.
In your first email to me requesting a blurb, you stated: "the events happened in 2016 (I confess that I started writing it while IN the detention center), and has been repeatedly rewritten, reformatted, reimagined since then”. What did that revision look like? What shifted and changed throughout the process?
I’ll be honest: Between Death & Flight came very very close to not being published at all. It was only this year, after certain personal ties were severed that had been begging to be cut for some time, that I finally swore to myself I’d see it through this time.
When I first started writing it, this story was being put to paper (in pencil and by hand, mind you, since I didn’t have access to the internet or to technology in the detention center) almost in real time. I wrote the bit about my short stay at the airport and Officer Baker probably a couple weeks after it happened, in a notebook I kept with me at all times to avoid it being read while I was away from it. But then half a year later, I was deported to my home country and had to keep the peace with the people I originally ran away from, so I put the notebook away and shelved the project.
Sometime after that, I tried writing this book as fiction, changing key aspects of it so as to make it less specific, more palatable to the average reader. But that made it feel fake, made me feel like I was sacrificing something too important for a purpose that was not worth that sacrifice. Still, I couldn’t yet even think of publishing something that placed guilt on a certain member of my family, so I abandoned it again.
At some point, I began to write it in prose and as creative nonfiction, but the guilt of speaking ill of my mother, despite all that she has done, made it impossible for me to go on, especially because I thought, at the time, that my relationship to her had changed and improved in the years following my running away.
Then, last fall I realized the truth (though I cannot speak as to how, in part because it is so wordless and nebulous). And I still had the notebooks I’d journaled in all those years ago. So I set out to transcribe the parts that resonated most, and that made me remember so much of what I felt and lived (though I promise you I have never really forgotten, at least not yet). It felt the most real and the most appropriate to recreate my journey (more my mental journey than the concrete events, really) in journal entries, as that’s how I’ve always processed my feelings best. That’s how the final version was born.
Between Death & Flight details such varied hardships and challenges from just a short period in your life. Without having to get too personal with your answer, what would you say was the biggest challenge in putting the book together?
This answer might seem odd, but I actually think the dreams were the biggest challenge.
Even at the best of times, sometimes I drift back to Jefferson House in my dreams. And not just to the detention center itself, but to the times directly before that— to the life I had as an abused trans teen, which made me feel like those were the only options: to die or to flee. That’s what the title means, incidentally: that I was trapped in between the only two escapes I saw for pain and abuse: death or flight.
Anyway, about the dreams. While writing Between Death & Flight, the dreams/nightmares of being 17-again and helpless greatly increased in frequency, and that was difficult to deal with. I had a lot of arguments in my dreams. I yelled a lot. I even woke up yelling in Spanish a couple times. But that’s the cost of remembering, and I accept it.
Is there anything you’d like your readers to know that you might not have been able to include in the final text?
There are a lot of things (and a lot of people) that I didn’t include in the book. I want readers to know that these aren’t the only events that happened— and that the point of the book wasn’t to detail every little thing that happened while I was there. I mean, it was six months of my life. That’s half a year, which for a 17 year old is a long long time. I made a lot of friends. I lost many others. I couldn’t hope to describe the full story even if I wrote three more books on it.
I also want people to know that the experience was a lot less black and white than they might think reading Between Death & Flight. For instance, when it comes to the Hounds (the staff members assigned to guard the imprisoned children). I made friends with a handful of them. I thought they were my friends, sometimes, back then. I was a child, I thought they cared. I thought, for the most part, that we could be friends despite the power imbalance. But the book is meant to focus on the isolation and the introspection, the feelings of the thing from my 17-year-old perspective, but definitely told as processed by my 23-year-old self. I wasn’t as aware back then of the white supremacy and colonialism at play as I am now (I was aware, and I suffered at the hands of it, but I wasn’t as aware). That’s part of why my “friendship” with the Hounds isn’t given space in the book except to comment on feeling like a pet/complicit: because my perception of that fluctuating “friendship” back then has been overwritten by the clarity of my more mature awareness of the power dynamics at play there.
What’s next for you, project-wise? Can we ever expect more CNF about events following the detention centre and your journey to your current residence in Sweden?
I think you’re more likely to see some creative non-fiction about my earlier childhood than about the-detention-center-and-beyond! Ever since I started publishing my work (especially poetry), I’ve been slowly getting to know my childhood self again. A lot of my childhood is plagued by trauma, and writing about it seems to help me understand my identity as it relates to my memory/history. Though it’s a poetry chapbook, I think you’ll find a lot of that in PLACES once it comes out with Gutslut Press! I also finished a second chapbook of poetry (and one short piece of creative non-fiction) inspired by Satan, Satanism, and by my own identity journey from lost lamb to reclaimed monsterhood, which I hope to publish at the beginning of the fall!

Metaverse
Bridge In Gain: Game with Metaverse Ideas (BIG Metaverse Project)
Tumblr media
About BigMetaverse
Metaverse is a very broad and complex technology. The world of Metaverse is a completely different world in the Computer room. This requires access via (VR), Virtual Reality or (AU) Augmented Reality. This Metaverse can be accessed through Personal Computers, Phones and Game Consoles. Metaverse is a vast space in the Digital world which has its own economy where users will be able to sell and buy goods. Metaverse has an interoperable feature that allows users to take things like clothes, cars from one place to another. . Metaverse allows users to buy virtual Lands, build them, and rent them out. This is quite an amazing technology that will revolutionize the digital world. In this article, I will discuss about the Big Metaverse platform,
BigMetaverse's goal is to build a huge Decentralized Metaverse ecosystem where users will be able to explore, participate in activities, collaborate, learn and do all kinds of things together. It's like the real world but the BigMetaverse world will be limited to the Virtual world. Users will be able to connect friends all over the world, chat with them, Play Games together, and engage in shared activities. BigMetaverse will allow users to create and monetize their content. It only offers a blockchain powered platform where content creators monetize virtual products, interactive 3D models. All of these activities are supported by the use of cryptocurrencies and smart contract technology.
Content creators earn tokens by sharing their creativity with others. BigMetaverse offers a decentralized metadata registry for the Web3 ecosystem, the protocol is capable of storing, indexing, and searching metadata attached to smart contracts. Day by day many people adopt Metaverse, they start to experience VR and AR (Augmented Reality) technology.
Tumblr media
How the Great Metaverse works
: Very good project. I'm sure this project will be in high demand when it launches because it has a solid team structure and excellent project credentials. I am sure when it is launched, there will be a lot of interest in this project because this project has a solid and reliable team structure. This project is one of the most creative and revolutionary of all! pleasures that I will be wary of. In my opinion, one of the best projects.
Most of us already know blockchain technology as the core foundation of the crypto ecosystem. The versatile features associated with this technology have led to the popularity of cryptocurrencies attracting not only a loyal user base but also institutional investors and large corporations. But blockchain is not limited to just cryptocurrencies, it can cause a paradigm shift in almost every industry related to information storage and data protection as it has the ability to decentralize operations without relying on any authority to control data.
This project, and the team have built a strong community with great potential. Lucky project. Great project with a really cool idea! I believe in their success. The increasing popularity and adoption of cryptocurrencies by millions of users raises serious concerns about network congestion and scalability of different blockchain networks. Apart from increasing cryptocurrency trading, decentralized finance also increases the load on these networks. The promising nature of blockchain has led to the development of many new protocols including yield farming, liquidity pools, and mining platforms on already dense blockchains.
Tumblr media
The BigMetaverse platform will enable so many people who want to experience the magic of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Currently, most people use the internet to carry out various forms of activity. They use it to play games, Watch Videos, read stories, play audio and much more. BigMetaverse will build a new world, a fantasy world that will allow users to do almost everything they do in the physical world in the Virtual world. BigMetaverse has a huge economy backed by Cryptocurrencies and Non-Fungible tokens (NFT), this will allow users to transact in the world of Metaverse through this digital currency. User activity is monetized, they will get monetary rewards based on their level of participation in the ecosystem.
Tumblr media
Tokenomics
Blockchain-based game technology development is complete with a digital currency called BIG Token which is built on the Binance Smart Chain. This game can be played for free and or paid, all forms of purchase are assets that are given their rights to players with a deflation mechanism. BIG Token has a total  supply  of 250,000,000 with a transparency system in order to create a more secure Bridge In Gain Metaverse environment, each token will be distributed during the Token Generation Event (TGE) according to a predetermined time period.
Tumblr media

METAVERSE
Bridge In Gain: Video Game Metaverse launched by BIG
Tumblr media
In this article, I will discuss about the Big Metaverse platform,
BigMetaverse's goal is to build a large Decentralized Metaverse ecosystem where users will be able to explore, participate in activities, collaborate, learn and do all sorts of things together. All these activities are supported by the use of cryptocurrencies and Smart contract technology.
How the Big Metaverse works
: Very good project . I'm sure this project will have a lot of interest when it launches because this project has a solid team structure and very good project trust. I am sure that when it launches, there will be a lot of interest in this project because this project has a solid and reliable team structure. This project is one of the most creative and revolutionary of all! pleasures that I would be wary of.
The promising nature of blockchain has led to the development of many new protocols including yield farming, liquidity pools, and mining platforms on an already dense blockchain.
The BigMetaverse platform will enable so many people who want to experience the magic of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Nowadays, most of the people use the internet to carry out various forms of activities.
The BIG token is the native token of the BigMetaverse ecosystem and drives the economy of the entire ecosystem and forces interaction between platform users.
Big Metaverse as a blockchain powered Virtual Reality ecosystem that offers the best fantasy world like the real world. The ecosystem allows users to play all kinds of games and earn rewards. Users will also be able to interact with each other in VR. Ecosystem aims to create a world of all possibilities in the Metaverse. You can play games, hire mercenaries to conquer criminals. Engage in business like buying Virtual land, building, renting and all kinds of commercial activities that will earn you money. It's a Digital ecosystem that lets you add real value to whatever you do in the Digital world.
BigMetaverse is a game that changes the Metaverse ecosystem that aims to take how we interact with the internet in the digital world to a higher level. Users will be able to connect friends all over the world, chat with them, Play Games together, and engage in shared activities. BigMetaverse will allow users to create and monetize their content. It only offers a blockchain powered platform where content creators monetize virtual products, interactive 3D models. All these activities are supported by the use of cryptocurrencies and Smart contract technology. It will be very big.

OUR ROAD MAP We put together a systematic plan for the progress of the BIG Metaverse
1.The first step in our journey is to carefully design concepts and ideas and then proceed to form a team. After the team is formed, we carry out technology and ecosystem research followed by prototyping and making a final decision on the plan to be implemented. Then we also legalized the company, and illustrated the concept of Bridge in Gain. The preparation of game design documents and making prototypes was continued with the development of the company's website.
2.Furthermore, the conceptualized idea is designed into a 3D asset for Bridge in the Gain Metaverse and followed by the development of the system and ecosystem in it. Then, we will also develop tenant applications and player super apps for your business needs. Also in this quarter, we developed the web, and integrated it with the Unity system. After that, we also check the quality of the products made through quality assurance and proceed with Alpha Tests and Pre-release news
3.In the third quarter, we conducted a Beta Test and continued with the release of Bridge in Gain Metaverse V.1. Then, we issue tokens and issue a whitepaper. After that, BIG coins will be listed on pancake swap, coin market cap, and coinecko. In addition, we also innovate by launching BIG FIN-X Wallet as a non-cash transaction tool. Then we audit smart contracts through certificate audits followed by licenses from various exchanges such as Tokocrypto and Indodax. In addition to permits from the stock exchange, we also applied for permits to CoFTRA and Bank Indonesia.
4.Once the license is obtained, we will develop the NFT starting from Field Development, Flats and Offices. We also built our own Blockchain to make it easier for users to transact at cheaper and faster prices. Next up, coin issuance and smart contract creation. Compilation and publication of the V.2 whitepaper, then we will launch the BIG Marketplace followed by the release of Bridge on
